Ch. 10
"Okay here are the rules. It will be best 2 out of 3 match. You must bring your opponent down by pinning their back onto the ground or cornering them in a position where they would have to forfeit. You may use magic that enhances one's physical abilities such as strength, speed and so on." The announcer, Ars, began explaining the rules "During the second round there has been some additions such as you will be allowed to use weapons of your choice! Of course, the weapons will be embedded with magic that will not fatally hurt the opponent. Your teachers have already spoken with you both about this, correct?"
"Yes." Akane said
"Hn." Itachi replied
"Do not even think of going easy on me or to underestimate me just because I am a girl." Akane told Itachi
Itachi's eyes locked in with hers. "I can see by looking at you that this isn't your first time with hand to hand combat. The way you compose yourself, you've trained your body to become stronger. In real life, in battle, in war, underestimating an opponent can lead to ones death." Itachi said taking off the blue coat and throwing it to the side as many girls squealed "Be it a man, or a woman, I will never underestimate an opponent."
Akane smiled. "I've made up my mind then." Akane said as she cracked her knuckles "Depending on how this ends."
"Now that both contestants are ready, begin!"
Itachi rose a hand making a sign as Akane rose a brow. "What are you doing?"
"Where I am from, through many generations we would use the Seal of Confrontation, when sparring with a comrade." Itachi replied
Akane lightly smirked and mimicked Itachi's sign. Itachi nodded while Akane jumped back a few feet.
Itachi stood there as Akane chanted two spells as her body glowed and she swiftly ran to the side. 'A spell to enhance her speed...' Itachi's highly trained eyes easily followed her movements as she came charging at him and he jumped away evading her fist which connected with the ground causing it to crack '...and a spell to enhance her strength.'
Itachi then saw Akane leap into the air and come down towards him but Itachi ducked under the punch and punched her in the stomach 'not just her strength but her defense too'
Akane smirked as she kicked at Itachi's side but he had blocked her leg which sent him skidding back a bit. "No way." Akane said
Akane then began running around him in circles as he just stood there. 'Is he underestimating me?!' Akane glared at him as she charged at him from behind as he turned around and caught the punch aimed at his head 'No, he's just that good.'
Itachi then grabbed her wrist with his other hand and lifted her into the air as he brought her down behind him but she twisted her body so her back would not be on the ground giving him a chance to pin her down.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty's eyes slightly widened. 'That move, I've seen it before.'
Back with Itachi, who jumped back evading a swipe kick from Akane. Akane quickly came at him with swift punches, but Itachi kept slapping them to the side as she once more swiped kicked at his legs which he jumped to avoid as she jumped as well bringing her leg up high and brought it down onto Itachi who moved to the side in mid air and grabbed her leg and threw her away from him.
"This is amazing! The two are not letting up!" The announcer said as the crowd cheered
Akane charged at him once more this time kicking up as he slightly moved back avoiding it easily. "Not bad, but..." Akane was on her two hands as she began spinning as Itachi avoided her kick but then she jumped onto his shoulders, her legs wrapping around his head as she twisted her body bring him down but Itachi placed his hand on the ground and using his own strength slammed her body onto the ground but she let go of his head and rolled away with her speed before she could be pinned down.
"I thought you didn't like to drag things on for too long, Itachi." they heard Albert say "Get serious."
Itachi lightly sighed. Akane glared at Itachi as she then lost sight of him, her eyes widened when she felt a hand on her shoulder which lifted her off the ground and she was being pulled back. Akane landed a few feet away as she charged at Itachi, she threw a punch which Itachi moved his head to evade.
Akane's eyes widened. 'Shit, he got me.'
Itachi pulled her arm to the side as his hand was on her throat as he moved her back slightly before kicking behind her feet causing her to fall back and hit the ground. She was going to roll out of the way but he was quick and had already grabbed her hands and pinned them over her head. Akane wrapped her legs around his waist and tried to move, but Itachi would't budge as he held both hands in one of his and placed one on her neck as if it was a weapon.
"You win this round." Akane said as she realized what position they were in and her face turned slightly red.
Itachi tilted his head as he too realized and stood quickly and offered his hand out to her which she took "Thank you." She said small tint of red on her cheeks.
"And the first round goes to Itachi!" The crowd cheered and the girls squealed as some were jealous "And now the second round"
Some teacher walked out with carts of different weapons. Akane grabbed a sword and a chain as she ran her her finger on the swords edge as it cut her but then healed her wound. 'Why use weapons if they will not cause much damage?' She then looked over at Itachi who took a set of Kunai and wire placing them in a pouch 'Why the wire?'
