Chapter 9: The Unexpected

After the games, everyone in the Camp was exhausted, and were healed by the Camp Mages. Everyone was about to have dinner, after a short prayer. The three of them got their food and sat in a tabes until Elliot came over.

"Hey Angel, want to sit on our table for your victory?" Elliot flirted as Angel looked at Steph. Steph looked away from her as Tori looked at both of them.

"I'm sorry, it wasn't only my doing that help us win. Also, I want to sit with my friends only this time. Next time though." said Angel sadly as Elliot didn't reply but looked at Steph with rage. He then cooled down.

"It's cool, just let me know when you want to sit with me and my boys." Elliot said as he gave Steph a last mean glare and walked away. Steph looked at Angel worriedly.

"You should probably sit with Elliot, since you know him better than I." said Steph as Angel looked back at him.

"Are you kidding. You're way more caring than he is now. He's turning to a jerk ever since you came here, and I guess he's just jealous that I'm with you." explained Angel as both of them blushed silently and looked away.

"I have a feeling he might try to get back at us, in any way possible. Wait a minute…" hesitated Steph as he had a flashback about the prophesy telling him something.

"Steph? You alright?" asked Angel.

"The prophesy…" muttered Steph.

"Prophesy?"

"The prophesy told me that someone would stand in our way, and would be our enemy." explained Steph as Angel widen her eyes.

"You mean, Elliot is going to be our enemy?" asked Angel with a shaken voice. Steph nodded as both of them fell silent. "I knew I shouldn't have trusted him the day I met him."

"Well, you shouldn't trust me either." corrected Steph.

"Why not?" asked Angel as she look at him seriously.

"The reason you hate Elliot now is because of me. Earlier you said that he turned to a jerk ever since I came here. Maybe I shouldn't be here in the first place." Steph said as he got up from the table and walked away until Angel grabbed his hands.

"No, you made the right choice coming here. I never had someone so caring before." Angel complimented but Steph didn't answer back. He didn't say thank you or any other words of thanks. Steph gently pushed her hand away as he went into his room, leaving Angel at the table with Tori.

"He can be like that sometimes." said Tori who sat there quietly the whole time when this was happening.

"I feel like there's something bothering him," replied Angel as she looked at Tori. "Do you think it could about the prophesy he was talking about?"

"Maybe," Tori shrugged until her purple eyes lit. "Wait, maybe I could try and listen to the prophesy Steph was talking about. Tori cast an orb as it got larger. As it got larger, a scroll fell gently landed on a Tori's hand. She gave to Angel to read it. The one was already said by Steph, but the second one caught her surprise, tears literally fell down in her cheeks. Tori looked at her worriedly. "Angel? What's wrong!" Angel took the scroll and began to read it slowly.

"You will protect you friends with all your heart, but you will betray them sooner or later."

read Angel as Tori began to cry.

"T-that can't be," cried Tori. "He's not like that! He'll never betray us!" Angel quickly hugged Tori as she began to calm down.

"Sometimes, friends have to betray others, and it's not intentional either. Every time we argue, I felt like I'm betraying him." replied Angel silently as she got up and headed towards her room.

Steph laid in his bed thinking about what had happened. Angel had held his hand for the first time.

"No, you made the right choice coming here. I never had someone so caring before."

"My father isn't caring as much. Why am I so caring?" Steph silently ask himself.

"You're unlike your father, you are far from being alike with your father, and that's a good thing."

Steph suddenly got up with frustration. "This doesn't make sense! How is that a good thing?"

Just then Angel came in peering at Steph as she silently sat down next to Steph on his bed.

"What do you want, Angel?" asked Steph harshly as Angel looked at him sadly.

"Steph, please don't let your anger overcome you. Maybe I have an answer to your question," Angel suggested silently as she put her hand over Steph's hand. "I think it is a good thing that you're not like your father, but your anger and frustration is turning you almost like him." Steph suddenly widen his eyes as he hear the words he was looking for, anger and frustration. Did that answer his question? His golden eyes glowed bright beautifully, as he finally smiles.

"Good thing you eavesdropped me," joked Steph as Angel turned red.

"Hey! I was trying to help you okay!" yelled Angel as she gave him a hard slap in the face. Steph flew onto the ground by the strong impact on his face as he felt dizzy. Then he got up slowly as he saw Angel's face that confused him. Her face was full of embarrassment.

"You look like you just saw a ghost," joked Steph as Angel got out a mirror.

"It's just your face, it's-" Angel held up a mirror as Steph saw a bright red hand mark on his face.

"How the heck- Did you really slap that hard? Man, talk about letting your anger overcome you," replied Steph as Angel began to turn red again. She held up her hand, but then Steph held up his hands with surrender. "Okay, Okay, I'm sorry. But Angel, thanks for answering my question. I guess you're the only one who can calm me down besides Tori." Angel suddenly looked away from him.

"I-I guess I got to go now," she said as she went out of Steph's room, but then Tori suddenly fell backwards from the door and onto the ground. She rubbed her head and look at Angel nervously. Angel looked down at her with suspicion and crossed her arms. "Tori, were you eavesdropping on us?"

"Um, no! I was just leaving," hesitated Tori as she laughed nervously.

"Tell me the truth!" commanded Angel as Tori sighed.

"Okay fine, I did eavesdropped okay?"

