Spear met cleaver as Sean battled against the large goblin. Struggling under it strength, Sean leaped backwards, the spear crashing into the ground, shaking the cave as Asuna and Lisara charged forward.
Dashing around the trapped spear, Asuna leaped into the air, stabbing her rapier into the goblin kings shoulder, the red data wound appearing as its health was dropped slightly. Behind her, Lisara ran up the impaled spear, lunging forward as she swung her blade towards the king's face.
As the red edge of the blade sliced through its face, Sean made himself known as he leaped over the spear, his large cleaver coming down on the mini boss's head. before the sword could make contact, the goblin roar, throwing all three players away as it ripped its spear form the ground, a snarl erupting form it as it charged towards the recovering teens.
Sean took notice of the energy gathering at the back end of the spear, his eyes widened as he turned towards the tow girls. "Move!" he yelled the girls not needing to be told twice as he a leaped as far back as they could.
With no time to run, Sean watched as the goblin flipped his spear over his shoulder, the back end coming down to stab him in the chest as he reacted. Rolling to the side, Sean just avoided the deadly spear head, only for the large explosion of energy to send him cheering towards the wall, his buster blade clatter on the other side of the chamber.
"Sean!" Asuna yelled, attempting to make her way towards him. Only for the goblin king to rip his blade out of the ground, turning towards the two girls as both ends of the staff glowed with energy. Lisara was already moving as the goblin charged forward, grabbing Asuna's hand as she dragged the girl away, and the tip of the staff impaling the wall where they just stood.
A second later the wall exploded, chunks of the stone flaying across the cave floor as Asuna and Lisara stared at the destruction with wide eyes. "We don't have time to help Sean right now, we need to keep ourselves safe for now" Lisara said, snapping the auburn haired girl out of her shock.
Asuna only nodded as she gripped her rapier tighter, the goblin ripping its staff out of the destroyed wall as it turned to face them again. All three of them charged forward, the goblins heavy footsteps shaking the ground as it moved.
Seeing the spear heading towards her, Lisara ducked under a slid, her right heal digging into the stone floor as she leant backwards, the spear head passing over head as she flicked her foot out, her boot digging into the ground as she shot up, her blade already swinging as a long data wound was cut into the goblins armoured chest.
Asuna took her chest to attack as the goblin tried to recover from the blow, leaping into the air as her blade glowed with green energy. In a flash four data holes were stabbed into the beast shoulder, each ripping away at its health bar before the girl landed on the ground, Lisara joined her as the goblin stumbled back in pain.
With a roar it leaped into the air, pulling its spear above its head as the end exploded with energy. Both girls dove in opposite direction, watching as the deadly attack exploded against the ground, huge spider like crack formed across the stone as the whole chamber shook form the shockwave of the attack alone.
Behind her, Asuna heard a groan as she glanced to see Sean pushing himself to his feet, his hooded head shaking as he looked up. Seeing Asuna's worried expression, Sean got his head together as he glanced around for his sword.
"What happened?" he asked quickly as Asuna glanced to see the goblin ripping its blade out of the ground, turning towards them as she panic slightly. "No time, we have to move" she yelled, Sean blinking in surprise before he noticed the large goblin running towards them.
Without thinking the berserker turned towards the wall behind him, Asuna diving out of the way as Sean leaped up the wall. As the goblin stabbed its staff forward, Sean kicked off the wall, flipping over the goblin head.
Twisting in the air, Sean pulled his right fist back, flaming energy forming around his limb as he struck the goblin in the back of its head, smashing the goblins face into the wall in front of it as he landed on the ground.
In the cells, Glenn wondered what was making such a loud noise outside, and half wondering where that Blake girl had went. With the door wide open and no one to stop him leaving, Glenn gave a frustrated yell as he was still trapped against the wall.
"That girl did this on purpose" he yelled in annoyance as he tried to move his arms, only for the chains to keep him trapped. "I wonder how she would like to be chained to a wall" he mumbled before a blush crept across his face at what he had just said.
"Even when he's not in my head, Thanatos as corrupted me" Glenn muttered in despair at the thought of acting like the other half of his soul. His depressing thoughts where cut short as a familiar roar echoed from the door, a black blur flying through the open cell.
Floating in front of him was Red, the metal dragon staring at him in what looked like relief as Glenn stared at her in surprise. "Red!" he yelled happily as the dragon landed on his shoulder, nuzzling his cheek as Glenn smiled at the dragon.
"How did you get here" he asked as Red looked at him oddly. "Oh yeah, can't talk" he mumbled sheepishly as Red shook her head in amusement at her partner. "Come on, can you get me out of these?" he asked as Red gave him a deep panned stare.
