Chapter Nine

Tifa Lockhart made her way through the streets quickly, finding the area that Aerith had told her to come. Cid`s Airway was a rundown building with a few broken windows and it seems to be falling apart at first glance. The young woman, with her hood up quickly made her way toward it glancing around herself for a few seconds before throwing the door open.

Inside she found herself staring down the barrel of a gun.

"Don't move," the voice said.

Tifa froze looking at the man across her. He had long hair which seems to fall upon a side of his face. He was handsome by standards but the cold look upon his features caused his lone eye to seemingly glow in the room.

"Lagune," Aerith said.

The young woman had approached forward along with another young man, thought this one had short hair falling around his face. He had a scar across his nose and he was wearing a jacket with fur around the hood and long black pants. A strange weapon hung loosly by his waist and he had both of his hand crossed over his chest.

"She is a Level 9 threat level," the man called Lagune said, "She is no better than those Templates of JENOVA."

"The Director had given us new orders Lagune," the other man spoke out, "So stand down."

The man, Lagune, lowered the weapon he was holding and Tifa let go of the Materia she was holding in her pocket. The young woman glanced toward Aerith.

"You have a lot of explaining to do," she said, "These men…that Aunty you have…how your mother always had a bodyguard...It doesn`t add up. Why would they be someone protecting you all this time? Why was Kadaj so interested in seeing you dead? Just who are you Aerith?"

Aerith look at her.

"A friend of mine, Cid has an airship that will take us straight to Nibel," she said, "I will explain everything to you soon, but please Tifa, please be patient till then."

Tifa looked at her, seeing those eyes imploring her. Tifa tightened the fist she has in her pocket in annoyance. She wanted to know what exactly was going on with the young woman in front of her.

"You better have one hell of a story to tell me Aerith," she said to the woman in front of her.

Aerith had relieved that she had dropped the subject, at least for now.

"Cid will be here soon," the young man with the short hair said, "How about you get cleaned up from the dust Aerith?"

The young girl nodded.

"You too Tifa," she said.

"I`m fine," the dark haired woman told her.

But Aerith wasn`t taking no for an answer. To Tifa`s surprise, the younger woman took hold of her hand and pulled her along.

"Aerith…what are you?"

"You`ve got to take a shower," Aerith told her, "I`m sure that there are some clothes here that could fit you…"

Tifa let out a tired sigh, letting the young woman pull her forward. Aerith reminded her of someone she use to know back then…at Nibelheim before it was destroyed. A girl that Tifa was friend with…seeing Aerith`s face so free and smiling freely, Tifa had found herself reminded of her…

Despite her earlier misgivings, a good shower was a blessing in disguise and Tifa had found herself enjoying it immensely. The young woman had now dressed herself in black shorts with a sleeveless shirt and a black zip up vest upon it. The young woman had let her hair fall down upon her back as she tightened her shoes on. The short had a long ankle length skirt falling behind her.

Tifa placed her gloves on, flexing her wrist.

Then she walked back downstairs finding the short haired young man from earlier. He was smoking a cigarette, the red glow lightening up each time he brings the cancer stick to his lips.

"So you`re Tifa Lockhart eh," he said, "You`ve got quite a records following after you."

Tifa observed him.

"Who do you work for really?" she asked.

The man let a small smirk grew upon his lips.

"Name`s Squall by the way," he said, "DISSIDIA Agent clearance Level 6."

"DISSIDIA?" Tifa repeated.

"You wouldn`t hear of it," Squall told her as he let out a cloud of smoke from his lips, "We`ve done a good job keeping our existence off the radar of the ordinary day citizens…thought I would hardly call you that Lockhart?"

"You knew of me long before we met," Tifa said, "Your Director knew who I was…how is that possible?"

"If you want to have an answer," Squall told her, "You`d have to ask the Director herself."

Tifa stayed silent.

"And what is DISSIDIA?"

"It`s a secret organization," Squall told her, "That`s all you need to know about it."

Footsteps drew the duo`s attention and Aerith along with Lagune was there.

"C`mon," Aerith said, "Cid is here."

SHINRA Building

Cloud Strife was standing inside an elevator. He had gotten back the SHINRA over an hour ago and had to write another report about what had happened in Sector Seven with the giant monster who had simply disappeared into smoke when they had defeated it, meaning it wasn`t an ordinary monster…

Just another crazy day in my life I guess, the SOLDIER yawned.

