Chapter 10: The Night of the Half Moon
"You what!?" A very surprised monk asked with a surprised look on his face.
"Yeah, I was actually surprised myself when I found out last night..." The half-demon Inuyasha added, leaning back in his chair and placing his hands behind his head.
"...Kagome's mother invited me in to eat dinner with them and I accepted." Sesshomaru explained to Miroku who almost choked on his drink, him and Sango went over for breakfast, they loved spending time with there families but it was more peaceful and relaxing at the two youkais mansion.
Sesshomaru looked down at his cup filled with chocolate and saw the slightest hint of his own reflection, his eyes softened remembering what happened last night, never will he forget that special moment he had with her. "...Kagome has gone through so much in her life, she looks the same but she's completely the opposite, instead of pushing me away, she's actually starting to open up to me and pulling me to her, I wouldn't want her to be sad, I would want her to smile and be happy all the time."
Sango looked through the full blooded demon, by the look on his face she knew how much Kagome meant to him. It was like he was the only one who could chase that smile out of her, the closer they got to each other the better she would fall for him.
"I have an idea..." The human girl chimed in excitedly. "...I heard there was going to be a fair in town today, it comes once a year, everyone have been talking about it and I thought that it would be a great idea if all of us went. You should invite Kagome to the fair, Sesshomaru."
Sesshomaru was about to protest, would she really want to go with him? He noticed she was not a fan of crowds, sure she likes people, but she doesn't like large crowds, especially with how she could see from here that a lot of citizens were gathering, she liked privacy and silence, but it was worth a shot. "You know what? Maybe I will."
"Tag! You're it Shippo!" A young boy said to the young fox running off at the process. It was a peaceful afternoon in town, laughter was heard throughout the Higruashi home.
"Hey no fair!" called out Shippo as he attempted to chase after him. The half-demon giggled, as she saw Souta tagged the young fox, she was wearing a small dress that is separated into two layers. The inner layer is a bright red long-sleeved shirt. The second layer is a black dress with 2 white stripes. It also has two yellow dots and one pink dot on the dress. The dress goes up to her high thighs, she loved her family more than life itself and would do anything just to protect them from all the danger…mainly from Naraku, she then frowned at that thought, although she was strong, she couldn't always protect her family, just like she failed to protect Koji...and BEING half-demon attracts enemies too, she couldn't help but think that if she hadn't been born, then maybe no one would be bothering them now, hearing Kagome's magical laughter Shippo suddenly went over to her.
"Tag! You're it Kagome!" He said eyes gleaming with laughter as he ran away with Souta.
"Oh no you didn't!" Kagome laughed chasing him, Mrs Higruashi smiled at her family she always wanted to see her smile, hear her laugh, bring back all of the little things that made her happy, her thoughts were interrupted with Kagome's laughter, she was already lying down on the ground laughing while Souta and Shippo were on top tickling her laughing as well, Kirara stood there watching with a mew.
"Okay… okay! Stop! I…. I surrender!" The half-demon said in between fits of laughter.
"Yes! We win! Hi-five Shippo!" Souta said giving him a hi-five before helping his sister up.
"Come on Kagome let's play again!" Shippo said his green eyes sparkling.
"You and Souta go and play, I want to rest for a while." Kagome said smiling softly.
"Awe! alright then, but promise us you will play later."
"Of course, now go and play with Souta." Kagome said giving him a kiss on the forehead.
"Tag your it Souta!" The fox child said as he ran around the sacred tree followed by the two tail cat.
"Hey no fair!" The young boy said surprising as he ran after him.
"Be careful!" Kagome called out. "...Who knew they could run so fast?" Her mother who stood next to her laughed at that.
