Chapter 10

Notes: Hello, so as promised, here's the next chapter. Am trying to wrap up the story before being plunged back into the chaos of RL. Thank you for sticking it out with me for this long. Reviews/comments are always welcome! Hope you like it! :)

Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, just playing with them in my head. Bits and pieces are borrowed from the show and are not mine. Similarly for the songs that are used.

"Yep, we just need you to do one last thing and then we can go" Steve added.

"What is it?"

"What you need to do, is to just put this on" Steve answered.

"But, what does it do?" she asked, eyeing the piece of jewelry on Steve's gloved hands.

"This might not make much sense to you now, but it will, after…" Pete supplied.

"This was something of yours, the old you, something you treasured dearly, taken away for safekeeping after your identity was changed."

"Plus it will help get Myka back," Steve thrown in for good measure.

"Go on, everything will be clear soon enough," Pete encouraged.

She would do anything to help get Myka back home safely. Carefully, she took the jewelry from Steve's hands. The moment her fingers came into contact, it hit her, the memories came rushing back.

Her face frowned in confusion before a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She knew that the memories that came back wasn't everything she knew/had but it was enough for now. For the memories that came back had filled that emptiness and longing in her heart, that part in her heart which Myka had always held. The Myka that she now remembered so clearly, her Myka, and that, that was enough to spur her on.

Coming down from her rush, she glanced back and forth at her two fellow agents. New found determination and hope was clearly evident on their faces.

She nodded and said, "Alrighty then, let's get Myka back."

"Right.. Here we are, now where to…" mumbled Pete, eyes darting around.

"Now, we head down" Helena pointed out, moving towards a door which clearly stated 'EMPLOYEES ONLY'.

Moving past the more 'used' employee area, they headed down another flight of stairs. Darker than the level above, they threaded carefully with their weapons drawn.

Beads of sweat trickled down as they moved further down the stairs, preparing for the fight that's bound to come, only to find a large vacant space of nothing but bare concrete.

The agents scanned every inch of bare concrete available to them, hoping to find something, anything at all, a clue, a door maybe and then..

"H. G!" Pete hollered from his spot. "What was that swirly eye thing you and Artie mentioned?"

"It's called the Eye of Horrus" Helena spoke, internally eye rolling at Pete's description as she brushed Pete aside to get a closer look at what Pete had found.

"And indeed it is.." she muttered, pushing the symbol on the wall.

A mechanism was set into motion, and a door hidden in plain sight slid open.

"And.. What do you know? A secret door.."

"Good job Pete" Helena threw over her shoulder as she entered.

"Hello agents, I've- Oops I meant we've been waiting for you" the dark haired stranger gestured to Myka slumped in the chair.

The agents immediately raise their guns, ready to fire at the unknown stranger when suddenly both Pete and Steve were engulfed in an eerie green glow of light, immobilizing them.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you" the stranger stated simply, placing the barrel of her gun against Myka's temple, shocking the partly conscious brunette awake.

"Now, I'm pretty sure you're well aware of the.. How do I put it.. effects of that" the stranger said, gesturing her free hand to the lantern on the wall, angled specifically to shine only on Pete and Steve.

"After all, you were the one who'd successfully found it those many years ago.."

Of course Helena would be well aware of the effects, Jack the Ripper had struck so much fear and despair in the hearts of many during her time.

"Who are you? And what do you want?" Helena cautioned, gun still raised, keeping Myka in her peripheral view who seemed to be drifting in and out of consciousness.

"I suggest you put your weapon down, slowly. Then, we can talk" the dark haired lady said as she pressed her gun harder into Myka's temple.

Finally relenting, Helena lowered her gun and slowly placed it onto the ground.

"Good. Now kick it over."

Seeing the hesitation, she grabbed a fistful of Myka's hair, gun still on her temple and yanked Myka's head back causing the semi-conscious Myka to cry out in pain.

Unwilling to let Myka suffer further in the hands of this stranger, she did as she was told.

"Now, shall we begin?" she asked, laughing sinisterly.

"You see.. I've been watching. All of you and right now, your dear friend, Myka.." she paused, emphasizing on the name, gun in hand, eyes trained on Helena.

"Is sat in one of your other, old friend's creation, the chess lock and should you fail, she would join the people who came before her" she said, gesturing to the lock mechanism above and the pile of bones on the ground, with the front of their skulls cracked open.

"Then you should know that the Janus coin was destroyed" Helena spoke calmly.

