The Tenoh's
Chapter Ten
A large group of people stood around waiting patiently for two certain people to show up, after all this was all for them. "I hope they're not like this tomorrow," Haruka was amused at the lateness of her cousin and his fiancée. The blonde leaned against the chair that Michiru sat on, "I'm sure they have alignment reason for being late, Haruka."
The blonde just nodded her head, "right…" she didn't believe that one bit.
The outside door opened and in rushed the two missing people, "Sorry we are late…we had car trouble." Hirari looked sheepishly at everyone and Jasutin just looked embarrassed.
"Did you forget to get gas?" Haruka chuckled at the look on their faces. Jasutin walked past Haruka and smacked her hard on the arm, "Shut up!"
Haruka rubbed her arm, "I take that as a yes," she whispered to Michiru not risking getting hit again by her cousin.
"Now that the bride and groom are here we now can start." The minister called everyone over that was involved in the wedding. The bride and groom stood in front of the podium, Haruka stood beside her cousin with her hands in her pant pockets. She still couldn't believe that Jasutin wanted her to be his best man. As the minister talked them through the wedding talk and what they had to say Haruka's mind started to wonder to a certain young lady with aqua coloured hair. The blonde glanced back; a smile came to her lips as she stared into Michiru's eyes. Haruka winked at her girlfriend which caused her to smile back in return.
"Does the best man have the rings?" The minister looked at the blonde. No reply was given.
"Haruka!?" Jasutin swatted her arm, "Earth to Haruka…"
"Yeah?" She looked at her cousin then at the minister then back to Jasutin.
"Can you not stop staring at your girlfriend and pay attention to what is going on for once?" He whispered just loud enough for the blonde to hear. A light blush came to the blonde's cheeks; she smiled from ear to ear. "Sorry."
"Uh huh, sure." He didn't believe her for a second. "I will get you back for this, you know that right?"
The minister cleared his throat; he looked to the blonde again. "Do you have the rings?"
Haruka nodded her head in agreement and took the rings out of her pocket.
"Should this go here or over there?" Kyari held two flower vases.
"I'm not sure; you will have to ask the decorator." Anjera stood beside the DJ table helping Anji set it up. "Well you're a lot of help…" Kyari walked off in search of the decorator. Anjera shrugged her shoulders, "I'm just the maid of honour…I don't know much."
Anji looked at her and couldn't help but chuckle at her, "So you finally admit you don't know anything?"
Anjera's eyebrows furrowed. "You better be nice to me or you can sleep on the couch tonight…" The tomboy's grin on her face grew in size. "You always threaten me with that but you never follow through with it," Anji gently grabbed hold of the black haired girl's t-shirt making her come closer to her and kissed her softly on the back of her neck. Anjera closed her eyes enjoying the loving gesture from her girlfriend.
Across the room stood Michiru who was watching the two love birds at the other end of the room. "Ruka..." she looked up to the blonde who was up a ladder taping some decoration to the wall.
"Hmm…" she looked at her friend then glanced the same way she was looking.
"I just knew those two were a couple," Michiru grip tighten on the ladder she was holding. She missed Haruka so much even though she was basically standing beside her. "You owe me a drink..."
"What? When did that become a rule?" Haruka looked to her girlfriend with confusion written all over her face, Michiru giggled at the look. "I just made it up right now actually."
"That is what I thought," the blonde climbed down the ladder which Michiru still held. "Are you going to let me down the ladder?"
"Yeah I suppose." Michiru didn't really want to let her come down. "I do have to say it gave me a nice view of your butt though."
"Well I am glad you liked the view." Haruka quickly kissed her on the cheek before turning around and grabbing the ladder to move it further down the wall.
The rental hall started to take shape, it looked more and more like a wedding reception was going to take place in less than a day. The sun had set over an hour ago; everyone was tired from all the decorating.
"Can I get everyone's attention please?" Jasutin stood at the DJ table with microphone in hand. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked to him.
"I wanted to thank everyone for help us out this evening, I know it's been a lot of work and…well it's actually been a lot of work these last few months…" He scratched the back of his head out of nervousness. "Hirari and I are indebted to all of you…so thanks…" he handed back the microphone to Anji.
