Nessa woke up about three weeks after her attack, which even I found odd, but that's not all. She doesn't remember who attacked her, she doesn't even remember leaving the room, and everyone believes her. Since everyone believes she didn't leave the room they're starting to think that I hurt her and left her for dead… There are only three people who really believe me: Arron, Liir, and Zedekiah. Magic is defiantly involved, as to who did it, well… I don't even know where to start.
Onto an even stranger note, Nessa practically gave me her blessing to be with Zedekiah, only because Quillam is the most handsome man ever. Not. He looks like a boy, if you ask me. Seriously, I don't understand her. Plus, she's insanely happy for someone who was upset. Besides the fact that I hated Zedekiah for thinking I was my sister and following the lies of the curriculum he's started to… Grow on me. It could be the fact that he was there for me when Ness was in the infirmary and when the lies started to spread. Not that Liir wasn't there for me, or Arron (well, let's face it, he was nowhere to be found at all), it's just… Zedekiah was there more. I went to him... More.
-History-
"Liir, hand everyone's report back." Zedekiah said handing him a stack of papers, "I'm sorry that it took me a while to grade, but this being a college course I have to be very thorough with your papers."
Liir had just handed me my paper, I set it on my desk and listened to Zedekiah intently.
"Most if your papers seem very repetitive and the only reason I would expect that is if you only had one or two sources when you were supposed to have five. There were only four people who gave five or more sources," He looked at me, "Thank you Liir, Nessarose, Alethea, and Filía for not wasting my time in grading."
He wasn't happy. He looked disappointed. I would be too, if it were me...
"This is college, NOT high school. The next paper I give you, if you don't have five sources you will receive an automatic zero. I will not waste my time grading something that doesn't have the correct number of sources." He took a moment to calm himself, "Now look over your papers and if you have any questions about it let me know. If you don't I suggest that those of you who need more sources, start rewriting your paper and it will be due after Lurlinemas break. You're lucky you're even getting a second chance. Most teachers wouldn't have."
Great Oz… Remind me to stay on his good side. Or at least not waste his time… If you haven't guessed already he's ticked. I would be too if my time was wasted by several papers not following instructions. I raised my hand; I wanted to know what the four of us should be doing. You know, since we don't have a paper to rewrite.
"Yes, Filía?" He said as calmly as he could but he was still irritated.
"What would you have the four of us do? You don't expect us to just sit here and be more bored than we already are, do you?" I asked as he smiled.
"You four are more than welcome to leave early, and you don't have to come in tomorrow. Not since it'll be another work session." He said opening a book.
Alethea, Liir, Ness, and I gathered our books and walked out of the classroom.
"Well… Now I know how to stay on his good side. Do the assignment the right way." Liir said, "So, how about we celebrate."
"I will gladly accept your invitation." Alethea said linking her arm in his.
"Eh why not, I have to wait for Quillam anyway." Ness said.
"I'll stay until Quillam shows up, but then I'm leaving." I said.
"Come on, the kid isn't that bad." Liir said.
"Unlike you'll I like to get a jump start on my homework."
"Fine, I won't argue with you. I never win anyway." Liir said walking down the hall with Alethea still linked in his arm.
It wasn't long until Quillam showed. I said goodbye to the ones I'd really care about and to the others I would give no time of day for. Part of me wanted to see how Zedekiah was doing and if he needed any help but at the same time I felt that I shouldn't hang around him too much, otherwise people might... Who am I kidding; they'll find out that we're together. Although there is a difference between going to him and running into him... Literally. I swear it felt like the ball all over again.
"You just can't stay away can you?" He asked grinning as we picked up papers before they flew away.
"I'm just glad it was paper and not
a drink." I said handing him the papers I had collected.
"As am I, it was a beautiful dress though."
"That wretched thing? I looked hideous in it."
"And why would you say that?" He asked while we walked toward the park.
"It was pink. I don't do pink. I would have rather worn the ugliest dress in the world before wearing pink."
He chuckled, "It's you opinion against mine, but I think you would have gone with pink over an ugly dress."
I smiled.
"So, how's your sister?"
"She's good. Even though she acts like she was never attacked. It almost scares me."
"Why?"
"If you were just attacked and woke up not remembering a thing, would you act like it never happened? Would still feel safe a night?"
"I see your point."
"At least someone does. Well," I said seeing that we were close to the girls' dorm, "This is where we part."
"Thank you for running into me and the nice chat." He grinned, "I'll see you around."
-My Room-
I sat on my bed with three or four books laid out on my bed and prices of paper on my lap. I heard giggling outside and assumed it was Nessa, but it took her forever to open the door. She and whoever she was with were quiet disturbing. So, doing what seemed to be a good thing, I got up and opened door. I was expected Nessa and one of her annoying, giddy friends to be at the door, not red head Alethea.
"If the two of you are going to keep this up, I suggest you go somewhere else." I said.
"Lighten up Filí." Alethea said, "You need to learn to have fun."
"First off it's Filía. Secondly, I know how to have fun; I just choose not to have it with you."
Whatever they were giggling about had stopped. Alethea looked hurt, but I didn't care. I went back to my bed leaving the door open.
"I'll see you tomorrow Ness." She said walking away.
Ness closed the door, laid her jacket across her desk saying, "That was rude."
"Since when did you become friends with the girl that tripped you at the ball? I thought you hated her?"
"We had a miss understanding."
"Whatever." I said going back to my homework.
Nessa pulled out one of many of her nice dresses. She put it on, did her hair and then her makeup. And started to look for a purse or bag of some sort. Being Nessa, making a lot of noise.
"Nessarose Arduenna, what are you doing?" I asked a little irritated.
"Looking for my clutch." She said digging through her closest.
