My Knight & Guardian Chapter 10

AN1 09/12/15: Another new chapter! R&R please :)

== 5 hours later – Sand People Enclave ==

It was five hours later after Myra, Mission, Juhani, and Bastilla had purchased their new HK-47 droid. Almost right away Bastilla had commented something was 'off' about the droid. A matter confirmed with its almost blood thirsty eagerness for violence when they had rescued a man from a trap set by his wife, and later in the efforts to drive off more Sand People attacks from Sand Crawlers.

The group had easily enough gotten Sand People clothing to disguise themselves, except for Mission due to her smaller stature, and HK-47 due to his droid nature being impossible to hide. As such they easily concocted a plan to have Mission disguised as a new prisoner for the camp. An effort which lasted only as long as their entry to the camp itself where they were discovered. Taken to the clan's leader where Myra, through HK-47 had quickly determined the clan wished to move deeper into the desert and would release the captive Jawas and Griff in exchange for high quality moisture generators. After a long hot back trek to get said generators and turn into the few Sand People sticks for extra credits.

The group took the hour it was needed to rest up in the shop lobby, to eat lunch, and generally cool down from the heated trek back and forth from the camp. The brief rest and lunch allowed Myra to talk a little more with Mission on how she would handle her first meeting with Griff once they returned to the Sand People's enclave. Munching a fruit bar she asked, "..So what's your feelings on Griff?" Myra said.

Mission chewing her own fruit bar paused to swallow while frowning a bit. "..I'm not sure yet, honestly. Given it sounds like he was being lazy like Leila said with his job with Czerka before his capture….." She trailed off sighing again, "..I don't know that's the honest truth, what do you think I should do?" Mission asked back to Myra.

HK-47 replied before Myra could at first, "Statement master, were it me I would simply blast the wasteful meat bag." it said with an eager tone while standing watch over the four Jedi.

Myra considered her reply a moment, ignoring HK's own statement, while she took another thoughtful bite of her fruit bar. "..Honestly, I'd at the least give him a good slap." She said nodding, "..Especially, given he left you on Taris and were it not for us joining up together you'd likely have died there too. A slap if you ask me is well earned, but once that's done I'd give him a chance to explain." She said, getting a slight scowl from Bastilla, and the feeling of disapproval through their bond. Clearing her throat then she added quickly, "..But that's just me if I was in your shoes, as I said before maybe you should let him explain why things happened as they did, he just may have a legitimate reason."

Again HK piped up, "..Statement, I still say blasting the waste of good air would be far more efficient and effective master for such a family crime." it said.

"..Not right now HK, just keep on guard alright?" Myra said.

"..Of course master, you need not worry that my attention is ever divided from your safety, or those of your squishy friends." it replied with a cheery tone this time.

Mission nodded to both parts of Myra's reply, ignoring herself HK's words while considering, "..I suppose there is no harm in letting him explain himself, and if I then don't like it I could slap him." She said then.

"..With a metal rod!" HK chimed in cheerfully, to which Mission just rolled her eyes.

Myra smiled a bit despite herself to HK's words, then nodded in reply, finishing off her fruit bar, as Juhani returned with fresh cool bottles of water for everyone. "..Here you are Myra." Juhani said handing hers over last as she sat next to the smaller human woman.

"..Thanks Juhani, ahhh man that's better." Myra groaned in relief as she sipped the cool water down. "..Never thought I'd say this but there is such a thing as too much heat." she said with a soft chuckle.

Mission nodded eagerly, while Bastilla and Juhani replied at the same time with an, "..Indeed.." Myra said nothing though in reply for the moment sitting back to rest her eyes. In the quiet of that moment Myra tried reaching out through the bond she shared with Basilla trying to see if she could discern the rising and lowering sense of guilt the woman had at times let slip when she had seen Myra do something which stayed true to the path of the Light Side. Oddly the only image she got was of Bastilla on some kind of blurry ship outline, wielding her yellow double light saber saying something Myra couldn't make out before the image was snatched away from her.

"..Rerrr...Myra!" Bastilla said the first part almost like a angered growl at Myra's intrusion into her private thoughts. "..I...I would appreciate it if you did not intrude onto my personal thoughts without asking!" Basilla said with a warning tone.

Rubbing the back of her neck catching a glance of confusion shared between Mission and Juhani, she continued, "..Sorry, we'll speak later I guess on things." she said.

Quietly Bastilla nodded in reply, Myra checked the clock on the wall finding they still had a half an hour until the generators would be ready for shipment. Sighing she said, "..Best we all try to meditate for a bit, I suppose, that or rest up."

A nod came from the three other women with HK being his usual growing smart ass self in reply with, "..Pardon master, but my droid perfection does not require me to perform this 'meditation' you fleshy Jedi so love to imbibe in. Truly a weakness which could be exploited were one such as I not bound to you." it said.

Shaking her head Myra said nothing sitting on the floor in the lobby trying to calm her mind, as she reached out through the Force to lightly touch on the aura's of her companions before each fell into their own quiet routines to pass the last of the time before returning to the desert heat.