A soft breeze picked up slightly, rustling Kagome's hair a bit, as though it was caressing her face, sakura petals fell from the tree, looking like a winter day without snow, and the sky pale white with plain clouds, this was her favorite time of day, when the sun had just risen and a cool morning breeze was about, this could only mean that the spring day ahead was going to be good. The loosened petals drifted weightlessly in the air, carried by the gentle wind, surrounding her as if she was a princess. A few petals landed on her shoulder, some found an attachment in her soft hair, yet she minded none of it, she extended her hand gently and a sakura petal landed on her palm, Kagome stared at the flower petals that graced in her hand a memory was playing in her mind, she could still feel Sesshomaru placing the flower in her hair just thinking about him made her heart skipped a beat, made her feel different; she didn't know what kind of different, but it was good, he had a way of making her feel special, and wording things that made the tips of her fingers and toes tingle, she never wanted it to go away, he was the only one who could make her forget her problems for a little while, who could ease her pain. What made him so different from the others?!
"...When you're close to the sacred tree don't you feel a strange kind of power Kagome?..." She heard her mother speak. "...As though you feel truer to yourself, that somehow its presence makes your heart feel much more pure? This is the special place where your father proposed to me, and of course I loved him like no other, I accepted his proposal, which meant I was able to have you and Souta, but the day before he had asked me to marry him someone by the name Naraku wanted him dead..."
Kagome's eyes widened in hatred when she mentioned his name.
"...Naraku felt, bitterness, jealously and anger toward our bond, your father died protecting us, the instant I walked under this tree it reminds me of him...It might sound funny but I feel grateful to this tree..."
The half-demon girl understood now, the reason why Naraku wanted her father dead was because he wanted her mother all by himself, he was jealous of the bond her mother and father shared, he was in love with her as well, despite all his patience and affection, he couldn't get to her heart, Kagome looked up at the sky as an image of her father appeared.
'I will avenge you, father, no matter what the cost...'
A full demon lord stood up next to his mirror and rehearsed asking Kagome to the fair, of course he felt rather silly, however, he knew that if he didn't rehearse, than he wouldn't be able to get the words out, he know it will take some courage, but he have to take this chance, he would hate it if he lost his chance and another man was to sweep Kagome off her feet, dressed in a white tank top thing guy's wear with a gray shirt over it with blue baggy jeans and white shoes, he looked at the clock above his bed, and decided it was time to go.
"Are you ready Sesshomaru?" Miroku asked him when entering his room.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Upon arriving to Kagome's home Sesshomaru knocked on the door, the others were amazed by her home. The door open and there stood a boy with black hair and brown eyes, the young child smiled when he saw the arrival.
"Sesshomaru's here!" Souta shouted excitedly and tackled Sesshomaru into a hug, Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango blinked staring at them in slight confusion.
"Ok, kid. I understand that you missed me, but do you really have to attack me?"
Kagome walked towards the door and was surprised when she saw Sesshomaru. "Sesshomaru! What are you doing here?"
"Kagome!" The full demon said her name excited to see her.
Kagome then noticed the others she narrowed her eyes at them, her pupils' tiny blue slits, making her eyes seem bathed in violet, and started growling mostly at Inuyasha, they were taken aback by this, no one dared to move.
Sesshomaru stood in front of her. "Kagome it's okay, they're not here to hurt you, they're our friends." Kagome did not listen, she kept her eyes on them like a predator and its pray in case if they do anything she will be ready to attack.
"I won't hurt you Kagome, I promise." Inuyasha spoke up knowing she saw him as a threat, he could not blame her it was his own damm fault for choosing his actions and betraying his own kind. "...I want to apologize for my actions before, I only wanted to protect you from her that awful, no good wench, Kikyo but I ended up being a monster at the end. I never meant to hurt you Kagome, I am sorry..." Kagome was angry at him for what he did, that would not change, then her eyes returned back to her normal self.
"I hear there is a fair today..." Sesshomaru said suddenly. "... I was wondering if you would you like to go to the with me Kagome?" he asked. The half-demon cat studied him for a moment, processing what he said, his eyes looking so tenderly, she was hesitated for a moment before Kisa suddenly chipped in.
"That sounds like a great idea. You should go sweetie."
"Mother?!" Kagome asked shock, not knowing when she appeared at the door.
Kagome turned her gaze back to him, waiting for an answer, she bit her lower lip before nodding. Sesshomaru smile glad that she accepted. The two tail cat jumped onto Sesshomaru's shoulder and began to lick his cheek, he glanced to see the tiny kitten staring up at him with wide and fascinated eyes, he reached down to pat her on the head, gently rubbing at her tiny ears and rubbing her under the chin, Kilala purred contentedly under his touch happy to see him once again.