"Does that mean we are done decorating then?" Rosheru looked to Kyari who shrugged her shoulders.
"Yes that means we are done here…we need to go home and get some rest before the long day tomorrow." Hirari looked to everyone and smiled.
"Haruka, Michiru…we are going to go get a coffee, do you guys want to come?" Haruka's dad asked looking at the two.
"Uh," she looked to Michiru then back to her dad, "I think we are going to pass if that is okay?"
"Yeah sure," he replied. "Your mom and I will see you in a bit then." And with that Haruka's parent left with most of the family.
Haruka turned to her girlfriend, "So…shall we go back to my parent's house?"
Michiru wrapped her arm around Haruka's arm, "Sure."
Michiru looked out the side window of the car and watched all the different type of house that lined the street. Most of the houses looked like they were well lived in, almost inviting just like the Tenoh residence. The lawns were well kept as well as the bushes and trees were perfectly manicured. This city looked like a nice place to grow up in. A happy sigh escaped her lips as she watched a young child taking their dog for a walk with their parent's right behind them.
"What are you thinking about?" Haruka quickly glanced at her then back to the road.
"You…" Michiru looked to the blonde; she smiled at her lover who raised her one eyebrow.
"I was just thinking what it would have been like to grow up here. I wished I knew you when I was younger…" Michiru looked down at her lap, "I would have loved for you to meet my father before he had all his strokes."
Haruka brought her one free hand over to Michiru's hand that rested in her lap and placed her hand over top of it giving it a light squeeze. "I would have loved that…maybe then I wouldn't have turned out like the way I did."
Michiru frowned, "You turned out fine. You are the most loving caring person I know." Haruka gave Michiru's hand another squeeze before she let go of her hand. "I want to show you something," the blonde drove past the street they would have taken to go to her parent's house. They drove for a while before Haruka turned on the turning signal and pulled off the road and put the car in park and shut the vehicle off.
"Come on," Haruka undid her seat belt and opened the car door and got out. Michiru stared at the blonde as she left the car, she was very confused. Michiru followed the blonde out of the car; Haruka stood off to the side of the road and stared at a rather large tree.
Michiru now stood beside her. If you looked close enough at the trunk of the tree the bark was missing and there was huge crack that went almost from the bottom of the tree all the way to the top as far as you could see.
"What happened to the-"
"I smashed my car into it." Haruka cut her off. She knew she had to tell her, Haruka had been putting it off. She didn't want to remember what happened all those years ago. It still haunted her dreams from time to time.
Michiru's mouth hung open, "What?!" her heart leaped in her throat.
Haruka looked up to the sky, the stars twinkled brightly. She took a deep breath to try and calm her sudden nervousness.
"I just turned eighteen; graduation was very close. There was a party I got invited too, just some kids from school." She stuck her hands in her pockets. "I never had any alcohol; I drank bottles of water and a few sodas. But for some reason someone had slipped something in my water, I never even realised it." Haruka turned so she could look Michiru in the eyes.
"I got into my car and started to drive home. Whatever was in my drink didn't affect me right away…not until I was half away home." Haruka removed her one hand from her pocket and rubbed her neck. "The last thing I remember about that night was blinding light and then complete darkness."
Michiru stood there trying to take everything in that Haruka was telling her, she blinked a few times before she realized that Haruka had finished talking and now was staring at the tree again.
"Where- where you hurt?"
"Yeah…" teal eyes met concerned aquamarine. "I woke up in the hospital with a concussion, a few cracked ribs from the air bag going off and a couple of cuts on my face, arms and neck from the window breaking." She touched her neck at the memory of the bandages that covered her neck.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Michiru's was hurt; she thought the blonde trusted her.
"I…" Haruka took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She didn't want to talk about it not this part.
Michiru could see the hesitation in the blonde's face. She moved closer to her and wrapped her arm around her lover's waist "Ruka...you can tell me if you want to but if you don't that is alright too…it must be a scary memory." She leaned her head on Haruka's shoulder.
