Chapter 10
Buffy had slept longer than even Alice had expected, but she figured it was probably for the best as the woman had had a couple of rough shocks yesterday.
Alice had been content just watching over her mate.
She had stayed by Buffy's side the entire night.
Though a few times she had had to fight not to laugh out loud at the faces the slayer made in her sleep.
Buffy looked so peaceful in her sleep, Alice just wished she knew if their night had actually helped the slayer relax.
It was nearing noon when the blonde started to stir and the rumbles she could already hear from the woman's stomach told her what the first order of business for the day would be.
Alice smiled, the slayer almost always seemed to be hungry, even when she wasn't awake yet.
She briefly considered making a run to town to get food for her mate before the woman woke, but she really didn't want to risk Buffy waking before she could get back, or worse, Edward visiting the house and finding her there.
It would be best just to wait till she woke and then take her out to get food.
A few minutes later the blonde stretched, her arms going around the vampire's waist as she did so, and she nuzzled her face into Alice's stomach.
Something must have felt off to her, because a moment later she opened her eyes and Alice had to laugh at the look of surprise on the woman's face.
After a moment Buffy sat up, trying to smooth her hair down a bit.
"I really don't mean to keep treating you like a teddy bear, it's just , sleeping me is a cuddle fiend, apparently".
Alice grinned "What makes you think I mind?" she countered.
Buffy was just too adorable for her own good Alice thought.
"I don't know, just doesn't seem like it could be comfortable to stay in one position all night just so you don't wake me".
The slayer gave a half shrug and an adorable crooked smile.
"Buffy" Alice said, bringing a hand up to cup the woman's cheek.
"There isn't any place more comfortable than touching you, even when it means just sitting still and watching you sleep".
She laid a chaste kiss on Buffy's lips and then got to her feet.
"Now then, shall we go get some breakfast?" she asked just as the blonde's stomach began to grumble.
Buffy just nodded, a flush decorating her cheeks and half way down her neck, and went to get her shoes on.
Alice waited patiently, deciding that maybe they should take her car today, as she was in the mood for speed, she just hoped her mate could handle it.
Once they were in the car and pulling out onto the road Alice glanced sideways at Buffy to make sure she was wearing her seat belt, and then waited a few extra moments because the blonde was fiddling with the radio.
When Highway to Hell came into tune the slayer turned up the volume and sat back.
"Everyone's gotta go sometime, right?" the slayer quipped.
"Buffy, you are not going to die here".
She gave the woman's hand a small squeeze and then she floored the gas peddle.
It would be better if Buffy got used to Alice's style of driving sooner rather than later, right?, she thought.
Out of the corner of her eye she could just see the slayer grabbing onto the door handle as she pushed the car past eighty and kept going.
She just hoped Buffy didn't break the handle, she knew how strong the woman was.
Before she really thought of where they might be going for breakfast they were racing past the town boundaries and headed in the direction of Port Angeles.
She hadn't planned on going that far, but maybe getting Buffy away from Forks, and her watcher, for a bit, would be good for both of them.
It was a good ten minutes after they passed the town limits before Buffy realized that they weren't in Forks anymore, but, in her defense, Buffy was new to Forks.
"Uh, Alice? Where are we going?" the blonde asked, confusion evident in her tone.
"Port Angeles. It's not far, and there are more restaurant choices than in Forks"
Alice answered smoothly.
It was only partially a lie, it should have been an hour and a half drive, but the way she was going they would be there in less than an hour.
She caught Buffy peeking at the speedometer, just before the woman replied.
"At this rate I don't think Sunnydale would be that far".
Alice bit the inside of her cheek for a moment.
"I like fast Buffy. Does it bother you?".
She wasn't even sure what answer she was hoping for from the slayer, if the woman liked fast as much as Alice herself it would make her worry for her mate's mortality, if she didn't it would make her feel bad for potentially scaring the woman.