Then in front of him, the elevator door opened and Tseng was there. The Turk was still wearing the dreaded black suits that his section was associated with. The man walked inside and came to stand beside him.

"I didn't think you Turks even know these elevators existed," Cloud told him.

"Hello to you to Cloud," Tseng told him.

Cloud chuckled at the deadpan answer and simply stood there as the elevator started to move again.

"Quite something you`ve done today by the way," Tseng told him, "That monster`s appearance earlier took everyone by surprise."

"You can say that again," Cloud sighed, "Has the Turks find any trace of what could have caused it to appear there."

"We are still searching," Tseng told him, "But I am sure some answers might turn up tomorrow at the latest."

"Good," Cloud said, "I want some of those events these past days to actually make freaking sense."

Tseng only gave him a nod in acknowledgment.

The elevator came to a stop and the doors slid open letting in more people and Cloud recognized a few Turks among them. He simply shrugged his shoulders and let the elevator continue it`s route.

"Say where Fair by the way?" Tseng asked him, "I was by his office earlier and he wasn't there."

Cloud frowned.

"I don't know, he said he had to do some more work," the blond said.

"Ah," Tseng said.

"I would have though you of all people would know where Zack is," Cloud told him.

Tseng shook his head.

"With all that was happening lately…it`s hard to keep track of it all,"

Cloud nodded at him.

Then the elevator door opened again a few people stepped out but a couple of more Turks stepped inside. Cloud was actually feeling a little surprised at the number of Turks there was there. Those guys hardly took the elevator before...

Something shiny caught his eyes and he glance down toward it, noticing the handle of something metallic sticking out of one of the Turks jacket. He was about to say something about it to the Turk before he paused, his mind slowly wrapping itself around the situation around him at the known facts about the Turks sprung into his mind. Turks didn`t take the elevator because they always leave the building by helicopter and since their floor is the lowest of the building, they were hardly seen in the elevators, so why were so many of them in here with him?

Cloud glanced forward again taking in the reflection of the metallic shadows upon the side of where the buttons where, taking notice of his own reflection`s shoulder but also of a Turk that had placed himself in a corner and he can see the man`s hand slowly moving toward his jacket.

Just what the fuck…

He hardly finished this though when Tseng suddenly turned around, pulling a long staff from his clothes and hit Cloud straight into his chest. A shock like no other ran through Cloud causing the young man to yell out in pain feeling as if something had stabbed him straight through him. At the same time, the Turks in the room sprung into action taking hold of his form as he stumbled back.

"Keep him still," Tseng ordered.

"What are you doing Tseng?" Cloud yelled, feeling oddly weakened.

"Nothing personal Cloud," Tseng told him as he approached, "I hope you understand."

He stabbed Cloud with the object in his hand again causing the SOLDIER to yell out in pain as it coursed through his form and Cloud struggled against the hold that had him and feel more pain surging through his body.

What the fuck…what the hell…Why is Tseng trying to fucking kill me?

Cloud feel his strength weakening with how much that damn thing was coursing through his body and then he simply launched his feet forward smacking Tseng straight into the face. The Turk actually did a spin the air as he was thrown back crashing against the ceiling of the room.

The young man brought his feet back down unto the ground and he activated the Materia he had upon him, his Quake Materia and then he launched his fist to the side hitting the wall of the elevator.

The effect was instantaneous.

A sudden shockwave shook the entire elevator causing it to rattle as the light flickered off and on as the hands which were holding him let go at the sudden shaking and Cloud took his chance. He instantly gets back to his feet facing the Turks who were all coming at him with the sticks in their hands. He took hold of the arm one of the one who attacked first. The SOLDIER took hold of the arm, taking the weapon from his hand and then knocking the guy out with his elbow.

Holding the weapon in his hand, Cloud activated it refocusing his attention toward the group in front of him. Then he struck forward with his increased speed and superhuman like reflexes, Cloud took down each Turks one after the other until he was the last person standing inside the entire elevator.

The SOLDIER stood still in the room for a few seconds before turning his attention toward Tseng on the ground. Then he walked forward and took hold of the man…

He need some fucking answers…and he needed them now…

An attack upon Cloud`s life...Just what is going on?
