Christmas drew closer each day, and, for some reason, crime had dropped considerably. When there actually were crimes, Kid Flash usually went to take care of the problem himself, insisting Jinx stay put. Today was no exception; Jinx sat in the living room as she studied the Christmas tree that she and Wally had decorated a week before.

Jinx was bored as she watched the lights blink different colors. Her mind eventually wandered into distant thoughts. She couldn't help but feel grateful. She was glad that her red haired companion had convinced her to change sides. Despite his arrogance when they had first met, he had managed to get to her.

She was grateful for so many things Wally had done for her, but of course she wasn't going to tell him that. She didn't want it all to go to his head because it absolutely would. She had to tell him almost every day not to call her 'Jinxie' or 'Slowpoke' which annoyed her to no end. Imagine what he would do if she were to tell him she was thankful.

Wally had helped her with countless things that nobody else would have even attempted. There was something about him that drove her crazy, and made her want to hex him to death. There were other times where she felt that she could tell him almost anything.

For one, he told her she was welcome to live with him in his apartment. The pink haired sorceress didn't feel too comfortable with the idea at first because she thought it was just a clever ruse the boy had worked up with to get in bed with her. When she brought that up with him he was appalled, saying he couldn't believe that she thought he would do such a thing. His face had turned as red as his hair and made her laugh. From that day on they had lived together as peacefully as a flirtatious, dashing (pun intended) speedster and a snarky, sarcastic ex-villainous sorceress could.

Kid Flash had even gone as far as to help her with using her powers for good instead of bad. There was a little bit of an adjustment for Jinx because using your powers for stopping a bank robber without injuring them greatly differed from giving it all you have while fighting against a certain gray half demon from the Titans. The red haired boy set up little training courses in secluded places like the dump or abandoned buildings just outside of town to avoid any complications with the public. He would play the role of the criminal and sometimes he would have water guns which she could melt. Once he even made fake hostages for her to rescue. When they first started out, the speedster carried some bruises and scratches, but he never seemed to mind; he sometimes smiled for no reason at all.

Another thing that Jinx was grateful - no, indebted to Kid Flash for was he had saved her life on several different occasions. Contrary to popular belief, the sweet-talking redhead could be serious when the situation required him to be so. When he was serious, he was scarier than Slade which meant a lot.

She would never forget the day where she had been taking care of some thugs solo, and then the situation had gotten out of control. She thought they would be easy to take care of alone, but they soon proved to be much more than she could handle. One of the men had overpowered her, and pinned her to a wall. Jinx wasn't one to be scared; heck, she rarely got nervous, but she definitely was scared at the moment. Then out of the blue a flash of red and yellow appeared by her side and proceeded to take out the criminals. Kid Flash wasn't one to be very violent, even when it came to taking care of criminals, but this time he was ruthless. His face was one of pure anguish, and it actually made Jinx's stomach turn. The sweet speedster was not there at the moment, and it scared her for a second. He grabbed the man that was holding her and he slammed his head against the wall and punched him repeatedly until he most likely had several broken bones. When he was done with the men he picked Jinx up and took her home without saying a word. If he hadn't showed up then, who knows how the fight would've turned out? She doubted the outcome would've been in her favor.

Jinx attempted to find reasons to be mad at Wally. Try as she may, no events came to mind that warranted anger on her part. The guy was too sweet for his own good. No, her lame excuses for being so irate would have to suffice. Those mostly consisted of Wally's persistent advances on her. Despite the fact that she pushed him away every time, it only seemed to goad him on. He was just like a puppy with his big blue eyes always watching her. What was she supposed to do about that? He's a hero, and although Jinx was too now, the relationship just didn't concur in her mind. He was too good for her, and nothing was going to change her mind. Her best couldn't even measure up with his worst. That much she was adamant about.

After claiming victory in a small fight against a few hoodlums smashing up a shop downtown, a tired yet still determined Wally raced home to his apartment. The thought of seeing his Jinxie was enough to make him hurry in spite of the injuries he had sustained in the fight. He made it home in record speed and walked into the living room to find his pink-haired companion sitting on the couch, her head resting against her propped up fist. The speedster felt touched that the sorceress waited for him to come back. He found it cute that she had fallen asleep.

Wally decided to be bold, and wanted to surprise his Jinxie. Quietly, Wally dashed in front of her, and found that her eyes were closed. In between her even breaths she snored softly. Chuckling to himself, Wally lifted her up and sat her back down on his lap, cradling her as if she were a baby. Casting a smile down on her, the ginger watched the girl as she slept. She reminded the boy of a little pink kitten. She sure acted like one with her cranky temper, and especially with the way she moved. He knew he would probably get hexed to death for what he was doing, but it was totally worth it.

A small strand of her hair had somehow managed to escape its bind, so with the hand that wasn't supporting her head he brushed the stray hair away from her face. This elicited a mild reaction from Jinx. At first her eyes fluttered open and Wally thought she might go back to sleep, but then she yawned, and he knew she was waking up.

"Sleeping in the middle of the day, Jinxie?" Wally teased her with a bright smile.

Jinx's brow furrowed as she took in her surroundings. When she realized she was on Wally's lap, she growled and released a small hex to sting the boy's chest. She jumped up and clenched her fists. She couldn't believe the nerve of this boy. He must have a death wish.

"Ow, Jinxie," he said, his lower lip protruding.

"Stop calling me that!" Jinx roared. "I can't believe you have the... the... the audacity to-"

"To do what, Jinxie?" Wally asked, completely ignoring her previous request. "Take a leaf from my book. Have a little fun in life! You have to put your past behind you. You're a hero now. You don't have to be afraid of your feelings."

"Who says I have feelings for you?" Even as she spoke the words, she could hear the falsehood in them.

"I never said your feelings for me, but it makes me feel so special that you feel that way for me Slowpoke." Wally chuckled as he started to run around the room to avoid the hexes that were thrown at him.

"You're impossible, you know that?" Jinx retorted with a big, exasperated sigh as she sat down.

"I'm sorry Slowpoke." Wally said with a frown and blue eyes twinkling like the ocean.

"Don't do that," Jinx groaned, "You're making me feel sorry."

"My plan worked," the speedster stated with a wide grin, "What do you want for dinner?"

"I'll make dinner. You took care of the bad guys." Jinx said as she walked to the kitchen.

"Why can't I make dinner?" Wally asked with slight curiosity.

"It's the least I can do," Jinx explained with a small smile, "I want to show that I appreciate what you have done for me."

"Jinxie, you don't have to do that to show your appreciation," Wally informed, "You show that by staying here with me, and by helping me with bad guys."

"I'm still making dinner." Jinx smirked with a slight blush as the speedster smiled at her and walked towards her.

"Sometimes I could use a hug though," Wally whispered into her ear, "I'm better with touch than words."

The two shared a hug that resulted in the both of them blushing quite intensely when they let go of each other. They made dinner together, and enjoyed the company of each other for the night.