Almost as if she had read Alice's mind the slayer responded.
"I wouldn't drive like this myself, but I'm trusting that you know what you're doing and can handle the car at top speed".
Alice smiled and gave a little hum of pleasure at her mate's faith in her.
"I can, if there was even the smallest chance of me wreaking I wouldn't drive this fast with you in the car".
Buffy made a small sound "And what about you?"
The vampire winced internally realizing how her previous statement must have sounded.
"I'm not so easily hurt" she said simply.
She just hoped the blonde wouldn't take it as a slight to her formidable strength.
Buffy's POV
She could see what Alice was getting at, the simple fact that a car accident wouldn't kill her, hell, it likely wouldn't even slow her down much, but Buffy still didn't like the idea that the vampire might be careless with her own safety.
"I'm not sure that answer is enough. I mean, I get that you are almost indestructible and a wreak wouldn't hurt you much, but . . ."
She trailed off, unsure of how to finish the sentence in a way didn't sound insanely clingy.
Alice slowed their speed a fraction and Buffy took it as a sign that the vampire was really listening to her words.
Finally she decided to just go with the truth.
"I don't like the thought of you being so careless with yourself"
She said it quietly, almost a whisper, but she knew the vampire's keen hearing would pick up her words just fine.
After that Buffy couldn't bring herself to meet Alice's gaze, so she didn't see the way the woman's eyes widened in surprise or the fact that she opened her mouth and was completely speechless for once.
Alice finally spoke as they neared Port Angeles.
"I'm sorry, I'll try to keep that in mind".
Buffy didn't reply, as far as she was concerned they had said all they needed to on the subject and anything else seemed likely to start an argument.
Alice slowed the car till they were just over the posted speed limit once they were in the city and began looking at the places they passed, presumably for a restaurant that looked decent.
When Alice parked the car Buffy looked up to see where they were.
She wasn't sure what she had been expecting, but it surely wasn't the small homey looking diner that went by the name of The Sparrow's Nest.
The blonde follows Alice inside and to a table near the back and after just a moment a middle aged woman in an apron comes over to get their order.
To Buffy's great surprise, Alice takes the initiative and orders first, only smiling at Buffy when she catches the blonde's wide green eyes.
She quickly schools her expression before the waitress turns to get her order.
Only when the woman has moved away from them does Buffy lean in and ask the question that's on her mind.
"Are you actually going to eat? I mean, can you eat, you know, solid foods?".
Alice smirked at her, amused.
"No, I'm not going to eat. I could if I forced myself, but it would only make me sick. But with a little slight of hand no one will notice that you eat twice as much. And it would seem weird if I didn't look like I'm eating".
Well, that answered that question.
But hot on its heels came another, the vampires back home could drink things other than blood if they wanted to, could the Cullens?
"Do you drink anything besides . . .?"
She asks the question as softly as she can, trailing off at the end because she really can't think of a way to say that without it sounding rude.
Alice shook her head gently in response.
"Same as food, it would make me sick".
Buffy frowned slightly, she really didn't know what to say to that.
As if she could sense the direction of Buffy's thoughts Alice reached out and covered her hand lightly with her slightly cooler one.
"I'm sorry. That probably sounded less rude in my head".
The slayer said apologetically with a wince.
"Don't worry about it Buffy. I know it's a lot to get used to, and you're probably not even sure about it yet".
The brunette was saying all the right things, but there was something that just sounded off in her voice.
"Wait, what do you mean about me not being sure yet? Sure about what?"
She asked, even as she realized that the something off in Alice's voice was a pain the woman was trying, and failing, to hide from her.
"It's okay. I know it's a lot to decide. At least you didn't have to get used to the whole idea of vampires existing in the first place, on top of everything else, like Bella did".
Alice had looked down at the table when Buffy asked the question and had refused to look back up at her through the whole thing.
Now however Buffy knew for sure what was going on with the petite brunette.
