New Chapter here, guys! Hope you like.

Chapter 10 – Evolution

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! #SMASH# THIS #CRUSH# IS SO #BASH# FUN!"

"I wouldn't #SMASH# think that #CRASH# right now."

Adam groaned as he face palmed himself, not caring that his arms were in their claw forms as he jumped, ducked, dove and dodged the enemy's attacks. The Beast that he had found, one that they codenamed 'Scorpios' due to its unique appearance mostly resembling that Villain in the Mummy 2, according to Sophie anyways, had been trying to bash their heads in with its claws, Pincers and Tail ever since she joined the battle. It hadn't hit them yet, but they couldn't keep this up with the lack of infected to consume.

Fortunately, the Scorpios seemed to be under the same limitation, as that was why it hadn't been firing many Spike Barrages. On the downside tough, every platform had been reduced to rubble by its hand, leaving the ground throughout the room more like the remains of a building collapsing from a bomb than an underground room.

This was good because they could use the rubble as cover to shield them from the direct attacks that the Scorpios was favoring. It didn't seem to have the right mind to grab the rubble and use them as projectiles, either, which was a blow to its intelligence points if this was a game. They could also use the ruble to stage sneak attacks, which was what they were doing right now.

On the other hand, it made mobility on the ground significantly more difficult, and most of their fighting was on the ground. The beast wouldn't let them get off the ground either since it would unleash Tendrils from its torsos, showing that they didn't just fire Spike Projectiles. These Tendrils would grab them while they were in the air, pull them in close for a slash to the chest from its claws, or a smash from overhead from its Pincer. The latter was easy to dodge, but the former?

Not so much.

'Though I didn't think she would be having such a field day with this…' Adam thought, casting a weird glance over to the panting woman who was currently engaging the Scorpios. She side flipped over one Pincer swing, ducked under a claw slash, before sidestepping several attempts to stomp on her with its long legs. She looked to be having the time of her life, judging by the gleeful expression on her features, combined with the sweat oozing off her forehead like waterfalls.

She then flipped backwards into a handstand, before pulling off a split kick. Though strange, Adam didn't think her bloodlust was technically bad in this situation, she had used it to unlock some interesting abilities for her Prototype powers. Powers that he himself lacked at this time, though he didn't exactly mind since he had found some new abilities of his own.

From the leg aimed at the Scorpios, Adam saw how a large blob of liquified Biomass was launched from the kick and into its face. The blob had solidified during mid-flight, resulting in a hit with the strength of a Tank shell, sending the Scorpios stumbling backwards while Sophie flipped to her feet.

'Ah yes, the 'Bio-Bullet.' Adam thought, remembering he name that Sophie called this ability of hers. The Bio Bullet basically was forming a liquified lump of Biomass around any one of her limbs, or even all four, then launch them at the enemy. They would solidify through exposure to the air, turning them into projectiles that were as strong as a Tank shell, making them especially deadly against armored Targets,

The Scorpios was one such target.

Sophie wiped the sweat off her brow, slightly wheezing from the amount of effort she was putting into this fight. "Whew, this sucker's a toughie, isn't he?" she mused to her companion. She only received a wordless nod from him, much to her slight annoyance.

"Again, with the silent treatment? Why-no, no…" Slowly, she looked to the side and began convincing herself that it was alright, that she wasn't annoyed by his attitude… while crushing a nearby piece of rubble with her fists. "Its fine… its fine, girl… if he wants to be an annoying brat, let him be an annoying brat… you're the big girl here, you're the adult and he's a kid…"

'Something tells me her hot temper mixes well with her powers…' Adam thought while glancing to the Scorpios. The said infected recovered swiftly from Sophie's Bio Bullet as it gave a loud roar, one that echoed across the entire room. Sophie growled in irritation, dark blue Tendrils swirling around her in annoyance which was mirrored by the virus strain within her. "Oh, goddamn give that ugly mug of yours a rest already! Seriously, it's so ugly that your grandma, if you have one, doesn't even like it!"