"Kagome, who are these people?" a little voice chirped silently, jumping in her arms.
Sango smiled warmly. "Oh! I am sorry about my manners, my name is Sango. This is Miroku, and Inuyasha. Nice to meet you." The three bowed there heads in respect.
Kisa smiled. "Nice to meet you as well..."
"Kagome, are you leaving?" Shippo asked, sadness in his voice.
Kagome nodded her head and placed the young boy on the ground. "Yes, Shippo..." she said softly. "...don't worry, It's just for a couple of minutes." She added quickly when she saw Shippo's eyes begin to well with tears. "You pinky promise?" He asked, holding up his little pinky. "I pinky promise." Kagome said and hooked her pinky with his.
Souta stood before Sesshomaru and looked him square in the eye, this unexpected move startled both men into silence. "Do you promise to take care of my sister? You won't let her get hurt?"
Sesshomaru gazed upon the young man with wonder and regard, he speaks out of love for his sister. "I swear to you, I would die to protect Kagome. I will take care of your sister Souta." The young boy nodded in agreement.
Sesshomaru then turned to look at Kagome and smile. "Shall we get going?" Kagome nodded her head lightly.
Naraku was sitting in a corner of the room watching through a white mirror, he smirk evily at the group planning his revenge on the half demon cat. "You will die by my hands Kagome...even you and your pathetic friends wont be able to stop me."
The group walked until they got to the front gates, they walked around and played some games at the game booths, winning a few prizes here and there. Kagome realized she was actually having fun. Sesshomaru looked at her happy, smiling face, so innocent, so pure he made a promise to himself, he will always protect Kagome smile, and he will not let anyone stand in his path. Sesshomaru won a fluffy white bear for her, whom he named It after her for the time being.
"I want to show you something." he said, offering her his hand. Kagome blinked curious
In reality it was a choice he offered. He would not tell her where they were going, that much was clear, so she would have to TRUST him. The choice was hers, trust him or walk away. But it was no choice at all in her mind, and she readily accepted his hand, following him blindly wherever he was leading her, several minutes later, they arrived at the destination…A frozen river.
Kagome felt her stomach slightly drop as she took in the surroundings, finally figuring out what he had in mind. "Ice skating?..." she gaped.
"Yeah..." Sesshomaru smiled not noticing the look of worry that had overtaken her face.
"...Um…Did you d-do this often…before…?"
"Hm? My friends and I used to do this a lot when we were younger." He smiled fractionally as he remembered his carefree childhood. "...Not as much when we all became teenagers, though. I'm surprised I still remember how to do this..." he pulled her over to sit on a bench, them reached down and pulled a pair of skates out from under the bench, handing them to her, Kagome just stared at them blushing.
"Here let me help," Sesshomaru said as he kneeled in front of her. He pulled off her shoes and slipped on the socks that had been lying atop the skates. His actions were gentle as he slipped on her skates and laced them up.
"Good?" he asked, sitting back on his heels.
Kagome nodded. "...I can't ice skate."
"Then I'll teach you." Kagome's furred her eyebrows.
"...but what if I-" Sesshomaru interrupted her. "Do you trust me?"
Kagome who still had a confused look on her face says. "Nani?"
"Do. You. Trust. Me.?" He repeated slowly. Hesitating for a few seconds, she put her hand on his.
"Are you s-sure…about th-this…?" Kagome clung to Sesshomaru's arm as the pair stepped out onto the frozen river, she was beginning to wonder why she let him talk her into iceskating, she tightened her grip on his arm, terrified of falling.
He wrapped his arm around her tightly in response. "I got you," he promised as they slowly skated around the pond. He placed a gentle kiss on the top of her head, making her blush. He chuckled, pleased that he could distract her from her fear, even if only for a few seconds. "Just don't let go Sesshomaru."
"I won't…" She gave a forced smile as she was pulled alongside him.
Kagome wobbled and almost fell, he quickly caught her. "I got you, you're ok."