Alice somehow still thought that she was going to walk away from her once Edward had been dealt with.
"Alice, look at me. Please?" the blonde said softly but firmly.
It took a moment, but the vampire finally met her gaze, pain shimmering in the amber depths across from her.
Buffy licked her lips, she really didn't want to screw this up so she had to choose her words carefully.
"I don't know what will happen here, I can't see the future. But there is one thing I know right now. I want you around, I want to give us the best shot, I want to be a part of your life, for as long as I can be".
She paused to catch her breath and see how Alice was taking her little speech before continuing.
"I don't know how we'll work things out, or even if I'll survive this fight. But, somehow, when I'm with you it just feels like it will all be okay."
She was deliberately avoiding the L word right now, it was just way too soon to say that, even if she was pretty sure she was feeling it.
She squeezed the vampire's hand gently, the knot of worry in her chest loosening only when Alice returned the squeeze.
"I don't know how things will turn out either. I mean, I can see most things in the future but something about you blocks my abilities, so I can't see much about you. I just know what I want, and that's to be with you, for as long as you'll have me".
Alice's thumb was tracing across the back of her hand as the brunette spoke, the gentleness of the act speaking far louder than Alice's words to how much the vampire loved her already.
It was as she ate, and Alice used her speed to slip her food onto Buffy's plate, that she realized something very important.
She didn't want to die.
Buffy had stared down death more times than she could count, it was a basic requirement of the job, but this time it was different, this time there was someone counting on her surviving, someone that made her want, no, need, to survive.
Even Dawn had never held that place for her, she knew her sister would be okay, would be well taken care of, if she died.
Alice was different.
With the vampire it wasn't just a case of knowing she wouldn't be alone if Buffy died, Buffy wanted, needed, to be the one to be there with and for her.
She wanted to wake up to golden eyes and sharp, slightly dangerous kisses, and not just tomorrow or the day after, but quite possibly for the rest of her life.
Now she just needed to figure out how to survive the fight with Edward.
And tell Alice she loved her.
Yeah, cause doing those things would be just so easy she thought with a mental snort.
Later, on the drive back to Forks, Buffy remembered that she hadn't really asked what they would be doing for the day, and she was wearing borrowed clothes.
"So, what exactly did you have in mind for today? And does it include getting me back to my motel room for clothes? Preferably a bra of mine".
If she hadn't been looking directly at the vampire she would have missed the little smirk that curved her lips, apparently Alice had not forgotten her current bra-less state the way Buffy had.
"I thought we'd drop by the house, then the motel, and head over to the gym when you were ready" Alice answered her.
Buffy couldn't quite figure out the vampire's abrupt about face, but decided that she wasn't going to question it.
Their stops at the house and the motel went quickly as each of them knew just what they wanted and needed to do, and it wasn't long before they were back in the barn turned gym where it had all started between them.
Buffy strode purposefully to the center of the mat and began stretching to warm up.
When Alice didn't follow she looked back at the brunette in confusion.
"Aren't we sparring today?"
Alice had settled herself on a bench next to the wall and was in the act of pulling one of her ancient books into her lap.
"We are, but not till a little later. I would like to watch you go through your normal routine alone for a bit, maybe I'll find a clue in watching you".
When she put it like that Buffy couldn't really find a reason to deny Alice's request.
"Okay, sure" was all she said before turning back to the mat and her normal practice routines.
Every now and then she would glance over at the brunette, sitting quietly with her book, and sometimes the vampire would smile encouragement at her from her spot on the bench.
The afternoon wore on and Buffy kept at it while Alice continued to read.
And just when the slayer was ready to ask about when the vampire intended to join her Alice laid the book aside and stood up to stretch.
Buffy didn't even realize how avidly she had been watching the other woman stretch, until Alice looked right at her, and smirked.
She felt the heat of embarrassment flood her cheeks over being caught staring so hungrily at her girlfriend and didn't look up till the woman was standing right in front of her.