Haruka's shoulders sagged at the loving tone, tears pooled at the back of her eyes. She wouldn't let them fall though, she cried enough over her stupidity. She should have known something wasn't right with herself. She should have called her parents for a lift home and not got behind the wheel.
"I will tell you sweetheart but not here okay?" She looked down at Michiru. "Let's go back to my parent's house."
Haruka sat on her childhood bed and stared at the open closet, sitting on the top shelf was a stainless steel box that sat there mocking her. She hadn't opened it for over a decade.
"Ruka?" Michiru stood in the doorway; she stood there for some time just watching the blonde. Haruka glanced over to her; she smiled a sad smile then went back to staring at the closet. Michiru came further into the room and looked at what she was staring at. "What's in there?" Haruka just stared at her with a blank look in her eyes.
"May I look inside it?" Curiosity got the best of her. She always wondered how Haruka was when she was younger and when she was a teenager. Deni-su had shown her pictures of a younger blonde but never really told her much about how she acted as a youngster.
Haruka nodded her head in agreement. 'Maybe the stuff in the box could explain it better than I could.' She watched as Michiru stood on her tippy toes to reach the box. She watched as she opened it and took out it's contain and sat them on the bed. Her eyes closed as Michiru picked up each piece of paper and read its articles. A few minutes into her reading a small gasp escaped Michiru's lips, "Haruka," she brought her hand up to her mouth as she continued to read.
Haruka's heart beat raced in her chest, her breathing hitched. She felt a panic attack coming on. She hadn't had one in a long time but she remember the way it made her feel.
A hand clasped her knee gently, she opened her eyes and two loving eyes stared back at her.
"You need to breathe sweetheart." Michiru once seen Haruka have a panic attack and it scared her death.
Teal eyes stared intensely back at her making a shiver go up her spine. "You're alright Ruka, I am right here." She raised her hand and brushed her fingers over Haruka cheek causing her to lean into the tender touch.
"I love you…" it was a whisper but Michiru could hear it as clear as day. A wide smile formed on her lips, it always gave her goose bumps when she heard this endearment.
"I love you too."
This seemed to bring her Haruka back to reality, Michiru could feel her pulse slowing down back to normal and her breathing was less laboured. She looked to the small pile of news articles sitting beside the blonde and back up to her.
"Ruka-" before she could finish her thought Haruka cut her off.
"I killed her…" a single tear escaped Haruka's eye and rolled down her cheek and fall onto Michiru's hand that lay on Haruka's lap.
Michiru stomach tightened, "It was an accident Ruka…" she had read all the articles that were in the box.
A young mother was driving her car home from visiting her parents when a vehicle came into her lane and crashed into the side of it causing it to flip three times before it stopped resting on its roof. She later came to her injuries and died at the hospital; she left behind a beautiful two year old girl and a loving husband of five years of marriage. The driver of the other car was a young girl of eighteen years old, under the influence of an unknown substance. Her car crashed into a tree causing a head injury and several broken bones and cuts to the face. She is in stable condition at the hospital.
Michiru couldn't even fathom what Haruka had gone through and her family. 'Was this the reason she left home and moved so far away?'
Haruka placed her head in her hands covering her eyes with the palms of her hands. Michiru moved so she now knelt in front of her heart stricken lover. She brought her lips up to her forehead and lightly kissed her.
"I'm sorry…" it was a little muffled by Haruka's hands. She didn't want to feel this awful feeling again. She tried to get away from it, to leave it all behind her when she moved away but it found its way back again.
"I should have told you before; I am so ashamed of what I did to that family. I destroyed all their lives." Haruka finally looked to Michiru, "That is why I left and never came back…I shamed my family…every time I looked at my mother I felt guilty…that little girl will never be able to look at her mother ever again…why should I be able too."
Michiru gripped Haruka's hands. They were shacking uncontrollably. "I had to leave; I didn't deserve to be loved…" Haruka never told anyone this before and it felt good to finally get it off her chest.