Nodding, still scared and speechless, she continued forward. "All you have to do is put one foot in front then you do the same to the other. It's like walking but you're just sliding it and not picking it up." Sesshomaru explained.
The half-demon girl looked at him worried, he nodded reassuringly, she did what he said but ended up falling, she braced herself for the impact, but it never came, as Sesshomaru had caught her once more. He taught her, holding her hands while he was in front of her, guiding her.
"Thats it, Left foot back, Right foot back, Left foot back, ..." soon she got the hang of it. Even when she did, hey still had his arms around her, supporting her and trying not to make her fall. They both were just laughing and having fun, not caring who sees or where they were. All that mattered was that they were together.
The others stood on the sidelines inside of the rink, and watched the two. All were leaning on the circle, crossed arms. From a naked and unknowledgeable eye, it would seem as if the two were a couple on a date.
"Kagome looks so happy with Sesshomaru, and he looks just as happy to be with her, look at her smile." Sango said smiling at the scene before them, Miroku nodded in agreement. Inuyasha watched as Kagome knocked both of them down when she attempted to clap her hands, they landed on top of each other, Kagome on the top, Sesshomaru on the bottom, they both laughed together.
Her smile was the first thing that caught Inuyasha's attention it was beautiful, he never seen this side of her before, there was just something about it that intrigued him and her sweet angelic laugher was like bells tinkling in the wind.
"...Thank you for teaching me to ice skate Sesshomaru." Kagome replied softly, once they got of the ice, a shy smile materialising on her face.
"It's no problem," he answered back in the same tone.
Inuyasha looked at his half-brother with a small grin on his face "I challenge you Sesshomaru, a small spar, hand-to-hand, and swordsmanship only." Sesshomaru never was one to back down from a challenge, he would have gladly accepted but he wanted to spent time with Kagome. "A whelp like you is no match for me..."
"What do you mean whelp!" Inuyasha screeched, raising his fist.
"Simple, you just not worth my time." Sesshomaru said in a calm yet manner.
Inuyasha growled at him. "I'll take you on right now!"
"You won't stand a chance!"
"...Now, now, there's no need to argue, we are here to have a good time..." Miroku piped in not wanting the brothers to start a fight.
"Shut up! You fake lecherous monk!" Inuyasha snarled at him, picking a fight with him now.
Miroku narrowed his eyes at the dog demon. "...I won't argue with you about being a lecher, but how dare you call me a fake!"
Sango was surprised at his words. "...What was that?"
Kagome stood in the sidelines, she sweat drop at their argument they were a weird bunch of people, she thought her eyes than landed on a gift shop the stuffed animal section to be exact, they had all sorts of stuffed animals. Dogs, cats, teddy bears, dragons, and even stuffed horses, she then spotted a little stuffed fox, a picture of Shippo's sad face appeared in her mind. 'I have an idea...' Kagome thought, she made her way over to the gift shop, no one noticed she left the group, she picked it up the little fox was a orange color and it had a bushy tail and bright green eyes. 'Shippo will love this.' she thought as she went to pay for it.
"Have a nice day... " The old lady said with a warm smile on her face, her name tag read Kaede, she had long grey hair that was pulled into a low pony-tail. Kagome thanked her and left back to the others wondering if they noticed she had left.
"Don't want to fight me or are you afraid that I will beat you?" Inuyasha smirked, folding his arms.
Sesshomaru looked at his half-brother his expression filled with bored ness."...You and I both know I am stronger than you and anyways we shouldn't fighting over petty things like this..."
Sango looked around noticing the half-demon cat was gone. "...Where did Kagome go?" she asked, Sesshomaru looked at her in shock, he looked around and noticed she was gone as well, he sniffed the air but wasn't able to pick up her scent, a wave of guilt washed over him, as he realized Kagome was gone. The feeling of worry tumbled in his stomach seeing the lonely cat demon missing, Sesshomaru snapped his head back to Inuyasha. "...This is your fault!" he growled pointing at him. "...if you would have let the fight go than this wouldn't have happened!"
Inuyasha glared right back. "It's not my fault!" he yelled, he was abruptly grabbed by the front of his shirt and pulled roughly towards glaring golden eyes.