Had she been watching as Alice approached her she might have seen the kiss coming.
As it was, she looked up just as Alice captured her chin and brought their lips together in a soft lingering dance of passion.
When they pulled apart Buffy sucked in a quick breath and exhaled a soft "wow".
It might have seemed crazy because they hadn't known each other for very long, but up till that point she had never known that love could literally leave you breathless with wonder, she had always just assumed that it was only an expression.
That was the reason she gave herself for why her sparring was seriously off for the first few minutes, resulting in her landing on her butt on the mat only moments into their match.
Round after round, they went at it, with Buffy barely managing to brush against Alice as the vampire was using every bit of her preternatural speed to stay ahead of the slayer.
Buffy was trying to keep up her spirits, but it was hard when she kept remembering that Alice had told her on the first day that Edward was faster than she was.
After a few hours of sparring the blonde finally stepped back and held up her hands in surrender.
It was clear she wouldn't be beating Alice, and by extension Edward, today.
The vampire cocked her head at Buffy's uncharacteristic show of giving up, but she didn't comment on it.
The two of them left the gym a few minutes later, hand in hand.
It was strange, the blonde thought, flying unnerved her because she was giving up control of the situation to someone else, and yet here she was giving it over to the vampire without a second thought, and she was completely at ease with it.
It was as she mulled that detail over in her head that Buffy realized that it wasn't just that she trusted Alice, though she certainly did, there was far more to this thing between them than that.
She was beginning to fall for the sassy brunette, seriously fall for her.
When they got to the motel Alice followed her inside and shut the door behind them.
"So I was planning to jump in the shower, then maybe go grab some dinner and vegg in front of the tv. What did you have in mind for tonight?".
She said it casually, almost carelessly, even though she knew what she wanted to happen.
The vampire licked her lips and Buffy's eyes followed the move unconsciously.
"Well, I need to go for a bit, take care of something, but I could come back later? Bring you dinner when I do?".
Alice left it a question, giving the blonde the choice of having the night to herself if she wanted.
"Sure, I'd like that. What do you need to take care of?" she replied easily.
The vampire looked away for a moment before answering her.
"You're not the only one who needs dinner" she said softly.
"Oh, uh, sorry" Buffy stammered.
Alice offered her a gentle smile.
"Don't be. Like I tell my sister in law all the time, it's a normal part of what we are".
The slayer frowned slightly.
"Why would you need to remind her of that?".
The vampire's face twisted into a wry expression.
"Well, for one thing, she's new to this life, for another, she feels guilty about having to leave her daughter's side to feed".
"Wow. So, um, the little girl doesn't, you know, need it too?".
There was something she hadn't thought about, but now that she was it made her more than a touch uncomfortable.
"Renesme doesn't need blood, but she can, and does drink it occasionally" Alice shrugged.
"She's half vampire, for now, though we understand that she will be a full vamp once she matures completely".
Buffy had read about Renesme in the dossier, but even now she couldn't really wrap her head around the idea of a half vampire child.
To be honest, the idea kinda creeped her out, she had dealt with vampire children before, full vampires that is, and they were some of the things that haunted her the worst.
Some of her thoughts must have shown on her face, because Alice's eyes widened and she spoke up with the slayer voicing anything.
"She's really a sweet child, and she wouldn't hurt a soul. I think you'll like her once you get to know her Buffy. And I know she'll like you".
Buffy shuffled her feet and tried not to make a face at the vampire's insistence that she would like the child.
"Ok, when this is all done you can introduce us" she said, not forgetting that there was a chance she wouldn't make it.
Alice narrowed her eyes as if to warn the slayer not to bring up that thought again, but then just changed the subject.
"So what would you like me to bring you when I come back?"
Buffy started to simply shrug because she hadn't actually thought about what she wanted for dinner, but sudden inspiration hit her and she knew what she wanted.
