Logan's body was completely still, his eyes closed, his hands folded over his chest, which was barely rising. He wasn't sure if he was really asleep or what, but something was happening that sent him into a dazed, dream-like state.

He was lost, surrounded by nothing but darkness. He walked slowly, trying to figure out his whereabouts and what was going on.

But it seemed that no matter how far he walked, he wasn't getting anywhere.

He continued on though, trying to figure out where he was supposed to go and what was happening around him. He shivered as a chill ran through the air. He looked around, hoping to find something, anything, which would help him.

Finally, he saw it.

In the distance he caught a barely glowing light; upon closer inspection, he noticed not one, but two glowing lights. They were too far away, but they almost looked green. Moving towards the lights, he saw the green grow brighter and brighter as he neared.

They were just two pinpoints of green light, close set and glowing. He began to run, knowing he just had to get to the lights.

He could feel it, deep in his soul, that he needed to be where those lights were.

Soon, they were glowing so bright that he knew he had reached his location. He stopped and just watched the lights as they shimmered in front of him.

He felt like he recognized that color from somewhere, but he couldn't place it. He took a shuddering breath as the lights dimmed until they blended back in with the darkness.

"No!" he cried, emotion flooding his voice. "Come back! I need you!"

"You need me?" a shaking voice asked back, making him fall to his knees.

"Yes. I need you."

"Why do you say that?"

"Because… I feel it. I need you. I need you in a way that I have never needed anyone before." He saw the green lights light back up before dulling a bit; they still glowed though.

"What do you mean?"

"When I see the light… I just know." The lights glowed brightly, as if enjoying what he had to say. "I… I need that light in my life. Without it… I am incomplete."

"You think so?"

"I know so." He felt something in the air change, and then the glowing green lights had changed; they were no longer just lights.

They were eyes.

"Kendall," he whispered as the face that held the green glowing lights appeared. "You." Kendall didn't speak now, only stared, his eyes glowing still. "I need you. Not as just a friend… as my mate."

The last thing Logan saw was the bright glowing of Kendall's eyes before they faded out, leaving him in nothing but darkness.

Logan's eyes fluttered open then. Blinking a bit to clear his vision, he sat up and looked around.

He was still in his home, on his couch, and he could tell he was still alone.

Before, when he thought about being alone, he felt calm, at peace with himself.

But now… the thought about being alone made him ache for something he never thought he wanted before until now.

He was missing his mate.

Taking a deep breath, he still caught a slight hint of Kendall lingering in the house. The smell made him yearn for the blonde. Swinging quickly to his feet, he felt his resolve thicken.

He had to get to Kendall.

Kendall sat curled up on Carlos and James's couch, a blanket pulled around his shoulders. His head turned as he caught a whiff of something.

"Thought you might be thirsty," James said, holding a steaming mug out to Kendall, who took it in his hands; upon taking a deep breath, he was met with the scent of hot chocolate.

"Thanks," he murmured, making James nod as he sat next to him, cradling his own cup.

"I was never big on this stuff until Carlos begged me to try it."

"You'd do anything for him huh?" Kendall whispered, taking a sip of his own.

"Yep. He's my reason for living. Without him I'm… empty. Logan hasn't really told you anything about us has he?"

"No, not really. I think he was trying to spare me from the truth."

"Which was stupid. Want me to tell you?"

"Yeah, I'd like that."

"Ask away. I'll answer."

"Tell me about being mates."

"We'll do anything for each other. We all crave mates eventually. Without them… we go on living, like nothing but a shell of ourselves until we just kind of… fade away."

"Without them… we die?"

"No, we're not that lucky. We just lose the will to live without the actual pleasure of dying. Forever doomed to a life of lonely despair and pain."

"And you think I'm Logan's?"

"I know it. He looks at you the way I look at Carlos. Logan might not know it quite yet, but he will. And so will you."

"I don't want to be with him just because he thinks we're meant to be together. I want him to actually want me for me."

"Well, at first, he'll know you as his mate; it might take time for him to get to know you the way you want him to. But that's the good thing; forever gives you a long time to get to know each other." Kendall nodded and watched the dark liquid swirl around in his cup.

"You still love him."

"Yeah. But what I felt…feel, for Logan, is nothing compared to the passion I hold for Carlos." Kendall bit his lip as he debated his next question.

"What's it like, when you both know you're supposed to be mated?"

"Well… it's like… everything feels right. Every touch, every look, every minute is just… perfect. You know you two belong together and nothing can tear you apart, no matter what."

"Wow."

"Yeah. It's pretty… intense. You know you'd do anything for each other, and that your life is now complete as long as the other is with you."

"That sounds nice," Kendall murmured, drinking down the last dregs of his hot chocolate. James eyed him and then cocked his head slightly. "What?" James grinned and got up.

"Nothing. I think I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight Kendall."

"Night James. Thanks for the talk."

"Did it help?"

"Yeah, I think it did." James grinned and left the living room. Kendall curled up and was about to close his eyes when his hearing caught the faint knock at the front door. Getting up and opening it, he found Logan staring at him.

"Kendall." Kendall just shook his head and lunged at Logan, wrapping his arms around him.

"Logan."

Woo! Logan's realized it and Kendall is on his way.

Nothing bad can happen now, right?

We'll see, won't we?
