"The Turning Point"
Thanks for all the positive comments. Please enjoy and review!
Jenna walked into Chris' room to see her sleeping and smiled at the girl, moving in and sat down on the bed and shook the girl awake.
Groaning, Chris opened her eyes to see her aunt smiling down at her.
"What are you perky about?" she asked.
"Did you tell off Logan 'Scum' Fell last night?" Jenna asked.
"More or less. Why do you ask?" Chris sat up.
"Well, he seemed shocked about it. Little Chris is getting sassy. Finally, I was waiting to see what you inherited from me." Jenna laughed.
Chris rolled her eyes with an amused grin as she pushed herself out of bed and started grabbing her stuff for the day.
Her mind was still reeling from last night and she had just learned that Emily had done something to Alexandra from burning her body, but she wasn't sure what it was exactly.
Dressing in jeans, a red long sleeved shirt and suede ankle boots, Chris passed by her brother's room as Elena came out of the bathroom.
Seeing him hunched over something on his desk, they both shared a smile when they realized Jeremy had gotten back into drawing in his old sketchpad.
They both then left him and went downstairs finding Jenna getting ready to leave, slinging her purse over her shoulder.
"Jeremy's got his sketchpad out." Elena announced making Jenna turn to them with a smile of disbelief.
"You're kidding." She said.
"Nope, but don't say a word. The minute we encourage him, he'll put it away." Elena advised.
"For you maybe." Chris smirked at her.
"Psychology major. Check that. And you and Stefan? Update?" Jenna asked when she saw Elena looking at her phone.
"That's so complicated my head hurts even trying to think of ways to describe it." Chris answered.
"He knows how I feel and where I stand. And I know where he stands, but it doesn't matter. He's leaving, moving away." Elena said.
"Where's he going?" Jenna asked.
"I've stopped asking questions. The answers get scary." Elena informed as the three women walked out into the sunlight.
"Your leaves, mine returns." Jenna groaned.
"So he didn't listen when I told him to go to Hell last night." Chris mused.
"You did that? To Logan Fell? Good." Elena said at her sister's nod.
"I didn't let him past the front door." Jenna said.
"I hope you slammed the door in his face." Elena retorted.
"Ah, a medium slam." Jenna confirmed.
"I did worst." Chris shrugged.
"Three-strike rule, Jenna. You're not even allowed to watch the news." Elena joked.
"Exactly. No more Logan 'Scum' Fell." Jenna smiled.
(At school…)
All around, people were getting ready for the career night that would involve the parents and other workers coming in from all around town.
"Did I miss something?" Elena asked when she spotted Matt and Caroline laughing and talking.
"They've been hanging out." Bonnie explained.
"Kind of weird don't you think?" Elena asked.
"They look kind of cute together." Chris smiled as Caroline looked in her direction and waved at her before going back to speaking with Matt.
"She needs someone nice like him. As opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon." Bonnie quipped.
Chris looked down at that, the memory of last night fresh in her mind of how Damon showed the demon within and attacked Bonnie simply because Emily was using her body and betrayed him.
She was infuriated with him for what he had done, but she wasn't scared, though she did want to yell at him for all the trouble he had caused.
What had happened to that innocent, kind Damon that Alexandra had knew and how did he transform into such a monster?
"Yeah, how are you doing with all that?" Elena asked.
"I'm freaked out. Damon attacked me. I could be dead right now. But I'm also grateful." Bonnie said.
"Grateful?" Chris asked in confusion.
"To Stefan. He saved my life. Have you seen him?" Bonnie asked Elena took off her scarf and shoved it in her locker.
"Not since he told me he was leaving. For all I know, he's already gone." Elena stated.
"He wouldn't just leave." Chris cut in.
"Yes, he would. He thinks he's protecting us. Clean break and all that." Elena pulled some books out.
"So, what are you gonna do?" Bonnie asked.
"What am I supposed to do? I already begged him not to go. If I ask again, I'm being selfish. It is what it is." Elena shut her locker as the trio began walking.
"Oh. Maybe it's for the best." Bonnie said.
"What? Why?" Elena asked.
"I mean, what kind of future could you have had with him, even if he stayed?" Bonnie asked.
