Killua and Aida had been waiting for a couple days, keeping their guard up incase anyone decided they wanted to steal their tags. Part of the time was just sitting and staying up at night talking nonsense and other times was deep talks, two in the morning kind of talks that got them thinking.

"I didn't just want to be apart of that business." Killua tells her. "I wasn't allowed to do much of anything and I just got bored spending time with myself."

"Tired of the comfort?" Aida chuckled to herself. "No, I guess I can understand that."

"What do you mean, you guess?" Killua asked.

"Well, I'm not in your shoes." Aida explained. "I can listen and listen, but I won't actually know what you're going through. But your mom is well, evil bitch lady and my dad was a serial killer."

"They're one in the same if we are going to be honest." Killua told her. "You're dad was an ameture at his craft though."

"I see that now that I've met you." Aida chuckled. How is it that I get so mad at my dad for killing people for his pleasure yet I'm sitting here having a conversation with Killua… part of the Zoldyck estate… well was part of the Zoldyck estate and yet I don't feel the betrayal that I felt with my dad. No, it's different. Killua is my friend and he was just a kid; is just a kid. My dad… he was never my dad and was fully aware of what he was doing. No one brought up my dad to be a serial killer.

"You see..." Killua started to say. "I never got to do the things I wanted. It was all training, and all the times I wasn't being listened to, all the times I just wanted to scream I broke."

"Yeah, you injured your family members." Aida recalled him telling her.

"So, I just wanted to do something different." Killua told her.

"And that is why you're taking the hunter exam." Aida said. "Wait, was this the only decision that you ever made for yourself?"

"Yeah I guess you could say that." Killua chuckles. "Moving on back to you…"

"Huh?" Aida asked.

"Your caretaker? Dr. Chlora? You read his book on the boat, which is why you never joined Gon and me fishing." Killua told her.

"I already said everything." Aida told him.

"No, you diverted the conversation back to me, and you never actually talked about it." Killua told her. Silence.

"Fine." Aida told him. "Well, I don't know what to do about it. I was hoping I could just pass the hunter exam and just never see him again."

"But why?" Killua asked.

"Because, he didn't adopt me. I don't know what's worse, the fact that I could have had everything I wanted out of a family or him knowing I wanted it and not doing anything about it." Aida told him.

"Or maybe, you just never saw him as a father figure." Killua told her.

"What?" Aida asked.

"You just saw him as the scientist guy who used you. Maybe try seeing him in a different light, that book was probably a lot to take in." Killua said.

"I guess." Aida tells him. "Try seeing your mother in a different light and I might just listen to your advice." She jokes.

"No." Killua told her. "Not happening."

"Thought so." Aida said.

The phase was coming to a close, as the two move closer to the front.

"You did a good job a couple days ago." Killua says.

"You think so?" Aida asks.

"Well yeah. Who knew you were strong."

"Really? Look, I may not be able to rip someone's heart out, but I had to become strong. I'm not just a weakling." Aida protested.

Killua lays down on his stomach and holds his arm straight up and down from the ground. "Arm wrestle me." He demands.

"What?"

"Come on! I'm going to make you stronger." Aida gets on her stomach and then reaches for his head.

"You're joking right?" She asked Please tell me he is joking I would be completely demolished!

"I want to measure your strength. So, don't hold back" He tells her.

"That's very degrading!" She exclaims with her arms crossed looking down at him who is already in position.

"Come on!" Killua tells her. "Who knows I might have underestimated you."

"Shut up!" She rolls her eyes and gets in position. She takes his hand. Wait, this is the first time I've ever touched his hand...

Her hand is surprisingly soft considering we had just been on this island for an entire week. Killua thinks. "Are you ready?" He asks her.

"No." Aida proclaimed.

"Too late. 3.2.1 Go!" They both give it their all. It takes about 10 seconds for Killua to bring her hand down to the ground, after those ten seconds Aida shakes off her hand getting the jiggles out of her arm "Not bad…" He says.

"Not bad? YOU DEMOLISHED ME WITHIN 10 SECONDS!" She screams.

"Well yeah, but even if 5 strong guys arm wrestled me, they wouldn't be able to stand for even a second." Killua explains.

"I'm guessing you aren't holding back either, show off."

"No, not at all. In fact, I'm surprised that your hand didn't create a hole in the ground. Yeah, you're pretty strong. Again." Killua said. "I'm not a show off."

"Really? Because you totally are." She laughed. "This is humiliating."

"You can do it." Killua said.

"You really think that I will be able to beat you one day?" Aida asks.

"Nope, not at all." Aida twitches her eye a bit. "But your right hand will become strong." Killua said.

"You know, that just makes me not what to arm wrestle anymore." Killua grabs her hand and then places it in his.

"You're doing this."

"Why?!" Aida screams.

"Because you're determined." He protested.