The monster didn't like that, and it showed its 'displeasure' by stabbing its claws into some nearby rubble, before lifting those arms. Their eyes narrowed as it pulled the Rubble off the ground and reared them back, before being thrown at them like projectiles. As the projectiles sailed towards them, both reacted in their own ways.

Sophie took a step back, readying herself for a kick. When the rubble piece was about to hit her, she struck by kicking it straight into the air. She then back flipped into a crouch, before pouring Biomass into her legs and jumping upwards after it, swiftly rearing her right arm backwards before launching a pinch to the rubble's side. The result: The rubble being deflected back at it.

Adam went for a simpler yet still effective route. He sidestepped the rubble, and as it was flung past him, he reached behind him and formed several Tendrils within his arm's sleeve. He then shot them out towards the piece like a bunch of spider webbing, catching the rubble piece before swinging it above his head like a cowboy rope. He then dashed towards his prey, closing the distance between them by half before bringing the rubble piece down on its head.

The Scorpios however, dodged both of these by jumping to the side, only to fail to see the small chunks of rubble on the ground where it would land, and thus consequently lost its balance. This lasted a few seconds, as the creature tried to remain standing with its legs wildly trying to stab into the ground like it was a slippery surface, but that was all the two needed.

"Now's our chance, Neller!"

"Yep! Yay, you talked to me!"

Rolling his eyes, Adam charged towards the beat with Sophie running alongside him. Her two arms were reared back for a double palm while two Bio Bullets swirled around them. Meanwhile, the male's claws gleamed menacingly, eager to rip into their prey with reckless abandon.

Before the beast regained its balance, both Adam and Sophie jumped towards its chest, striking as one. The former struck by spinning into a slashing claw frenzy, leaving vicious marks on its Armor that allowed the latter's close-range Bio Bullets to shred the Armor to pieces. They finished off their combination attack with a double spinning roundhouse kick to the creature's face.

It gave a shrill shriek of pain, being sent flying by the attack. It went about 10 meters before it crashed onto the ground with a loud THUD, a low ring of dust being created from the impact as it lay there, unmoving.

'Is it… dead?'

Adam wondered this as he heard Sophie start celebrating, whooping for joy while jumping up and down excitably. "Whooo, hooo! Yay! Finally, that fucking cocksucker is fucking dead as fuck! Yeah, hell to the fucking yeah, boi!" she shrieked to the heavens, causing Adam to cover his ears while cringing.

Think of a loud scream from a heavy metal band, then amplify that.

Yeah…. A LIIIIIIIIIIITLE bit loud.

'AAAAARGH! Damnit woman, do you have to be so freaking loud?!' Adam shrieked mentally, covering his ears while feeling the frenzied shrieking of distress by the virus strain within him. It took everything he had to not go Gallagher on her brain matter right then and there.

"Whooo! Whew, there, now that's outta my system…" Sophie spoke, heaving a heavy sigh as she finally dealt with all the adrenaline coursing through her. Well, she attributed to it as adrenaline, but being what she was, it was likely just Biomass disguised as adrenaline. "So, who are you anyways?" she asked, turning to face the male while holding a hand over her hip. "A kid like you shouldn't be out on his own like this."

Adam's eyes narrowed in annoyance at that remark. "I've been on my own since the outbreak first began, I'll have you know. Pretty sure that doesn't make me a kid." He stated, for the woman to just dismissively give a 'pft' while waving her hand.

"Details, details." She remarked, before her demeanor changed yet again. This time, her eyes shined and a warm smile formed on her features. "Anyways, I'm glad I found you, I've been worried sick that you would have gotten hurt or worse killed out here." A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she put a hand on her chest. "You really had me worried there, kid."

The teen, upon hearing her words, gave a raised brow in her direction. "Why would you worry about someone you don't even know? This ain't one of those cliché comic book stories where the hero befriends every fucking goddamn person ever." He questioned her suspiciously. Tendrils swirled around his arms, ready to launch at any time as he clinked his claws together, creating sparks between the blade-like fingers.