"And yet, here you are, speaking with such a clear, crisp British accent.. Agent Wells" she mocked.

"And what makes you so sure that I am aware of whom you're referring to, let alone being able to open the lock?"

"Let me refresh your memory then. Your old friend Catarunga sure writes about you, a lot and now someone you care about is stuck in this entrapment of his."

"Unlocking it would be the only way to free dear Myka… Right love?" she asked, stroking the barrel of her gun along the length of Myka's face only to let it rest under her chin.

Myka's eyelids fluttered as her head thumped against the back of the chair.

"Tick tock now love.." the stranger now directed the statement at Helena.

"Or would you like me to wake Myka up proper now?" she taunted, her free hand raised in the air, ready to strike across the younger agent's face.

"N-NO!" Helena snarled, moving closer.

"M-Myka.." she tried, moving even closer, trying to reach Myka.

"Uh-uh" the stranger cautioned, placing her finger on the trigger of her gun, gesturing for Helena to step back.

She glared at the stranger but took a step back. Clenching her fists at her sides, she calmed herself before calling out to Myka again.

"Myka, Myka dear, I need you to wake up now" she tried.

Slowly, Myka shifted out of consciousness, not simply because of the voice calling out to her but also due to the sudden surge of urgency, rage, and worry that flooded through her. She blinked out her confusion only to be greeted by a sight which left her eyes wide in shock.

"Myka dear, I need you to listen to me" Helena continued, the urgency of her voice brought Myka's eyes back to her. Finally, it dawn on her that somehow the 'connection' they shared seems to be working both ways now.

"H-helena?" she managed to choke out, before being shushed by the gun now back at her temple.

"I'm going to get you out of here, I promise. Now, I need you to move the chess pieces as I tell you, to unlock this mechanism" Helena continued gently.

"Oh, I think you should add in that should you fail, her skull would crack open" the dark haired lady scoffed as she eyed the blade above Myka.

Following her captor's gaze, Myka spotted the blade, her eyes started to tear as fear trickled further down her spine.

Helena felt Myka's fear reaching her as it matched the fear that was roiling in the pit of her stomach. She squeezed her eyes shut, taking in a breath to focus on what she remembered. Doubtful, she opened her eyes meeting that of Myka's. Their gaze interlocked and in that brief moment, she saw complete and utter faith within the depths of the younger agent's eyes.

Looking at the table, she finally let out a breath.

"Queen's bishop to H4."

"Check" Myka mumbled, yelping as the blade above drew closer.

Helena jumped, losing her composure.

"Some of us don't have all day now.." came the voice, slightly amused, tingeing on impatience. She had moved away from Myka, to better observe the exchange, however she still kept her gun trained on her.

"H-Helena" Myka spoke, clenching her teeth, enduring the pain in her head, trying to focus Helena's attention back on her.

Finally, catching Helena's gaze. "I trust you." She said, as clear and confidently as she could.

Nodding slightly, Helena brought her eyes back to the table before her and then she remembered.

"Myka, D3 to E8."

Myka did so without hesitation.

*Whirr* *Click* *Click*

The blade pulled back on itself and returned to its original position, releasing the catch around Myka's neck and wrists. Helena sighed in relief as Myka sagged back against the chair, taking in shuddering breaths.

"Fantastic!" came the maniacal laugh, as she pressed a button on her phone.

Nothing seemed to happen as the two agents stared at her in confusion.

"OH, trust me, you'll see~" she sing songed.

*BOOM*

The warehouse shook as the shot fired made impact with a sudden blue electric barrier that surrounded the warehouse.

Alarmed, Artie had Claudia bring up images on the barrier and at the B&B while he Farnsworthed Mrs Frederic.

"Mrs F-"

"Artie, the warehouse is under attack" she responded, barely waiting for Artie to finish.

"The Remati shackle sensed an attack and has activated a protective barrier around the warehouse" Jane added in.

"Jane? What are you-"

"Had a bad vibe" she supplied, cutting Artie off for the second time.

"Where is the attack-"

"It's coming from outside the B&B, from a canon" Claudia supplied this time.

"Wh-what?!"

Bringing up the images of the B&B on her computer, she showed them.

"It's Black Bart's canon.." Artie muttered.

"I see it, it's right out here!" Lena called over, from one of the windows, having felt the tremors and having heard the conversation.

"I think it's being remote controlled" she added, seeing no one by the canon, and a device attached to it.

"I might be able to disconnect it, I'll be right over" Claudia said through the Farnsworth.

"I'm afraid you can't" came Jane's reply.

