Parts of this chapter are taken from "Ridicule" in season 3.

As Alex was walking back into her office after arraignment that morning, her phone was ringing.

"Cabot."

"Ms. Cabot, I have Jason on the phone. Would you like me to put him through?"

"Uh, yes. Thank you." She said as she struggled to get out of her jacket.

"Hey Jason."

"Hey Alex. We tried to call you this morning."

"Yeah, I wasn't home."

"I figured."

After a few beats, Alex decided that ignoring the statement would be the better approach and moved on to finding out how the conversation at the school went.

"Did you talk with Mrs. Pierce this morning?"

"Uh, yeah. She said she would address it with the class, and she would assure Amy that she could come to her if she has any more problems."

"How did Amelia seem this morning?"

"Better. But she bolted when we got to the school"

"That's strange."

"I thought so too, but she was safe, and I needed to get in and get out so that I could get to the office before I had to head to court for opening statements."

"Well, I'm picking her up from school today, so I will see how she's doing then."

"Alex we didn't talk with her about Janice or Olivia."

"I know. Are you available for dinner tomorrow?"

"I guess I can be."

"We can make it an early dinner, but I would really like for Amy to meet Olivia this weekend. She is not on call, and I have Amelia. I'm not sure when that will happen again."

"I guess then it would be ok for me to introduce her to Janice on Sunday then?"

"Jason, you don't need my permission."

"Ok, why don't we pick her up from school and then go get ice cream?"

"Do you have a hot date or something?"

"I have reservations at 8, and I would really like to keep them."

"Ok, ice cream it is."

"See you tomorrow then?"

"Yes, we'll see you tomorrow. Bye Jason."

No sooner than she hung up the phone and someone was knocking at her door.

"Geez." She mumbled as she hung up her jacket.

"Come in." She called out to the visitor.

Olivia and Elliott walked in, and Detective Stabler look none too happy to be there. Remember the conversation that she had with the Captain this morning, Alex realized this meeting was going to be frustrating. She should have known that Stabler was going to make this difficult.

"Have a seat. What do we got?"

"At this point not much thanks to some poor investigation done by a couple of unies." Olivia replied.

"Was he drugged?" Elliot asked.

"He doesn't need to be." Why was he fighting this so much? And why can't he take a seat? His pacing is not relieving the tension for anyone.

"Was there even a weapon?" He pressed.

"None listed happened at the bachelorette party. Mob attack isn't unheard of." Olivia responded after consulting the file.

"Did the uniforms follow up on the suspect complaint?" I inquired choosing to ignore Elliott's obnoxious behavior.

"They asked a few questions and then they dropped it." Olivia reported.

"Because they didn't buy it and neither do I, and more importantly neither will a jury." Elliott was really trying to get me to drop this, and I'm not going to. This man deserves justice just like the women and children we fight for.

"Well if the attack took place, I'll make sure that they do."

"First male rape victim with female perps that adds up to a lot of attention doesn't it counselor?"

Now he is being insulting. "I am not interested in that." I really resent his tone and his words at this point. "He is the first man to come forward the statue for rape one was changed in January detective."

"What about his inability to complete the act against his will?"

Really? Now he was really aiming below the belt, and I was stunned that he would talk about a victim that way.

Apparently, Olivia is also shocked, "An erection is a physical response Elliott." Her voice is rising with each syllable.

"If he was aroused he consented."

Ok this has gone far enough. "Well the law disagrees with you. So, interview the victim and get his statement."

"Well it was your predecessor who declined to prosecute. So maybe you should find out why before we chase our tales." I roll my eyes. Touche detective, but I still don't appreciate the way he has been talking to me.

"Well, until you hear otherwise we are moving forward with this case." I respond before standing up. Elliott heads for the door not saying anything else.

Olivia doesn't stand to follow him. I look at her and sit back down.

"Did you talk with Jason?" She isn't being subtle either.

"Yes, and we are going to talk with Amy tomorrow afternoon. So we should be good to go on Saturday." I say smiling at her.

She smiles back, and for now everything seems perfect.

"Look, I'll give you a call after I get Amy in bed. Is that ok?"

"Yeah. I'll be waiting."

"Oh, I know you will."

And with that Olivia follows her partner out of her lover's office.

A few hours later, Alex is waiting outside of her daughter's school with the other mothers, and she realizes that she doesn't know any of them. She knows some of the other parents from the dance studio but she doesn't know any of the people here. While she comtemplated walking up to a group of women standing near her, the bell rang. Her daughter was the first one out of the building, and ran up to her mother throwing her arms around her legs.

"Hey Amy G!" Alex said as she returned the fierce hug. "How was your day today?"

Amy just shrugged as she took her mother's hand hoping to get out of there before some of the girls from her class made it down the steps.

The mother and daughter duo walked away from the school and towards the subway.

"Amy did something happen today?"

"No, I'm just tired." She lied and she hope that her mother bought it. Clearly her parents knowing about the situation was not helping her in any way.

Alex sense that there might be more to the story but decided that pressing her daughter in the subway was going to be a bad idea. She didn't need Amelia to have a meltdown, and her daughter probably didn't need it either.

When the pair finally reached the apartment, Amy quickly shed her coat in the hallway and headed to her room to change. She deposited her back pack at the table on the way. After Alex had taken off her coat and shoes she grabbed her daughter's bag and looked for the folder containing homework. She was a little shocked to see more than one page in the folder. The first page just had 10 subtraction problems on it, but the second was a little more complicated.

The directions read:

Please talk with your parents about bullying. After the conversation, please briefly write some comments or questions that the family has regarding bullying in our class.

Alex went over to the phone and called Jason's pager. She could only hope that he was still at the office. Otherwise she knew it could be a few hours before he called her back.

Luckily the phone rang just as Amy was coming back out of her room.

"Hello?"

"Hey Alex, what's up?"

"Jason, one second."

"Baby, can you please start your math homework? I will be right out after I change."

Amelia nodded and began searching her bag for a pencil to finish the worksheet that was already on the table.

"Hey. What did you say to Mrs. Pierce about bullying this morning?"

"I actually didn't say anything about bullying. I just asked her to be more inclusive when she was teaching about families. She is the one that brought up bullying. Why?"

"One of Amy assignment's tonight is to have a conversation about bullying."

"Really?"

"Yeah, and then I have to write down any questions or comments we have about it."

"Mrs. Pierce did mention that we are not the first parents to report bullying this year."

"Hmmm. Well maybe I can figure out what's up with Amy through this conversation."

"Did she have a bad day?"

"She hasn't really said anything about her day."

"Well, tell her I love her, and that I will see her for ice cream tomorrow."

"Do you want to tell her?"

"Yeah. Ok."

Alex walked back out to the table still wearing her clothes.

"Here Amy, daddy wants to tell you something." She handed the phone to her daughter and headed to her room to actually change out of her work clothes.

"Hi June Bug!"

"Hi daddy." Jason could hear that his daughter was not perky.

"Baby, I just wanted to tell you that I love you and that tomorrow Mommy and I are going to pick you up from school and go out for ice cream. How does that sound?"

"Really?" Now he could feel the excitement in her voice.

"Yes, really!"

"Ok, daddy! I love you too!"

"Bye June Bug."

"Bye daddy." Amelia hung up the phone just as Alex returned from her room. As soon as she saw her mother she smiled a genuine smile. And Alex smiled back.