"A couple of bacon cheeseburgers, chilli cheese fries, and onion rings, and a chocolate shake".
The moment she the thought of it hit her she had known that nothing else would quite hit the spot tonight.
The pixie like vampire chuckled at her choice.
"Greasy spoon special huh?, if I actually ate food, that would sound pretty good".
She shrugged, as if it didn't matter, but Buffy wondered if maybe the vampire wished she could eat solid food sometimes.
And then Alice was pulling her close for a toe curling kiss and Buffy forgot all about her silent musings.
"See you later" the vampire murmured as she turned and left the motel room, leaving the slayer staring after her like she couldn't remember her own name let alone what she had intended to do next.
Alice's POV
The brunette strolled casually out of the parking lot till she was sure that she couldn't be seen anymore, then she put on a burst of speed and headed for the woods.
She really didn't want to leave her mate's side, but the woman's neck was looking a little too tempting, and with the knowledge that a bite might be the key to Buffy's survival, Alice didn't want to risk it.
She knew she was getting clingy and possessive, but it was part of the whole mate deal, and she really didn't know what to do about it.
She could only hope Buffy would be understanding about it.
Racing through the woods towards her favorite hunting grounds made her feel both anxious and free at the same time.
She would have loved to have had the blonde by her side, but she wasn't sure if she was ready for the woman to see her feeding, even if she only ever drank from animals.
Once she crossed the river into the secluded area that the Cullens thought of as their private hunting grounds she caught the scent of another vampire, Emmet had been through here recently, which meant she would likely find a bear carcass somewhere nearby.
It seemed like it had been weeks since she saw most of her family.
Ever since Edward went mad she had been hiding out at the safe house, while Emmet, Rosalie, and Carlisle tracked Edward and tried to keep him away from more populated areas of town so that he wouldn't be tempted to kill more innocent humans.
It was a damn good thing none of them actually needed sleep, or things in Forks would have been a hell of a lot worse.
Alice just wished she could be with her family, what was left of it anyway.
This whole mess with Edward just had to end, hopefully soon.
It didn't take the brunette long to spot what she wanted, a pair of fat lynx' lounging on a rock half a mile away.
They wouldn't even see her coming.
When she stopped at the house to shower before going back to the motel she was hoping for a note or message of some kind from Emmet or Carlisle, but there was no sign that either had been there since she and Buffy had left that morning.
Alice shook herself out of her thoughts, though not without considerable effort, and finally went to shower off the rest of the day.
She still had to find a way to tell Buffy about the chance she had found in Carlisle's book.
Buffy was good, and she was fast and strong, more so than any human Alice had ever encountered before.
But she knew that Edward was absolutely deadly in his speed.
Once she was standing under the hot spray she did her best to let the water wash away the worries of the day, instead, reminding herself that in short while she would be back with her mate.
Thoughts of the blonde, and how she had already taken to sleeping wrapped around Alice finally helped her ease the tension from her shoulders and allowed her to enjoy the remainder of her shower.
The vampire raced through the woods, skirting the edge of town and heading for a diner that she hoped would have what Buffy had asked her to bring her for dinner.
The addition of the food and chocolate shake forced the brunette to go slower than she would have liked after she left the diner, but at least the motel wasn't too much farther now.
If she was careful she ought to make it before the food had a chance to cool.
She could hear the sound of the tv when she stepped up to the door and knocked.
It sounded like some mindless sitcom, that was a good sign, hopefully it meant that Buffy hadn't been doing any heavy thinking while she had been away.
When the blonde answered the door, the smile that spread across her face was so warm and genuine that Alice felt her own face stretch in an answering grin.
Buffy took a step back and the brunette slipped inside and quickly set down the food.
And it was a good thing she was quick, because only moments after Buffy's dinner was out of her hands, Alice found herself being pushed up against the wall and kissed soundly, as if the slayer were starving for the taste of her even though it had only been a couple of hours since they had parted.