"If anything happens to Kagome, I'll make the rest of your existence a living hell!" the full demon growled out before releasing him.
Sango glared at the two of them. "...Instead of arguing about whose fault it is, we should go looking for her!..." she snapped, "...she could easily get lost, not to mention its already getting dark." she said.
"You care about her that much, huh?" Inuyasha asked him softly.
"Shut up! I'm in no mood to put up with you, I have to find Kagome." With that he left to find the missing girl.
"...Let's go" Miroku said, the two agreed and left to search.
As the half-demon cat walked back she stopped in her tracks, she had sensed a demon nearby, she turned her head toward some bushes that rustled a demon appeared it was a half lion/half wolf, the monster had bloody claws that indicated it killed something, it also had poison dripping out of them, seeing Kagome, it screeched.
"Kagome! Kagome, where are you?!" Sesshomaru shouted into the nearing night, he looked everywhere, in bushes, small trees, and in the nearby places, she was nowhere to be seen, the worry worsened, and his heart began to beat faster, where was she? What if she got lost? What if something happened to her? Even worse what if someone took her away?
he didn't know what he'd do if something had happened to Kagome, refusing of thinking such thoughts, he than heard loud screeched coming from a river. "KAGOME!" he shouted as he ran like the wind toward her.
Arriving at the river his eyes widen in shocked a demon was about to hurt Kagome. "Kagome!" He shouted her name jumped head first to the demon and slashed it with his poison whip the monster let out a pain-filled cry, then burst into nothing, he landed in front of Kagome protectively.
"Sesshomaru..." Kagome said suprised.
Sesshomaru turned around quickly. "Kagome!" He ran toward her, she gasped in surprise when he embraced her, burying his face in the nook of her neck and bringing her close to him with his arms "...I thought that I might never see you again." Kagome was speechless, her body was limp as it was pressed up against his, he was relieved to see her. "Kagome, I swear I'll never let you out of my sight again! I'm so sorry!" he shouted, his voice wavering as if he was about to cry, she reached up and embraced him, his embrace was warm and enticing, and she buried her face into his chest glad to see him too, Sesshomaru held her fiercely, all his pining for her return tightened his chest as it was finally being realized. It's true what they say. 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder.'
"Kagome! Kagome! Kagome!" He shouted as he lifted her up and spun around in glee. The girl squealed in delight, and held fast as she was spun around abruptly, as her feet again landed on solid ground she backed up to look at his familiar yet forgotten face, the smile never left her lips as she looked upon his equally joyous features.
Kagome's sapphire eyes landed at the part of the sky that the moon would normally be in at this time, her eyes shook it was the beginning to turn half, were there was a quarter of the moon in the sky it was also Kagome's human night, the night were she lost all her demon powers and became a weak black haired, violet eyed human, instead of staying a strong, raven haired, sapphire eyed, half demon with cat ears, Kagome pushed him away quickly he was shocked at her actions. "Don't follow me!" she said before she ran of, she knew that she wasn't safe, she ran, ran as fast as his legs could carry. Sesshomaru watched her go wondering what was wrong with her, wanting to make sure that she was alright, he ran after her, he was not going to lose her again, since he was the full demon, he could easily catch up to her, hiding in a dark shadow Sesshomaru knelt to Kagome, as he said "...Kagome are you alright?"
When he reached out for her, Kagome flinched as she said with anger "LEAVE ME ALONE!" Sesshomaru frowned a bit, than he screamed at her softly for acting like this, he wanted to know what was wrong with her, but at the moment, he wasn't sure what was wrong with her, but what ever it was, it must be bad if it made Kagome act this way.
Sesshomaru couldn't believe his eyes. Kagome's hair had gone black, and her eyes were a light shade of brown...Kagome... she... she looked human...
The great demon chuckled. "...So it would seem...I was wondering when you lose your powers...So you become human when the moon is half..."
Kagome only blinked. "...How do you know?"
"Inuyaha is a half-demon just like you, he loses his powers on the new moon since you are also half-demon I figured you lose your powers too did not know when though..." He looked at the moon and explained "...half demons like you become human at certain times, for every half demon, there is a period of time when half demons become fully human. You apparently become a human when the moon is half..."
