Dear Diary,

It's May 6, 2016.

As I lay here in my hospital bed, I cannot help but worry about Fallen. She took a really nasty hit from Spacegodzilla's Corona Beam during their fight, losing a substantial amount of flesh over her face and charring some of the bone. I can only hope that she, like Godzilla, is incredibly resilient in her healing.

Oh but I suppose I must back up a second. I sensed it during their fight, but at the time I was too weak to recognize what the sensation in my mind meant. Fallen is female. The poor thing's face… I have never been so glad for Godzilla's strength as I was when he drove Spacegodzilla away. Spacegodzilla has gotten away with too much for far too long. I can only hope that next time Godzilla destroys him outright.

But Fallen, is she well? Is she healing properly? I do not know enough about the Godzilla family to know the answer for sure yet. All I can do is hope, and keep my senses open to them as they go about their business. Godzilla spent two weeks in the mid Bering Sea between Russia and Alaska, doing what I don't know. Keiichi said he literally just made it to the middle of the sea, sat there for a time, and then left. Keiichi got some reports about another monster in the area, but he was vague on the details. All he did was give me this comparison: "This thing is a snake, and Spacegodzilla was a tadpole."

I hope he was just trying to be funny, because if he was being serious then we have a massive problem on our hands… one which I'm not sure even Godzilla can overcome.

Beneath the waves…

Beneath the moon…

Beneath the stars and the skies above, something stirred in the dead of night.

Her eyes opened slowly, pain shooting through her head from the base of her skull to the frontal lobe on her forehead. She let out a groan, shifting uncomfortably on her resting place as she looked outside to see what was going on. There in the water was her friend, her comrade. He was swimming about nervously while waiting for their leader to return. It had been some time since they had fed, and even longer since they had all actually spent any real time together.

She shifted her weight and slowly made it to her feet, her head just shy of the low hanging ceiling above. Her room was a circular shape opening into the world beyond the doorway which was just large enough for their leader to pass through. It did help that he'd made it in the first place. She made her way outside and went to swim beside her comrade, who joyously greeted her by swimming a circle around her and stopping in front to examine her.

The scars were still there, but the flesh was healing. No more bone showing nor blood spilling out every few minutes with even the slightest change of facial expression on her part. Her neck and shoulder were a similar story, both healing well with mild scarring which would also soon disappear. He let out a small cry of happiness, to which she joined him. They swam in a circle around one another before stopping short as they heard the call of their leader slicing through the waters around them.

They looked out to sea towards where the cry had come, but there was only darkness to greet them.

Slowly, out of the haze, he appeared.

First was his face, the light of his eyes cutting through the darkness as if it wasn't even there. His shoulders and spines were next, followed by the rest of his body appearing through the darkness of the water. He swam at incredible speeds the likes of which they could not hope to match, and stopped just short of slamming into them. The wave of pressure hit them, moving them both back several dizen meters before they finally steadied themselves and made it back to their previous position.

The look he gave them was somewhat intimidating, as he was much larger than they were and much more powerful. Being in the presence of an alpha such as this was hard enough, but when he directed his attention towards them it was even worse. Thankfully after a moment of examination, alpha softened his gaze.

He swam forward and inspected her, swimming a slow circle around her while checking her neck, shoulder, face, and the back of her head. He was satisfied with her healing rate, but he wanted to expedite it. She needed sustenance, and she wasn't going to find the necessary amounts here. It was time to move, time to feed. He let out a bellow, indicating they were to follow him. As he turned to leave, they followed without question. Together the three of them swam in silence, with the two youths examining his swimming style and noting how easy he made it look.

His tail undulated back and forth, but his torso and legs barely moved at all. As slow as the undulations seemed, it effortlessly propelled him through the water at high speeds. They were having difficulty keeping up, as they also didn't have the stamina he possessed. Every so often they would need to stop and rest before continuing on, and when they did he would keep swimming the same way. They both tried their hand at swimming the way he did, but they found that it only slowed them down.

In conclusion, they realized that this clearly demonstrated the difference in strength. For them, swimming with only their tail was a slow and steady method, yet he was doing so with amazing speeds. If it was as easy for him to use the method as it was for them, then they had a long way to go before reaching his level. He was just that much stronger, that much more powerful in every way. Such a simple and energy efficient method of propulsion, yet he was tearing through the water as if it were not but a leisurely swim.

They all swam together for two days before finally surfacing, and when they did, they saw the human military there to greet them. They were only about a mile away from shore and their destination, a nuclear power plant where they could feed and grow stronger. But the military was in their way, and both of the youths were a bit nervous as they were still not used to combat.

Alpha, however, was unmoved. He turned and looked both of them, jerking his head towards the military indicating he wanted them to take care of the issue. He floated silently and stoically, watching the military's every move and noting their positions. The two of them swam passed him before arching their bodies upright mimicking a standing position. The military's response was almost immediate, and they sent a warning shot by firing a few missiles into the water in front of the two youths. They looked back at alpha, and his glare was all that needed to be said.

They turned back towards the military and moved forward, ignoring the warning shot and making their way towards the plant.

The military once again opened fire. This time, however, there were no warning shots. Each one hit its target, mostly striking their mid and upper chest though a few of them did target the neck and head. For her, it was still painful and caused an almost immediate headache when she was struck in the head. For him, it wasn't so bad. He almost didn't feel some of them when they hit his chest. It was more like a pinch than anything else, and nothing he couldn't deal with. She grit her teeth and let out a roar of frustration and anger as her head began throbbing, and made her way towards the nearest ship floating on the water's surface which continued to fire at her.

