Chapter 10: Date
"Regina come on! It's freezing cold, let's just go inside" Emma shouted at the brunette girl, who was currently standing in the middle of an almost snow storm, smiling.
"But look at how pretty this white is Emma!" Regina answered. "Come out here and live a little"
"I'm pretty sure no one can live if their butt is frozen, let's just go inside"
"Emma Swan, adventurous blonde teenager with an athletic body, I didn't know you were such a cry baby!" Regina said.
"I'm not a cry baby, I just want to go inside Granny's and drink hot chocolate, and not freeze to death" Emma complained and rubbed her arms together, exhaling. A little cloud of fog formed from her warm breath and at it's sight she groaned displeased.
"Oh my god stop it with the faces! It's not that bad. Here, have my jacket" Regina told her, sliding off her big jacket and putting it on Emma's shoulders.
"Are you crazy!? It's snowing and you only have a small sweater?"
Regina laughed. "It seems I won't be able to convince you otherwise. We can go inside, but first..." she leaned forward and pressed her warm lips to Emma's. The blonde's lips were incredibly cold, Emma was actually cold. Regina opened her mouth a little to encourage Emma to follow the kiss. The girl got the hint and started moving her mouth to a slow rythm, following Regina's and from time to time letting her tongue stroke the brunette's lips. Regina cut the kiss with an audible smack, smiling just a few centimeter's from Emma's face and opening her eyes.
"Better?" she asked.
Emma smiled back at her, blushed palely. "Much better. But still, can we go in?"
"You're impossible" Regina said but gave in to her... what was Emma of her? She gave in to Emma's wishes.
They went inside the small diner and sat on an empty table, leaving their coats, sweaters and jackets aside. It was Ruby Oliver's (Emma's friend) shift as a waitress in the diner and out of the four girls that were currently on shift she was the one that had to attend the girls.
The leggy brunette didn't see them, she simply hid her face behind her little notebook and stood in front of their table. "Can I take your order please?" she said as she would to any other customer.
"Same as always, please" Emma said, teasing her.
Ruby recognised the voice immediately and turned to face the blonde but mistook sides and ended up looking at Regina. "Oh, Regina" she said almost spitting her name.
Emma glared at her. "Drop it Ruby. Don't ever talk to Regina like that when I'm around, or ever" she told her angry.
"It's okay Emma. There's always someone that doesn't like you in life and you have to deal with it. It's a pity that for me it's your close friends, maybe someday it'll change. I'll take whatever Emma asked for, if you don't mind Ruby, thank you"
Ruby looked down at her and turned to Emma. "Are you coming to my party tomorrow?"
"No, I would but I'd like to spend my Christmas with someone that doesn't judge my friends out of nowhere. But thank you, I hope you have fun" Emma said, holding strong eye contact with the young waitress.
"Ugh" Ruby rolled her eyes and left, shouting the order at another waitress.
"Emma that really wasn't necesary" Regina said as soon as Ruby was busy with another table.
"No, it was. I'm so sick of them doing that! It's so annoying, imagine what you would think if Rose and Graham treated me like that! They're being such assholes. The most tolerant is MM and still her attitude isn't the best" Emma said. "Worst thing is that when I first fancied you without talking to you they were super supportive and crap but as soon as I started hanging out with you you were turned into some kind of villain. God they're so childish"
"It's all right Emma, it'll pass I know that for sure"
"Okay" Emma sighed. "What are you doing tomorrow?"
Regina shrugged. "I don't know. My mother is going to host some fancy dinner with the Maine mayors and family, but all honesty? I don't want to be there. Rose and Graham have pretty set family traditions but I guess I could maybe join either of them, I'm like the sister. And talking about sisters I doubt my sister will be in town"
"Wait what? You have a sister?" Emma asked her.
"Yup, sister from a different mister, as they say. But my mother has never really taken much notice of her, she's way older than me. My
mother was super young when she had her and decided to randomly not raise her. For obvious reasons she hates my mother but she's nice to me and we sometimes hang, she lives in Boston" Regina answered.
"Woah, what news, I didn't know that!"
"No one does, her name is Zelena, maybe someday you can meet her, she's pretty nice... and pretty"
"Probably not prettier than you" Emma said.
Regina blushed and smiled with her head down to hide her red cheeks. The waitress got there just in time, this chick had no rude comments or unpleasant faces to make, she simply smiled and gave them both a mug with hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. Regina picked whipped cream up with her index finger and brought it to her lips to suck it off, she closed her eyes at the sweet taste and hummed happily. Emma just watched, trying to keep her mouth closed. She cleared her throat.
"So... do you want to spend it with me?" she asked, shaking the image of Regina sucking her finger off her mind.
"What?"
"I mean tomorrow night. No Graham or Rose, no sister and you don't want to be at the mansion. So, do you want to spend it with me?" Emma asked again.
"What about Ruby?"
"Fuck her. It's Christmas, you should have a nice night and I meant what I said to her. She can come back to me when she's willing to act like a human being"
"Okay, yes. I'd love to spend Christmas with you" Regina said.
"Okay, good" Emma replied.
"Hey Emma?" Regina asked.
"Yeah?"
"Is this a date, like today, us, this...?"
"Do you want it to be?"
"It would be nice, yes"
"Then it is"