Just then, the banner some student council members were hanging up fluttered down in front of the girls, looking at it to see the words 'Promise of Your Future' on it which made Elena give Bonnie an annoyed look while Chris was amused by the irony.
"Did you just-?" Elena asked.
"No, I swear." Bonnie said.
"Oh, God." Elena groaned as she stormed off.
"I really hate drama." Chris sighed.
"Okay, so Elena's turn is over. You're next." Bonnie rounded on her.
"Next for what?" Chris asked as they started walking.
"About what Emily said. You know, about you and Alexandra." Bonnie reminded.
"I honestly have no idea what she even meant." Chris shook her head.
"Grams told me that fire not only destroys things, but it gives birth to new life. From the ashes of a body being burned, the soul lifts up to start a new life." Bonnie explained.
"Can you please get to the point? I don't want to read between the lines or figure these witchy brain teasers." Chris sighed.
Bonnie rolled her eyes at the tired looking girl and grabbed his wrist, making her stop walking and looked into her hazel eyes.
"Isn't it obvious? Alexandra's body was destroyed, but not her soul. It was just reborn. Different lives, same soul. You're Alexandra reincarnated." Bonnie explained.
Chris gave a shuddering breath of disbelief as she then remembered Stefan and Damon's looks when they put the pieces of the puzzle together last night.
The reasons she had the dreams, why she had mood swings that made her act like Alexandra and how she trusted the Salvatore brothers.
It was all because she wasn't just a replicate of Alexandra; she was Alexandra in a past life.
"I-I have to go." Chris stuttered as she then quickly went off to class.
(During break…)
Sitting under her usual tree was Chris as she pretended to read her book, but the truth was she had reread the first paragraph over and over again.
Her mind was elsewhere, thinking back to her dreams and was relieved they were gone along with the headaches since she had seen Alexandra's death.
"Hello, Chrissie." Someone greeted.
Looking up at the shadow being cast down on her, she found Damon smirking down at her.
"Is there a reason you're here?" she asked.
"Getting defensive, huh? Let me guess, you're scared of me, you hate me." Damon counted off.
With a huff, Chris stood up and crossed her arms
"I'm infuriated with you." she said.
"Really? Why is that?" Damon asked.
"You killed everyone in your family, you turned Vicki, you killed Lexi and you hurt Bonnie. I have every right to hate you and be scared of you, but the truth is, I can't." she said.
He looked confused at the last part of the sentence, expecting her to yell at him and call him a monster and hate him.
What he didn't expect was for her to only be angered at him.
"Why can't you?" he asked.
"Because I remember what you used to be like. The real you and that gives me hope that there's still some good left inside of you." she answered.
Damon kept silent at that as he stared into her eyes, searching for something and saw Alexandra deep inside of her.
He forced a smirk at her as he brushed a curl out of her face, but he could still tell she was frustrated with him.
"I came to warn you. There's a new vampire in town. So stay close to your sister or brother, got it?" he instructed.
She nodded at him, worry swelling inside of her before Damon then sped off and she looked around, trying to catch a figure dressed from head to toe in black, but he was long gone.
(That night…)
Chris was walking around the school, looking at the booths set up by the business owners and even saw the Sheriff, Mayor Lockwood and people her parents used to work with walking around.
She came to a booth that had drawings on the table and saw that Tyler was going through a book which made her curious as she walked over.
"I didn't know you were interested in art." She said making him jump.
"You need to wear a bell." He stated.
"Sorry." Chris said.
Looking down, she saw an image of a man and spotted Tyler's signature at the bottom of the page which peaked her interest.
"You drew this?" she asked.
"Yeah, what of it?" Tyler asked.
"It's amazing. I mean, it's really great." She said as he looked at her, surprised she wasn't insulting him like most would.
His father wouldn't approve of his artistic skills very much that he knew.
Just then, Jeremy walked over and was surprised to see Tyler with his sister looking over drawings and Tyler turned to see Jeremy just staring at him confused.
"What do you want?" he asked making Chris look up to see her brother.
"Hey, uh, just surprised to see you here. Art usually implies culture and culture implies…not you." Jeremy joked as he walked over.
"Jeremy." Chris spoke in a warning tone that their mother used to use.