"Mmm, if I had known you would react this way to me getting back I would have hurried back quicker" Alice purred as they pulled away from the kiss.
The blonde smirked.
"Maybe I was just really hungry" Buffy said as she skirted around Alice and took a seat at the table to dig into her food.
"You! You are such a tease" the vampire squawked indignantly.
At that Buffy's gaze jerked up to meet Alice's.
"A tease?! Once I finish eating I will show you just how much of a tease I am babe".
The heat behind the words made Alice lick her suddenly dry lips in eager anticipation.
The slayer was already turning back to her meal, opening styrofoam containers, and humming her approval at what she found, and so she didn't see the look on Alice's face.
That might be a good thing Alice thought, as the look on her face was intense, focused and full of hope for a future that Buffy wasn't even sure would happen yet.
To occupy herself while the blonde ate, Alice grabbed Carlisle's book and began leafing through it skimming random pages in the hope that she might have missed something, even though she knew she hadn't.
Inevitably, she ended up back on the same entry she had been thinking about almost constantly for the last couple of days.
Soon she fell to just staring at the words till they blurred on the page before her, not realizing that she wasn't moving, not even to blink.
Not till Buffy crawled across the bed to kneel beside her, that is.
After just a moment Alice looked up into a pair of gorgeous green eyes and smiled.
"Hey, you okay? You looked a little lost in thought there" the slayer said softly.
Alice lifted her hand to caress Buffy's cheek before threading her fingers into the other woman's hair and using it to pull her closer for a kiss.
"I'm fine, just thinking".
Her lips quirked up in a mischievous grin.
"I believe you were saying something before about not being a tease?" she prompted the blonde.
"I was, but you seem to be a bit busy" Buffy replied easily, glancing down at the book still open on Alice's lap.
The vampire had the book closed and on the nightstand before almost Buffy could even finish the sentence.
"Much better" Buffy purred as she settled herself astride the brunette's lap.
"Definitely better" Alice agreed, sliding her arms around the blonde's waist.
With some wiggling and a few laughs Buffy settled her body closer, so that they were completely pressed together and kissed Alice's neck making her moan a little.
"Just one problem. We're both over-dressed" the vampire whispered breathily.
That had the blonde scooting back a bit so that she could pull her shirt off over her head.
Alice had to bite her lip to hold back the little noise of approval that wanted to escape her as she saw that the blonde was wearing another little see through lace bra.
The next thought in her head was that she hoped the panties matched the bra, because damn that was just so hot.
Then Buffy was tugging at the hem of her shirt and Alice couldn't get it off fast enough, at least not without ripping it.
Once it was off she couldn't help the smug smile that tugged at her lips from the sound of deep arousal that her mate had made.
Alice had known it was fairly likely that they would make love that night, and she had dressed with a mind to driving Buffy just a little over the edge, wearing her sexiest set of underthings, they were a gauzy dark blue with a few discreet rhinestones and bits of embroidery, they were also almost completely sheer.
The blonde skimmed her hands up Alice's sides till they were just under her breasts, and then she began to tease the sensitive undersides with her thumbs, all the while just smiling at her.
Alice, however, wasn't really in a teasing mood.
Quickly she rolled them, reversing their positions so that Buffy lay on her back with Alice cradled between her thighs.
"Mmm, right where I want to be" the vampire murmured as she leaned in to press a kiss to the swell of Buffy's breast.
"Um, not that I'm complaining, but I thought I was supposed to be proving I'm not a tease. Hard to do that if you're the one doing all the doing".
"Maybe you should have thought of that before you started in on my neck" Alice replied huskily.
Buffy's green eyes widened almost comically before she stuttered.
"Is . . is that a vampire thing?".
Alice could see where that might be a horrible irony if it were true, but it wasn't, it was just part of her.
"No, it's a me thing" she answered honestly.
