So I got bored...and I think this is the longest chapter I've done for this fic. Well, I'll just get on with it. Hope you all like it!

Chapter 10

Renegade

"Just stay close," Beck told the group as they made their way through Argon, "Even though Argon is smaller than Tron City, CLU's gotten his Black Guards concentrated here,"

"Why?" Jack asked, jogging to get beside the Program.

"Well…because of me," the young Program admitted sheepishly, "Turns out CLU doesn't like people impersonating Tron. Even gave me a nickname. The Renegade,"

"What about the other Programs?" Raf asked, pulling the hood up over his head.

"They're…tolerant of me," Beck shrugged, "Some defend me, others hate me, but most of Argon is on our side. They hate CLU as much as we do,"

"It was where the first Uprising started…and it was where it ended," Tron finished, his voice gravelly and growling behind his mask.

The orange light in his armor unnerved Jack, basically because the last time it was that color, it was Rinzler taking over and trying to kill the young Prime. Beck, Quorra, and Tron all three assured him that it was just a disguise. They'd know if it was Rinzler based on the low electronic growl that would come incessantly.

Miko remarked something about it sounding like a cat or a broken coffee maker, earning her a very steely glare from the elder Program.

"It's just a joke, jeeze," Miko muttered to herself.

"How much longer until we get to the garage?" Jack asked.

"Not much longer," Beck said, "Its right around the corner,"

They walked around the corner to see a dome-like building…and it started to rain.

"Ow!" Miko whined, "This stuff burns!"

The others looked at her strangely.

"Well it does!" Miko snapped, "Why don't you guys feel it!?"

"Feels like water to me," Raf said.

"It feels strange because she is a User," Tron said, "Flynn complained about it once before. CLU and I thought it was amusing before…"

He cut off, bowing his head.

"Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if CLU never betrayed us," he finished.

"You wouldn't have met Beck, Sam would probably have never come here and Raf probably wouldn't have been born," Quorra replied, "It would be peaceful, yes…but nothing would have been the same,"

"We're here," Beck announced, "Although…Tron, don't you think it might be a good idea to change the lighting color?"

"Oh right!" Raf cried, "You said that the mechanics here hate CLU as much as we do…anyone working for him would easily be a target,"

"You forget, Beck," Tron answered, "The Programs here know me already, they know a friend is under this guise. Remember, Mara and Zed both know that I'm not on CLU's side, they just don't know I'm...me,"

"Right…the whole saving them from Pavel and nearly derezzing him," Beck nodded, "Forgot about that,"

"BECK!" a male voice yelled, "Where have you been!? Mara and I were looking all over the place for you!"

The party froze as a Program around Beck's age. His primary color was white, like Raf, Beck and Quorra, but unlike Raf and Quorra, the new program had teal secondary light. Like how Jack had dark blue secondary light while his primary was a light blue.

"Guys, I'd like you to meet, Zed," Beck said, putting an arm around the Program, "One of my oldest friends,"

"And the one currently covering for you from Mara," Zed growled, "You missed another shift, she's going to derezz you one of these days, Beck,"

"Zed, these are my friends, say hi Zed,"

"Hi Zed," the Program said sarcastically, "Beck, c'mon, I can't keep covering for you,"

"He was with me, Zed," Tron spoke up, "There was a little problem with Black Guards, Beck distracted them so I could slip away,"

"Oh…" Zed started sheepishly, "Sorry sir, didn't see you. If Beck was helping you, that's fine…but you're the one who'll have to explain it to Mara,"

"Explain what to me?" a female Program asked, walking up.

Now, the trio had seen some interesting hair colors and styles on the Grid…

They weren't expecting aqua colored hair from the Program that walked up to them. Like Zed, she was also Beck's age and had the same primary white light, but with yellow secondary light.

"Beck, you are in so much trouble," the Program growled, narrowing her eyes, "Where have you been!?"

"Out with Tro-um...my friend," Beck answered, "Had a little trouble getting here,"

"Good to see you again," the Program nodded and then pointed at the others in the group, "But who're these?"

