Sakura POV
The next day when Sakura awoke she was surprised to see her face buried in a hard rock. Her first thought as a ninja was someone was trying to suffocate her with something. She panicked and pressed her hands to it. Upon closer inspection she found it was rather a someone opposed to a something. Somehow over the night Sasori and she had rolled next to each other. Her arm was wrapped around his waist and she was hugging him. She remembered the events of the night before and suddenly squinted her eyes together as if trying to block out the memories. Had she really confessed? Did she truly love him? The answer was yes she thought to herself upon sighing. She really was in love with the murderous red head. Was that fair to call him that? After all ninjas were murders for hire, the difference between her and him was he didn't do it for precious people. Every time she split a throat an image of Konoha was behind her. It was a place she could return to after the deed was done, but that place no longer existed. She decided she had enough of these thoughts. Quietly she removed her face from his chest and went off to the bathroom. Once she was dressed she decided to explore the mansion a bit.
It was huge, she concluded as she saw the twelfth bedroom. She looked out the windows to see a sprawling garden. She was being to become suspicious of the red head. She had a theory that he loved gardens, and heaven forbid even gardening.
Sasori POV
When Sasori found her she was sitting next to a sakura tree in his private garden. He smirked to himself, "how fitting," he thought. She truly looked beautiful by the pink petals that framed her soft pink hair. Sometimes he laughed to himself wondering how an innocent looking girl like her ever got mixed with being a ninja. She looked up at him then quickly looked down, a faint blush on her cheek. So the little blossom was embarrassed after last night. Did she regret it, her confession, he suddenly wondered in alarm. No, she was embarrassed because this was probably the first serious relationship she ever had. He thought back onto his serious relationships, he was old, he laughed to himself. He decided to tease her.
"What's wrong little blossom?"
She didn't reply. He grunted understanding that she needed time to herself right now. He had other more important things to do, like attend the council meeting.
Sasori laughed to himself when he heard the topic of the meeting. It was almost like fate was trying to force the two together. He adjourned the meeting and mentally began preparing the preparations that would need to made for this.
Sakura POV
Sakura looked in bewilderment as the Suna servants came in and hung lights up around the trees. The courtyard was slowly beginning to become full of plants and festival stands, it looked very beautiful. She whipped her head around to see Sasori arguing with one of the workers. They were making a festival! She watched as Sasori slowly approached her.
"Sakura, my beautiful wife, how do you like the festival preparations so far?
She was unsure of what to say, she had been avoiding him ever since last night unsure of what she would say to him and how to react. He seemed as though he were perusing her. He then whispered in her ear,
"You of course will be my beautiful princess for the night."
She blushed and didn't meet his eyes, she watched as he walked away to go annoy another worker who was stringing up lanterns around the courtyard.
Sasori POV
He watched her walk away, she was nervous but after tonight she would see how much he truly loved her and wanted to care for her. He would never tell anyone this but he truly loved the blossom, she was his weakness. He had decided to throw this festival for two reasons the first being it was a tradition of Suna and the council had suggested it because they thought the people might be more comfortable and accepting of him as their kazakage if he showed he still cared about their traditions and customs. He remembered when he was young and his parents would take him to the cherry blossom festival. He remembered his wide eyes in shock about the Sakura tree glowing, with lanterns hanging down from the branches, twisting around the flowers that hung onto the branches. The second reason was that he had a surprised for his little flower. Tonight he would show her how much he cared about her. He remembered his plan and set off into the direction of Suna's biggest marketplace.
Sakura POV
Sakura glared at herself in the mirror. Why was she so shy? Wasn't this her partner that she loved and cared about? Why was she hesitating? She looked outside to see the sun slowly setting. The courtyard was arranged neatly and the lanterns were being lit. Some people had begun to slowly trickle in. She heard a knock on the door and opened it to find one of the maids with a package.
"I have a package for Sakura," she asked hesitantly.
Sakura nodded and the women walked in and gave her the package and then left. Sakura threw it onto her bed. She walked to it to and opened it. She gasped upon seeing the contents. Inside was a beautiful pink kimono with dainty little Sakura blossoms on it. The material was light and upon trying it on she found it fit her perfectly. There was only one person she could think of that would spend so much on a gift, Sasori, she thought to herself. She quickly did her head in a messy bun, and applied light make-up to accentuate her green eyes.
When she arrived down in the court yard she found Sasori standing in front of the large sakura tree that had the most lanterns. There were small fountains around it and she looked as the water reflected off his pale skin making him seem to glow. He stepped forward and took her hand. She looked at his warm reddish- brown eyes. Slowly their lips moved forward. Closer, closer and closer they leaned towards each other. Then she stopped suddenly pulling her lips away from his. He looked back at her not surprised but understandingly.
"Sakura, I know this is hard for you because you feel like our love is betraying the memories of your dead friends but, they loved you and would have wanted you to be happy. You never betrayed them, you sacrificed everything for them and you fought so hard, but it's your turn now, you deserve to be happy and no one deserves to be able to take that from you, yourself included."
Sakura slowly felt herself begin to cry, she watched as he caught her stray tear. She slowly nodded and kissed him and she knew she had made the right decision. She was happy and no one deserved to take that away from her. She would find a way to protect Sasori and Ino. They then spent the rest of the night drunk on each other's presence.