Itachi held a kunai in his hand as he looked up at Celica the at Her Majesty who seemed to be really focused on him. Itachi looked at the necklace she wore and narrowed his eyes.
The teachers had left with the carts as the two readied themselves.
"Ready, begin!"
Akane charged at Itachi and swung her blade down as Itachi blocked it with his kunai.
"I apologize but there is something I must do. So I will be ending this quickly." Itachi said
"What?! You think you can beat me so easily?!" Akane shouted
Itachi kicked Akane in the stomach sending her flying back as she skidded on the ground before she charged in a full sprint towards him a she swung at his side but he knocked the sword out of her hand and grabbed her by the collar and spun around with her in mid air as he brought her down but she pulled on the chain and grabbed her sword in mid air and stabbed it into the ground and kicked up at him but he evaded.
Akane was standing up and looked around but did not see him as she looked up and saw Itachi upside down in the air with the kunai in his hands, in front of the sun but she had to use her hand to block the suns light.
Itachi was using the sun and its light to his advantage as he closed his eyes and threw the kunai in different directions.
"What is he doing?!" Gibul asked "He's throwing them randomly!"
What they saw next shocked them when the kunai began to hit each other as they pierced the ground around and behind Akane, they then saw Itachi pull on the wire he had tied on the kunai knives as they wrapped around Akane and he landed safely on the ground as he pulled at the wire and Akane came flying at him as he grabbed her and pinned her on the ground, Kunai at her throat. Akane as a last attempt yanked on the chain as the sword came flying towards them at a high speed thanks to her enhanced strength.
Akane's eyes widened as she realized she had put too much force when she pulled on the chain and Itachi made no move to evade it. Akane was about to scream for him to move when she saw him move his finger seeing a wire wrapped around it as a Kunai stabbed into a link in the chain stopping the sword before it came in contact with his body.
Akane sighed in relief. "I forfeit. You win."
With Her Majesty. "Could he be..." she whispered as she began to recall an old memory
Flashback
"Alicia-chan, let me show you this cool move!" a young girl with long black hair and onyx eyes said as she played with some knives.
"Mikoto-chan, I don't think we should be playing with knives." A younger version of Her Majesty said
"It's okay. I've practiced and it's really cool!" Mikoto said as she stood a good distance away from Alicia
She watched as the young girl leaped into the air using magic as she turned her body upside down and threw the various knives in different directions as they began to hit one another and redirected themselves to a certain spot as she landed safely.
"That was amazing!" Alicia said
"I could show you, if you want." Mikoto said
"I-I don't think I could do that." Alicia laughed nervously
"It's okay, maybe I'll teach my future child or children." Mikoto smiled and Alicia nodded
Flashback end
"And that's the match! Itachi wins two in a row! Wow! What a performance! Class 2 has come out victorious!" The crowd cheered
Itachi cut the wires with his kunai as he helped Akane get up he once again made the same sign and Akane mimicked him as he brought his fingers towards her and wrapped them around hers as she did the same.
"This is the Seal of Reconciliation. Which means even though we battled each other, we are still comrades." Itachi explained and Akane smiled
Itachi let go and walked away as his classmates ran onto the field to congratulate him.
"Itachi." Akane called out to him.
Itachi turned around and was now facing her as she walked up to him and his classmates wondered what she wanted.
"That was a good match." Akane said extending her hand out "This is the regular way."
Itachi nodded and took her hand into a handshake as he felt her pull him down towards her as her other hand grabbed onto his free one, then his eyes widened when he felt her lips on his.
The crowd and his classmates got quiet.
"Ehhh!" The girls in the stadium shouted as most went pale and some had fire in their eyes.
Itachi quickly moved back and removed his hands from her grip.
Akane smiled. "That was my first kiss. I decided to give it you at the beginning of our match if you defeated me." Akane turned around and waved at him "I'll win next time, then you'll have to kiss me."
"Huh?"
Itachi then felt cold as he turned around to face his classmates.
"Itachi you lucky bastard..." He could hear the guys muttering
"Itachi-san." Teresa smiled
"I-ta-chi." Wendy said
"How bold." Lynn said a blush on her face
"Now, now. He was caught by surprise, he didn't see that coming. He wasn't expecting it." Sistine tried to save him but...