"Mara, these are my other friends from Tron City, Jack, Miko, Quorra, and her son Raf," Beck introduced, "Guys, this is Mara, my other best friend and my boss too,"

"I noticed that it says Able's Garage," Jack started, "Care to tell me the history of the name?"

The three Programs bowed their heads.

"Able was the owner of this place and he was really good at his job. He was like a grandfather or father to us all," Mara sighed, "He was killed a long time ago in an explosion while saving Zed and me,"

"I'm sorry for your loss," Jack said, "You speak of him highly,"

"He was the best," Beck smiled sadly, "Very protective of us. He'd stand in front of CLU and tell him what for if it would protect us,"

"It wouldn't surprise me," Tron muttered, more to himself than to anyone else, but Beck apparently heard his mentor and flashed him a brief smile before turning to his friends.

"You guys remember who started up that rumor about the User?" Beck asked.

"I think it was Hopper," Mara hummed, "But he's a little…out of it since Bartik…well…"

"Since Bartik was derezzed at that fight in the End of Line Club," Zed sighed, "Four Black Guards, a User and an ISO dueling. Bartik didn't really…"

Mara elbowed him, cutting him off. Jack was painfully reminded of his sister. He wondered how she was holding up in Las Vegas with the other adults, how his parents were holding up…

"You think we can go and see just in case?" Raf asked.

"I don't see why not…" Mara started, "But I doubt you'll get anything out of him. Though…why so interested in Users, Beck? The last one kinda…died,"

"Yeah, and look what we've got now," Zed grumbled, "Back under CLU's thumb. I bet if he survived that explosion, you could see it from here in the garage, then I almost bet Kevin Flynn did too,"

He looked at the others.

"C'mon, I'll show you guys where Hopper's workstation is,"

Beck started going with the others when Mara stopped him.

"Uh uh," she growled, "You need to get to work,"

Beck looked about to protest when Tron and Raf both looked at him.

The look from his mentor behind the mask was unsettling enough, the look his User was giving him begged no question.

They'd catch up with him after they'd talked with Hopper.

"Hopper," Zed started, coming up to a Program with red secondary light, "You've got some Programs who want to see you,"

The Program lifted his head, eyes tired and sad, and looked at the group.

"We heard you knew the whereabouts of the User," Quorra said gently, "Can you tell us what you know?"

"You'll never get him," Hopper sighed, "CLU's got him…"

"We know that," Tron said, "Do you know where they're holding him?"

"I…I don't know where exactly," Hopper protested, "But…you can try…"

Suddenly, screams filled the air and the group jolted, watching in horror as Black Guards poured into the garage, derezzing the workers without mercy.

"WHERE ARE THEY!?" a voice yelled as the group ran towards the main entrance.

A red lit Program glared around the room as Mara stepped up.

"Where are who, Pavel," she growled, "We have a lot of Programs here in case you haven't noticed,"

"General Tesler disagrees," the Program, Pavel, snapped, "CLU has said there were a group of Programs, ISOs and Users coming to Argon and the General has appointed me to find them,"

"All we have are Programs here," Mara snapped back, "And I can attest to that,"

"Then you won't mind if we look around?" the other Program smirked.

"Be my guest," Mara growled.

"Search everywhere," Pavel ordered the Black Guards, "Leave no place unchecked!"

"We need to get out of here," Raf whispered, "If they find us…"

"Keep your hood over your eyes," Quorra breathed, pulling said hood over her son's head, "Remember…you've got the Flynn's wild hair and its really recognizable. The only reason they haven't derezzed Beck yet is because they know he's a Program and one that hasn't been used in a while,"

"Papá said that they booted him out of the factory system," Raf said, "To make room for more newer programs that were not made by a nine year old. That's why I was shocked he was still here,"

"Speaking of Beck…where is he?" Miko asked.

Tron gave a growling sigh as he looked towards the back of the garage.

"He's being noble again," was all that was said…right as a white garbed Program stood on the top level, "I might as well help,"

"PAVEL!" Beck yelled, "Leave these Programs alone!"