Part of him had to admit though, it was a relief that this conversation was going in a way he was familiar with. Part of him had been panicking at the thought of having a talk with someone, it wasn't something he was used to. Not during his childhood, and especially not in the last 2 months. Subconsciously, he also noticed how much that he desired something like this, someone to talk to without having to stab his claws through their gut.

Didn't hinder his self-preservation instincts though.

Sophie responded by rolling her eyes, shrugging her shoulders. "Hey, don't get all cynical on me now, that's Heller's job. Anyways, why wouldn't I? True this isn't some superhero movie, but I figured that since you and I…" she pointed a finger at his chest, then at herself. Tendrils rippled over her body to further pronounce her point. "…are of the same kind, I figured it'd be best for us three to stick together."

Adam gazed into her eyes, evaluating her words and trying to see if she was lying. His ears trained themselves on her heartbeat, while his nose twitched to see of she was sweating irregularly. These were the best ways to tell when someone was lying, he'd done it many times whenever he hunted Blackwatch soldiers. They'd try and say that they knew what they actually didn't, but he'd never fall for their act. Not with his senses being as they were, and so they would end up being consumed in a messier manner than they would have originally.

Seeing that he couldn't detect any lies or deceit from her, Adam gulped with nervousness, although he hid it well. As he said, he wasn't used to conversation that was even a little civil like this, especially with a woman. Usually he'd be ripping apart guys by now, consuming them for their Biomass, their shapes and their memories. With the exception of his sister, this was probably one of the only women he'd ever talked to,

It was honestly kind of nerve wracking…

Did he have some form of autism spectrum disorder, Adam wondered.

Before he could answer though, his ears twitched as he heard a slight growl from nearby. His instincts, once again, told him to get the hell out of there, and he quickly reacted to the. "Get here!" he yelled, eyes wide as he grabbed Sophie by the waist, catching her by surprise if her expression was any indication, before jumping back towards the entrance to the room.

It was a good thing too, because a Crab Claw had almost stabbed them from where they had once stood. It only missed them by a hair, too, a testament to the limb's speed and how they didn't notice till that last moment.

"Holy shit!"

Sophie exclaimed that as she and Adam landed on the ground, sliding to a halt before he swiftly removed his arm from her waist. For some reason, he found the lack of warmth from another person… disappointing, perhaps? Adam shook his head, better focus on the battle right now.

Looked like round two was about to begin.

"This fucker just won't die, will he?!" Sophie yelled as they looked towards the place where the Scorpios had been buried, to see the limb having emerged from that rubble to try and stab them. However, when it emerged, both of them quickly noticed something off about it.

"Are you seeing what I am…?"

"Yes, yes I am."

Both narrowed their eyes at the Scorpios as they got into defensive stances. Their individual virus strains warned them of the potential this new development had for their hosts, and while one of them may seem like a crazy bitch, she did listen to it this time. The Scorpios scuttled towards them, its claws at the ready… While it lacked its upper half.

Only the Scorpion half of its body was coming at them, claws bared. The Tail swayed behind it, its motions indicating that it would attack them at any moment. Both Bioweapons got themselves ready for whatever it would do next, but even through their efforts, neither of them saw this coming.

In a show of 'SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKA!' A large shadow loomed overhead, and when they looked up they finally noticed the upper body of the Scorpios… falling towards them like a freefall skydiver. With more startled curses from Sophie, the two split themselves apart to dodge the surprise attack.

That had been a signal of some sort, for the Scorpios' other half suddenly lunged into action, aiming to spear Sophie with its right claw before she could properly prep any Bio Bullets.

Out of instinct when she saw the creature advancing on her, the black haired woman raised her arms as if to form a shield in front of her, eyes closed as she looked away, hoping that she wouldn't be hurt too badly from the inevitable. A hit… that never actually came.

Opening her eyes slowly, she looked to where her arms were, and to her surprise she saw that her arms had been encased in a set of familiar dark blue Tendrils, almost like those that Adam and Mercer used to form their mutated limbs. Only in her case, her forearms each had large streams of Biomass shooting out their tops, spreading out into a rocky, flat surface and forming 2 large shields made from hardened Biomass.