Michiru needed to hug her; she ached to have her arms wrapped around this woman she loved more than anything. She stood from her knelt position. Haruka looked to her questioningly. Michiru stepped in between her legs and brought her hands around the blonde's neck bring her closer to herself. Haruka automatically put her hands around her waist and rested her head against Michiru stomach. She sighed in contempt.
They stood in each other's embrace, just happy to have a moment alone. A rumble of someone's stomach echoed through the room breaking the tension. Haruka looked up at Michiru "Are you hungry? Or do you have a bear in your stomach?" She chuckled as her stomach rumbled again.
"Nope," Michiru leaned her head down so she could kiss the blonde's head, "no bear in there."
Haruka looked up to Michiru's beautiful face, she smiled at the warmth she had in her eyes. She glanced at her lips then back to her eyes. Haruka grinned.
"What are you scheming in that head of yours?" Michiru knew that look all too well.
"You want to fool around? The house is empty…no parents…" Michiru shook her head no but her smile on her face told a different story.
Michiru brought her face in close to the blonde's face, "I've been waiting for you to ask all week."
Haruka pulled her in even closer than before, Michiru now straddled her lap, she missed sitting like this. Haruka ran her hands up her back under her shirt causing her flesh to get goose bumps which turned her on even more. She wanted the blonde right now. The first kiss was intense, each trying to take control. It's been so long. Their hearts beat faster and faster. Haruka pushed Michiru shirt up her back and over her head leaving her just in her navy blue bra. She leaned in and kissed her right between her breasts just above her bra. A moan escaped Michiru lips as she looked longing at her girlfriend. Nothing but love shone from her eyes. Michiru ran her fingers through her blonde hair bringing her even closer to her. Michiru brought her lips down and gently kissed her, she ran her tongue against the blonde's wanting entry which Haruka gladly obliged.
Michiru leaned into the blonde pushing her back so they now lay on the bed with all her weight on her. Michiru ran her hand up Haruka's shirt lightly brushing them against her flat stomach. Haruka moaned into Michiru mouth. Haruka slowly moved her hand up Michiru back again and slipped her one finger under the clasp of her bra.
The slamming of doors brought their movements to a halt; there eyes grew wide. A frustrated groan escaped Michiru's lips as she rested her head on Haruka's chest, "Seriously!?" She was so close to getting the blonde topless. Haruka kissed the top of her head.
"Sorry sweetheart…" her parents always had the worst timing. "I will make it up to you I promise."
Michiru got up off her and put her shirt back on, a devilish grin appeared, "Oh…you will my dear, you will."
The house was bustling with noise, people were running here and there trying not to get in any bodies way. Some were yelling and somewhere laughing, well others sat silently and watched the whole thing in amusement.
"Come on Haruka," Deni-su walked by her daughter who sat on the couch still in her pyjamas. "You should be getting ready," she lightly smacked her on the arm. The wedding was less than four hours away and everyone was panicking, there just wasn't enough time.
"Michiru is getting ready already…you should take her example and learn from it." Deni-su left her daughter sitting on the couch and went into the kitchen where some more family member sat. Haruka smiled at her mother's retreating form then decided to get up off the couch and go upstairs; just as mother suggested.
Her bedroom door was open slightly; she looked through the crack to see if she could see anything. Nothing like spying on your girlfriend, Haruka couldn't see anything so she opened the door and stepped in shutting the door behind her.
Sitting on the bed with her back to the blonde was Michiru, she held up a mirror as she applied her makeup. She looked into the mirror and saw Haruka standing there watching her with adornment in her eyes. She put the mirror down on her lap and turned a little so she could see the blonde with her own eyes.
"I think my mother likes you better?" Haruka stuck her bottom lip out and pouted like a little child.
Michiru eyes grew wide in surprise, "Oh really? What makes you say that?" she went back to her mirror and started to apply her eye liner.
"Ma said I should go get ready and that I should learn from your example of not waiting to the last minute to get ready." The blonde came and sat down beside Michiru careful not to touch her arm that she was using to put her makeup on.
Michiru giggled at her lover and loving patted her knee, "It is true though." She smiled at Haruka eye roll.