Then she licked a long wet trail across the blonde's chest till she shivered.
Meanwhile, Alice's hands were already undoing the button and zipper of both their pants.
Crawling backwards on her knees she leans forward and grabs Buffy's pants, pulling them off of her in one long continuous move.
She could actually feel her eyes darken at the sight of matching, white lace panties.
With vampire speed she rolls onto her back and sheds her pants before moving back to her spot between Buffy's legs.
She heard, as well as felt, the purr of approval at her choice of underwear, and bent to take full advantage of the woman's lips once more.
As they kissed, tongues dueling, she felt the slayer's hands latch onto her ass, trying to get them as close as possible.
Alice ground her body against Buffy's and tasted the blonde's low moan at the friction between them.
The brunette reached around and easily unfastened the slayer's bra, sliding it down the woman's arms and tossing it to the side before moving lower with her kisses.
Taking one of the blonde's nipples into her mouth she sucked and teased it with her tongue while running her hands up and down Buffy's thighs.
Oh so gently Alice scrapped her teeth over Buffy's nipple, causing the woman to arch against her and draw in a shaky breath.
When she slipped her hand into the blonde's panties she found out just how close to the edge she really was.
Buffy was already dripping wet and the lightest of caresses had the woman crying out her name in a breathless plea for more.
She sat back on her heels for a moment and eased the lacy panties off her mate before cupping the woman's mound again.
Buffy wouldn't last long, not with how wound up she was already, but Alice wanted the blonde to come against her mouth, so she would have to go carefully.
Slowly, lightly, she traces a finger along the seam of Buffy's lower lips, while teasingly licking and blowing cool air over her nipples.
Once both of Buffy's nipples are peaked to the point of aching sensitivity Alice scoots lower, going for the main course.
The first stroke of her tongue along the route her finger had previously taken earns her a sharp cry of "Please!" from the blonde.
Alice paused to look up and enjoy the view of her lover caught in the throes of pleasure for a moment before lowering her face back to the woman's sex once more.
She slips her tongue between the folds and allows herself a tiny moan at the taste of her mate's arousal, she could easily drink that taste in forever.
Buffy's hips buck upwards, urging her on, and Alice eagerly obeys.
Grabbing hold of the woman's thighs to steady her the brunette licks from the bottom of her mate's slit to the top, curling her tongue over and around the blonde's clit at the end.
As she dips back down to thrust her tongue into Buffy's entrance she feels the woman's hands tunnel into her hair and grip tight holding her against the woman's sex, as if she had any intention of stopping.
Buffy moans and whimpers with every tiny move of the brunette's tongue against her sex and the sounds alone are almost enough to make Alice come, just knowing how much pleasure her mate is feeling.
Pressing closer, she uses her nose to rub against the blonde's clit while her tongue swirls inside, teasing along Buffy's inner walls and flicking over the woman's G-spot.
God, the woman's grip on her hair was strong, and the small bite of pain was turning Alice on as much as the noises Buffy was making.
Wrapping one arm over the blonde's leg she used her fingers to part the soft, slick lips before her and then began circling her clit with firm strokes of her tongue.
She knew Buffy was getting close, the hand that wasn't fisted in Alice's hair was twisted tight in the sheets beside her hip.
Taking her hand off Buffy's thigh Alice slowly teased the woman's entrance with just the tips of two fingers, as she did so the slayer's back arched off the bed and she let out a long moan.
Glancing up the slayer's body she could see the muscles corded tight and straining as the woman's body begged silently for release.
With a smirk she refocused her efforts, finally easing her fingers into the blonde while beginning to suck gently on the woman's clit.
Slowly at first Alice pumps her fingers into the wet heat of her mate's core, feeling the inner muscles already begin to clench around her.
Alternating licking and sucking at Buffy's clit had the woman almost screaming within moments.
Then she slowed her fingers till they were only resting inside her lover and flexed them, right over the blonde's g-spot and she did scream then.
