Hey everyone, I'm so sorry for not updating sooner but I got a bit of writers block. Anyway I started another story The Life of Jessica Carter which is a Captain America story, so please check that out. I've actually got some ideas for a Merlin story but I decided I should finish this one first. So as always please R&R.

Molly POV

Molly clung tightly to Charles as he looked around questioningly. In the five minutes since the plane had landed so much had happened. Molly had flung herself on Sam and Charles, Bashira and Qaseem had walked shakily off the plane, and Geddings, Katy and the rest of the section had followed after them carrying bags and equipment between them.

"What happened?" Charles repeated looking at Molly, whose face was covered in dirt and hair was messy and all over the place.

"It wasn't quite as simple as we thought." Molly answered quietly. She looked up at the rest of the section, they all seemed very fragged; the images of the past couple of days burned into their memories.

2 days ago in Afghan

"Ok people listen up, we've just received word that our position has been compromised. We can't afford to waste any time here. So here's what we're going to do..." Geddings gave out his orders sternly. He sent some guys out to do a perimeter patrol, a couple more to coordinate with HQ in Bastion and organise an escape plan. And finally he sent Katy and Molly to hep Qaseem get Bashira ready to move.

Molly walked back into Bashira's room a look of determinism about her. She began grabbing the necessities and shoving them in the bag Bashira would carry. Katy stood in the door watching Molly working silently. Bashira sat up in her bed the fear evident in her eyes as the followed Molly's movements round the room.

"Don't worry hun," Molly said to Bashira, "We'll get you out of this everything will be ok. There ain't no way any of them is gonna get you. Not if I has anything to do with it."

"But what if they do get me?" Bashira asked her voice audibly shaking.

"They won't, we're gonna make sure of that. They ain't gonna wanna mess with me."

"Where will I have to go now?"

"I don't know yet. C'mon give me a hand, grab some of the stuff you wanna take."

Bashira scrambled quickly from the bed and retrieved a few things from shelves and drawers. Before long the bag was packed and Molly had cheered Bashira up, all the while Katy had been stood in the doorway trying to figure out how the rough West Ham supporter had suddenly become such a gentle person. A mere thirty minutes later the section had assembled in the front hall of the building, Geddings was informing everyone of how they were going to have to make their way to the city centre where an armoured vehicle would be waiting to take them safely back to Bastion.

But the minute the set foot outside the building all hell broke loss. Gunfire rained down on them from above at all angles. Looking up Molly could see gunman stood on the roofs of neighbouring buildings.

Geddings ordered the group to find cover and return fire. Molly grabbed Bashira and pushed her into a door way before backing in herself and raising her gun to aim at the gunman on the top of the roof. But as she did so she saw the man pull a small oval object from his pocket.

"GRENADE!" Molly screeched at the top of her lungs just in time for everyone to dive behind cover as the man threw the bomb down onto the street, successfully destroying the front of the building they had just left, ensuring that they would have no secure cover to regroup.

Molly could hear the screams over the comms, the section sounded panicked and unsure of how to react.

"Return fire."

"Draw back, regroup."

"No, stay down, stick to the plan. Move forward. Two at a time." Geddings ordered over the voices on the comms.

"Dawes! Take the girl and move."

Molly grabbed Bashira and ran towards the end of the street, half way down Qaseem appeared providing a shower of bullets as cover. Bashira remained silent with fear as Molly half dragged and half carried her towards the rest of the section.

"Keep moving." Geddings yelled as everyone finally regrouped. Molly worked her way to the middle of the group, surrounding Bashira with a circle of protection. It was in this circle formation that the group shuffled along the streets towards the city centre.

Just a short walk from the centre was when things really went wrong. a grenade was thrown at the group, one of the guys saw it and broke the circle allowing for Bashira to be a clear target for the snipers. Staples saw the bullet headed straight for Bashira's head and jumped in front.

Bashira screamed.

Qaseem whirled round and shot the sniper.

Katy caught Staples as he fell to the ground.

"MAN DOWN!" Molly yelled at the section.

"Get to cover." Geddings yelled over the commotion.

They huddled into a small abandoned building, two of the guys broke off to secure the area whilst Molly bent down and begun inspecting Staples' wound. It was a clean shot to the upper arm, the bullet had torn straight through the flesh. There was so much blood pouring from the wound, it completely covered her gloved hands and gushed down into pools on the floor. Molly tied a tourniquet at the top of his arm to stop the bleeding before carefully putting pressure on the wound and then packing and bandaging it. Katy radioed in for a med evac but the guys in HQ said there was no way Staples could get medical attention unless he reached the rendezvous point.

"Oi, Geddings," Molly called, "What the hell is the plan here. Staples ain't gonna be able to move his arm. How we gonna get to the centre... without getting everybody killed?"

"We're gonna have to split into groups. Two at either side of the street the other back to back going down the middle. We need to cover all angles. Ok?"

"Where's Bashira gonna go?

"Middle group."

"I wanna go with her."

"Why?"

"Cos this is my fault."

"How?"

"I was the one that got involved in her family in the first place, I'm the one that said she needed to be put in care. I gotta make sure I ain't completely ruin her life."

"Fine." Geddings said looking serious, "But Dawes don't let your emotions cloud your judgement."

"Got it." Molly said as she walked away.

"Boss," One of the guys said. "We need to get going the snipers could be on us at any minute."

"Right, come on guys. Move out."

The group left the building split into their smaller sections and began once more to advance down the street. Bashira was so close to Molly that Molly could almost hear the pounding of the little girl's heart.

The last bit of the journey was tense but nothing happened. The section reached the armoured vehicles and exhausted they hauled themselves in one by one. Molly sat next to a shaking Bashira as they travelled steadily towards the safety of Camp Bastion. As they travelled Molly looked at the faces of the section, they were all still alert, hands on their guns and ears listening carefully for any sound of disturbance outside.

It was with relief that Molly finally climbed of the vehicle inside Bastion. She rushed Staples over to the hospital where a nurse was waiting for him. When Molly got back to the section Geddings appeared to be explaining something.

"Ahh Dawes, how's Staples?"

"He'll be ok. Nurse is dealing with him. What's going on?"

"We're going to fly straight back to the training base rather than Brize Norton. HQ don't want to take any risks with Bashira. We live in fifteen minutes."

"What about Staples?"

"He'll have to fly to Brize, most casualties have to be seen by the doctors there. Before they get sent to a hospital in Birmingham."

"Oh." Molly said her mind turning to her lost friend. Staples' wound was so similar to Smurfs. They both had been shot in the arm. She thought about how both Smurf and Charles had spent weeks in Birmingham after they'd been shot in Afghan. Staples will be ok, she tried to reassure herself as everyone began to head for the plan that would fly them back to the UK.

Sitting on the plane Molly went over the events of the past two days in her head. Seeing Bashira again. Trying desperately to protect her from the shower of bullets. Staples saving Bashira from being shot. Blood, so much of Staples' blood. Molly looked at her hands, she could still see the image of her hands covered in his blood. The plane landed a little bumpily on the tarmac, Molly was the first one out. And the sight she saw was one of the best, little Sam smiling as he raced towards her, and Charles following quickly behind Sam a grin plastered on his face.

So it's 1am and I've just finished, honestly I'm so tired and I don't know how good this really is. So please I'd appreciate it if you R&R. thanks for being so patient with me guys xem98x