"Whatever you say," she stood from the bed and went into her closet in search of her tuxedo she was supposed to wear. Once she found it she placed it next to Michiru and zipped open the plastic that was protecting it. She took a deep breathe to steady her nerves. In a few hours she'd be standing up there with her cousin in front of all her family and Jasutin's fiancée's family watching.
She got changed into the pants and long sleeve dress shirt but didn't tuck it in quite yet, it was pretty warm outside. She was going to be sweating in no time.
"Haruka…" Michiru stood in front of the little mirror that hung on the back of the door and watched the blonde fight with her pants for a few seconds. The blonde looked over and her eyes grew wide at the reflection in the mirror, Michiru had on a beautiful dress. It was royal blue dress with spaghetti straps and a V-neck, little peals wrapped around the torso and a little ways past her hips. The bottom flowed as she moved her legs.
Haruka turned around fully and came closer to her, "Wow…you look…" she looked her up and down taking her in, "Stunning…" Haruka's stomach did a flip. It didn't matter how many times she had seen her in a pretty dress or just in her pyjamas her breathe would always hitch and her stomach would suddenly get butterflies.
"Can you zip me up?" Michiru could see the affect her dress was having on her lover. She brought her hair forward so Haruka could zip her dress up.
Haruka's hands rested on Michiru's back as she fiddled with a zipper, she slowly brought the zipper up running her finger along her back as she did this.
"There you go" Haruka kissed her shoulder.
"Thanks" she turned around and faced the blonde; she brought her hands up to Haruka's face and placed her hands on either side; she pulled the blonde closer to her and kissed her lightly. Michiru pulled away dropping her hands down to her sides, "We should probably get going, Jasutin still wants us to come to his house…"
"Yeah…" Haruka tucked her shirt into her pants and reached for her vest and suit coat, "I am going to be very hot…"
"That you are…" Michiru had a glint in her eyes.
The two made their way down stairs and into the noise of the house. "Wow don't you two look good," Haruka's grandmother sat in the living room with her outfit on for the night.
"Thanks." Haruka rubbed the back of her neck; she never got used to people complimenting her on her outfit.
"I want a picture," somewhere off in the kitchen Deni-su yelled at them. Deni-su emerged from the kitchen with her camera in hand; she stopped dead in her tracks she looked at her daughter and her friend. She smiled happily at them, "You look gorgeous Michiru, wow…" Deni-su came closer to them, "Doesn't she look gorgeous?" She looked to Haruka.
The blonde looked Michiru in the eyes; "She is beautiful…" she smiled lovingly at her. She loved this woman so much.
Michiru could feel herself blush; she had to hold herself back from kissing the blonde, "Uh thank you," She smiled politely at Deni-su.
"Okay…picture time." Deni-su got her camera ready, "Alright you two ready?" She looked at the cameras screen to make sure they were in focus.
"Yes…" Haruka wrapped her arm around Michiru's waist and brought her closer.
"Okay," She held the camera up a little higher and snapped the picture. "I'd like two more pictures if you don't mind, one of Haruka by herself and one of Michiru by herself." She looked between the two women. Haruka rolled her eyes in annoyance but agreed to do it for her mother.
Another ten pictures later and the two made their way outside to the car, "I like your mother…" Michiru couldn't wipe the huge grin off her face. Haruka's mother had a kind soul, always looking out for her family. Haruka smiled in return and got into the car, "Yeah I like her too."
The rent a car pulled up to Jasutin's house, the drive way was packed with cars and so were the spots on the road out front of the house. Haruka parked the car a few houses from his and got out.
"I'd hate to spend the night in there, with my aunt's rambling and repeating herself all the time," growing up Haruka had learned to stay away from Jasutin's house or better yet his mother. She was an alight aunt, she just wouldn't shut up or give Jasutin any space. She always wanted to know where he was and what he was doing. It drove him nuts when he got into his teenage years.
"You ready?" Haruka looked to Michiru for confirmation. Haruka took hold of Michiru's hand and led the way into unknown territory.
