Chapter 10
Later that evening, Harry, Elsa, Hermione, Tonks, and Sirius entered one empty classroom. Harry asked Ron to come as well, but his friend did not want to have another meeting that was basically a class, so Ron decided to play with his brothers and Anna.
"Elsa, do you think it is wise? I understand that Professor Umbridge would not teach us anything useful this year, but forming a class like this is basically point a middle finger not only to her, but also the Ministry," spoke Hermione cautiously.
"Relax Hermione, I think Queen Elsa knows what she is doing," spoke Sirius.
"Thank you Sirius. Yes, I know that people here need to learn actual defensive magic, and know how to use it. I did tell Umbridge that even if people sign up for my class, they would still have to attend her baby lectures. And if the Ministry decides to bother me, I would just tell them that Arendale needs more competent Wizards and Witches, and they do need to know how to use spells," spoke Elsa
"And don't worry Hermione, if some idiot decides to attack Queen Elsa here, they would need to go through me first. I am her bodyguard after all," grinned Tonks as her hair color changed from pink to purple.
"Elsa, how would we recruit others?" asked Harry
"We should go and talk to each house. Harry, Hermione, since you are in Gryffindor, you should talk to your fellow housemates. I am sure there are many people who would want to practice magic, even if they don't believe Harry's claims right now. Tonks, since you were a Hufflepuff, you could visit your former house. Besides, I hear that the Puffs are extremely loyal. I would talk to people in Ravenclaw," spoke Elsa
"So no Slytherin? Yes," spoke Harry
"Harry, we should talk to them as well. I guess as a neutral party to Hogwarts, I should talk to them as well. We want to extend the invitation to everyone, regardless their house affiliation. Besides, it would be nice to have members of all houses befriend others," spoke Elsa
"I made this sign up sheet, where people who express interest would join us," spoke Hermione as she gave the parchment to Elsa.
"Um, Hermione? Is this list jinxed?" inquired Tonks
"Yes. I wanted to make precautions so that people who betray us would show to everyone," began Hermione.
"No, this is too cruel. I will write the list myself, and we wont have any curses on it," spoke Elsa. Hermione nodded in understanding.
Next day the group approached many people, asking whether they would be interested in joining the new Defense class. Many Gryffindors agreed, as did many Hufflepuffs and quite a few Ravenclaws. Elsa was pleasantly surprised when three Slytherins expressed desire to join.
"Queen Elsa? My name is Daphne Greengrass. I know that our current Professor is incompetent. Contrary to what many people say, not all Slytherins support You-Know-Who and his ideas. I would be glad to learn more," spoke Daphne
"I am Tracey Davis. Count me in," spoke another girl
Elsa could see that some Slytherins, especially the younger ones looked at Elsa, who stood at the Slytherin table, but did not ask to join her class, since they were somewhat afraid of Draco and his gang. Elsa noticed this. Unfortunately she knew that she could not do much at this point.
Late in the evening, when Harry was going to his tower, Elsa approached her cousin. "Harry, I need to speak with you in private," spoke Elsa
Harry nodded and the two went to one secluded room. "Harry, yesterday when you argued with that Umbridge woman, I noticed you created fire. Without a wand," spoke Elsa as Harry looked at her in shock.
"I? I did what?" asked Harry
"You can control fire," spoke Elsa, "Don't worry, I can teach you how to create and properly channel it. I know that I might not be the best Witch in spell work, but I can control snow and ice," smiled Elsa as she relaxed and sent some ice from her hand. She moved her arms, and created a sphere.
"Sit. I would like you to observe," spoke Elsa as Harry sat on a chair and looked at Elsa. The Snow Queen moved her arms, and created a few chairs, tables. She then waved her hands and snow sculpture of a swan appeared in the room.
"Harry, I struggled almost all my life to control my power. My parents were good people, but they fundamentally did not understand how my powers worked. They told me that I should conceal, and don't feel. This backfired when I froze Arendale. But Anna showed me that fear is not he solution. It never is. Love, love is the answer. You need to embrace your power, not be afraid of it. Use your positive emotions to create and use fire," spoke Elsa
"Like a Patronus!" exclaimed Harry
"Wait what? Oh yes, I remember reading about a spell that can protect a person from Dementors. I guess both elemental magic and Patronus charm use similar emotions," spoke Elsa
"So do I need to think of happy memories when using fire?" asked Harry
Elsa paused. "Not really. You need to think positive thoughts about your life in general, although happy memories would work," spoke Elsa
Harry looked at his arms and then concentrated. While he did not know much about using the emotion of love as a fuel for his elemental power, he understood how Patronus charm worked, and he decided to use that knowledge. Harry concentrated and thought about the day when Elsa found and rescued him.
Fire appeared above his hand. "Congratulations Harry, I knew you could do it," smiled Elsa.
Harry smiled. He admired the fire that he created but then accidentally lost focus and set the desk on fire. Elsa immediately put of the fire with ice.
"We will work on your control. Don't be sad, the important thing is that you learned the first step. You can create fire. But be careful, fire, like ice, is an emotional power. When you are happy, you can control your element. But, when you feel distress your fire could become unstable. Always focus on the element, but never be afraid of it," spoke Elsa she finished her talk. The two cousins exited the classroom, and Harry walked towards Gryffindor tower.
Next day Harry had other classes. Harry noticed that many people by now began talking about his statements that Voldemort was back. "Ignore them Harry, they don't know what they are talking about," spoke Hermione as the Golden Trio journeyed towards the Gryffindor table.