Multiple whispers of 'Tron' rippled through the crowd of mechanics while Pavel glared up at the young Program.

"Ah, Renegade…still alive after all these years," he snorted.

"And still functioning quite well," Beck snapped.

"Let me guess," Pavel sighed, "You're not going to give yourself up?"

"Not on your User,"

"You know Users don't exist, Renegade," Pavel growled.

"Oh? Then who wrote you?" Beck asked as he jumped down from the upper level, his Disk gleaming brightly, "Or did you just crawl out of the Sea of Simulation?"

"Beck…" Tron growled softly to himself, "Not funny,"

Pavel growled darkly and pointed at Beck.

"Get him!" he shouted.

And that was when Tron joined in.

"Rinzler!" Pavel breathed as the twin Disked Program and the white garbed Renegade started derezzing Black Guards left and right, "But…he's dead!"

Tron turned his blank mask towards Pavel, a low, rumbling growl emanating from him as he stalked forwards.

Pavel scrambled backwards as Tron advanced, Disks glowing menacingly as Beck fought the other Black Guards. He tripped, falling on top of Raf as Beck took a Disk to the helmet.

Mara shrieked as Beck fell, his mask cracked but still covering most of his face.

Pavel got up to his feet, grabbing Raf and holding him as a hostage.

"One more step, Rinzler, and this Program is derezzed," Pavel threatened.

Tron hesitated and Quorra screamed trying to reach her son but Jack and Miko holding her back…for her own safety. If she had gone…the Black Guards would have derezzed her and Raf.

Jack growled darkly to himself, wishing now more than ever that he was able to use his abilities…but still, like always, he remained in his human form.

"LET GO OF HIM!" Quorra shrieked, "LET GO OF MY SON!"

Raf struggled, his irises flickering bright blue instead of soft brown as he fought. Pavel didn't pay any attention to him.

"Now…I'm going to go back into the Recognizer…and you're going to let me leave," Pavel threatened, "Otherwise the little Program ends up in nice little cubes all over the floor,"

"I'm not a Program," Raf growled softly as he stomped hard on Pavel's foot, making the Program yelp and release him.

The boy tumbled to the floor, his hands smacking the surface…

And the lights went dark as spider-webs of blue arched through the floor, streaming up the machinery and fixtures.

Raf's hood slipped off, revealing his face as he stood.

"My name is Rafael Flynn,"

Jack and Miko looked at each other and released Quorra, who shot over to Pavel, Disk blazing.

Pavel yelled and barely had time to raise his own Disk as Quorra's screeched off his. The ISO fought with a fury befitting that of a mother protecting her only child, Pavel was soon cut in many different places as Quorra came down on him.

Tron knelt down and placed his hands on Raf's shoulders.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"Fine," Raf nodded, "Mom on the other hand…"

Suddenly, Beck let out a triumphant cry as the last Black Guard derezzed, falling into tiny ruby cubes all over the floor. The Program's knees buckled and he stumbled, his body covered in cube-like markings signaling that he was partially derezzed in those areas. Mara and Zed caught him and laid him down on the ground looking over his wounds.

"Go, give him some space," Mara ordered the other mechanics, "You all have the rest of the day off,"

The crowd soon dissipated and Quorra swept her son into an embrace.

"Are you ok?" she asked.

"I'm fine," Raf smiled, "Tron asked me the same thing,"

"Where's Pavel?" Tron asked.

"Ran like the coward he is," Quorra growled, "I thought I'd let you or Beck get the honor of derezzing him,"

"Speaking of Beck…" Jack started, "Maybe we should go look at him, make sure he's ok,"

They made their way over to the three Programs right as Mara looked up.

"I can see some of his face," she reported, "But he's wounded under his helmet…I don't know if I should remove it or not…it'll show Zed and I what he looks like and I'm not sure Tron will want that,"

"I think it is time you know who is behind that mask," Tron said softly, "It isn't who you think it is,"

The two Programs frowned, but Mara started to work on getting Beck's helmet retracted…

With a soft click, the helmet retracted, revealing Beck's unconscious face.

"BECK!?" they both demanded.

