It was about two weeks into the school year, Harry and Draco sat in the Slytherin common room. It was empty, meaning Harry took this time to try and practice The Killing Curse.
"Try again Haz!" Draco egged on Harry as he tried to aim perfectly at the little bug on the wall. Draco was amused by Harry's many attempts to kill the spider.
"This isn't-" Harry started, but Professor Snape walked into the common room. He looked at what Harry was aiming at and rolled his eyes.
"May I help you?" Harry asked sounding very exhausted. Snape sneered, the child had acted like he was the Dark Lord already, bossing around adults and being snotty to teachers.
"I'm not going to remind you again Lestrange. While you are in school you will address me as Sir or Professor and you will show me some respect." Snape whispered darkly.
Harry crossed his arms as he mumbled, "Whatever."
"Here, a gift from your Father," he said, tossing a dirty rat at the boys with a grin before leaving.
"Why the hell did your father send you Wormtail?" Draco asked disgustedly. He picked the rat up by its tail, screwed up his face at it then proceeded to throw it at the wall. The rat fell with a high pitched squeak.
"At least he can kill spiders" Harry joked as the rat scurried around frantically with a dead spider on its back. Harry and Draco followed it back to their now empty dormitory where the small rat transformed into the bigger human form rat, Wormtail.
"You evil- You little- You-" Wormtail cursed as he swept the spider off his back. The boys just watched him, amused.
"Sorry about that Wormtail. What are you even doing here?" Harry sighed, jumping into his bed. He was trying to be nicer to Wormtail since he found out he'd tried to save him as a baby, but it was all too hard at times.
"Trust me, I'd rather be anywhere but here saving your sorry scrawny arse." Wormtail snapped.
"Save me? Please! You can't even save yourself against me." Harry told him lazily, thinking about taking a nap soon. "I don't need your help, crawl back up Snape's ass and send yourself back to my father."
"This is bigger than you know boy. Something evil beyond you is lurking in the castle, and I've been sent to put an end to it." Wormtail explained in an eerie tone.
"He's practically pissing himself!" Draco laughed, "Look at him! He's got himself his first big boy job and he's getting off on it."
"Please don't tell me you touch yourself thinking about my father Wormtail." Harry said, adding in on the joke. Wormtail turned an angry shade, "I should just let you die you ungrateful-" he steamed.
"ANYWAY" Harry interrupted, "I already know everything Wormtail, my father told me before school. You're not saving me or protecting me, you're in my way and on my nerves. Send yourself back home now." Harry concluded, drawing the curtains around his bed, blocking him from view.
"You wish your father told you everything! I'm here on a mission as well and I'm staying!" Wormtail squealed like a tantrum.
"Spare me!" Harry's bed shouted back. Wormtail shook with anger, he transformed back into a rat and crawled up Harry's bedpost to sleep at the top. If only that stupid boy knew the truth. Wormtail was there to save him, he was to keep Lupin and Harry from being alone at all costs. Because if Harry was told even an ounce about his true identity, The Dark Lord ordered he'd be killed.

"Sirius was always the daftest of you four! How could he think breaking out of Azkaban was a good idea? How did he even do it?" Lily thought aloud. James lay next to her on their couch, exhausted, "I don't know, this is mad, isn't it? Nothing stops Sirius when he's got his mind set on something and if The Order is right, he might just go in and try to scoop Harry up himself."
"He will ruin the entire plan! I wish there was a way to talk to him before anything happens" Lily worried. James sat up, "I don't because if I see that bastard anytime soon I'm going to wring his neck." Just then their front door rang. James cautiously went to answer it seeing as the person did not use their secret ring people must use for the Potter house. He drew his wand as he slowly opened the door, a big black dog came bounding in, nearly knocking James over. James closed the front door quickly, the black dog grew into a tall, raggedy looking man.
"Sirius!" James squealed boyishly, running over to give his long-lost friend a hug.
"James Potter!" Sirius said happily, they laughed and hugged for a long minute. Once they stopped, Lily walked over, Sirius opened his arms for her, "Lily!" but instead of a hug, she slapped him.
"You very much have a lot of nerve coming here Sirius! You messed up our plan 13 years ago and you've come back just in time to mess up another one!" she growled. Sirius massaged the spot on his face she'd slapped, still smiling, "Still just as feisty as you were as a schoolgirl I see."
"Sirius, what-how-when-how-" James sputtered, all too happy at the moment.