Both shields looked like the Shells Turtles use, large, bulky and black, but with dark blue bioluminescent lines running through them. Each one felt like a living being, pulsating with liquified Biomass running through them like blood going through veins.

"Whoa… Holy Jesus…" Sophie barely whispered, eyes shining with awe and wonder as she regarded her two shields closely. These things would make excellent ramming weapons, or blunt weapons if the need arises. She then looked to the creature's claw, and saw how it couldn't even scratch the surface of her new toys.

A catty grin slowly formed on her lips, a sinister shine occupying her eyes as she mocked the creature while it pulled its claw back. "Heh, what's wrong, cat got your tongue?" a mocking snicker escaped her lips as she saw the scorpion beast raise its other claw to smash her to bits.

Feeling brave, the woman raised her shield and kneeled, sliding along the ground as she deflected the blow with one shield, then bashed the spot where its head would have been if it were a normal scorpion with the other. Her attack, combined with Blacklight enhanced strength, sent the beast staggering backwards. She reared a leg back, loaded it with a Bio Bullet, then kicked it to fire the projectile. It hit, sending the beast onto its back, electing a loud laugh from her. "Oh, this is gonna be FUN!"

On his end, Adam eyed the woman's use of her shields as she jumped at her opponent, laughing like a crazy person. 'Looks like her strain's mutated her some shields…' he thought. 'Shields are good defensive weapons, but depending n how you use them they can be used as offensive ones too.' He had to admit, for being what she is for so little time, Sophie Neller seemed like a natural at wielding the virus. It was almost like she belonged with it, or something. That, or she could be just crazy, he was leaning towards that option a little bit more.

Though honestly, a little crazy could be what one needs to survive in this hellhole.

Turning back to his enemy, Adam growled as he readied his claws. 'Looks like this may be a new mutation. To split its body into separate parts, it indicates that both pieces have their own brains, which allows them to function both as a whole, and an individual. If one were to break the brains, I'd safely say that it would be vulnerable to consumption until it heals.' The upper half of the Scorpios he was facing moved on these two short stubby legs, legs that barely looked like they've been used before, which had caught his attention. 'Odd, I get the feeling that this thing wasn't meant to fight yet, like it was just starting out…'

Shaking his head, the teen scraped his claws together before just charging at the monster. His claws were at his sides, flexed to show their lethal edges and tips. 'No matter, I'll think on it more when this fucker's dead.'

Adam pounced on his prey, swiping with his left claw first. He was blocked by a Pincer, and when he glanced to the side, he saw the other pincer heading for his waist. Adam kicked it out the way though, twisting so he could land on the first pincer and jump to its face. Even without its lower half, the upper half still towered over him. He then unleashed a barrage of slashes, cutting into the beast's face while gouging out one of its eyes.

It screeched and roared in pain as it stumbled back, nearly falling over on its stubby legs. At first, he thought it was luck, but then Adam looked at its right leg and noticed something… interesting, about it. There was this second lower leg growing out the back of its right calve, acting as a stable support for the overall creature somehow. A mutation perhaps?

Maybe if he could consume this thing, he could find out what this thing is and how it was made.

With that in mind, Adam grabbed a nearby piece of rubble and hurled it at the beast. It managed to regain its balance in time, and smack the rubble away, but that was what Adam counted on as he ran at its legs and cut through the left one. His eyes narrowed as he noticed that the left leg had less Armor than the right, and his claws got through it easier. He had just found a potential weak spot to this fucker.

It seemed that it was aware of this fact as well, as the Scorpios' upper half roared towards the lower half which was busy engaging Sophie. It managed to grab her when she jumped on top of it to throw her aside, then opened its many torsos for a barrage of Spikes in Adam's direction.

"KRONOS, watch out!"

He barely heard her alarmed shout as Adam swiftly stomped on the ground in front of him. A piece of it was uprooted like a ramp, with the male shooting Biomass out of his right claw at the top. The Biomass enlarged and encroached around itself, swiftly forming a large wall that blocked the Spikes from their side of the battle.