"Go to Hell." Tyler said to Jeremy as he walked off and Jeremy smirked.
"That wasn't funny." Chris stated.
"Since when do you take his side?" Jeremy asked.
"Since I saw this." She showed him the drawing and Jeremy looked at it in shock, then over to where the Mayor's son stormed off.
"That was kind of a dick thing to say huh?" he asked.
"You think?" Chris retorted.
"I'm gonna have to apologize huh?" Jeremy asked.
"Yep." Chris nodded.
Jeremy groaned and walked off smile Chris smirked as she watched while Alaric stepped up from behind the girl.
"You know, seeing stuff like that, it's hard to tell which one is the older sibling." Alaric said making Chris turn to him.
"We have our moments. So what are you doing here?" Chris asked.
"Well, I had nothing better to do tonight. Figured I might as well make sure the kids behaved. And from the tension going on with those two, I made the right choice." Alaric said meaning Tyler and Jeremy.
"Yeah, they've been like that lately." Chris as her eyes fell on the ring he wore.
He noticed what she was looking at and held up his hand, showing off the ring.
"You're interested in jewelry?" he asked.
"Uh, no, it's just…that ring looks familiar. Like I've seen it before." She shook her head and gave a weak chuckle.
Alaric was curious by this as they started walking, but shook it off when he spotted two familiar women up ahead.
"Hey, Elena, Jenna." He greeted.
"Hi, Mr. Saltzman." Elena greeted while Jenna smiled at him.
Chris moved to her sister's side when she saw the smile her aunt had, knowing it was a flirting look and felt relieved that Jenna was getting over Logan.
"Yeah, I was hoping to see you here." Alaric said to Jenna.
"Career Night is the new bowling." She said making him chuckle.
"Okay, um, excuse us." Elena smiled and linked arms with Chris, pulling her off.
She started pulling her off, then stopped near a lesser populated area to speak with her, a serious look on her face.
"Chris, listen to me. Logan Fell is a vampire. I need you stay here with the crowd." Elena instructed.
"He's a vampire? How?" Chris asked.
"I don't know. I'm going to find Stefan, but you have to stay here. Find Jeremy, stay with Jenna. Just stay here. Please." Elena said.
Looking into those amber eyes, Chris nodded and Elena then ran off to find Stefan.
Glancing around, she then started walking, looking for her brother to stay with him or at least Matt, Caroline or Bonnie so she would be safe.
As she was walking, Logan stepped out in front of her making her gasp lightly in surprise.
"Hello Christina. Nice to see you again." He greeted.
"You do realize I can scream and have the police running over quickly right?" she informed.
"You do realize I can kill you before that happens. You know, out you and your siblings, I had a feeling you would find out about the Council and vampires first." Logan smirked.
"Get away from me." she glared at him and tried to walk away, but he grabbed her wrist in a tight grip, gasping lightly as her bone started to crack.
"You smell so sweet. I can only imagine how much of a treat your blood is." He sneered down at her.
She glared up at him, fear filling her but she forced it back as she tried to tear out of his grip, but he wasn't a human anymore, therefor he was stronger than the normal man.
"Let her go." Forbes demanded as she walked over, her hand over her gun.
"Okay." Logan smirked as he let go of the girl.
Groaning, she rubbed at her sore wrist as she saw it begin to bruise quickly and Forbes gently touch the girl's back.
"Christina, go find your brother or sister. Go on. I'll deal with him." she said.
Nodding, Chris walked off, cradling her arm to her chest as she searched for one of her family members only to run into Matt.
"Whoa, hey. You okay there?" he asked.
"Yeah, I, um, just hurt my wrist." She said.
"You gonna be okay?" he asked concerned.
She nodded and forced a smile up at him.
"Come on, I'll take you home." He offered.
"No, y-you don't have to." She shook her head.
"Well, I am. Come on, let's go. Just call your aunt and tell her." He said.
The concern in his blue eyes made her smile and she nodded, agreeing with him as she pulled out her phone and texted Jenna what was going on.
After Matt drove her home, Chris found some gauze and wrapped up her wrist properly and then went into the living room, waiting for her family to get home.
She prayed that Logan was taken out before someone got hurt.
To be continued…