"Just do it" he sighed as the dragon lit loose a small stream of red fire towards the cuffs on his wrists.
Back outside the cells, Sean dove the life, the shockwave of the beasts staff crashing into the ground sending him a few more feet in the air as he flipped, his right hand grabbing the now uneven ground, his feet hitting the ground as he slid to a stop.
On opposite sides of the goblin king, Asuna and Lisara stared at it, panting from the effort of just fighting the creature, both of their health having gone to yellow with their last of their potions used up.
Nodding to the berserker, both girls lunged forward, slicing through the goblins thighs before it could retrieve its staff. Seeing his chance, Sean charged forward, his right fist encased in flaming energy as he leaped into the air above the mini boss.
His fist crashed into its armour cheek, making it stumble backwards as Sean's left hand was thrown forwards, grabbing the creature's helmet as he flipped himself over the beast. The force behind his flip threw the beast off balance, the goblin king crashing into the ground as Sean rolled in his landing, his health still red as he panted for breath.
With the beast down, Sean motioned for Lisara and Asuna to attack as he turned his attention to his discarded blade. Grabbing the red laced handle, Sean turned his attention back towards the fight, the beast smashing its armoured fist into the ground, the shockwave throwing the surprised Lisara into the air.
Before she could react, the beast stomped to its feet, his hand smacking her across the chamber before it sun, its foot coming up and stomping towards Asuna. The auburn haired girl sliding backwards from the force of the stomp.
With no one attacking it, the goblin king reached out, grabbing its staff again as the deadly weapon lit up with golden energy. Ripping the bladed weapon free, the goblin reared it over its head, Sean bracing himself as it smashed it into the ground, the termer shaking the chamber as more of the roof started to fall on them.
Sean shook his head, clearing his vision as he looked up to see the goblin king turning towards the downed Lisara, the red head crawling backed as she tried to get away from the aggressive creature. As it lunged forward, Sean prepared himself to use whatever berserker mode he could, only to pause as something caught his attention.
Lisara screamed as the creature's staff came down on her, closing her eyes as she waited for it to end. Only for the clang of something intercepting the staff to echo throughout the chamber. "Miss me" a hollow voice asked in amusement as the red head looked up, her heart skipping a beat as she saw his golden locks behind the horrific mask he now adored.
No one could speak as the demon vanished, appearing behind the goblin king, his right foot crashing into its cheek as it was thrown away form Lisara. Landing on the ground, Glenn crouched beside Lisara, the red head watching as the grey mask disappeared from his face, Red forming on his shoulder as his tainted blue eyes looked down at her.
"You okay?" he asked as Lisara, despite the situation, grabbed his ripped jacket and kissed him heatedly. Before she could continue, the grunt of the goblin king brought her back as she parted form her blonde.
"I am now that you're okay" she whispered in reply as Glenn shook his blush away. You would think after eighteen different girls did that to him he would get used to it...well you're not Glenn. "I think we should take care of this...has anyone seen my sword?" Glenn asked as he stood up, helping Lisara to her feet as the red head blinked in surprise.
Quickly opening her inventory, Lisara made the white blade appear in her hands. "We knew you would need it" Lisara said, Glenn grasping the blade as he gave the girl a bright smile. "Thanks" he mumbled, turning back towards the goblin king as it glared down at him, the first health bar vanishing form the last hit as the second one became active.
"Let's kick this up" Glenn said with a grin, pulling his blade back, his feet tensing as his short jacket blew in the wind behind him. Lisara followed his movements, getting ready as the goblin roared a challenge towards the two.
Glenn vanished in a burst of speed, the goblin king stumbling at the loss of its target. Before it could react, Glenn appeared to its left, his blade slicing through its knee as it was forced to kneel. Seeing her chance, Lisara attacked the fallen goblin, the red edge of her blade cutting through its chest as more of his health bar was wiped away.
With a roar of fury, the goblin king slammed its staff into the ground, intending to send both players into the wall away from it. Only for Lisara to fly back as Glenn leaped into the air, vanishing in mid leap as he avoided the shockwave.
Appearing above the creature, Glenn pulled his blade over head, the blade lighting up with white energy as he readied his attack. The goblin turned its attention towards him, positioning its spear for the blonde to be impaled on it as he fell.
Its plan was stopped as a stream of red fire crashed into its face, the goblin king leaning to the side, its spear falling from its grasp as it was forced to bring its hand up to stop the fire attacking it. As it tried to defend itself, Glenn stuck, his blade coming down on the goblin with an earth shattering amount of force.
