Chapter Ten- Spider King's Honey
"You do realize that it's break time, right?" Goten told Pan and Bulla. "It's the time for holidays and for us to relax before the next school year. So why are you two doing school work?" He raised a dark brow.
Pan glanced up from her work on the table and looked at her brother and Trunks. "Because Bulla and I are skipping a grade."
"You are?" Trunks raised a lavender eyebrow. He hadn't known that.
"Uh-Huh, Panny and I just decided to do it the other day," Bulla said with a nod. "I talked to Eomma about it and she pulled some strings. If we finish all this schoolwork in a months time and it comes back with perfect grades then we'll be first years starting in spring."
Trunks took a seat beside Pan and glanced over at her work. Her and Bulla both were smart girls, he knew they would have no problem finishing the work. "Why are you two skipping a grade?" He asked curiously.
"Are you trying to get out of school as soon as possible?" Goten snickered as he leaned against the table.
"No," Pan frowned. "Actually... were skipping a grade because of you two."
"Us?" Goten blinked in confusion.
"Yeah," Bulla glanced up at him. "You two will be third years starting this spring. If we're not first years then we won't be in the same building as you two."
"We just thought it would be nice for the four of us to be together since it would be your last year," Pan added.
Trunks and Goten shared a small look. The girls really had no idea just how much they had them wrapped around their fingers. Though there were times when they drives them crazy, there was plenty of times they were unbearably sweet.
"I'll help mom to make you girls some cookies for a snack," Goten said as he rushed off to the kitchen.
"And I'll help you with any questions," Trunks told them. He glanced at Pan and smiled, 'I definitely want you to be with me for my last year.'
She smiled back at him. 'Since you're helping me, I think I will be.'
It was a beautiful spring morning and he Son household was bustling. Chi-Chi was busy cooking a hearty breakfast at the stove as Goku walked in from his morning workout. He walked over to his wife and placed a loving kiss on her cheek.
"It's smells delicious, Chi," he told her.
"Thank you, Goku-sa," she beamed at him.
"Bulla!" A voice hissed from the backdoor. "Don't push me!"
"Then move out of my way!" Came Bulla's huff before she rushed inside the Son's home. She passed the kitchen, heading straight towards the stairs to go to Pan's room.
"Hey, Bu!" Goten greeted her as he passed her on the stairs. "Ready-?"
"Do I look ready?!" She cried to him.
"Yeah..." he muttered, but she was already up the stairs and in Pan's room before he finished.
"Morning," Bulma greeted as she walked in behind Trunks and shut the Son's backdoor.
"Morning Bulma," Goku greeted.
"Trunks!" Goten yelled as he stormed to the table. "Don't eat all the pancakes!"
"Too late," Trunks was cackling.
"Goten," Chi-Chi sighed as she handed a plate full of pancakes to Goku. "You act as if I don't feed you and your father daily. There's enough for everyone."
"You're the best, Mom!" Goten grinned as Goku walked towards the table with more pancakes.
Thirty minutes later, the girls were ready and bounced down the stairs. They ate quickly before brushing their teeth and then it was finally time for them to be heading to school.
Pan grabbed Trunks' hand and held it as he carried their bags. Beside her Bulla was updating her social media's and Goten was on the other side of her, snacking on an apple.
"I'm so excited," Bulla said with a small sigh. She linked arms with Pan and smiled. "Finally, we're high schoolers!"
"Mhm!" Pan nodded in excitement. Though she was happy to be a high schooler, she was a bit nervous. Her and Bulla has studied hard throughout the break so they could skip a grade and since they were skipping a grade, they were close to two years younger than everyone else in their grade.
Trunks squeezed her hand, as if sensing her nervousness and Pan smiled up at him. She knew he would be in the same building with her this coming year and the thought made her so happy. At least she would get to spend one high school year with Trunks.
"I'm ready for this year to be over with," Goten said as he stretched. "After this, we'll finally be done with school."
"What about college?" Bulla asked him. "Are you taking college classes this year like Trunks?"
"No," Goten shook his head. "I'm not into that mathematic-science stuff like Trunks is. I'm taking mechanical classes," he smiled.
"You two are going to be busy this year," Pan mumbled.
"Don't worry Panna, we'll still have time for you two," Trunks assured her.
"Yeah," Goten agreed. "You two worked so hard to be with us, we'll make sure we make plenty of memories."
Pan and Bulla shared a look, small grins stretching across their faces. They were ready to begin their high school career.
Pan glanced around the party room at the Brief's house in awe. Halloween decorations were strung up everywhere. There were fake cobwebs hanging in every corner and fake witches were hung from the ceiling. Bulma and her mother had really gone all out for the party. It was a Halloween / birthday bash for her and Trunks. Many people they went to school with was there as well as many of the older Z-Fighters.
"Pan! Bulla!" Marron grinned as she ran up to them.
"Look at us!" Bulla was beaming. "I'm so happy our outfits turned out this cute!" She was a dazzling butterfly. Her top was black with a tutu full of pinks, purples and blues. The wings on her back was bright pink and came down to cuffs on her wrists. When she held her arms out it really looked as if she had a giant pair of wings. She wore some black stockings with a pair of pink heels. Her blue hair was down straight with an adorable black headband that had antennas attached to it.
"We do make some pretty cute bugs," Marron giggled. She was a ladybug. Her top was a solid black with a fluffy red tutu that had black polka-dots on it. She wore a pair of black stockings with a pair of red ruby slippers. She had a cute pair of red wings on her back with black polka dots on it. Her blonde hair was curled with a black headband that had a pair of antennas sticking out of it.