"He saw through all her high speed punches and kicks, but couldn't see her trying to kiss him. Impossible." Albert said with Re=L at his side
Itachi then felt the cold stares again as he looked at Re=L who looked at him as he saw anger, sadness, jealousy? He didn't know what he saw honestly. "Itachi, idiot." Re=L said.
"I-I..." Itachi sighed and rubbed his temples
After their small celebration of victory, Class 2 and the other classes that had competed were once again lined up on the field in front of a stage.
"And now for the award ceremony." Ars said "The winner, second-year Class 2 will receive a medal from Her Majesty the Queen, Alicia VII."
Itachi, Albert and Re=L walked towards and onto the stage.
"Albert and Re=L?" Her Majesty questioned then looked at Itachi 'He looks just like her...' "And Itachi."
"You made it." Celica said
"The representative instructor of the class winning the magic competition will earn the honor of receiving a medal directly from Her Majesty herself." Albert said but then his voice changed and his appearance changed along with Re=L's "I've been waiting for this moment."
"Impossible! You two are supposed to be on the run!" The Knight, Zelos, beside Her Majesty said
"That's him!" they heard an other knight who had just appeared say "He's the boy who knocked us all out unconscious and helped the other two escape!" He then looked at Glenn and Rumia "What are they doing here?!"
"We traded places with some friends using self illusion." Glenn said
"Get them!" Zelos commanded the knights
"Back off." Celica said as a barrier was placed around them isolating them from the rest.
"This may be forward of me, but that man, Zelos, and your Imperial Guard are unjustly using your name to try and kill an innocent girl." Itachi said
"Shut it, you brat."
"But we've safely protected Rumia, and the Imperial Guard is outside this barrier." Itachi said ignoring Zelos
"You're taking too long, Itachi." Glenn sighed "What he's saying is for Your Majesty, please order them to stop this senseless violence."
"We cannot." Zelos said as he looked down "When all this is over, I will take responsibility and kill myself."
While Glenn and the others spoke, the Queen looked at Itachi who's eyes had turned red with three tomoe around the pupil as they spun around it.
-Genjutsu-
The queen looked around and realized something was different.
"Queen Alicia VII."
The queen heard his voice but could not see him until a murder of crows flew around her and formed into his figure standing a few away from her.
"Where am I? What is this?" Her Majesty questioned
"You're inside one of my illusions. The others on the outside will not notice and you will speak as if you are still there." Itachi replied as the scenery changed into a garden "Do not worry, I mean you no harm." He saw as she calmed down slightly "I have some questions I'd like to ask you but those will have to wait, for now answer these."
Itachi looked at her necklace. "Your Majesty is that a new necklace? I now remember seeing you wear a different one last time we met."
Her Majesty's eyes widened before she composed herself "This is my favorite necklace."
"But doesn't it tire your shoulders? Shouldn't you take it off?" Itachi questioned
"Certainly not. I don't want to remove it." Her majesty replied
"I see. Thank you for your cooperation." Itachi said as he looked towards the sky "I'm going to release the illusion now."
"Wait!" Her Majesty said as Itachi looked at her "You're her son, aren't you?" Her Majesty saw the slight widening of his eyes "You're Mikoto's son." Her Majesty smiled.
"Yes." Itachi replied a small smile of his own as he released the illusion.
-Reality-
Itachi stood in between Glenn and Rumia who was on her knees crying.
"Glenn, I was right. We're going with my plan." Itachi said as Glenn looked at him and nodded as he slipped an object into Itachi's pocket. "Rumia..." Rumia looked up at him tears in her eyes as he smiled "Your mother truly loves you."
Itachi then sprinted towards Her Majesty as Zelos yelled at him to not move. Zelos swung his two swords at Itachi as he leaped in between the two swords, kicking the top one out of his hand and stomping on the other as Glenn appeared behind them and kicked Zelos back as Itachi moved forward and pulled out the object in his pocket.
Her Majesty saw Itachi swiftly appear in front of her with Glenn's 'Fool Arcana' in hand as it activated and in one swift motion had passed right by her. She looked back at him and he had the necklace in his hand as she felt it was no longer around her neck, and wondered how he had taken it without her noticing.
Celica watched and rose a brow. 'What magic was that?' She questioned herself
Her Majesty, Rumia, and Zelos were wide eyed as he crushed the necklace in his hand and the magic disappeared from it.
"You were right. A conditional cursed necklace." Glenn said
"Remove it, the wearer dies. If a certain amount of time passes, they die. If they reveal how to undo the curse, they die." Itachi said as he stumbled a bit and began sweating heavily "The only way to dispel it was to kill Rumia." Before Itachi could stumble again Rumia and Celica were by his side. 'What's going on? I know I haven't used much magic or chakra...so why?' He thought.