Kagome nodded, he stared at Kagome as he asked "...Why didn't you tell me? If you told me than I would have understand..." Kagome only glared at him. Her eyes were burning. Sesshomaru could almost see the flames that appeared behind her now brown eyes.
"I don't trust anyone! I don't tell anyone anything!" Screamed Kagome. Sesshomaru only flinched. Kagome than stared at the sky as she said "...it's just how I lived till now. I haven't trusted anyone with my secret!" Sesshomaru sighed a bit. But he couldn't help but feel
slightly hurt that Kagome didn't trust him yet.
"...being human doesn't make you weak..." he told her looking right at her eyes. "...it has its uses not weak in fact you're the strongest person I know.
"...No you don't...you know as well as everyone else that any worthless half-breed like me doesn't have a right to be here. I shouldn't even be alive." Kagome thought of all of the humans and demons alike who had stigmatized him as someone unworthy of life "...Every day was the same humans always treat me bad..."
At that, anger filled his countenance. "...Why won't you believe what I tell you? Do I mean so little to you that you would ignore everything I'm trying to say?"
Kagome's eyes widened as his gaze looked him straight in the eyes.
Sesshomaru's face softened "...You have a right to be here...you feel, you live and eventually you will understand, being human isn't a weakness; it's the strength that keeps you going, fighting...alive, besides you are Kagome, a brave, strong, caring, beautiful, protective, and understanding person, why can't you see how great you are? Anyone would be stupid not to choose you, besides the cute cat ears are a bonus...I don't care what form you are or take, weather it be human, hanyou or demon I like them all…because there a part of you, I could never hate or scorn you simply for being what and who you are."
Sesshomaru...Kagome had always known this, maybe not right away the first time they met. That day she looked at him the way she looked at every human she came across, someone he could not trust, as time went on he started to learn that he didn't care she was a Hanyou, he could smell Sesshomaru's sweet scent since he was so close to her, but with her human nose it wasn't as strong but it was still enough to relax her.
The sun was setting, and little Kagome noticed that her claws were shrinking and she felt a tingle run down her spine, Kagome then realized something, he looked at the sky, half moon, '...there's a half moon in the sky! That means, Oh no! Father said I should never be outside on the nights the moon is half!' Kagome started to run to the house as her hair turned black and her eyes turned light brown, she felt her demon strength drain from her body and felt the tickle as her cat ears became human ears, her sense of smell, sight and hearing dulled.
"Hey! Look at the Half Breed!" Kagome heard and her fear turned to panic and faced the owner of the voice. It was, Ayumi that picked on her when ever she ran into the little hanyou alone, Kagome began to run away before the girl ran after her and pined her to the ground, "What happened to your stupid ears neko? I was hoping to twist them some more..." She said, the grown ups came over and got a look at the now human Kagome, and what she heard was what made him run as fast as her human body would allow him.
"She looks human"
"She is human!"
"Hanyou's have human nights!"
"Now that foul father of her is dead we can get rid of her for good! Dirty child should have been killed before she was able to draw first breath!"
Kagome pushed the little kid off her and ran into the forest with the whole people on her tail, shouting hatful insults at her the whole way I can't let them catch me! , Kagome was starting to run out of breath as she came to a pond, thinking fast she hide behind a tree, the people came into the clearing of the pond and looked around. Just as she was about to make a sound they left to return to there homes, she looked around the area, hoping to find her way back home, as best she could with her now human senses she could only guess she was alone and that hopefully the villagers had gone away, hopefully she could never see them again, the next time she did as she was now she would be killed on the spot.
The next thing she knew he had been thrown right into a tree by some great force, lifting her head ignoring the smarting pain running though her frail human body, standing not to far from were she had been sleeping was a large demon, it was as big as a tree and had large claws and fangs, its skin was dark green and its yellow leering eyes bulged out of its head, it carried a claw in its right hand. Kagome stood up winching at the pain that shot up her leg, the demon laughed, "What have we here? A little human brat out in the woods?" it said walking over to the young Hanyou child.
