Characters – V&K

General disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story.

AN: Insert any of my regular excuses as to why I haven't updated in a few months here, then continue on to story below. XD

If it's any consolation, I did start a new fic. A regular story, not a series of shorts like this one. So, it's not a complete lack of writing... I just won't be posting that one until it's complete. We don't need another "Whatever It Takes" happening. .

Minako briefly cast her glance upward to see what her uninvited visitor had set in front of her, before she pushed it away and went back to looking at what she had been doing. "I'm not sick."

"Minako." came back the nearly commanding reply.

She huffed and closed the binder. For good measure, she roughly set it down on the table and punctuated her frustration by nearly throwing her pen down on top of it. "I'm not sick, Kunzite."

He sat down across from her and pushed the box of medication back in her direction. "Yes. You. Are."

"I told Mako-chan earlier, that I was fine. And then I told Ami-chan I was fine. And now they send you in here? What part of I am not sick don't you people understand?!" At that point, the tickle that had been building in her throat won the battle, and launched her into a nasty coughing fit.

Instinctively, Kunzite reached out for her, but she pushed his hand away, shaking her head, and leaned back into her chair to catch her breath when it was over. "I told you," she paused to clear her throat, and reached for a tissue to wipe her nose that had suddenly decided it needed to leak—traitorous thing, "I'm fine."

Kunzite frowned and reached over to feel the temperature of her forehead, despite her death glare. "No you're not. You are burning up."

"I'm fine," she repeated. "I have work to do. The new trade treaty will be finalized on Friday, and I have work to do before I leave." She shot him the most determined look she could muster. "I am going. I am not sick."

"You are sick, and you need to rest. I can finish this for you-"

She snatched the paperwork away and stood up a little quicker than she probably should have. Okay, maybe a lot quicker. All she would later remember is the room starting to spin and blacking out.

(AN: I don't know how common it is, but I remember once spiking a high fever and passing out like this, so that's what I'm going with!)

Minako awoke at some point later that day in her apartment in the palace comfortably situated in her plush bed. On her night stand, was a glass of water and an assortment of medication, along with a note in Ami's handwriting that read, "I told you so." At the foot of her bed, a pair of pajamas had been laid out. Her favorite pair, actually. After a quick shower, a change of clothes, and a dose of whatever Ami had laid out for her, she walked in to the living area of her quarters to find none other than the stoic know-it-all himself sitting on her couch.

And he was working on her paperwork.

She couldn't even be happy about it. Or impressed. Or slightly in awe of how awesome he could sometimes be. She was only annoyed. Annoyed that he didn't listen to her. It was her work, and her mission, and she was going to complete it.

But, it was kind of sweet.

She waltzed over to the over-sized chair across from her couch and settled in, waiting for him to acknowledge she was there. Once he did, she crossed her arms and spoke. "What happened?"

The slightest of smirks crossed his face, "I told you. You're sick." Seeing her scowl, he closed the binder and set it down on the recently decluttered coffee table. He could never stand the mess. "Your fever spiked and you fainted, Minako. I had Ami meet us here. She says you have the flu."

"The flu. Who gets the flu? Psh." she said as she dismissively waved her hand in the air.

"Apparently, you." He smiled and reached across the small distance to hold her hand. "You shouldn't push yourself so much when you aren't well. There are plenty of us to help you out."

"But I don't need help," she ended with a wink. "I'm just a little sleepy. A little achy. And my throat is killing me. And maybe a little feverish..." she trailed off momentarily. "But, I'm good to go! I can finish up this trade deal just fine. Vchan can do this!"

Kunzite shook his head a bit at her enthusiasm and planted a quick, tender kiss on her forehead before walking over to her kitchen. "Makoto sent over some soup earlier. Would you like me to heat some up?"

"I thought it was starve a fever, feed a cold?"

"Your fever abated about an hour ago. I think you're okay to eat."

He'd been checking her temperature? Okay, he was definitely being sweet. She smiled and gave him a nod. "Okay, sounds good. I really haven't eaten much today." Seeing he'd entered the kitchen to start on the soup, she grabbed the binder on the table and started to flip through, curious to see what he'd done. Much to her surprise, he'd finished up what was left, and had made comments in the margin throughout. She smiled as she read one of the more positive remarks he'd scribbled.

It wasn't soon before she finished, that he appeared before her with a nice, hot bowl of Mako's famous chicken noodle soup. She accepted it appreciatively and settled back into her chair. After a few moments, she gestured over to the binder with a nod of her head, "So, you think my proposal is good, huh?"

He simply smiled that half-cocked smile he always did and nodded his head.

She beamed back confidently. "And, hey," she said while pointing at him with her spoon, "The flu is contagious, isn't it? You know, if you get sick, too, I can totally come take care of you, too. To repay the favor and all. Nurse V returns!"

At this, he chuckled. He had heard all too well this story. And there was no way in hell he was going to let it happen.

"What? What's so funny? I am an excellent nurse, I'll have you know."

"I don't get sick."

But as it turns out Kunzite does get sick. But, he is also a lucky fellow, because by the time he did, Nurse Venus was half way around the world on her very important business. And he couldn't be happier.

AN: I don't love it. But, this has been sitting on my computer for like, 6 months, and I feel soooo guilty about it. I have several half-completed chapters on here that I just can't figure out how I want them to go. I'm working on finishing them—whether I love the end result or not. They will get published, and flushed from my brain, and new stuff can happen!

And, uh... I don't really have an excuse. I mean, yeah, we packed up all our things and moved several states away, yet again, but it's not like my computer is in storage. Can I blame Netflix? . Keep an eye out for new stuff!
