Author's Note: Yes, I know this should've been posted a long time ago, but I've been a little busy. Nothing interesting, in my opinion, really happens in this chapter. There are a few changes, but other than that, it's basically the same. Out of all the chapters I've written for this story, this one is definitely not the greatest. I had an idea for it, but I wasn't ready for that to happen, so this is what I went with instead. It's also not extremely lengthy, but it's something. This is basically a "hold you over" kind of chapter until I can figure out something interesting to happen in chapter 11. I am currently working on that chapter, but knowing me, nothing will really happen in that either. I guess you'll have to wait and find out. Again, sorry about the long wait and I'm hoping to have the next one out in a faster amount of time. Enjoy!

After that incident in the ally that day, Kendall and Jade became a little closer. Over the next month and a half, Kendall learns a little more about Jade and keeps his feelings about her to himself (and Camille). Jade calls him Blondie and Knight a little less everyday and starts to actually consider him a good friend of hers.

College and work life remains the same. More homework, which makes for less social time and they put in extra hours at work when they can to make a little more extra cash.

Jade began going out with a guy she met in one of her classes, Daniel, which upset Kendall, but he put on a smile when she told him and said he was happy for her. She tried to get Kendall to go out with someone in one of his classes, but he just assures her that he's not quite ready to start dating again.

It's a few days away from Halloween and they decided to go costume shopping. It's not really Jade's thing because she finds dressing up for one of her favorite holidays stupid, but Kendall convinced her to do it if they're going to go to one of the Halloween costume parties being thrown.

"I don't know what the hell I should be." she sighs and looks around some more.

"Be a witch."

Jade raises an eyebrow. "And by that you mean?"

"I wasn't calling you a witch, I was just saying you should be one."

"That's so cliché."

"All these costumes are cliché, Jade. That's why there're so many of the same ones."

"People should learn to be more original, then. We don't need ten thousand bitches running around being slutty nurses."

Kendall thinks about Jade in that costume and he has to stop himself from thinking any further before something embarrassing happens. "Right. You're so right."

"What're you gonna be?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe I just won't go to one of these parties. I'll be a third wheel anyways."

Jade picks up and outfit and looks at it before putting it back. "You won't be a third wheel. I'm not even sure if Daniel's going to any of these dumb parties. Plus, you're the one who wanted to go."

"I know, but if we can't find a costume, then there's no point in going."

"Yeah, I guess." she sighs.

Kendall scans through a few more costumes before sighing and giving up. "Let's go. I don't think we're gonna find anything here."

"Why don't we just come up with our own damn costumes?"

"You can go as the Queen of Darkness."

Jade shoves him a little, but considers it. "What would you go as?"

Kendall picks up a long blond wig. "Blondie."

Jade smiles. "Just Blondie? What about the rest of the costume?"

"I'm not sure."

Jade takes the wig from him. "How about we blow-dry this so that it's just full of life and find you an eighties outfit to go with it?"

"That could work. And for you we find all black everything. Including makeup."

"Deal."

They pick out each others' costumes before leaving and making their way back to Kendall's car.

"I'm gonna look like a huge dumbass when everyone sees me in this." he comments.

"Nothing out of the ordinary." Jade tells him and smirks when he sticks his tongue out at her. "You'll just look like a dumbass, I'm gonna look like an evil slut."

"Same as always." he responds with a smile as he unlocks the doors. "I'm sure Daniel will like it."

"What do you think about him?"

"Do you actually care?"

"If I didn't care, I wouldn't ask."

Kendall wants nothing more than to lie and tell Jade he's awful for her, but he isn't and he can't sit here and lie to her. "He's nice. He seems to make you happy which is saying a lot." he tells her and gets in the car.

Jade does the same. "He does make me happy."

"That's all that matters."

"You still don't want a girlfriend? Cat still wants to date you."

Kendall laughs as he pulls out of the parking lot. "She's sweet, but I'm still not interested."

"Good. I don't think that relationship would last."

"I agree. That's why I won't do it."

"She's just too-" she stops once her phone vibrates in her pocket. She pulls it out and looks to see who's calling or texting. "It's Daniel."

Kendall rolls his eyes, but it goes unnoticed. "Answer it."

He doesn't hear much on Jade's end; just enough to know that he wants her to meet up with him somewhere. She asks Kendall for the time and tells Daniel she'll be where he wants to meet her at in a few.

"Can you drop me off at that new restaurant about five minutes from our apartment?"

"Yeah. Sure." he manages to say. He never likes it when Jade goes out with the guy, but he can't do anything about it.

Kendall drops off Jade at the hospital, saying a quick hello to Daniel before leaving and going back home. He tries to distract himself while Jade's gone by trying to start writing a new song, but he can't help sitting there feeling jealous. He wants to tell Jade how he truly feels, but ultimately doesn't want to face the rejection or the awkwardness that would follow once he did.

