Chapter Ten
"Come on! Narra hissed at Ike. She had been following the vexatious man for some time, after he had saved her life. The Mandalorian was an apparent tracker, but he was not following any form that Narra knew of. He just stood there turning his head side to side, then crouched down and scampered forwards. But now he wasn't moving at all.
"Move it you slug!" Narra swung at Ike's face, meaning to startle him not hurt him. Before she even managed to get close to his armour he bolted forwards, no sound coming from his boots or the speed at which he was moving. Narra took off after him, trying and failing to match his silence. The dead woman who had attacked Ike had a holomap on her, and now they were following it. The map detailed a large fortress nearly ten klicks from where they were before. It was now only about two now. Ike had repeatedly made them stop and hide, without letting Narra know what they were hiding from. Whenever Ike did make them hide there was loud thumping nearby, so it didn't take a genius to figure out that more rancors, possibly with riders, were nearby.
"How much longer?" Narra grumbled. Her information was about two hours old, as when Narra checked the holomap and found that they were only two klicks away, Ike confiscated it. He confiscated something from a Sith. Ike would die, but later, Narra kept promising herself.
"We're here." Ike said quietly.
"What?" Narra exclaimed. There was absolutely nothing around them, not even a tree. Just bushes.
"Get into some cover." Ike pointed to a patch of land that dipped into a five foot valley. Narra followed his orders, For now she thought. Ike bent down and carefully placed a detonator, then activated it and ran for all he was worth towards Narra. He dove down next to her just in time to dodge the large explosion his detonator created. Narra went to get up, but Ike held her down.
"Wait." He whispered. They lay next to each other for several minutes, then Narra snorted in disgust.
"Nothing is going to hap-" She started, before slowly closing her mouth. Three women were slowly pulling themselves out of the pit created by the explosion. Without hesitation Ike pulled out his blaster and took aim. He pulled the trigger twice, and two of the women fell.
"Take her down, don't kill!" Ike shouted as Narra ran out. Following his advice, not order, Narra knee'd the woman in the face before she could react. Then Narra noticed that all three of them had grey skin, white hair and strange and slightly skimpy red clothing.
"Witches." Ike grunted, pulling away the two dead ones. "Grab that one." He motioned to the survivor. Narra did as he asked, and dragged the woman back to their cover of bushes.
"Can you do anything that can, I don't know, scan memories?" Ike asked hurriedly, keeping an eye on the opening.
"Yes, give me a moment." Narra hissed back, grabbing he Witch's head. Focusing her energies Narra pushed deep into the sleeping woman's consciousness. Narra searched for what seemed like hours to her, picking at anything interesting. One piece of information was about the Witches mating. They would mate with males on another part of the planet, but until that time relationships between the Witches, who were all women, were encouraged. Another tidbit was that they didn't really have a ranking structure, as everyone was equal except for the Clan Mother. And when the Clan Mother died the Witches had contests of skill and strength to find the new one.
"I got it." Narra whispered. She stretched her consciousness farther and plucked the information she need from the woman's mind.
"The Jedi and the clone are in the prison section which is, luckily, just a few metres from where your hole is. And they have no alarms." Narra added. Ike nodded and moved to the crevasse. It wasn't too deep, and opened into a passageway. The two of them dropped down as silently as they could, and made their way to the prison cells. When they reached the entrance it was locked with an extravagant keypad. Narra went to try and open it but Ike beat her to it. He took the butt of his gun and smashed the lock. The door and slid open and Ike glanced back.
"I know the model." He explained. They kept going, passing by cells and checking occupants.
"Here." Narra whispered. She had found a cell whose only occupant was labelled 'Republic'.
"I'll get it open." Ike pushed Narra to the side with an indignant squawk. He bent down and fiddled with the door controls for a moment before it slid open. Ike cracked a light from his belt and tossed it in.
"Damn." He monotoned, glancing in.
"What is it?" Narra grumbled, pushing the Mandalorian to the side. "Whoah." Lying on it's stomach down in the centre of the cell was a body. To be more precise it was a clone's body.
"No way to know if it's the clone that rescued the Jetii." Ike said. "But that camera could tell us who did it." Narra glanced over and saw the camera in the corner.
"Cameras in cells, but no alarms? Stupid." Narra grinned. Ike quickly opened the camera up and put it's memory into his holopad. Sure enough a small projection came up. The clone was definitely the same one, as in the corner of the recording Narra could see the green and black armour of the clone that beat her. Three women were around him, with two standing by and one actively using the Force to electrocute the clone. A few minutes of that and the clone fell down, dead. The women all turned to leave and Narra could see the third woman's face. It was the Jedi.
"What?" Ike and Narra exclaimed simultaneously. Then the body sat upright and gasped.