"How did you...? Why didn't the curse activate?" Zelos questioned
Itachi showed him the Fool Arcana. "With this I was able to completely seal all magic within the specified area."
"But you're not it's original holder. How is it possible for you to use it?" Zelos asked
"We don't know." Celica answered "But as you can see it takes its toll on him."
"That's why I said I should've done it." Glenn commented
"You're too slow. Zelos would've injured you, then you would've complained about almost getting killed." Itachi said, Glenn looked away scratching his cheek as Itachi faced Her Majesty "Now, then, Your Majesty, you should cut back on the lies."
"Huh? Lies?" Rumia questioned
"If she would've slipped up when speaking, it would've activated. It was all a kind of riddle to make us realize there was a cursed item involved, even though Itachi had figured it out a while ago." Glenn said
Her Majesty looked at Itachi as she faced Rumia and ran up to her embracing her in a hug.
"I'm sorry, Ermiana! I hurt you again!" Her Majesty said
"Your Majesty?" Rumia said a bit stunned
"I'm so glad... I'm so glad you're safe."
"Mom!" Rumia hugged Her Majesty back.
After a minute or two the barrier came down and everyone was back to normal. Itachi held his composure not letting the toll show on him.
What no one, including Itachi due to his current state, noticed in the shadows were two pairs of eyes looking at them from the furthest point in the stadium. One pair of eyes were yellow and the other pair were onyx which turned red with three tomoe around the pupil, the Sharingan..
"Found you, Itachi." The yellow eyed figure said
"He's weakened. Now is our chance." The Sharingan wielder said
"No. Preparations haven't been completed, for now we'll have someone keep an eye on him."
With Celica, she was checking on Itachi as his magic replenished itself.
"We have to find a solution to this." Celica said sitting on the couch across from him "Something is going on with your Chakra and Magic, and when you use an Arcana it takes a lot out of you."
"Are there other ways or methods?" Itachi asked as Celica rose a brow "I don't need the Arcana, but in the case that I can't use my chakra, I will need a special magic like the Arcana provides."
"Maybe you already have it, but you haven't used it or don't want to." Celica said slightly narrowing her eyes as Itachi kept his composure
It was now later in the day, the sun had almost fully set and the night sky was taking its place. Meanwhile, Itachi was at the restaurant with his classmates as he ate with the guys and drank some grape juice which tasted a bit different before the girls pulled him away.
"Rumia says you have a killer sweet tooth..." Wendy said as she ordered some dango
"...But we think she might have exaggerated..." Teresa said placing a large plate from cookies to brownies and different types of desserts and sweets
"...so we challenge you!" Sistine said setting down a whole brandy cake
Itachi looked at them tilting his head slightly as he smirked. "I accept your challenge." Itachi said his eyes twinkling seeing all the sweet dessert placed in front of him.
For the next few minutes the girls were beginning to drop out one by one until it was down to Sistine and Itachi. They both ate half of the brandy cake and ordered more until Sistine finally had enough and was feeling a bit dizzy.
"Y-You win!" Sistine laughed as did the others
Itachi kept eating as he felt two magic signatures walk in through the door. Itachi stood up and walked towards the two as he saw Sistine had jumped onto Glenn and was rubbing her face against his. Itachi stopped a couple of feet from them as they looked at him.
"Y-you..."
"I am the one who stands above all, the Uchiha Prodigy, Itachi-sama." Itachi said his face was red and his vision slightly blurry
"I-Itachi, White Cat, what's wrong with you two?" Glenn questioned
"We had a sweet dessert eating contest and they had too much brandy cake!" Wendy also red faced said and laughed
"And it seems like they mixed Itachi's drink with Alcohol!" Kash said as he took a sip of the drink
Itachi smiled and motioned Rumia to come closer as she did. She saw him move his hand and thought he was going to poke her again, but to her surprise he didn't. Instead he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to him in a hug.
"I was able to keep you safe." Itachi said as she looked up at him "I will definitely be on your side. I promise." Rumia's eyes widened as she hugged him back "So please, let me stay by your side." Itachi whispered as Rumia smiled and nodded as he then placed his forehead on hers.
Rumia could feel the warmth of his breath on her, the light graze of their noses touch. Her eyes widened as she realized what was going on and her heart began beating faster. Her face was red as she closed her eyes and waited for their lips too touch but they never did. She opened her eyes and saw him looking out towards a dark alleyway.