Kicking off the wounded goblins shoulder, Glenn slid to a stop beside Sean and Asuna, the latter helping Lisara to her feet as the berserker glanced to his friend. "I see your okay, what happened?" Sean asked as Glenn paused in thought, the memories of what Blake did making him blush lightly before shaking his head.
"Nothing important" Glenn replied quietly, the other three giving him strange looks before they turned to see the goblin king looming over them. "Can we beat this thing?" Glenn asked, noticing everyone's health bars were in red,, Sean's the lowest of all of them.
"It's in yellow for now; Mini bosses don't have special abilities so if keep the pressure on we can beat it" Sean replied as he rested his huge blade on his shoulder his tattered cloak bellowing behind him. "Glenn, take it from behind, Asuna Lisara, I want you attacking form the left side, I'll keep its attention" Sean ordered as the goblin pulled it spear back, ready t lung forward as the deadly weapon lit up with energy again.
With a roar everyone moved, the goblin lunging towards them as Sean lifted his blade up, they large silver cleaver igniting with red and orange flame like energy as the berserker swung to meet the staff.
Glenn vanished form beside them, appearing across the room, out of the goblins way as he pulled his Katana back, the white blade gleaming viciously as the demon dug his feet into the ground to get ready.
Lisara and Asuna dove out of the way, bringing themselves to a stop of the left side of the beast, their own attacks charging as they watched the two weapons meet.
A harsh shockwave erupted when the two weapons clashed, Sean's buster blade creating numerous sparks flew as the two battled against each other. Sliding back a few feet, Sean grit his teeth under his hood, the feeling of his berserker mode activating in a passive state to give him an edge as he struggled to hold the bladed spear at bay.
The pressure was almost immediately lifted as the goblin king roar in pain, two data wound forming on its side as Asuna and Lisara dashed around it, Lisara's blade cutting across its back as Asuna ripped her rapier from the beast side.
As the goblin turned to its attacks, Glenn was ready, energy forming around his Katana, flickers of white energy on his greaves as he leant forward slightly. His red eye glowed slight and the next second he was gone, the ground cracking behind him as he burst into motion.
The goblin king swung its staff towards Asuna, the staff inches away from her as Glenn appeared, his blade stabbing forward, going straight through the mobs arm. Without pause, Glenn twisted in the air, his blade jerking upwards as the goblin king roared in pain.
A second later the stump of what was left of its arm hit the ground, Glenn vanishing form his place at its side, appearing behind it as his blade made another cut into its armoured flesh. Sean saw his chance as the mini boss's health bar hit red, lunging forward as he pulled his blade back.
Glenn hit the ground, vanishing as the goblin turned, stabbing its spear into the ground where he just was. He appeared level with the creatures head, his blade glowing in fury as he swung towards its exposed neck.
Behind it, Sean leaped into the air, his blade swinging towards the back of its neck. The clang of two blade crashing against each other echoed through the chamber, the goblin kings body slumping forward as the tow boy landed, their blade still connected as the head of the beast fell, shatter as it hit the ground.
"That was fun" Glenn offered as he pulled his blade back, panting form the use of his last skill. Sean could only shake his head, the health bar and current status making it hard for him to do much else. "Anyone just want to head home now?" Lisara asked as she and Asuna walked up to them, the auburn haired girl supporting her friend as the red head currently had less health than her.
"We still have an item to find" Asuna spoke, only to pause as a beep echoed from Glenn's screen. Blinking in surprise, Glenn opened the options and stared at the awarding options screen. "The smith's volte hammer?" he spoke in confusion.
"You had to defeat that thing for this quest?" Sean deep panned as he stood up, using his buster blade to lean on as he stared at the blonde in disbelief. "Asuna, I'm never going on a quest that doesn't say its level ranking with you, ever" Sean said as Asuna gave a sheepish sorry in reply.
"Let's just go, me and Asuna only have about a day left before we have to go back to the front lines" Lisara spoke as the other nodded. The red head pulled out a teleporter crystal from her inventory, Asuna doing the same as Glenn and Sean shared a look.
"Aren't you going to use teleporting crystals?" Asuna asked as Sean rubbed the back of his head. "We kind of had a bad experience with those crystals and I don't feel comfortable using them anymore" Sean said sheepishly as Asuna sighed slightly.
"The lets head home" Lisara sighed as she put her crystal away, and leant on Glenn for support. "Why are you leaning on me?" he asked as the red head glared at him. "Shut up" he said as Glenn could only sigh.
Months passed since the 30th floor had opened, current the front lines were working through floor 38, but most had returned to the safer floors for this month. Currently we find our dup in their guild hall, the red clad guild having joined them in sharing the guild hall, going under the new name of Demon hearts.