"Why though?" asked Angel

"I just felt like it," Tori said in a smile, which made Angel to roll her eyes. "You two seem to enjoy yourselves. It sounds like you guys like each other or something." Tori smirked as Angel blushed like crazy.

"Don't be silly! An elf and a human having feelings for each other is not allowed!" yelled Angel as Tori giggled.

"Still going down that road? It's okay if you admit that you actually like him, because-" Tori's voice trailed off. Angel felt like she was going to cry again.

"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to," calmed Angel but Tori shook her head.

"I use to think that, but not anymore. I want to express my feelings to the people I truly trust more on, especially friends," replied Tori silently as she began to speak again. "It's just that, Steph and I haven't been talking or spending much time together. I wished he did, but he always with you. I just want some brother and sister time together, but I guess that's not going to happen." Angel looked away sadly. This was all her fault, if she hadn't met Steph in the first place, she wouldn't have broken the brotherly and sisterly bond between them two.

"I have noticed. Maybe I shouldn't be here in the first place, being here brought sorrow for you two. Maybe we should go down that road, where elves and humans can't be trusted to be together," said Angel sadly.

"No, Steph actually trust you. He trusts you a lot more than anyone else," replied Tori as Angel suddenly look at her.

"How do you know that?" asked Angel

"I can feel it within him, and I could also read his mind," said Tori. "Look, we got to go. We have training to do with Master Rufus." Angel raised a brow.

"Is that why you are here? Just to tell us we have training?" asked Angel as Tori nodded. "Alright let me get Steph." Angel with into Steph's room, as she saw him sleeping on his bed. She woke him up as he looked at her dazed.

"Um, sorry for waking you but, we have training with Master Rufus," informed Angel as Steph nodded as he sat up sadly and Angel looked at him worriedly. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I just had a flashback about my burning village where I used to live. It's fine," said Steph as Angel froze and widen her eyes. Did he just say his burning village? She remembered when a year ago, a bunch of elves and her traveled to a village and shot burning arrows. Could it have been Steph's village she burned down? Steph looked at her suspiciously. "Well, thank you for asking if I'm alright or not, but you look like you saw a ghost." Angel snapped to reality and then look at Steph with a nervous laugh.

"No no, I'm fine! Let's just go now," said Angel nervously as Master Rufus stood there glaring at both of them coldly.

"What took both of you so long?" asked Master Rufus. Steph suddenly stepped in front of Angel.

"It was my fault, I got sleepy so she had to wake me up," procrastinated Steph as Master Rufus turned around and walked into the training field. Steph and Angel looked at each other as they shrugged and followed him. When they got there, Master Rufus looked at Steph and shook his head.

"I'm going to go ahead with you first. As you know, your father has the ability to use his arm as a weapon," said Master Rufus as he pointed to my arm. Steph looked at his arm and then looked at Master Rufus.

"I heard he was able to shoot deadly cannons out of his arm or something like that?" asked Steph as Master Rufus nodded.

"All you have to do is focus on your target and point your palm at it," instructed Master Rufus as Steph did as he was told. He focused on a tree and point his palm at it like he was ironman or something. Just then, his arm started to glow until a giant laser shot out and blew up the trees. It made a huge radiation cloud as the it clear, and the trees were into pieces. Angel looked at Steph with awe. Steph looked at his arm with satisfaction and laughed nervously.

"It's king of scary, but truthfully, it's freaking cool as hell," exclaimed Steph as he felt a burn in his arm.

One hour later…

"Hey Steph?" called out Angel as she sat down next to Steph on his bed. Steph was wrapping his legs with a roll of bandage which was still hurting after the games. Steph looked up at her with a warm smile as he scooted to the right for her to sit.

"Something wrong? You look sad," said Steph as Angel looked away from him sadly.

"Remember how you said your village burned down last year?" asked Angel. Steph suddenly looked away from her and then spoke.

"Let me guess, you came here show you could apologize about burning that village, and to admit that a group of elves plus you were responsible for it. Am I right?" asked Steph as Angel widen her eyes at Steph surprisingly and then cried.

"I'm sorry! I'm didn't know! I just-" she was interrupted by Steph hugging her.

"It's fine! Please don't cry! Oh great, look what I have done," replied Steph as Angel began to calm down.

"I-I'm sorry, I could've killed you. The elves, they- " Steph looked away as Angel paused.

"It's in the past now. There's nothing that can change it. I won't go back to it even it was built again anyways, so you can forget about it," said Steph sadly as Angel looked at him worriedly.

"You're forgiving me?" asked Angel as Steph nodded. "You're too nice. Maybe I doubt you too much, maybe I could trust you more than other one else." Angel said as she touched Steph's cheeks gently as Steph looked at Angel. Angel suddenly leaned on in him, as her face came closer to his. Steph suddenly widen his eyes, until Angel's lips touched his, and his eyes slowly closed. He can't believe she kissed him, that was unexpected. She broke the kiss as she looked away from him and blushed. Steph also blushed as Angel got up and left Steph's room.

"Wait!" called out Steph as Angel looked at him with a warm smile. Steph looked away as he thought about something, but then he shook his head. "Never mind." Angel looked at him worriedly as she exited out of his room, and Steph laid on his bed as he thought about the kiss. Why did she decided to kiss him? It doesn't really make much sense to him, but he pretty sure she enjoyed it. Steph fell asleep thinking, forgetting about everything that had happened.