'Good, now that they're out of the way…'

With that taken care of, Adam turned towards his opponent, which was now on its legs. This time though, he noticed that the legs looked slightly more developed before. They had an additional ankle's height added to them than what he remembered, and they looked a little bulkier.

His eyes lit up in understanding when he saw this. 'I see. They're underdeveloped, and the creature is forcing them to accelerate their growth to compensate for its lack of speed.' Adam thought. 'Interesting…'

Before he could think more on the subject, the Scorpios before him roared, its torso Armor splitting open like a flower to reveal a large orange orb, buried within its torso. Adam almost groaned in exasperation. 'Are you freaking kidding me?! It has more than one projectile attack? Goddamnit, this'll be annoying…'

The orb was launched at him, and at mid-way the orb seemed to contort, like an unstable molecule, before it just… split, split into multiple smaller ones that shot at Adam at twice the original speed. This time he wouldn't have time to erect the same defenses as before, so all he could do was dive roll to the side.

Unfortunately, that left his body open to attack, and several shots managed to hit their mark on his right leg. The shots exploded like paintballs when making contact with his leg, sending rippling painful sensations through his leg that elected a sharp hiss of pain from the male.

When he was about to fall to the ground, Adam swiftly shot a hand out, palming the ground and thrusting himself back into the air. He righted himself in mid-air, before landing on the ground. While Blacklight repaired the damage on his right leg, he made sure to put more weight on his other leg till it healed.

Shame it seemed that the infected creature seemed intent on keeping him on his toes though, cause it kept shooting more and more orbs from its torso. These forced him to keep on dodging and regenerating what was damaged, wasting precious Biomass in the process. Odds were, that was what it was trying to do, Adam theorized.

In his time fighting the infected, Adam noticed that every day, bit by bit, they started to gain a sense of intelligence. Nothing that would make them able to speak or anything like that, but enough to form calculations and plan attacks. Proof was being shown right now, and when those infected attacked them back at the lab. They attacked more as a group than individual infected creatures. Adam doubted Blackwatch realized this at the moment, given that they don't experience the same things he did.

Something told him that Sophie hadn't noticed due to how psychotic and crazy she was being.

Nevertheless, Adam pointedly glared at the developing legs. He didn't want that development to complete soon, and knowing Blacklight's mutation speed he didn't have much time till they were. Didn't help that the beast was buying time with those Orbs, preventing him from attacking it till its legs would be fully formed.

He had to think of something that could stop the beast in its tracks long enough for Adam to deal the fatal blow. His senses told him that its Reserves were focused more on its legs than its upper body, which meant that if he destroyed the legs completely, then he could force it to waste Biomass to regrow them.

But to get past that armor, he would need to have something big, strong and blunt like a hammer.

PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

That was when IT happened. Adam stumbled forwards, his eyes shooting open with shock and realization in them. He felt more burning feelings swelling within his being, spreading through every cell that made him. 'Ugh…this feeling…!'

The burning condensed around his arms, triggering the evolution of the Blacklight Virus. He knew this feeling, it was the same one that he had when he gained his Claws. Biomass and Tendrils spewed forth from his shoulders, wrapping and mutating his limbs into new forms. While it felt like an eternity to him, to the casual observer it would only be a brief second or two.

There was something unique about his strain, Adam knew this instinctively. He'd seen some Blackwatch footage of Alex Mercer fighting monstrous looking infected and gaining weapons from when he consumed them. He'd seen that footage, and experienced the phenomenon himself. However, there were times where he would get unexpected mutations from out of nowhere, seemingly at random.

This would be one of those times.

Adam had no idea why this was at first, but with the knowledge that Mercer's Orb of Intrigue provided about the virus, he had some idea as to what was going on with his Blacklight Strain.

All the while the beast before him focused on trying to rush its legs development faster, its instincts screaming at it to do so.

It wasn't long before the mutation was complete, and Adam felt the burning sensations wash themselves away, like a Jetstream of water cooling down a boiling furnace. It earned a pleasured moan from his lips, Adam's eyes closed for this duration, before he opened them to inspect his new limbs.