Kagome heard the demon sniff the air, and an unreadable look came across its face. "You look human yet you have the scent of both human and demon." Kagome started backing away, it sniffed again before a look Kagome recognized as a look of disguised came across its face, "You're a half demon!" it spat walking up to Kagome who was starting to back away a little faster, "Dirt like you should have been removed from this world long ago!" it roared swinging its claw at her, Kagome managed to dodged it and ran for her life with the demon behind him.
She paid no mind to the cuts he was getting from running thought the many bushes, she tripped on a rock scrapping her hands but jumped up as the demon swung again slamming her into a tree, Kagome staggered to her feet trying to get her eyes to work right again as she saw double of the same demon coming at her again, Kagome ran again but nearly lost hope when she came to a cliff, he looked around, Kagome ran over to a tree and climbed up it as fast and as far as she could before reaching a large branch in the tree with a hole in the trunk big enough for him to fit it, he climbed in and closed her eyes, she heard the demon come into the clearing and look around, the demon gave an angry roar and hit the tree he was in.
Kagome curled up as best she could in the hole as he felt the tree fall to the ground, when it hit the ground his head slammed into the roof of the trunk, her shoulder burned with pain from the deep gash from a jagged branch broken when the tree hit, but he stayed still and made no sound. She heard the demons foot steps getting farther away until he couldn't hear them anymore, Kagome climbed out of the fallen tree as tears began streaming down her face. Not wanting to go though something like that again she climbed up another tree and stayed awake until the sun rise.
When the sun did rise, the light of the sun filled the world with light once again, showing a now once again Hanyou Kagome climbing out of the tree, as she got down from the tree and her feet touched the ground he began thinking.
'The human's hated and chased me away, demons chase and try to kill me…' kagome thought as the other nights events ran around in her mind, she began walking while rubbing her eyes that still stung from her tears, he clinched his bleeding shoulder, 'I have no place in the world, not with humans or with demons…' Kagome stopped walking and looked at the sky, 'If I don't have a place with humans or with demons… I'll make my own place in the world for myself' rubbing the remainder of his tears away she took off into the woods for what ever might come her way, and now starting what was already beginning to be a very hard life filled with hate and rejection.
Kagome smiled a bit at Sesshomaru, just being by his side was enough.
"Sesshomaru!" Someone called out his name making the full demon turn around and look around seeing who called his name, it was his half-brother followed by the two humans, upon seeing the Kagome, Inuyasha gasped and his eyes widen. "Kagome..." he whispered softly no one hearing his words, it was HER the little girl he met when he was just a sad little boy, a wide smile claimed his lips but soon vanished when he realized his mistakes.
"You found Kagome..." Sango asked with excitement in her voice, looking at her closely her eyes went wide."Kagome your human?! You turned human as well I see." she then went to hugged her. "...I'm glad your alright Kagome, you scared me to death." she said as she released her.
"You were worried? about me?!" The half-neko asked, disbelief coating her voice, no one was worried about her before except Koji and her family including Sesshomaru.
Sango smiled at her kindly. "Yes!...I've always wanted to be your friend Kagome, to bad I can't touch your cute ears at this moment..." The two girls both laughed at that.
Miroku stretched his arms and put it behind his head. "I am glad things turned out well..."
Sesshomaru nodded in agreement, he couldn't help but smile at Kagome's smile. It was a heartwarming sight.
Inuyasha hung his head in shame, his bangs covering his eyes. How the hell did he not notice her before?
'I am sorry Kagome'
"Kagome! Your back!" A high squeaky voice yelled out in joy, putting a smile on her face she set the gifts down and opened her arms wide enough for him to jump into them and wrapped his little arms around her neck. "I missed you so much." He hated when she wasn't with him, he genuinely missed her when she was away he would even be moping around not acting like his usual cheerful self. Kagome set him down gently.
"Close your eyes." Kagome instructed. Shippo tilted his head to the side. "Close my eyes? Why?" He asked. Kagome just smiled and repeated, "Close your eyes." So Shippo did as he was told.
Kagome got the stuffed fox and held it in front of small Shippo's face. "OK, you can open them now." She said.
Shippo slowly opened his eyes. When he saw the stuffed fox his green eyes widened in surprise. "Is it for me?" He asked, his voice full of awe. Kagome nodded her head.
