Chapter Ten: Darkness
"Doctor! Doctor!" I scream in the black mist. Running to find anything but the darkness. But to no use. There was nothing but the cold, empty void. It's madness. That's what it's doing to me. The empty void feels likes it's crushing me; laughing at me while pursuing its next victim.
"Clara! Clara where are you" That's the Doctor's voice! I know all of his voices by heart and that is definitely his.
"Doctor! Doctor where are you?" I called through the darkness, reaching for the Doctor as if I can touch him with my voice.
"Clara! I'm over here, Clara! Quickly! I need you!" I can hear the Doctor's voice filled with fear. I have to find him, now!
"Doctor! I can't see a thing!" Then I heard a blood churning scream from the Doctor. "Doctor? Doctor!"
"Clara! Save me!" His pleas of help made me run faster; content with saving the Doctor, but I cannot see him. I don't even know where he was screaming from. His cries of help were all around me.
"Clara! Clara, please!" I can hear his voice getting fainter.
"Doctor!"
"Clara!" And then silence. I can no longer hear anything. Just emptiness. Emptiness which is the void.
"Doctor?" Nothing. "Doctor!" I ran and called out for the Doctor, but to no avail.
There's nothing in this void. In my heart I knew that I had failed. The Impossible Girl has failed. Me, the only person in the entire existence created to protect the Doctor, and I had failed.
"Clara." Did I just imagine that? "Clara." No, the voice is real! "Clara." It sounds like it's coming in front of me. I ran forward and came upon a face I do not recognize.
It's a girl's face. She looks to be only fifteen years old. Pale skin; long, straight black hair pulled back; wearing filthy, torn up, white clothes that lost its original color—which appears to be a long time ago—and appears to be way to big for her. But what I am staring at are her eyes. Eyes tells the person's life story: their memories, their emotions. But I am looking into her big, black eyes and I see nothing.
"Clara." She spoke in a soft voice.
"How do you know my name?" I asked this mysterious girl.
"Clara, you must not try to save the Doctor." she told me, ignoring my question entirely.
"What do you mean? Who are you?" I said with commandment, growing angry at this girl telling me to not help the Doctor. Who is she to tell me to not save someone?
"Clara, there are other people who need your help now. And if you put all of your effort into trying to find the Doctor, people will die. Good people will suffer. The human race will fall to its knees. Unless you are there to help."
It takes me a minute to process what she told me, but I finally say, "Where is he."
"Asking that question was your first mistake." She flat-out told me.
"What do you mean?" I asked, edging her to tell me more.
"You will figure it out in ten seconds."
I feel shaking all over me.
"His name is Lucas." Those were her last words before the mysterious girl disappeared.
I woke up, seeing a brown man shaking me awake.
"Wake up."
Hearing the urgency in his voice I got out of bed. "What is it?" I asked.
"It's Noah, he's been murdered."