His arms were covered in the usual dark green Tendrils. His limbs however, instead of sharp claws, were a pair of large black fists with pulsating green veins, their size being about 3 times that of the human hand. Their weight was commendable, nearly making Adam hunch when they were formed, however he refrained.

'These would work fine…'

With his plan in motion, Adam smirked, before he decided to try an improvised version of something he'd seen Mercer do in the First Outbreak through a Blackwatch Soldier's memories. He slammed both fists into the ground, causing a mini tremor that slightly shook the entire room. This caused a minor unbalance from the Scorpios' lower body fighting Sophie, which she took advantage of to smash her right shield onto one of its right legs resulting in a loud CRACK and a high pitched pained squeal.

Cleverly manipulating the Biomass in his arms, the male stepped back 10 times, his arms elongating like rubbed the more he stepped back. The weapons had been anchored into the ground just enough for this little trick to work, and if it did work Adam would be singing praises to the one that designed the idea.

Not Mercer, of course.

"Time for a Slingshot-toss!" Adam sneered, hopping and allowing the power of forces to do its thing. His arms retracted, flinging him over his new fists. They were forcefully yanked out by opposing forces, allowing him to use the momentum to spin like a spiraling sausage as he shot towards the Scorpios' upper body.

Said monster tried to block his incoming attack, but Adam reared both fists back before constantly flipping forwards like a wheel, spinning faster and faster until finally, they bashed it onto the head with great impact force. The force of his attack caused the head to collapse in on itself, being reduced to mush along with its brain. Adam flipped over the flailing body, landing behind it in a crouch before standing upright.

In contrast, the body fell to the ground torso first, which Adam found kind of ironic in its own way for it used Torsos as a means to use its projectile attacks. Once it collapsed onto the ground, Tendrils emerged from him and Adam Consumed the remains of the dead creature. He moaned in satisfaction, feeling his Biomass reserves filling significantly thanks to the larger-than-normal intake of Biomass. He'd be good for dozens of transformations at the least for a while.

The male would have turned to see how his 'comrade' was doing with her fight, step in if necessary, when he hunched over as the burning sensation from before returned with a vengeance. He barely managed to stop himself from falling over this time, and boy did his stomach feel like it was about to explode from within. "Ugh… this felling, it never gets any easier, ngh, does it…?"

It was a rhetorical question, one he didn't expect to receive an answer since his only talkative company was currently psychotically cackling like a banshee as she smashed away against her opponent. From his chest, stomach and back, black Biomass instantly spewed out of him like a waterfall, quickly encroaching itself around him. He didn't get a chance to cry out as it covered him from head to toe, before it began to solidify, fitting itself onto his frame and shifting accordingly to make sure it would be comfortable for him.

Within moments, the thing was fully solid, and the male soon regained his ability to move when the burning sensation once again was washed away by the completed process. "Ngh…. Ugh… haaah…. Haaaah… wow, that one… was more intense… than… normal." He barely got his words out as he panted, hunching forwards while bending his knees, placing his hands on them for support.

When he felt he could move once again, Adam stood tall and tried to find some way to look himself over. Before long, an image appeared in his mind, supplied by the virus strain within him. He had no idea what he would be seeing, but when he did, he had been in for a startling surprise.

"I believe that woman would be all like 'oh hell' right now…"

He couldn't help but make that comparison as he looked himself over. He was covered in what looked like some form of Armor, one that concealed him from head to toe. The Helmet had a single Green Visor going from one eye to the other, with the faceplate angled diagonally downwards to give the helmet a V shaped front. Two pieces of dark green Armour were on the sides of the helmet and were angled backwards, shaped like the wings of a plane. The rest of the Armour consisted of black plating to resemble the human face but without any facial features exposed.

There was a black fleshy suit that covered him from head to toe, with the torso covered by a black Armoured chest piece with a glowing green 'core' at the center. It had a black biohazard symbol in the center. The shoulder Armour was dark green in color, with black small spikes jutting out of them, before the suit replaced the green down the arms. Black Armour plating covered everything on the arms, with dark green pulsating fractions that outline the basic human body structure. The hands and forearms had black gauntlets over them that were slightly larger than his own arms. The stomach was only covered by the suit, there was no Armour there, but there were pulsating dark green lines. Black Armour with dark green pulsating fractions outlining the basic human structure covered the legs as well, ending in larger-than-normal yet still streamlined metallic boots.