"Hey Potty, do you have any other crazy ideas? Don't tell us that Sirius Black also joined the Dark Lord, and the two will attack Hogwarts very soon," laughed Malfoy, "Oh, and by the way, five points from you for being a liar,"
Harry looked furious, but Hermione held his hand. "Don't, he is not worth it," spoke his friend.
"Well don't Potter, you are so pathetic that you let your Mudblood girlfriend defend you," spoke Malfoy as Harry took out his wand.
"Detention Malfoy," spoke Elsa as she approached the Gryffindor table.
"Detention? I am a Prefect!" spoke the Slytherin
"And I am the Snow Queen. I have authority to punish any student. Now, I understand that you might think that Harry is a liar, and that Voldemort has not returned. You are free to think that. But you will not call anyone such fool names," spoke Elsa
"My father will hear about this!"
"I would be more than happy to talk to him," spoke Elsa as Malfoy left the scene.
"Elsa, I. Thank you," spoke Harry
"Don't worry Harry, I know he is annoying but you should not let your anger control your judgment. Feel free to tell me about any incident, and I will personally investigate them.
After the classes ended, Harry saw that his Quidditch teammates began tryouts. Interestingly, Anna joined them. "Anna, I don't think it would be a good idea," spoke Elsa
"I would be fine. You don't need to actually use any magic while flying, just hold to the broom. Don't worry about me," Anna reassured her older sister.
"Fine, but if you get hurt, I would pull you off this team," spoke Elsa as she went to see her sister's tryouts.
Harry went to his detention with Umbridge. "Hello Harry Potter, today you will be writing lines. You will write on this piece of paper these words: I must not tell lies," spoke the evil woman.
"But Professor, I don't see any ink," spoke Harry.
"Don't worry about that. You wont need any," smiled Umbridge as she gave Harry a quill.
"Go on, write the lines. I must not tell lies," encouraged him Umbridge as Harry began writing the lines.
Harry felt pain. He saw that the lines began appearing in red. His hand felt pain, and after he looked at it, he saw the same lines appear briefly on his hand, before disappearing. His hand healed, although a tiny scar remained.
"Is everything alright, Potter?" smiled Umbridge
"It's nothing," spoke Harry as he continued writing the lines, feeling the painful sensation as if someone was cutting the lines into his skin with a scalpel.
Harry tried to write the lines without expressing any emotion, although at times it was hard for him to concentrate. At one point his pain was so great that fire appeared from his hand. The paper quickly caught on fire.
"My, my, what a naughty boy you are. Since you are so eager to use magic when you are not authorized to do so, I am extending your detention by another hour. Try not to create any more fire. Conceal your elemental magic, if you have to," spoke Umbridge as she grinned widely.
Harry took a deep breath and continued writing. His hand hurt like hell, but he continued. "It's no use, I have to keep my emotions out. I am sorry Elsa, but I have to conceal them," spoke Harry as he continued to write the lines.
At the end of the detention, Harry's hand was bleeding severely. The skin was not healing fast enough. "Hand, show me your hand," spoke Umbridge as Harry extended his hand to her.
"I see you have not yet learned your lesson. Well, I guess I will see you here tomorrow. We will practice your skills again. It is important to make sure that everyone tells no lies," smiled Umbridge as Harry stood up and slowly exited the classroom.
Harry walked for a while before briefly dropping on the floor. He quickly stood up and found a bench nearby, where he decided to sit for a minute.
"Harry! I was so worried," spoke Hermione as she ran towards he friend, before hugging him, "Are you alright?"
Harry tried to hide his hand, but Hermione saw the bleeding hand. "Harry, you have to tell Dumbledore about this,"
"No, I, I don't wont to bother him with this. It's alright Hermione, I will be fine," spoke Harry as Hermione healed his hand. Bleeding stopped but the scars remained.
"Please, in the future, don't be so stupid and challenge this pink toad," spoke Hermione as a smile appeared on Harry's face.
"Since when have you decided to call teachers names?" asked Harry
"I don't but she deserves this," spoke Hermione as she helped Harry to get back to the tower.
Ron saw his two friends, when they entered the common room. "Blimey Harry, what happened? Your detention lasted longer than it should have," spoke Ron
"This toad used some curse to make Harry's hand bleed," spoke Hermione
"She used some quill. I wrote the lines without ink, and they appeared on my hand. I felt as if a sharp scalpel cut through my skin," spoke Harry as his two best friends gasped.
"You do need to tell about this to Professor Dumbledore," spoke Ron
"That's what I told him as well," agreed Hermione, as Harry went to his bed, tired from the difficult day he had.
Next morning, during breakfast Harry lifted a fork, but then immediately dropped it, since it reminded him of the quill.
"Harry?" Elsa noticed this, and walked from her table to check what happened to her cousin.
"I am fine Elsa, I really am," Harry made a weak smile. Elsa skeptically looked at him, before looking at his hands.
"I must not tell lies," read the scars on his hand. It was clear that Harry's hand was bleeding before, which was supported by extensive scarring of the hand tissue. Elsa immediately understood what happened.
"Umbridge!" shouted Elsa as the walls froze, and a snowstorm appeared in the Great Hall. The temperature dropped, and everyone began shaking from coldness.
A/N: I know I left this on a cliffhanger, but I just could not resist! So, new Defense class is forming, Harry used his fire magic for the first time and then attended his detention.
