Kagome was getting ready to head out the door for work herself when her cell phone pinged alerting her to a text-message. She looked at her phone curiously finding it was from Sesshomaru and she couldn't help but to smile. As she read it. :I hate to ask you but Rin forgot her backpack in the back seat of the car this morning do you mind swinging by my office and taking it to her on your way to work if it is too much of an inconvenience I understand.:
Kagome shot him a quick response as she locked her door. :No it's not a big deal I will see you in 15min.:
:Thanks Kags, I owe you one. I will tell the receptionist to send you up to my office. And I can't wait to see you.: Kagome just laughed at his last message as she started her car and put it into drive and headed in the direction of Taro Corp. With the unusually easy flow of traffic Kagome was able to make it to Sesshomaru's office in ten minutes instead of the fifteen that she anticipated from her house. Kagome found a parking spot in front of the parking lot and headed in through the double doors to the receptionist's desk where she was greeted by a kindly looking older lady, "Hello, may I help you?"
"Yes I'm Kagome Higurashi and I'm here to see Mr. Taro."
"Sesshomaru or Toga?"
Kagome was a little taken aback she thought that surely by now Toga had retired. "Um... Sesshomaru."
The lady looked over her glasses at the list of names on the list of people allowed into the building beyond the reception hall. "Oh yes, Miss Higurashi, I see now Mr. Sesshomaru is expecting you go through those double doors to the first elevator on your left and to the top his office is the first door on your right."
"Thank you Miss..." Kagome tried to read the name plate on her desk but failed miserably.
"It's Mrs. Kento but you can call me Kirara everyone in the office does. And I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of each other." The older woman teased kindly.
"Yes I suspect we will," Kagome laughed with her, "Thank you again Kirara." Kagome said before she walled down the hall to the elevators and jumped on the one she was directed to which lead directly to the executive offices.
Kagome stopped just outside Sesshomaru's office and knocked gently waiting for him to reply. "Come in." Sesshomaru said from behind his desk and he didn't look up until Kagome was standing right in front of him. When he looked up the look of frustration disappeared as he stood from behind his desk and came around to pull her into his embrace and place a passionate kiss upon her lips. Kagome returned his embrace wrapping her arms around his neck as she moaned low in her throat feeling his arms tighten around her. Eventually both needing air Sesshomaru broke the kiss as he pressed his forehead to hers and whispered, "Hello."
Kagome smiled at him in response as she said, "Well, hello there yourself."
Sesshomaru hugged her to him tightly and inhaled her scent as he whispered into her skin, "I wish I could keep you here with me."
Kagome remembering the reason she was in his office pushed him away gently and looked him in the eye, "As tempting as that is we both have to work and I have to get Rin's back pack to her. Remember the reason you asked me to come?"
Sesshomaru sighed letting her go reluctantly as he nodded and went to the chair where he'd sat Rin's back pack when he'd realized she had forget it in the back seat of his car that morning. "Thank you again for coming to get this for her. She hasn't called me yet to get it but I know she's going to need it at some point and her teacher will not be too happy about having to wait for me to find someone to bring it to her."
Kagome came to retrieve the girl's back pack from her father and smiled understandingly, "It's ok as long as this doesn't become a habit." She gave him a mocking stern look. He just looked at Kagome for a second with a puzzled look on his face before giving her a smile which Kagome returned, "Well, I should get going to get this to Rin before I'm late for work. I know Kaede will understand since I have never been late before but I don't like to leave her short-handed for any amount of time." Sesshomaru just nodded handing the girl's bag over to the young woman and before he knew it Kagome was on her tip toes placing a soft kiss to his lips and before he could respond it was over, "Call me tonight?"
"Yes." Was all he could say in a voice that was little more than a whisper.
Kagome headed for the door with a little more of a pep in her step. Waving good-bye to the man behind her, "Ok then I will talk to you tonight," On her way to the elevators she passed by Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's father.
"Why hello Kagome my dear to what do we owe the the pleasure this morning?" He quickly embraced the young woman.
"Hello Toga," she returned his embrace, "I just stopped by to retrieve Rin's back pack on my way into work this morning it seems she forgot it in the back of her father's car."
Toga just smiled at the thought of his granddaughter forgetting her bag again. "Yes well she tends to do that occasionally. Are you and Souta still joining us for dinner on Sunday evening?"
"Yes, we wouldn't miss it." She smiled at him.
"Good then we will see you then." Toga said as he sent Kagome on her way.
"See you Sunday, Toga." She shot Sesshomaru one more smile as the elevator doors closed in front of her and she pressed the button that would send her down to the lobby.
Kagome quickly exited the building, jumped into her car and headed in the direction of Rin's school which was almost directly right next to the daycare facility where she worked. As Kagome drove to Rin's school she could see that it was just in actuality two buildings away from the one in which she worked so she parked in the parking lot of her building, grabbed Rin's bag as she got out of the driver's side door, and locked the vehicle before heading down the street to the local elementary school. As Kagome walked into the administration office a kindly looking lady looked up and smiled at Kagome, "Hello Miss may I help you?"
"Yes, I'm here to drop off Rin Taro's back pack apparently she left it in her father's car this morning."
"Oh yes, may I inquire as to who you are?"
"Yes, I'm Kagome Higurashi, I work at the daycare down the street and I am a family friend her father asked me if I could drop it off to her on my way into work this morning."
The lady behind the desk smiled knowingly as she just nodded and picked up the phone to dial an extension. She spoke with someone whom she assumed was Rin's teacher before she hung up and looked back to Kagome, "She should be here momentarily, apparently she was already coming down here to call her father about her back pack. If you'd like to have a seat it won't be but a second."
Kagome just smiled and sat down in one of the chairs lining the wall on either side of the door to wait for the girl. When Rin came through the door she approached the receptionist, "Mrs. Kanthos, I'm afraid I need to call my father to bring me my book bag I accidentally left it in the back seat of the car again this morning." The girl looked at her rather embarrassed.
"That's quite alright Rin, dear, it seems your father sent someone to drop your book bag off to you already." She motioned to Kagome as she stood up from the chair in which she was sitting and Rin turned around.
"Kagome," Rin exclaimed as she ran to her and threw her arms around her waist, "thank you so much for bringing me my book bag. I almost forgot that I had my math book in it."
Kagome returned the girl's gentle embrace, "Well that's the second nicest greeting I got this morning." Rin looked at her confused for a second, "Well of course the nicest was waking up to have breakfast with you and your father." Kagome winked at her.
"But Kagome you made breakfast." Rin teased.
"Ah but you set the table," Kagome said handing the girl her back pack, "now get back to class I don't want you to miss too much. And I will see you on Sunday." Kagome and Rin walked out of the office together and went their separate ways Rin returning to her class room and Kagome leaving the building and heading to the day care where she worked.
Little did either one of them know someone was watching from a window as Kagome left the property. Kagura Nagasaki was Rin's teacher and had, had her eye on Sesshomaru since they were sophomores in high school. She would do whatever it took to get what she wanted and with Kagome back in the picture she knew she just may have to use her own daughter as a pawn in her plan to get the man she wanted...
I know it's a little short and a cliffy. However I promise I already have ideas for the next chapter and this just seemed like the perfect place to stop for now please r/r.