In short, Adam looked like a demonic knight that glowed dark green. A sinister shade of green, too.

'… Whoa,' he thought, awe and amazement at the new power he had gained. 'This Armour… it looks weird, but I like it. It feels like a second skin to me. Could this be an advanced form of shapeshifting?' he wondered, before the sounds of battle called his attention over to Sophie.

He looked to her, and saw how she jumped onto the Scorpios' lower body and repeatedly smashed its legs with her shield, forcing it to the ground before repeatedly bashing it without any mercy or tact, a savage grin on her features as her opponent finally went down. '… I almost feel sorry for those that piss her off.'

Sophie grinned as she felt her body swell with Biomass, Tendrils emerging from her as she consumed her newest victim. She had consumed infected before, but mostly random Walkers and the like. But this thing, this Scorpios was much more… delectable, filled with nutritious Biomass than anything they could ever hope to be. Her body convulsed, various sounds mitting from her body as she stumbled about, feeling something changing within her.

The changes soon applied themselves and were fully revealed in the next few seconds. Her arms, they remained covered in Tendrils, but instead of shields like the babies she had been using to bash that thing's head in, she instead had some… pretty unique looking Claws.

Unlike Adam or Mercer's claws, her claws only consisted of mutated flesh to the first two joints, and then they morphed into 7-inch-long Crab Claws. She glanced to the side, noticing a piece of rubble beside her and got an idea. Her smirk proved this, as she raised a Claw and slashed through the rubble, clean through. The rubble was split in half, albeit messily, both pieces crumbling to the ground. Though they didn't look it, it appeared those Claws were capable of both blunt and sharp attacks.

Raising her new toys to her face to examine them, Sophie's grin could have split her face in two if it were possible. "Nice…" she then noticed something hanging overhead, and when she looked at what it was, she saw it was a tip, a metallic tip of some sort. Looking behind her, she noticed that, protruding from the base of her spine, was a single, long, organic black tail with tints of dark blue on it, its appearance being like an extension of the human spinal column. Its tip, unlike the rest of it, was completely metallic, dark blue, and shaped like an elongated spear tip.

She felt the name 'Speartail' come to mind when looking at that beast.

Mentally, she did a roll call: she now had Claws, Shields, Bio Bullets, and her very own Speartail.

… call her a badass, someone.

Looking over, she saw an Armoured humanoid approaching her calmly as can be. She hissed and levelled her Speartail at it, but then the being held his hands above his head in a placating manner. "Hey, its me, you idiot. KRONOS." It said, the Armour seemingly destabilizing into liquified Biomass that receded inwards, revealing Adam's deadpanning face to her.

After an awkward, somewhat tense silence, Sophie's final response was to wave her right claw dismissively, her mutations reverting or in her Speartail's case, receding into her spinal base. "… I knew that."

He only deadpanned harder.

Shaking his head, Adam looked around, and finally decided on a next course of action. "Come on, lets get outta this shit hole, its hardly an ideal place for discussion, if you know what I mean." He suggested to her, to which Sophie nodded in agreement as the two left for the opposite room, jumped out the entrance, and escaped into the desolate streets.

Chapter end!

Now, As you've seen, Sophie and Adam are going through some evolutionary changes. For Sophie, I plan on giving her an arsenal she can call her own, not just the standard arsenal that the previous two games had. I chose this because I watched a video on Youtube about Prototype, and it highlighted that there is so much more potential to the Blacklight Virus's mutant weapons than what was showed. Now, I know that the Developers didn't have as much time as they'd have liked for the sequel, so I'm going to take it upon myself to see if I can improve the Second Game in my own way.

Also, that infected, it may be defeated, but keep reading cause in future chapters cause there'll be a good reason why that thing came into being. I'll admit, it literally sprang out of nowhere in the last chapter, so hopefully those who read this will get answers to their questions about where it came from.