The wounded Program's eyes cracked open, realizing that the mask was gone and he gave a weak smile.

"Still think I look handsome, Mara?" he joked, "Or was it the mask that really did it?"

She looked away, biting her lip in embarrassment as Beck turned to Zed.

"I borrowed that light-cycle of yours to stop Paige from diffusing some grenades I set on a drill…I meant to give it back but…," he started, "You still hate me?"

"You running around in a Tron costume and making CLU and Tesler very angry, enforcing a curfew on us all, getting us in trouble time and time again, all those shifts I had to pick up for you and you stole my bike…why would I be mad?" Zed snorted, "Beck, c'mon, why'd you do it?"

"Why didn't you tell us?" Mara asked, "We would have helped…you told me you couldn't use me for the resistance!"

"I was keeping you safe," Beck protested as Tron jerked off the Program's Disk, "Ow! Hey!"

"You want to derezz, Beck?" Tron growled.

"…No…"

"Then let me finish this," Tron turned to Raf, "You might want to see this. This is how you repair a Program's coding,"

"Why are you showing me this?" Raf asked.

"You never know when you might have to use it," was the answer as Tron finished repairing Beck's coding and snapped the Disk back on the younger Program, watching as the wounds healed.

"So if you're the Renegade," Zed started, "Who's he?"

He pointed at Tron and then at the other members of the group.

"And what about them?"

"I'm a system monitor and Beck's mentor and that's all you really need to know," Tron replied.

"A system monitor?" Mara asked, "There's only one left…the others are sentries…oh my User!"

Her eyes grew wide as she realized who she kneeled in front of.

"Tron lives," she breathed.

Tron gave a nod and then looked at the others.

"You've heard stories of ISOs, like the one at the Club where Bartik died," Quorra sighed, "I'm the one who saw him die,"

"And you said he's your son…" Zed started, looking at Raf, "But he…what he did…that's User territory…"

"He's my User," Beck grunted as he sat up, "Raf Flynn,"

Both Zed and Mara stared at Beck like he had been repurposed into CLU's henchprogram in a second.

"You're a Flynn's Program?" they demanded.

"That explains a lot," Zed muttered, "How you're so good with coding and apparently fighting too…"

"And those two?" Mara asked, looking at Jack and Miko.

"Also Users," Jack said, "Jack Darby and Miko Nakadai, we, along with Raf, were sucked in here by accident. We're looking for Sam Flynn so we can get out of here,"

"And delete CLU from the system," Raf added, "Once we're out…we can zap him so he can't bother you all anymore. But we've got to find my dad,"

"I haven't heard many rumors of the Son of Flynn," Zed said, "Just what Hopper said about him possibly being in Tron City,"

"Then that's where we need to go," Tron growled.

"I'm coming with you," Beck stated, getting up and nearly falling, having to have Mara and Zed hold him up.

"No, Beck, you're going to stay here," Tron ordered, "Until you get back on your feet,"

He turned to Zed and Mara.

"Watch him, make sure he doesn't do anything stupid," he warned looking at Beck.

The white Program bowed his head and Raf touched his arm.

"You'll be feeling better soon, I promise," Raf told him.

"Thanks, Raf," Beck sighed dejectedly.

"Good luck," Mara called as the group started out.

"We'll take good care of Beck," Zed added.

Raf pulled the hood back over his head as he and his group walked away from the garage.

"I feel bad for leaving him there," he said.

"Beck knows that he would be a liability to the mission," Tron sighed, "That's why he didn't put up much of a fight back there. Trust me…he'll be back, he's got a knack for tracking things just like I do,"

Now we go back to Tron City, that ought to be fun. Who knows...maybe we'll get that anticipated fight between Tron and Defcon that I keep getting PMs about? Speaking of Defcon...If you're wondering about what the Program looks like...I'm going to put a link on my profile of a picture I did of him...and it's got a little snippet from a chapter I'm going to be writing for the story...Let's see if you can guess who Defcon was before he became CLU's henchprogram!

Anyway, hope you liked it. If you did, please R&R! :)