After Aida gets defeated time and time again for the next couple hours her hand started to get bruises. Her arm is starting to ache and Killua is just there not even breaking a sweat. She went from withstanding him from 10 seconds to almost pushing his hand down half way through!

"See! You're getting better!" Killua said.

"You're putting forth all your strength too?" Aida asks.

"Yeah." They both sit back up and stare out in the island.

"But the stronger I get the stronger you get!" Aida concluded.

"So it's good for both of us." Killua said.

"I'm done." She said. She looks out into the island as she sees the boat pulling up. "One more phase." Aida said.

"You really believe that?" Killua asks.

"I do." Aida said. "I just get this feeling…"

"What feeling?" Killua asked.

By the end of the fourth phase only 10 applicants remain. Of course, there was #44 who had his target's tag and three other was #301 who was Gittarackur. He was the weird guy with all the needles in his his face. He had two tags, his and his targets. There was #294, which was the ninja Hanzo. He was the only one who actually knew how to make sushi during the second phase. He had his tag and three other targets. There was #191 who Bodoro was. He was a muscular guy and master of the martial arts. This would be his second attempt at the exam. He had two tags, his and his targets. There was #53. That was Pokkle. He had a bow and arrow and was a master in archery. He had his target's number and his own. There was #405. Gon Freecs. Killua looked at the tags he collect. "Wow! He actually did it!" Killua thinks to himself as Gon shows the lady his tags.

Of course, Killua and Aida made it as they were just waiting for the phase to run out of time. Aida looks to see that Kurapika and Leorio made it as well.

They all get on the blimp that took them to Trick Tower. "Gon, I'm surprised you made it." Killua tells him.

"Oh really. Yeah me too." He looks down. Killua could tell something was different about Gon. He always seems down and not as happy as he used to be, yet happy enough to the point where Killua would say anything.

Aida takes a big sigh and Kurapika comes back with a bottle of water for her to drink. "You ready for the final phase?" Kurapika asks her.

Aida nods quickly. "I got the tags I needed on like the second day. I'm just itching for the next phase to start!" She said.

Kurapika laughs. "Here. Stay hydrated." He hands her a drink of water.

"Kurapika?" She asks as she opens the bottle.

"What is it?" He asks her.

"Are you nervous about failing? We have gotten this close. What if we all fail?" Aida asks.

"It's a possibility. We can always try next year though." Kurapika states.

"1 out of 3 rookies pass the hunter exam every year. Sometimes, no rookies pass." Aida said.

"I know. I did my research." Kurapika reassures. "But now, there are 6 rookies out of the 10 that passed."

"And what are the chances of all of us getting by?" Aida asks.

"Slim to none." Kurapika said bluntly. He takes a big sigh and then looks out the window. "But we all made it this far, and those chances were slim to none."

"Only 10 applicants remain as they all attempt to complete the final phase." Menchi says to Netero. "What are you going to do?"

"I don't know yet." Netero said.

"You… You don't know yet?" Menchi asks.

"No, but I do have an idea." Netero answers.

A few hours later the speakers in the blimp come on and it was the lady who spoke to them at the boat. "#44, please meet Chairman Netero in room 105." The speakers go off.

Hisoka gets up and all the applicants are just standing in front of the door. Hisoka gives off a little laugh as he closes the door. All Hisoka sees is Chairman Netero sitting in front of him. "Okay, this is going to be an interview."

Hisoka takes a seat in front of him. "I see, I see."

"Out of all the applicants, which one are you keeping an eye on?"

Hisoka puts his finger on his chin. "If you ask me right now, I'm keeping an eye on #99. I'm also keeping my eye on #405, but mostly #99."

"Okay." Netero writes some stuff down on his yellow legal pad. "Which applicant do you not want to fight with?"

"#405 and #99." Hisoka responds. "But, that's asking me now."

"Which applicant do you find most appealing to fight?"

"#99 and #405." He responds. "But, the person I want to fight right now, is you." He had that evil eye in his look.

"Very well. That is all. You may go." Netero says. He doesn't even look up from his yellow legal pad.

Hisoka gets up from his seat. "Poor guy. I could have killed him right on the spot. He left himself wide in the open that it caught me off guard." He opens the door and walks away from the room without saying another word.

The speakers go on. "#301, please see Chairman Netero in room 105." The speakers go off. Everyone went in the order they got to the bottom of trick tower, until Aida's number got called.

The speakers go on. "#123, please see Chairman Netero in room 105." The speakers go off.

"Well that's me." She get up and the fixes her belt and enters the room. She sees Chairman Netero sitting on the floor with a yellow legal pad and a pen in his hand. She sits down in front of him on the other side of the tables.

"Hi." She said with a little wave and then sits in front of him. "Is this where we are going to have another game?" She joked.

"This is going to be an interview." He doesn't even look up from his yellow legal pad. "Out of all the remaining applicants which one are you keeping an eye on?

"Hmmm… #301."

"Out of the remaining applicants, which one do you want to fight the least?"

