Pokemon Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire
Chapter 10: And The Winner Is...
Amy47101: Well...I haven't really decided which: Frantic or Contest. I love them both! :O
Here's another short chapter cuz I am really busy. -_- I'm SO sorry. I'm brain dead from school.
My face. My face is on the screen. I push down the smirk that is trying to emerge, and look around the room for Drew.
Our eyes meet, and he gives me a look as if to say-"You made it, but we'll see if you can beat me." I wink at him confidently, and turn on my heel before heading out the door for my first battle.
…
"Mudkip, spin and use Water Gun!" I call, pointing at the Growlithe.
"Fire Spin!" Mudkip's water douses the flames immediately, and it jumps into the air before spinning.
"Knock 'em out!" I exclaim, a bit of Sapphire leaking out. I shake my head, and adjust back into May. "Now, for a sparkling finish...Bubble Beam the ground!"
"Muuud!" Bubbles cover the field, and surround the Growlithe who is too surprised to respond to its trainer. The bubbles explode, and send showering sparkles everywhere, knocking Growlithe out. I grin, and return Mudkip.
"Now, for our last battle of the day!" the MC says. "Drew, versus May!" I hold Mudkip's pokeball.
"We're gonna win this," I murmur, staring squarely at Drew. He pulls out a pokeball.
"Masqerain, go!"
"Mudkip, take the stage!"
"Battle begin!" The five minutes start, and I squint at him.
"Silver Wind!" My eyes widen. I don't remember him knowing this move...
"M-Mudkip, dodge!" Mudkip starts to move, but is caught up in the gust, and blown across the stage.
"Spin into a Tackle!" Drew says.
"Mud shot!" Masqerain twirls away, and slams into Mudkip. I feel a Sapphire growl bubbling up in my throat, but I cough, and point.
"Use Water Gun!" Mudkip blasts the opponent in the face, and I grin.
"Take that!" I cheer. "Use Mud Shot again!" Masqerain uses its wings to knock the mud aside, and slams into Mudkip again.
I bite my lip. It's obvious that Drew is more experienced, plus his pokemon is stronger than mine...
I clench my fist.
"Mudkip, use a Tackling Mud Shot!" Mudkip jumps up, and charges at Drew's pokemon.
"Mud kip kip!" Shots of mud hit Masqerain in the middle, and Mudkip slams into it seconds afterward. Drew smirks.
"Masqerain, Silver Wind!" Mudkip is thrown backwards, and hits me in the stomach. We go sprawling, and I look at my pokemon to see if it is okay.
"May's Mudkip is unable to battle, Drew is the winner!" I feel as if Mudkip had hit me a hundred times.
The results sink in, and I feel nauseated.
I lost.
That wasn't supposed to happen!
My stomach tightens, and I return Mudkip to its pokeball before rushing offstage.
"Congratulations Drew! How many ribbons is this now?"
"Two."
I cover my ears, and run out of the contest hall.
I don't want to hear this!
…
I check into a room at the pokemon center, and enter my room numbly. I'd left my pokemon with Joy when I got here, and now I can't really decide what I want to do.
Flopping onto my bed, I close my eyes and drift off, while rubbing the blue orb as it sits on the pillow beside my head. Dreams have always been something I've never had. I usually sleep in a gray daze, then wake up refreshed and ready to beat up some kids, but I guess there is a first for everything. The landscape around me shifts, and I find myself on an island.
The tide is lapping at the sand, and I am standing in the shallows. I don't see why I'd be here, because I don't particularly care for swimming...I'd rather swing through the forest on a vine.
Regardless of what I want. The dream continues to change. The sky begins to darken into a reddish black haze, and before my eyes, a volcano erupts, sending lava plumes everywhere.
I try to move my feet so that I can run, but they're glued to the spot. My eyes widen, and I look down at my feet to see what is wrong, instead, the water starts rising, and I attempt knocking away the water with my fists, but it doesn't work.
But that is not the worst part. A loud roar shatters the air around me, and I look straight forward to see a large pokemon with red eyes and a gaping mouth swimming towards me.
I open my mouth to cuss, but the pokemon bites down and everything goes dark.
…
"AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I scream, bolting up. Sweat pours down my face, and I wipe it out of my eyes. I look over at the blue orb, and for a minute, I almost think it's glowing, but I blink, and it isn't.
Shaking my head, I run to the shower to clean myself up, and mope about losing the contest. I don't have time to worry about stupid dreams.
They mean nothing.
Beating the crap out of Drew does!
Yeah. I wanted her to lose the contest. :D From here on out, it's going to get better, and the chapters will be longer. ^-^