"I don't mind your aunt, she seems very nice," she did talk a lot but that didn't really bother her that much.
"Wait till you are around her for a long period of time," Haruka chuckled as they walked up the driveway.
"God Jasutin! Would you stop pacing?" Haruka had watched her cousin walk back and forth for the past ten minutes and it was starting to get on her nerves. She knew he was nerves but there was no reason for this back and forth walking.
"Sorry…" Jasutin put his hands in his dress pant pockets. "I'm nerves okay…" Haruka looked at him with a 'no duh' look on her face.
"Just think about this, in less than three hours you are going to see a beautiful sight; Hirari is going to walk toward you with her beautiful dress on. All eyes will be on her and the only person looking at you will be her. Once you see the love shining from her eyes your nerves will disappear in a second."
Jasutin looked at his cousin in disbelieve, where did that come from. He looked to Michiru then back to his cousin. "Wow Haruka, where did that come from? Did you read that in a romance novel or something?" He ducked his head as a flying pillow flow by.
"No…but what I say is true…you wait and see." The blonde crossed her arms over her chest in defense. Michiru lips curved into a bright smile, "I think I just fell in love with you more…" she whispered so the blonde could only hear her. She leaned against her and touched her leg as they sat on the couch. Haruka grinned, "You only think?"
Michiru jabbed her in the ribs with her elbow and rolled her eyes. Haruka chuckled and wrapped her arm around Michiru's shoulders bring her mouth mere inches from Michiru ear, "I love you too."
The church started to fill with different ones; everyone seemed excited and happy to be here. Jasutin stood at the front were hardly anyone was standing, his hands where in his pockets and he started to pace the floor again. Haruka watched from a distance as her cousin started to walk back and forth between the podium and the front seats.
"You are not seriously going to start pacing again…" Haruka now stood by the first row of seats where the bridesmaid's and groomsmen's where to sit. Jasutin looked up stopping in his track, "I need to see her…" it was a desperate plea.
"You can see her in…" she took out her cell phone and looked at the time, "43 minutes."
"It's not soon enough," he rubbed the back of his neck out of nerves habit –just like Haruka does when she is nerves.
"Patients cousin…" she patted him on the back.
Haruka stood beside Jasutin at the front of the church, Jasutin hands were shaking uncontrollably. The next people to come out of the doors at the back would be Hirari and her father. Haruka could feel the nerviness coming off of Jasutin. She leaned over to him, "Don't forget to breathe Jasutin, I wouldn't want you to faint." The blondish red hair nodded his head.
The doors opened revealing the bride and the bride's father. Everyone stood and turned to watch the bride walk down the aisle, Jasutin's breathe got caught in his throat, his heart beat increase. The nerves he left vanished into the air. Hirari and her father came closer and closer, finally she was up there with him and they held each other's hands.
"You look stunning," Jasutin whispered to his soon to be wife. "You don't look half bad yourself," Hirari winked at him causing butterflies to flutter in his stomach.
Haruka couldn't help but smile at the two. Growing up with Jasutin she never could picture him getting married and settling down. He always had friends that were girls but never a girlfriend. She knew if he found the right woman that could put up with his little quirks he'd marry her in a heartbeat.
Haruka's smile grew wider as the two said their vows to one another, her heart filled with warmth as the priest said the final last words 'you may kiss the bride.' The church erupted in applause as the newlyweds turned to face the crowd. Jasutin and Hirari basically jogged down the aisle trying to get ahead of everyone, they desperately wanted to get out of there.
Haruka still stood at the front and watched as the crowd dissipated leaving just a few behind.
"Hey…" Michiru stood beside her just barely touching her arm, "You did great Ruka." Michiru was so proud of her lover, being able to stand up there next to her cousin and not get to emotional.
"Thanks," Haruka reached out her hand for Michiru's and interlocked their fingers. Michiru leaned her head on her shoulder.
"Okay…I need the bride and groom up here please," the photographer looked around at all the people standing around. Jasutin and Hirari made there way through the crowd.
Haruka stood beside Michiru off to the side of everyone and watched her cousin and his new wife pose for different pictures.