"Can you do it a little quieter?"
"Found you!" She yelled holding it above her head in victory, "Now where did I out the one I was using?"
I closed all of my books with force and gathered them in my bag.
"Where are you going?" She asked looking for her other bag.
"Library, it's the only place you can get some quiet nowadays."
"Aren't you curious as to where I'm going?"
"Curiosity killed the cat, and I'm pretty sure that I know where you're going." I said making my way to the door.
"And where's that?"
"A date." I said closing the door behind me.
The rest of the afternoon was uneventful, just about the way I like it. I'm glad that Lurlinemas break is next week I need a break from every one! I just need my own space; I need time to myself… When did Ness become friends with Alethea? Ness hated her for tripping her at ball, how in Oz was that a misunderstanding? What is going on? It's like I don't even know her anymore. First Quillam, now Alethea, next thing you know she'll actually look forward to going to class.
-Next Day: During Lunch-
"After almost 4 months, you finally decide to join me for lunch." Liir teased as I took a seat across from him.
"I can handle Quillam, but Alethea… I'd rather kill myself." Liir laughed as Arron decided to join us.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"Filía's going to kill herself."
"Why?" He asked rather quickly.
"I'm not going to kill myself; I was only thing about it. It's rather stupid anyway, no need to worry."
"Okay… But don't, if you ever consider it your only option." Arron said.
"I'm not going to kill myself Arron. I may seem selfish but I'm not that selfish." I said.
"You're not selfish." Said Liir and Arron both, "Stop thinking what I'm thinking."
"Great Oz, you're acting like children." I said.
"Are not." They said again.
Instead of saying something together they gave each other a glare before eating their lunch in silent. Not that it's anything new but I did pull out a book while I ate. Not so much more of a surprise, I was interrupted… Like always, I was annoyed and looked to see who was interrupting me.
"I have a question for you Filía."
"It better be good enough to be interrupting me." I said seeing that Quillam had decided to join our table, "Don't you have a girlfriend to be occupying?"
"She's a little busy to notice me right now. Are you going to have that?" He asked pointing at me food.
I rolled my eyes, passing my tray to him, "Please tell me that you have a better question than that."
"I do." He said searching the tray I gave him, "Since you've become quite popular, why are you still single?"
I slammed my book shut and stood from my seat, "My personal life is my own business. Stay out of it."
Everyone in the cafeteria was watching. I mean, it's hard not to see what's going on when the force of a book echoes throughout the room. If I cared that people were watching I'd probably yell at them too, but I don't so I didn't.
"Touchy subject I assume." He said devouring my food, "Is it because you've been hurt too much to let anyone in?"
"I suggest you mind your own business." I started to walk away.
"Your sister told me everything. And I do mean everything."
I just about made it to the open doors when they slammed shut. I stopped just staring at the doors. I don't want to fight, that is if that's where he's getting at. Not just because Glinda will glide down in her bubble but because Nessa will kill me if I even think about hurting him… Which I could really care less but it's the relationship that I have with her (what seems to be left anyway) that's stopping me.
"If you're trying to prove something, please, do it quickly." I said tilting my head slightly to the right, "If you aren't I suggest you open the doors."
"Do you believe that I did that?" He asked, "You're insane."
"If it wasn't you than who was it?" I turned to face him.
"How about your favorite teacher?"
"Mama Yackle." I said seeing that she was at the table in front of me with a few of the other teachers, including Zedekiah.
"Yes Dearie, it was me. Now, I wanted to give you a chance to redo this assignment." She stood up handing me the assignment that I handed in this morning, "That is, since it isn't due for another two days."
Do I have an Annoy Me sign on my back or something? I swear this day is just getting better and better. I thought to myself, taking the paper.
"What's wrong with it? I seriously find it hard to believe that I did so bad that I need a second chance."
"Read the notes and find out." She said taking a seat.
"You're the teacher. So why don't you do your job for once and tell me." I said tossing the paper across the table.
"Okay, Filía, why don't you go take a walk, read a book, or something to calm down." Zedekiah said, "Don't make this worse than it already is."
"She's my student right now Zedekiah, I can handle her."
"Like it or not you don't scare me like you do the rest of your class. You're going to have to do better than detention to 'handle' me."
"The only thing keeping you in my class is that you have potential, otherwise I would have kicked you out a long time ago. Don't make me change my mind." She said waving her hand to open the doors, "I'll see you in class tomorrow."
That was not the response I was looking for… Or expecting. The bell rang a moment too late; I turned around and started to walk to my next class. As soon as I made it to the door of my next class, there was a note saying that class was canceled. I leaned my head against the door, debating whether I should bang it against the door with force.
"I'm sure your paper was fine. You know how Yackle is, always finding a reason to get to you." Liir said leaning against the wall, "Go ahead kill yourself. I'll bury your body and tell everyone that you ran away, never to be found." He teased.
I chuckled as I sat myself on the ground, my back against the door, "I'll take a rain check but thanks."
"That's what friends are for." He sat next to me as the bell rang.
"Don't you have a class to go to?"
"It's study hall for me or hang out for the next 45 minutes. I usually choose to hang out. Seriously though, if what Yackle says is true, she's probably pushing you. To see what you can really do."
"Whatever the reason, fixing a paper isn't going to help that."
"What was Quillam talking about when he said he knew everything?"
"Nothing you need to worry about."
"You'd tell me, if you needed to, right?"
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." I stood up, "I'm hungry, want to join for some food before History?" I asked.
"Why not."
I'm back! So Chirstmas is in 2 week! XD I'm excited. I love Chirstmas and love seeing what I get... Anyway, what did you think? You ready for some action soon? Because it's coming and it's coming soon, but not soon enough it feels like.
