Chapter 10 – Flash
I was woken up by the sun shining in my face, damn.. no curtains? I turned around saw Eren lying next to me, he had the tiniest smile on his face. I let my hand glide over his cheek and he slowly opened his eyes. ''Morning Beautiful.'' He said. I managed to push out a small ''Good morning'' before looking away, blushing. We got out of the bed, and only now I noticed how much my back hurt.. probably the combination of the stone wall and the hard bed.. ''Let's get dressed!'' Eren said cheerfully ''Today we are going to see how you handle the 3DMG!''. I was shocked, ''The.. 3DMG? Me? But I.. I'm not a.. I'm not really prepared to die..'' I stuttered. ''Don't worry, it's just.. uhm..'' Eren looked at the floor ''We have an expedition soon and I really want you to see the outside world.. I want.. I want to see it together with you.'' ''We'll see..''. Geez, how dare he be so adorable, I thought to myself as I got dressed into the white pants and brown jacket. As I was doing my hair into a side braid I noticed that Eren was looking at me curiously. ''it's a braid'' I said. ''Yeah, I know I'm not that stupid.'' Eren said, a bit annoyed. ''Sorry.. I.. maybe I can teach you to braid too..'' I looked at the clock, 7:30 already. ''I can teach you later!'' I said ''Let's get something to eat!'' I pulled Eren to the dining hall with me. Everyone was already there, including ice cold queen Ackerman. She came running toward Eren and started to whisper in his ear, I decided I'd be better of snatching some bread from Sasha before she ate it all. ''Good morning Anna! Are you excited for today?'' Krista asked me as I was biting down on the small piece of bread I had managed to rip away from Sasha. ''Yeah, pretty excited.. but also pretty nervous to be honest..'' "Don't worry! You'll be fine!'' Krista encouraged me. I was just chatting with Krista and Ymir when Hange walked in and said ''Training will begin in 5 minutes, gather outside.'' Everyone went outside and in the big crowd I was searching for Eren, but couldn't find him.. I was nervous enough.. Come on Eren where are you? ''You can come with us.'' Ymir said to me and nodded at the door.
When I walked outside the door I saw that Hange had set up one of the special 3DMG training poles just for me.. I could feel myself getting more nervous by the second. ''Everyone, put on your 3DMG and start practicing in the forest with Mike and Nanaba.'' Levi ordered and he looked at me ''Except you cadet, come here.'' The clasps were attached to my 'skirt' and Hange lifted me into the air as Levi was standing right in front of me, checking my every move.
I couldn't stop smiling, I couldn't believe it! I was told I was a natural by Levi, the Levi, humanity's strongest! I saw Eren standing at the edge of the forest, looking around him.. as if he was searching for someone.. ''EREN!'' I yelled as I came running toward him ''I MADE IT!'' I saw Eren's face light up as I ran closer to him and eventually collapsed into his arms. ''A natural talent they said, I'm already allowed to practise with you in the forest!'' ''Really? That's great!''. Well.. practise.. could I call it that.. I wasn't allowed to wield any swords yet.. I was only allowed to 'try out the 3DMG in the forest', but it was fine by me! I watched everyone fly around and got all excited ''Let's go!'' I said as I shot my hook into the nearest tree and flung myself up to a steady branch. Eren came flying toward me too, a bright smile on his face. ''You really are a natural Anna! Just like Mikasa!'' Ah yes, Mikasa.. where was she anyway? Well.. no time to worry about that! I shot my hook into another tree and started flying around, Eren following me closely. Suddenly I heard someone call my name, it was Krista standing on a nearby branch. ''Anna! You're -'' I couldn't hear the rest because it was too far away, so I decided I'd go to the branch Krista and Ymir were standing on. ''Anna, you're doing great!'' she said as I landed on the branch. ''You think so? Thank you Krista!'' Eren landed beside me and looked at me, worried. ''Aren't you tired Anna..?''. Well.. now he mentions it.. I was.. but I was having so much fun, so I simply replied ''Nah.'' Just when I was about to start flying again, I heard Sasha call out my name. ''Anna! Look what Connie can do!'' I looked at the two standing on a branch close to ours and smiled, ''Show me then!''. ''Okay, prepare yourselves!'' Connie said and he shot his first hook into the tree branch we were standing on, Krista let out a small squeak but was quickly silenced by Ymir saying that if Connie hit her she would kill him. Connie was focusing on something behind me, I turned around and realised he was focusing on the tree right behind me.. what was he going to do? Connie looked ready and pulled the trigger.. I could hear the cable reeling out and tried to follow the way the hook was taking. I could hear Krista squeak again, but this time louder, then I realised why.. The hook was coming straight for me! I tried to move out the way but it didn't matter, the hook hit me right in my left (upper) leg and buried itself deep in my flesh. I was pushed away by the force of the hook and fell of the branch. I could hear multiple people scream my name, but I couldn't manage to open my eyes as I was falling down.. I could hear Sasha scream ''Eren don't.. We don't know if you're allowed to..-'' A loud bang filled my ears and a yellow flash coloured the sky.