"I really love the tutus," Pan smiled. She was a honeybee. Her top was black, just like the other girls and her tutu was a golden yellow with black strips. She wore black and yellow stripped leggings with a pair of black flats. She had a pair of adorable wings on her back. Her dark hair was parted and split into pigtails with yellow ribbons tying them up. She had on the same black headband with antennas on as well.
"Girls!" Goten ran up suddenly. He stuck a dramatic pose. "Guess who I am!"
Marron bit her lip to hold in her laughter. "The Great Saiyanman has made a comeback, I see..."
Bulla let out a loud huff and shook her head. "Goten, this is the third year in a row you've dressed up as that. Can't you be creative."
"Nice outfit," a voice chuckled and he group turned to see Gohan walking up.
"Awh, Gohan! You did dress up!" Pan beamed with excitement.
Gohan let out a small sigh and looked down at his police officer uniform. "Well, since it's my baby sister's birthday and she asked me to... I didn't really have a choice," he told Pan with a grin. "Goten," he grabbed his brother's cape, almost making him choke. "Mom needs us to move some stuff for her. I'll see you pretty bugs later!" He told the girls with a grin before dragging Goten away.
Marron stared after Gohan, her cheeks were a soft pink. Bulla nudged her with a grin and Pan was smiling at her.
"What?" Marron mumbled, her cheeks darkening even more.
"Oh honey!" A new voice suddenly laughed. Two arms wrapped around Pan's shoulders, causing her to squeak. "Looky here, a lil honeybee, Spider King's favorite meal!"
"Trunks!" Pan squirmed as she tried her best to not blush.
"I am the Spider King!" He cackled with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Well Spider King, let me go!" Pan huffed. "The cobwebs and spiders from your crown are freaking me out!"
"Hm," Trunks smirked. He leaned down and rested his chin on her shoulder. His head tilted slightly so the cobwebs brushed up against her cheeks.
"Trunks!" Pan whined.
"I guess that leaves me no choice then."
"W-What?" Pan's eyes widened slightly as she glanced at him.
His arctic blue eyes were filled with amusement. "I'm just going to have to tickle you then!" His hands grabbed her sides quickly.
"Trunks!" She shrieked with laughter as her head flew back. She managed to wiggle herself away from him before darting off through the crowd.
"Hey! Get back here, Panna-bee!" Trunks laughed as he took off after her.
"I saw it with my own eyes, but did he really dress up as a Spider King?" Marron glanced at Bulla.
"Yep," the girl nodded with a small smile.
"And let me guess, he did it just so he could chase Pan like he's doing now?"
"But of course," Bulla giggled. "Want to go get some punch and snacks?"
"Yes!" Marron nodded. "I've been wanting to check out the bloody punch," she told Bulla as they linked arms.
"Trunks, put me down!" Pan whined.
"Nope!" His arm secured her legs against his chest as her stomach rested on his shoulder. He was walking along a pathway in his backyard, going deeper into the forest. Not many knew of the path, but he did. "Not until you say it."
"You always make me say it," Pan rested her elbows on his back and rested her head in her hands. "You better not be messing up my wings."
"Don't worry, Panna-bee, I'm not. Are you going to say it?"
"Fine," she mumbled. "Trunks Vegeta Brief-"
"Make sure you say it loud enough for me to hear," Trunks grinned.
"If you'd stop talking, you'd be able to hear it just fine!" Pan told him before clearing her throat. "Is the most-"
"Hey! Start from the beginning!"
"If you don't stop cutting me off then I won't say it!"
"If you don't say it then I'll just keep holding you," he snickered. "I don't care."
Pan let out a small groan and pouted. "Trunks Vegeta Brief is the most handsome, intelligent, bravest and strongest guy around. All the girls want him and all the guys want to be him, but no one can compare to his otherworldly and sometimes weird charm-" she let out a small yelp as Trunks tilted her up some like he was going to drop her off his back.
Trunks laughed and pulled Pan down so she was facing him. Her cheeks grew pink as she locked her legs around around his waist and her arms around his neck.
"Do continue," Trunks said.
"He's arrogant, conceited, almost always smirking and he acts just like his Appa-"
"I act nothing like Appa!" Trunks huffed with a pout.
Pan just giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck tighter so she could hug him. "But he's also kind, sweet and so warm... He always knows just what to do to make me feel better and I love him."
And she did... She loved him ways she couldn't even describe.
Trunks stopped walking and held her tightly. "I love you too." Gently, he sat her down. "Come up here with me," he said, pulling her towards the tree.
"Huh?" Pan blinked.
"Come on," he grinned. "I want to show you something."
Pan followed him up the tree before he stopped at a thick branch. He sat her down near the trunk before sitting on the edge.
"Look," he glanced up.
She followed his gaze and gasped. Fireflies were buzzing around lazily. Their slow blinking bodies mixing in with the stars up above them.
"It's beautiful..." Pan told Trunks.
He smiled fondly as he watched her. Without saying a word he took off his crown and placed it on her head, causing her to blink at him in confusion. "Such a cute honeybee," he moved some hair out of her face, causing her cheeks to stain a dark red. "I can't find it within myself to eat you," he grinned. "I'm just going to have to keep you as my queen."
The night was quite, but Pan was certain Trunks could hear her heart pounding in her chest. Kami knew that was the only thing she could hear at the moment.