Knowing she has the woman now Alice keeps stroking over her g-spot and sucking on her clit till Buffy arches off the bed once again, screaming her name and clamping down around Alice's fingers as her orgasm tears through her.
Alice continues licking gently, lapping up all of the blonde's juices and helping her to ride out the orgasm.
Only when Buffy sagged against the mattress did Alice stop and crawl up to lay beside her and hold her.
When Buffy opened her eyes the look of annoyance that flashed through the green depths had Alice confused for a moment, till the woman spoke, her voice thick with sleepy contentment.
"You're still dressed. If you're gonna cuddle me, do it right" she mumbled.
Alice giggled, she couldn't help it, Buffy was just so cute sometimes.
"And naked is the only right way to cuddle?" Alice teased.
"It is after you just made me come my brains out" Buffy replied with a satisfied smirk.
Alice laughed again before getting up and quickly taking off her bra and panties.
When she slipped back into the bed Buffy wasted no time in wrapping herself around the brunette and cuddling as close as she could.
They lay together quietly for a bit just enjoying the skin to skin contact.
Then Alice's gaze landed on the book she had laid on the nightstand just before they started, and she wondered if maybe now was a good time to bring up the entry about the man who hadn't died from being bitten.
Buffy was plenty relaxed, and Alice knew the slayer trusted her, maybe even loved her.
But just as Alice opened her mouth to mention what she had read a slight sound escaped the slayer's lips, it was the softest of snores, the slayer was asleep.
Shaking her head Alice stroked a hand through the woman's blonde locks and smiled, guess now isn't a good time after all, she thought.
After a while, when she could be sure Buffy wouldn't wake, she eased the sleeping woman down beside her and picked up the book to reread.
Alice read throughout the night while Buffy slept.
Sometimes she skimmed through, sometimes she studied a single passage, but inevitably she kept coming back to the same page over and over again.
From what Buffy had explained to her, slayers were always female, so the man couldn't have been a slayer, but he had possessed at least some of the same traits.
There was still a chance that this wouldn't work, but it was the only chance they had even heard of.
What it boiled down to, she supposed, was the question of whether a slayer's superior strength and healing could change the way the venom worked.
The venom was meant for normal humans though, and slayers were definitely a different breed all around.
That was a mark in their favor, wasn't it?
The debate went around and around in her head as she read.
By the time the sky started to lighten outside the window Alice had decided that she would talk to Buffy after breakfast, when they went to the gym to spar.
She was still reading, or rereading, depending on how you looked at it, when Buffy woke.
"Morning babe" Alice said softly.
The slayer stretched, yawned, and finally opened her eyes with a lazy smile.
Buffy's POV
Buffy yawned and glanced over at her girlfriend with a sleepy smile.
She really hadn't meant to pass out like that, without giving anything back, but the weight of the last few days, and the incredible orgasm Alice had given her, had combined and sucked her under faster than she would have thought possible.
As her eyes focused on the brunette she realized that the vampire had been reading again, most likely the whole night, while she slept.
"Morning Hun" she said quietly, trying not to breath in the vampire's face too much.
Alice must have noticed what she was doing, because she laughed and leaned in to give Buffy a quick, nearly chaste, kiss.
"Mmm" the blonde purred happily.
Then her eyes fell on the open book in Alice's lap.
Squinting, she frowned, she recognized this book, and the page it was open to, Alice had been reading the same page it seemed for the last three days.
The slayer couldn't have read the book even if she wanted to, as it was in what she thought might be Italian, but she could recognize something she had seen several times recently.
Buffy sat back on her heels, biting her lower lip, and trying to figure out how to begin.
But she had always been prone to hitting things head-on, so she finally just spit it out.
"Alice, what's on that page that's so important that you would reread it for three days?".
Alice looked up, meeting her eyes with a perfect "deer in the headlights" look.