"#99, definitely. Also, #405. But I would fight anyone as long as I don't have to kill them, you know like a clean fight."

"Mhmm, out of the remaining applicants which one do you find most appealing to fight?"

"#405, but also #404 and #403. Then there's #99 that I'm completely interested in dueling with, even though I'd probably lose. They are my friends, but I would love to fight them in actual combat to see who would win."

"That is all." Netero said.

"Wait, that's all you needed? Aida asked with a confused look on her face.

"Yes. You may go."

"Well before I go, remember that you owe me a game. I still want to try to get the ball from you! And that, I had fun."Aida gets up off her seat and lets out a big sigh. "Thank you, Mr. Netero. Hopefully, I will become a hunter this year, but it's okay if I'm not. After all I'm just a rookie."

" Ohh...You really think you have no chance at passing?" Netero asks her.

"Actually, I think I can, but it really depends on how things turn out. If I end up having to fight one of my friends, then I will do it. If it means killing them, or killing any of the applicants for that matter, then nothing, even becoming a hunter, will make me do that. After all, all 10 of us got here together. Why would I kill them?"

"Interesting." Netero says. "This is the most interesting response I have ever gotten from any rookie or any applicant for that matter."

She starts walking out the door and then close "Well, I wonder what he will use these answers for." She gets up and then closes the door behind her.

The speakers go on. "#405, please see Chairman Netero in room 105." The speakers go off. Gon enters room 105 and gets the exact same questions.

"I'm keeping an eye on #44." Gon responds.

"Out of all the remaining applicants which one do you want to fight the least?"

"I honestly couldn't choose between #404, #403, #123, and #99. We all went through a lot together and I don't want to fight any of them. I also know I don't want to fight #44. I wouldn't stand a chance."

"Out of all the remaining applicants, which one do you find most appealing to fight with?"

"I'd rather fight no one, to be honest."

Gon leaves the room and then sits next to Aida. "He asked you those questions?" Aida says.

"Yeah. It was weird." Gon said.

The speakers go on. "#99, please see Chairman Netero in room 105." The speakers go on.

"That's Killua." Aida said.

"I wonder what he is going to say." Gon wonders.

Killua enters the room as the chairman starts the interview with him. "Out of the remaining applicants, which one are you keeping an eye on?"

"#44, definitely."

"Out of the remaining applicants, which one do you want to fight with the least?"

"#405 and #123 for sure. I also don't want to fight #53. I don't think it would be much of an interesting fight."

"Out of the remaining applicants which one do you find most appealing to fight?"

"Again, #44 and I would like to see how #301 fights too."

He exits the room and joins Aida and Gon who are sitting on the bench and looking out the window. They had no idea what they interview was about at all. Then Leorio's number gets called.

"I'm definitely keeping an eye out for #44."

"Which do you want to fight with the least?"

"#405 definitely, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. There's also #44. He scary."

"Which applicant do you find most appealing to fight?"

"Hm, I would like to see how #301 would fight. I haven't seen anything from him. Then there's #53."

After Leorio, it was Kurapika who had his interview. He went into the room and he got asked the same questions.

"#405 and #123 for positive reasons. #44 for negative reasons."

"Which do you want to fight the least."

"I hope I won't have to fight anyone, but I will fight anyone."

"Which do you find the most appealing to fight?"

"#53, I'm interested in. Then there #123 because I haven't seen her fight, yet."

Kurapika exits and every applicant gets called one at a time into an interview with only three questions. All the applicants are just waiting to see what the final phase is. Everyone is in their own room and it had turned completely dark. "So what do you think all those interviewing was for?" Aida asks.

Killua was just staring at the ceiling. "I'm not sure, to be honest."

"You think it has something to do for the last phase of the exam?"

"Most likely."

"Are you worried?"

"Not really."

There was a silence. It seems as though they both know what is going to happen in the next phase. They just don't want to admit to each other because they are scared they are going to have to fight each other. Killua is especially scared because he does not want to fight either Gon or Aida. Even though they had met for a short time, he doesn't feel the need to kill them. He doesn't want to kill them. He was an ex-assassin and he isn't about that life anymore. He is sick of killing and murdering people. He doesn't want to be a top assassin at all.

Aida on the other hand, is hoping that she doesn't have to kill anyone. She doesn't want to kill all of the friends she had just met. She would like to consider the group she met as friends, even if they just met at the Hunter Exam. They spent 50 hours in a room together.

She was with Killua most of the time. She felt as though she wanted to be with Killua a lot and that she gets excited whenever she is with him. What is this feeling? She never felt that way about anyone ever before.

"Killua?" Aida says to break the silence.

"Yes?"

"You scared?" Aida asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Are you scared?" Aida asked again. "Have you never been scared ever in your life?"

"Yeah." Killua answer. But not for the reasons you think. I'm scared of having to hurt you or Gon. Killua just smiles, uncertain of what the exam holds the next morning.