Shippo's face broke into a smile and wrapped his arms around the stuffed fox. "Thank you, Kagome!" He said exitedly. "I've never had a present before!" He exclaimed as he jumped up and kissed Kagome on her cheek.
"No problem, Shippo." Kagome said as she gave the little boy a tight hug. "...Now let's go to bed shall we?" Shippo nodded his head, he still had a smile on his face.
Everything was quiet, Sesshomaru stood in front of Kagome and there eyes had melted into each others.
"Thank you for today Sesshomaru, I had a lot of fun..." The human girl raised herself up on her tippy-toes and gently kissed his right cheek, blushing as she pulled away, once she kissed him she went inside her home. Sesshomaru stood there dumbfounded and put his hand on his right cheek, he felt warmth overcome his cheeks, watching as Kagome went inside, he smiled and headed to his home.
Sesshomaru went to sleep with a smile on his face and for the first time he felt happy, closing his golden eyes he dreamt peacefully.
Not to far from the hall a half demon watched the sky thinking of a certain human girl who captured his heart when he was a young pup. "Kagome..."
A little boy was sitting under a tree, he was crying once again, crying so much it seemed like he was gonna cry a river, the weather didn't seem to happy either since it was crying to. The rain soaked his shiny, smooth silver hair were all over his shoulders as he covered his face up with his hands trying to stop crying, his golden eyes were full of clear salty tears, he was bleeding slightly on the upper parts of his arms. He saw movement shift in front of him and he adverted his eyes upward to see a curious looking cat looking at him, it meowed and went to nuzzled his leg and he reached out to pet the cat feeling warmness, the black cat than went before looking at him once more.
"Hey! Why are you crying?" a curious tone said softly.
The boy shook his head, his hair moving slightly. "I'm not crying." He lied, pouting and turned his head to the side to look away.
"Liar..." The little girl said as she moved in closer to the silver-haired male, she knelt down in front of him. "...You were crying. I heard you."
He shook his head again. "I am not crying."
"You're a liar. Father says liars are bad. You're bad. You were lying, too..." She said with a sense of knowing as she nodded his head. "...Crying and lying. Families don't want bad people. That's why everyone else is gone. They're good. They don't lie."
The boy shook his head again, this time more strongly. "I wasn't crying and I am not a liar!"
She sighed. "See? There you go. Lying again."
The boy looked at her as if she had grown another head. "...You're not afraid of me? Even though I'm a half-demon?"
The little girl looked at him with a smile. "Should I be not afraid of you? you are not scary no matter what anybody says. I have only known you for a couple of minutes and I know that you put on a tough boy act but you really are sweet and I know this because everyone is even you, so don't think that because you are little doesn't mean you are weak and have to act strong. My father says act your age and be yourself. So I guess that means be nice and sweet now and act tough later or something like that.
The boy was astonished by her answer, she was the first person who was not scared of him
"I'm Inuyasha and I'm six..." He said after a minute "...I was crying..." He admitted. "...no one likes me because I am different."
"I'm Kagome and I'm five, I think being different is good, it makes you unique...you are perfect just the way you are that's what makes you special from everyone else."she saw his cute dog ears on his head, she giggled with delight.
"What's so funny!" Inuyasha asked trying to act tough, he than saw that she was looking at his dog ears.
"Oh wait! you're looking at my hideous ears." He he said this he put on an act to look tough, but in his eyes she could see that it hurt him inside.
"Hideous? They are not hideous. They are so cute. Can I PLEASE touch them?" She asked with puppy eyes.
He nodded his head softly and she walked closer to him and she started to scratch and rub his ears, as she was doing that he started to purr slightly, not like a cat but more like a soft growl, she stopped and he looked kind of disappointed, but he got over that.
"They are so soft and fuzzy."
"You mean you like them?" He asked with surprise.
"Of course I do."
'Thank you Kagome...' what he didn't know that she was a cat demon herself.
It was their 'special' place, they would always meet each other under that tree.
Inuyasha hated himself at this moment he should have known it was Kagome all those years, he wished he could turned back time wanting to have a chance like that day on the half moon.