To keep himself busy, he cleans up around the apartment; it's become less than organized since school really picked up and they have extra hours at work. It keeps his mind off of things for about two hours and he's just finishing the dishes when Jade walks in.

"The place looks pretty damn good, Blondie." she tells him as she takes a seat at the island.

"Thanks, West. Someone had to get it clean." he responds. "I cleaned everything except your room. I wasn't sure if I wanted to."

"And by that you mean?"

"You might have some limbs lying around in there. I didn't wanna take the chance."

Jade rolls her eyes. "You're so dramatic."

Kendall shrugs and turns around to face her. "How was the date?"

"It was fine."

"You say that about every date."

"I don't know," she sighs. "He's great and all, but he doesn't hold my attention like he should."

"Maybe that'll change."

"I hope so. I really hope he's not gay."

Kendall chuckles. "Just because your last boyfriend turned out to be, doesn't mean every guy you date will be."

"What if he is?" Jade questions. "What does that say about me?"

"That you're the one who turns them." he jokes.

Jade picks up an apple out of the fruit bowl and throws it at him, but he catches it.

"Don't try to take off my head."

"That wasn't funny."

He shrugs a little. "It was."

"Whatever. Maybe I feel this way because it's been a while since I've been out with a guy."

"That's true, too."

Jade slides her phone out of her pocket when she feels the vibration of it.

"Daniel?" Kendall asks.

"No, Cat texted me. She wants me to know that she's decided to throw a Halloween party."

"But we're already going to one."

Jade sighs. "How about we go to Cat's first and if it sucks, we'll go to the other one."

"And if they both suck?"

"Then we'll go by and egg random houses."

Kendall laughs as he bites into the apple. "Sounds like a plan."

Halloween night, Kendall pulls up in front of Cat's house and parks the car. It's pretty packed and he's actually a little surprised; not completely, though since Cat is a sweet girl, of course people would come.

It's just him and Jade for the night and he couldn't be more happier. Daniel opted to go to a different Halloween party instead of Cat's. He could tell Jade was slightly bummed at first, but she quickly got over it.

Unbuckling his seat belt, he takes his key out of the ignition and slides it into the pocket of his extremely tight leather red pants Jade picked out for his costume. Kendall looks over at Jade, who really does look like the Queen of Darkness. A tight, black top that shows off cleavage (Kendall couldn't resist picking that out); a short, tight, black skirt complete with black makeup — including her lipstick. She even wore a black tiara.

Jade looks over at Kendall and raises an eyebrow. "What?"

He shakes his head. "Nothing."

"Let's get going."

Kendall nods and opens the door. "Remember, no drinking. And if you do, not a lot." he reminds her as he steps out of the car and closes the door, waiting for Jade to do the same before he locks the doors back.

"Just stick with me for the night, okay?" Jade asks and Kendall's a little surprised that she did.

"You've got it."

Walking up into the house, Kendall glances around at the people in different costumes. He sees a few repeats and even a couple of slutty nurses that Jade was talking about and laughs at the thought.

"What?" Jade asks and looks up at him.

"It's nothing."

She shrugs. "Let's go find Cat."

Kendall nods and follows behind Jade as she looks around for Cat. They go into the kitchen and immediately he notices a girl in a red cloak.

Kendall places a hand on Jade's shoulder to keep her from walking away and points to the girl. "I think that's her."

"Cat." Jade says.

Cat turns around and walks over to them, hugging Jade until she pushes her away and giving Kendall a quick hug. "I'm glad you're here."

"Yeah, well, I figured why the hell not." Jade says.

"What're you two supposed to be?"

"I'm Blondie and she's the Queen of Darkness." he informs her. "Judging by your costume I'm guessing your Little Red Riding Hood?"

"Yay! You're the first person to get it!"

Jade looks at her, disbelief showing on her face. "Seriously? Are people really that dumb?"

"No being mean tonight, Jade." Cat tells her. "Tonight's about fun."

"Whatever."

A new song comes on and Cat jumps up and down. "I love this song!" she exclaims. "I'm gonna go dance. Have fun!" she tells them as she runs out the kitchen and into the living room.

"Time to make the most out of this night." Kendall says.

"Let's get to it."

The night is actually filled with fun. They laugh and dance for most of it and Kendall even spares Cat a couple of dances. Jade refrains from drinking alcohol, not wanting a repeat of the last party they went to. He's dancing with Jade, Cat dancing by herself beside them, and at the moment he's kind of wishing his pants weren't so tight. Her back is to his front, her arms around his neck and his hands on her hips and they're just basically grinding against each other. He never thought they would end up in this position, but he sure as hell is enjoying it.