"I'm happy for your cousin, he looks so happy." Michiru smiled at the happy couple.
"Me too…" Haruka reached her hand out and linked there pinkies together.
"What are you standing over here for?" Deni-su came up behind them startling them both. "Jasutin will want pictures of his favourite cousin…"
"I'm his only cousin…" Haruka looked to her mother.
Deni-su shrugged her shoulders, "You better get over there. I will keep Michiru company." She kindly smiled. Haruka looked to her mother then to Michiru uncertain. Michiru smiled reassuring. Haruka left her two favourite ladies behind as she made her way to her cousin. She's nervous leaving Michiru with her mother alone, but she did know Michiru could handle herself if need be.
"So…" Deni-su looked at the retreating form of her daughter. "How have you enjoyed yourself so far? It must be hard spending time with people you hardly know."
"I am actually enjoying myself. I always wonder what Haruka's family was like." Michiru nervously twisted her ring on her finger.
This brought on a huge smile on Deni-su face, "I'm glad."
The two stood in a comfortable silence and watched the groomsmen and braid maids get there picture taking.
"You care a lot for her don't you?" Michiru mouth went dry, her breathe hitched in her mouth, she was speechless. Michiru didn't dare look at her for fear of her being able to read her expression on her face.
"I see the way she looks at you…" Deni-su tapped her finger on her chin in thought. "She is so different now." Michiru still stood there unable to form words.
"Thank you…" Deni-su lightly touched her arm giving it a light squeeze. The smile never left her face. She left Michiru standing there and went off to find her husband.
"Wha…" Michiru was very much confused as to what just happened. Did Deni-su just admit that she knew about her and Haruka?
"Michiru!" the blonde was calling her name from across the room. Michiru blinked a few times trying to get her mind to focus.
"Michiru?" it wasn't a loud voice but she still could hear the worry in her lover's voice. She looked up, Haruka started to come toward her. "Are you alright? I have been trying to get your attention for a while."
Michiru nodded her head, "I'm alright…I didn't hear you." Teal eyes looked at her uncertainly, "Are you sure?"
Michiru nodded her head again, "Yup." She grabbed Haruka's arm and pulled her back to where she just came from.
Anjera stood in front of the podium and talked about Hirari and Jasutin and how she met Hirari and so on. Haruka sat there and watched her talk; she wasn't really listening but paying attention to her actions. She never understood why people who give these speeches at weddings get so emotional and actually cry. It's not like they are dying or leaving the country.
Applause broke her from her own thoughts, she looked to where Anjera stood a few seconds ago, and she was replaced with the MC. The MC looked to Haruka with a kind smile on his face. Haruka took a deep breathe calming her nerves –she did not like getting up in front of people. She stood and made her way to the podium with her piece of paper in hand. Haruka looked down to the microphone and adjusted it a little for her height difference from the MC's. She looked up and searched for familiar eyes that smiled back at her. She took another shaky breathe and looked to Jasutin and Hirari.
"When I was trying to think of what to say for my speech, I thought maybe an embarrassing story from our child hood would be good but then I thought it would probably embarrass myself as well and I didn't want to do that to myself." Haruka looked out to the crowd. "You see when Jasutin and I were growing up we'd do everything together. Our mother's kept telling us we were connected at the hip. We were each other's shadows. "
"I think it drove my aunt insane, Jasutin would always come home dirty, a little bruised, sometimes he would have a few cuts," Haruka couldn't help but chuckle at that statement. "But I always made sure he did come home, keeping him safe." Haruka looked back at her cousin, "You are more than my little cousin; you're my little brother that I never had."
"I was a little surprised you asked me to be your best man after all these years of not seeing each other but I am so happy you did. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but up here standing with you on the biggest day of your life. So thank you for letting Michiru and I to be a part of your day."
"Hirari, I have just met you a few days prior to your wedding but I can tell how much you love Jasutin, how you can handle his nonsense that he dishes out. So welcome to our crazy family and if you need any pointers just let me know…" Haruka winked at her playfully and chuckled as a big grin spread across Hirari's lips.