"Itachi?" Rumia said
Itachi looked down at her and smiled as he poked her forehead. "Sorry Rumia, it seems I need some fresh air, maybe next time."
Rumia watched as he walked outside as Glenn and Sistine still clinging onto him tapped her shoulder.
"Ah, Glenn-sensei, Sisti." Rumia said
"Where'd Itachi go?" Glenn said being the only one who had been paying attention to what had almost happened.
"He said he needed some fresh a-" Before Rumia finished they heard a loud crash outside
Glenn tried prying Sistine off of him but no avail as he decide to quit and ran outside with Rumia seeing a large dust cloud coming from the alleyway Itachi had looked at, so they ran towards it.
-Moments Prior-
There were two grunts in a dark alleyway watching the restaurant that the students had been in for a while now. They saw when the teacher came with a blonde girl which they knew was Rumia. They saw and heard their interactions with the others as they saw Itachi come up to them and realized was drunk.
"Looks like it worked." A blue haired man said
"Can't believe you actually paid one of the servers to spike his drink." A brown haired man said
"I am the one who stands above all, the Uchiha Prodigy, Itachi-sama."
The two grunts heard him say as they heard a voice on their communicators.
"Status Report."
"The female target just arrived with the teacher and the male is drunk." The brown haired man said
"We can take them on in their conditions, please give us permission to engage and capture." The blue haired man said
They then heard a laughter on the other end as a different voice began to speak.
"Take it from me, you do not want to fight him when he's drunk."
"And why is that?"
"Two times, I have tried to kill him, one time he was in a bad mood, the other time he was drunk. And those two times I almost died. When he's like that he doesn't know how to hold back. So don't engage him."
The two men rolled their eyes.
"Whatever, I don't know what so special about this kid." The brown haired man said
"Yeah, if anything the kid is made of pride and arrogance." The blue haired man said
The two men began laughing as they then heard a third laugh coming from behind them.
As they turned around they saw it was Itachi who was laughing with them then the next thing they knew they were literally in the ground in a crater.
"That is the Sin of Pride."
Itachi walked down into the crater as he heard the communicator go off. One of the men tried to get rid of it but it disappeared and then they saw it in Itachi's hand.
"This belongs to me now." Itachi said
"W-What kind of magic does this guy posses?!"
"You two there?"
"This voice. Hello?" Itachi replied
"Anybody home?" Itachi said his voice still slurred
"It's been a long time, Itachi-san."
"It's Itachi-sama to you. Wait a second this voice, ah...your name was...what was your name again?"
Itachi heard a chuckle on the other side. "Even if I tell you, it wouldn't matter. We'll be seeing each other soon, Itachi-san."
Itachi tilted his head.
-Present-
Itachi turned around seeing the two figures, no, three of Glenn, Sistine who was sleeping on his back and Rumia. He waved at them as he yawned and then dropped to the ground falling asleep instantly.
Rumia ran down into the crater and kneeled down next to Itachi who seemed to be sleeping peacefully. She tried waking him up but he would only stir. She sighed and lifted his head, letting him rest on her lap.
Glenn looked over at Itachi then at the two men who were still alive and had been on the receiving end of Itachi's wrath is what he thought. He went up to them and found tattoos that matched those of the Researchers of Divine Wisdom.
He looked back at Rumia and Itachi, now seeing Itachi had his arms wrapped around Rumia like a pillow as Rumia was petting his hair. Glenn sighed as he called Celica with his communicator.
"Glenn? What is it now?" Celica questioned
"Itachi just took down, two grunts from the Researchers of Divine Wisdom." Glenn said as he didn't hear anything on the other side "Itachi was drunk. And I think he may have used some extraordinary magic. I can feel it in the air and in his body."
"Is he okay?"
"He's currently sleeping and snuggling on Rumia's lap."
"I'm on my way!"
Glenn walked over to Rumia. "Celica should be here shortly, so please bare with him for a bit longer."
Rumia smiled. "It's okay. I'm just glad that Itachi feels comfortable enough to sleep on my lap again."
"Why don't you tell him how you feel?" Glenn asked as Rumia turned red
"...maybe next time." Rumia replied with a soft smile
Glenn looked at the two and chuckled lightly as he was then slapped in the face.
"B-Be quite...try...sleep..." Sistine said as she dozed off again
"Dammit! Wake up, White Cat!" Glenn yelled but nothing.