A new song is just getting started when Kendall feels a hand on his shoulder. He turns his head the best that he can and sees Daniel standing there.

"Mind if I cut in?" he asks and Kendall really wants to tell him that he does fucking mind.

Kendall stops dancing and removes his hands from Jade's hips and she immediately drops her arms back to her side to ask why he stopped when she sees Daniel.

"Hey," he greets. "Nice costume."

Jade gives a small smile. "Thanks. I thought you weren't coming?"

"I changed my mind." he tells her. "Wanna dance?"

Jade looks at Kendall, who doesn't look back at her, and nods her head in agreement. Daniel pulls Jade away from where she's at and leads them over to a new spot.

Kendall sighs and looks at Cat. "Cat?"

Cat stops dancing and walks closer so she can hear him. "Yeah?"

"Wanna dance?"

"Yeah, I'd love to!"

Kendall gets tired of dancing after a while and tells Cat that he's gonna go get something to drink. He goes into the kitchen and grabs a bottle of water, chuckling a little at the fact that it's the same thing he did at the other party he and Jade went to.

He's considering leaving, but doesn't want to leave Jade here. He knows that Daniel would get her home, but he promised her that he would stick with her for the night so he's staying. It's the right thing to do.

Like clockwork, Jade comes walking into the kitchen and stands in front of him. "I had a feeling you were in here."

"Were you looking for me?"

"Yeah, I was."

"Well, you found me." he tells her and takes a sip of his water.

"What's with you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You just...changed. You were having fun and now you seem like someone pissed you the fuck off."

Kendall sighs. "I'm fine, Jade. Go back and dance."

"I don't wanna dance with Daniel anymore."

"Why not? He's your boyfriend."

"He's not that great at it." she tells him, taking the bottle of water out of his hand and drinking some of it. "And I'll admit it, I was having fun with you."

Kendall smiles at Jade's confession. "I was having fun with you, too."

Jade places the bottle down on the counter and holds out her hand. "Come dance with me."

"What about Daniel?"

"Like I said, I don't wanna dance with him anymore. He'll be fine, I don't think he's gonna stay too much longer anyway." she responds with a shrug. "Now, come dance with me." she repeats.

Kendall takes her hand and begins to walk out the kitchen. "I'd be honored."

They stay until midnight, Jade not wanting to still be there because it technically wasn't Halloween anymore, before driving back to the apartment. They immediately change out of their costumes and put on regular clothes and watch TV for a couple of hours. Kendall ends up falling asleep during some random horror movie they were watching and Jade decides to do the same because she's not in the mood for getting up.

They wake up groggily, neither wanting to get up, but they have to so they can get to class.

"Why did Halloween have to be on a weekday?" Jade asks as she stetches.

Kendall lets out a yawn. "At least we're not hungover."

"No, but I'm still tired."

"Yeah. I am, too." he agrees. "I'm going to class just like this, I don't have it in me to go change."

Jade nods slightly. "Well, I do." she stands up and is about to leave the room to go to hers so she can change, but she stops and looks at Kendall. "Get breakfast going, Blondie."

Kendall rolls his eyes, but laughs. "Yes, Your Highness."

Their classes go by as usual, nothing too interesting. Kendall manages to get a laugh out of the fact that some people are completely hungover and that in a few classes, there are a lot of people missing.

They go into work, deciding a few weeks back that they should pick up an extra day; it's only a few hours, but it's enough to get them by.

They both flop down on the couch when they get home, deciding to spend their time watching TV because most of the day has been wasted with school and work.

Jade answers her phone as Kendall tries to find a channel to watch. He can tell by the way that she's talking that it's Daniel and he rolls his eyes as he settles on a channel. She hangs up not too long afterwards and focuses her attention on the television.

"Daniel?" Kendall asks.

"Yeah."

He stares at her for a moment, waiting for her to continue.

"What?" she asks.

"What did he want?"

"Why do you care?"

"Just trying to make conversation."

Jade sighs. "He wanted to know if I wanted to go out tonight and I told him no."

Kendall fights the urge to smile. "Really? You wanna spend the rest of the day hanging out with me?"

"Trust me, you're not my first choice, Kendall." she looks over at him with a smirk. "But, you make for a good time every now and then."

"Thanks." he smiles.

"Besides," she starts as she takes the remote out of his hand and turns off the TV. "I was hoping we could continue with the guitar lessons."

"I thought we finished that a couple weeks ago?"

"I don't feel like I'm good enough." she replies honestly. "Are you up for it?"

Kendall nods, he definitely wouldn't pass on an opportunity to spend time doing something with Jade. "Of course."

"Good." she says and stands up. "Let's get to it, Blondie."

"Your wish is my command, West."