"With the barrier activated, no one can go in or out of the warehouse."

"That's great isn't it, the warehouse would be protected from intruders and at least it's under control" Artie said, slightly skeptical.

"Yes, but it would not stop whatever that is already on the inside" Mrs Frederic stated calmly.

"Great.." Artie mumbled, already searching through the system for any abnormalities with Claudia's help, the canon all but forgotten.

The sanctum shook as loose concrete fell from above. The bare concrete slab before them shimmered as a bright glow of orange substance slowly spread through it, revealing an open doorway that led straight to the warehouse.

"There we go~" came the dark haired lady's voice filled with pride and excitement.

The hidden doorway to the warehouse was not what shocked the agents, but the man that stood waiting behind it, with a crateful of what they can only presume were artifacts.

"Hello agents" He greeted them as he pushed the crate through the doorway, following suit.

"Unbelievable. Mr Kosan?" Helena muttered.

"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not" came the short, curt reply.

"We're all set Al, ready to leave on your cue" he said, turning his attention to the dark haired lady with her gun still raised.

"Right then, device in place?" she arched her eyebrows in question to her comrade in which she received a nod in response.

"As much as I would love to stay and enjoy the fun lovelies, I'm afraid it's time for us to leave" Al smirked.

"Hang on" Helena said, having regained her composure.

"Just who are you?" she asked.

"Let's just say.. I inherited the better parts of my father's genes.." came the reply, her eyes flashed solid black for a moment before returning to its original piercing shade of green.

"Artieee!" Claudia bellowed, mouth slightly ajar as she tugged on his sleeve trying to get his attention.

"W-what.." words dying on his lips as his gaze followed Claudia's finger pointed towards a strange bursting orange glow of light coming from the back of the warehouse.

"Oh, no, no, no.." Artie stuttered as he rushed out of the office, down the stairs and towards the source of danger, tesla in hand.

Claudia followed, right at his heels, updating Mrs Frederic and Jane over the Farnsworth, while running after Artie.

Rushing towards the orange glow which was now apparent to them within closer distance that it was a doorway from the Regent Sanctum, the glow seem to dissipate slowly, closing in on itself, effectively closing the doorway, with the last thing they heard being gunshots fired.

"Noooo" Artie huffed, pulling at his hair. "Call Pete. Now."

"No more questions now love, I'm afraid we really must take our leave" the dark haired lady, now only known as Al said, as she pressed yet another button on her phone. This time a sizzling sound could be heard before the doorway in which Mr Kosan had passed through began to close.

"And I suggest, saving your friends rather than trying to take us down. I'm afraid they don't have much time left, especially dear Myka" she taunted, the corner of her lips twitching.

"Not after this" she added as she shot Myka in the chest, while Mr Kosan knocked Helena off her feet without warning.

With a smug smile on her lips, she pressed the button on her phone again, quickly firing another shot from the canon to the warehouse, keeping the agents within still entrapped as they made their escape.

"Not good" Artie muttered, as they could not get through to Pete and the rest. It was evident there was nothing they could do on this side, for now.

"Claudiaaa, see what you can do about disconnecting that blasted cannon from here" he bellowed.

"On it" Claud replied, checking in with Lena the details on the device attached to the cannon.

They scrambled back to the office as Artie kept trying the Farnsworth.

Struggling back onto her feet, she contemplated her odds on saving Myka on her own or with the help of her two fellow agents. Making her decision quickly, she chose the latter, making quick work of cautiously disarming the lantern without killing her friends in the process.

Ignoring the metalling buzzing, most probably coming from the other agents' pocket, she rushed to Myka's side.

"Myka, Myka, stay with me now darling" Helena shook her gently, trying to keep her awake.

Pete and Steve took several moments to recollect themselves after being transfixed by the lantern for so long.

"H-Helena.." Myka managed, so softly.

"I'm right here, I promise you're going to be alright" Helena held Myka in her arms, squeezing her hands which were quickly turning cold.

"Peteeee" she called out, voice shaking with urgency, snapping Pete out of his daze slightly quicker than Steve.

Pete rushed over helping to get Myka up. Finally snapping out of the lantern's effects, Steve reached down for the Farnsworth as he quickly took in the situation, rushing out and up to get help as he answered the Farnsworth.

With the help of a few of the restaurants' employees, they had managed to rush Myka to the hospital with Helena never leaving her side. As the ambulance whisked away, the other two agents followed suit in their vehicle, Steve updating Artie as they moved.