Her upper lip curled in a snarl, and her spines began to light up along her back from her tail to her skull. The energy coursed through her body as excess heat was expelled through her spines. Some of the energy was visible within her mouth as it opened and she took aim ahead. The ships knew what was coming and tried to move, but they were not fast enough. She lurched forward, unleashing a powerful blast which tore across the surface of the water throwing walls of steam high into the air before shredding the main battleship a good distance away. The ship exploded after catching fire, and the other ships continued to try and retreat while still firing upon her and her comrade.

He was having a better time than she was, eagerly marching forward through the water and tearing at one of the battleships with his claws and prevent them from continuing their attacks. He too began charging his own attack, his spines lighting up along his back as he unleashed the devastation that was his thermonuclear breath. As with his kin, the water turned into steam the moment the attack struck it and the first ship to fall victim to his assault caught fire and exploded. He glared angrily at the ship which exploded, looking to the others as he continued forward to finish them off.

It took only a few minutes, and all the ships had either retreated or were destroyed outright. The sea was in flames, the two youngsters floating and examining their work, and the alpha swimming nearby observing the whole thing. He had been marginally satisfied with their performance, and it was now time for them to conclude their business here. He knew he didn't need anything more from this place, but they most certainly did.

Alpha gave out a single roar, and the two youngsters continued forward to the plant. Their feet touched the earth, and the sound of their footsteps reverberated through the surrounding area. Step by step, stomp by stomp, they marched forward until they had reached their destination. They could feel the radiation within, and they tore away at the building until they revealed the core within. They looked to each other, wondering who should take the prize first. A moment of silence persisted until the young male backed away to allow her the opportunity to partake of the spoils of battle. She leaned forward, grasping the core in her claws and ripping it free almost effortlessly. As she stood up, she could feel the radiation spilling free in droves and she opened her mouth holding the device close to her chest.

It was ecstasy.

Her spines illuminated as her body filled with power. Her hands trembled and her feet tingled as her body began to crackle and sparkle with energy until she had consumed all she could bear. She looked to her kin and handed him the core, allowing him too to partake of the spoils. He grasped the core and held firm, holding it to his chest as his body too began to absorb the radiation leaking into the environment. His spines illuminated and sizzled with light and power as he opened his mouth and let out a soft roar. His grip tightened, crushing the metal in his hands but it did nothing to stop the core's radiation from spilling out into the world around him. Once his body had absorbed all it could, he dropped the core at his feet, and the two of them turned to the alpha who was now on shore and walking their direction.

He stood over a third taller than they did, walking up towards them like the wrath of god as his body too began absorbing the radiation spilling into the environment. However, by contrast to his smaller kin, his spines did not illuminate. That only took place when their bodies had absorbed and process enough power to stimulate their internal power stores and trick their bodies into thinking that they were activating their thermonuclear breath. Excess heat and unnecessary elements of the radiation were ejected through the spines, causing the light and sparks, while only the radiation they needed was absorbed and transformed into pure energy for their bodies. For the alpha, his body was not absorbing enough power to activate that process. For him, this was an appetizer.

The radiation in the area was almost completely gone now, save for that which was radiated naturally from their bodies. An entire nuclear plant completely sucked clean of power and radioactive waste which was released upon the destruction of the core by three creatures. Together, they turned away and walked back into the water. One by one they disappeared beneath the waves, with the alpha going last. However, before he submerged, he turned to face the humans who he could sense gathering on the shore. Military and civilians alike stood on the sandy beaches watching him and his kin, and Godzilla released a powerful roar splitting the air to send the human race a warning.

With that, the alpha submerged and disappeared beneath the waves.

… *Ring*…

… *Ring*…

"Hello?"

"Miki, it's Keiichi. I have some bad news," he said softly.

"What is it?"

"They attacked a nuclear power plant yesterday. It's estimated that over eight hundred soldiers lost their lives and nearly one hundred as well as thirty civilians and power plant workers."

"… I see," she responded quietly.

"It's bad Miki, and I heard from a contact of mine that the government is thinking about using a nuclear warhead on them."

"And?"

"Miki… That's almost twenty-eight Megatons of power headed their way. Do you have any concept of how much power that is or how much heat is released during such explosions? Even Godzilla would be vaporized into nothing," he said.

"Okay," Miki responded.

"… Miki, are you all right?" He asked.

"I'm fine," she said.

"You don't sound it. I just told you that Godzilla and the two young ones will die if we don't do something to prevent it," he said urgently.

"I know, I heard you."

"Then why are you so calm?" He demanded.

"I am worried about them, but there's no point in panicking Keiichi. I trust Godzilla, and I know that he wouldn't be doing this without a good reason."

"And that reason would be?"

"I don't know, but I know that I trust him."

Keiichi sighed.

"All right Miki. I'll keep an eye on them for now, and I'll keep you and the others updated as best I can. But just know Miki that if the nuke is approved, Godzilla and both of the younger ones going to die and there will be nothing we can do to stop it from happening."

"… I know Keiichi," she said quietly.

"Miki, you should talk to Akiko. You are acting far too indifferent right now, and frankly I'm getting very worried about you."

"Goodnight Keiichi," Miki said, hanging up the phone.

She stared at the phone for a moment, letting out a small huff of irritation through her nose.

"… Indifferent…" She whispered to herself.

Her lips curved into a frown as she lay back in her hospital bed, still staring at the phone.

"… What do you know?" She said angrily as she pushed the phone off of the table.