Right now the duo were waiting, instead of their normal outfit, Glenn was dressed in a form fitting ice blue shirt, Red sitting on his shoulder with a light blue cloak tied around her neck. He wasn't wearing armour as he leant against the bar of the guild hall.
Beside him, Sean was standing in a black shirt and jeans, his hood and cloak away for today as they were going out to party. "I wonder how long it's going to take them" Glenn mumbled as Sean gave him an amused smile.
"Oh relax, its Christmas! Klein and the guys bought out the bar on the 26th floor for this, let's let the girls have as much time as they need" Sean said as he pated the boy on the back. Glenn could only shake his head as he glanced towards the window, almost thinking he saw someone passing it.
Rubbing his head Glenn let a sigh escape him as he remembered what was happening in the last few months. Ever few days he would catch the glimpse of someone following him, and to be honest, Glenn had tried to track them one, only to be left trapped against a wall with a note saying nice try.
It wasn't the worst thing, Blake had visited him a few times, always being the aggressive one, and before he could get any answers out of her, she would disappear again. Shaking his head, Glenn wanted to forget the beautiful cat like girl, damn it Thanatos!
The sound of the doors opening gathered his and Sean's attention as they turned, Sean giving the new comers a warm smile as Glenn's jaw hit the floor at what he saw. "I think you broke him" Asuna giggled as the slightly blushing Lisara tried to hide her burning face.
"Baka, well, what do you think?" she asked, snapping Glenn out of his pause. "Yo-you look great" he stuttered, trying not to stare at her figure in the tight black dress. Lisara's blush only deepened as she thanked him.
"Geez, you two look like school kids going on their first date" Sean pointed out as Asuna whacked him on the shoulder. "Let's go already, the others are waiting" he said, presenting his arm for Asuna to take a hold of.
Asuna only smiled as she excepted the arm, allowing Sean to pull her out of the guild hall. "If those two don't start dating soon, something is wrong" Glenn mumbled as Lisara agreed with him. "Shall we join them?" he asked, holding his hand out for Lisara.
The red head smiled as she hugged his arm between her breasts, sticking close to his side as they walked out of the guild hall.
Arriving at the 26th floor, Glenn and Lisara spotted the bar instantly, Klein and the others already into the drink and food. "Come on" Lisara said, pulling Glenn along as the demon allowed himself to be pulled by the excited female.
"They seem excited" Asuna spoke up as Sean and her calmly walked towards the bar. "Yep, I don't think Lisara has ever went to a party before from how she acts" Sean added as he watched the red head pulling Glenn along.
"They do make a cute couple don't they" Asuna mused as Sean shook his head. "I guess they do" he mumbled, a small frown crossing his face as he thought of what would happen when they got out of this damn game.
"What's wrong?" Asuna asked, noticing his frown. Sean shook his head, about to wave off her concern when something caught his attention. "Can you give me the information Argo" a familiar voice spoke quickly as Sean snapped his head towards the sound.
Standing beside a hooded figure was none other than the black swordsmen himself. Kirito looked rather annoyed as the hooded figure laughed at him. "Fine, fine, don't get all cranky" Argo replied as Sean raised an eyebrow, why was Argo in this village of all places.
Wasn't she wanted for information and thievery?
"The revival stone only appears in Christmas eve, the boss is located on the 35th floor, the forest of wondering if I'm correct, which I always am" Argo said as Kirito nodded. "What do I need to do for this information?" Kirito asked in return as he pushed away from the bench he was leaning on.
"Tell the white demon I need a favour form him and we are good" Argo said before walking away, Leaving Kirito to watch her leave in silence.
Seeing enough, Sean made his way over, Asuna having wanted to keep Lisara in check, and hope that Glenn didn't beat someone skull in for staring at the red head. You wouldn't think someone like him could be violently possessive.
"Seems like you have a nice quest ahead of you Kirito" Sean spoke as he stopped a few feet behind the swordsmen. "You okay?" he asked as Kirito didn't say anything. "yeah" Kirito sighed as he took a few steps away from Sean.
The berserker only watched him go a concerned look crossing his face as he glanced back towards the party. "I guess not everyone Christmas here is a happy one" he mumbled, turning his gave towards the moon filled night, a flick of snow fall falling past his face as he gaze a solemn smile towards the night sky.
"I hope you guys are doing fine without us" he mumbled as he glanced to see Glenn picking Lisara up, both laughing as they spun around. Klein was laugh9ing with his friends as Asuna scolded one of them for spilling a drink over someone else.
"We'll see you all again, I guarantee that" he whispered, his left hand clenching tightly as he remember the red gauntlet that once clad the limb.