"All in due time my friend, but for now I've got something to tell you. It was my fault your son got taken away, so I've made it my duty to get him back." Sirius confessed.
"What do you mean it was your fault?" Lily squinted her eyes. Sirius sighed, "I've spent years in my cell thinking about how I would tell you two this, but I think the best way is to just confess. You were right Lily, I shouldn't have been the first person you told you were pregnant. I'm sorry you entrusted such a secret with me. Of course, I was excited and I went to a pub with Wormtail, got drunk, and accidentally let it slip to him. Nobody knew at that time he was working for Voldemort, he must've spilled the news to his Master, and that is why he visited you, threatening you, that night."
"You told Sirius you were pregnant before me?" James asked Lily, slightly hurt.
"I was scared, I didn't know what to do, I just needed to talk to someone, I guess I chose the wrong person in the end," Lily added, glaring at Sirius.
Sirius nodded, "And I'm terribly sorry I betrayed your trust. When I found out you were at the hospital I was elated, I told our friends, secretly, like you'd asked me to James. I should've put two and two together that Wormtail could not be trusted but I didn't. Once I'd found out it was Wormtail relaying all the information to Voldemort I was so enraged I went to kill him, but I didn't he faked his death and I was taken away."
"Wormtail's not dead?" James questioned, eyes wide.
"No, at least, I didn't kill him, I don't know if someone else might have." Sirius scowled. "But the point is, this is all my fault, so I've made it my mission to right my wrongs."
"No," Lily said shortly, "absolutely not! We've spent years trying to come up with a plan with The Order on how to get Harry back, you're not swooping in now to fuck everything up!"
"Shes right Sirius…" James agreed softly, "Look, mate, I'm so happy to see you, why don't you just stay the night and rest a bit? Maybe we can talk to The Order about you helping but… We don't need you acting so rash right now, not when so much is on the line. Come on, let's get some tea and catch up instead." James wrapped his arm around a very confused Sirius, who allowed himself to be led to the kitchen. James and Lily offered Sirius their guest room for the night to sleep off his journey. Instead, when everyone was asleep, Sirius wrote a note apologizing once more and disappeared into the night.

It was only one day before the Christmas break and Harry had snapped. He was already on edge about the Lupin and Sirius Black ordeal, but he also still had the Weasley boy trailing him everywhere he went. On this day he'd had enough. He'd walked into the bathroom and it just so happened Ron walked in too. Harry went off on him, "What the hell are you following me for? Leave me alone!"
"You are one pompous bastard to think I'd spend my time following you, I came in for a wee." Ron lied.
"I know you've been following me you ginger twat, everywhere I go, you go. What's your fucking problem?"
"I haven't got a bloody problem, you do! You come back to school covered in bruises like its cool, then you go sneaking around like you're hiding something, you've got this big bad 'I'm so mysterious' bullshit going on, everyone thinks you've got a bloody problem!" Ron ranted, Harry suddenly thought back to what Hermione at said at the beginning of the year, he needed to be less suspicious.
"You know what color my piss is too mate? Think you got me all figured out do you?"
"You're weird! Everything about you is weird, you think people like that shit? Mr. Oh So Charming, its weird, you're weird!"
"Weird enough to have your sister taking every inch of this weird-"
Ron shot a spell at him before he could finish, it missed. Harry drew his wand and blew Ron backward. They'd gathered a crowd in the bathrooms, boys, and some girls, of all houses rushing in to see the fight. Harry used his wand to send a wave full of water at Ron. "You're in my house, Weasley! It's about time you learned my rules!" he did it again, as though trying to drown Ron. Ron was able to disarm Harry through the water. Harry's wand went flying, he didn't care. He was so full of pent up rage, confusion, sadness, and every other emotion that he didn't even go for his wand. He lunged at Ron and tackled him to the floor. They fought barehanded. Harry pinned Ron to the ground and started hitting him in the face,
"Death Eater! You fucking Death Eater!" Ron gurgled through the blood in his mouth. Harry laughed loudly, "Death Eater? That's what you think I am, a Death Eater? You wish I was a Death Eater!" He got real close to Ron's ear and whispered, "I'm so much more than that." He got back up and drew his hand back for another punch, but was suddenly blasted off Ron. Harry got up to see who he'd have to fight next, but he found himself face-to-face with Severus Snape. Snape glared at him. "What do you think you're doing?"
Harry spat blood, "Teaching someone a lesson."
"Last I checked you were not a professor at this school and therefore it is not your job to be teaching anyone anything, Lestrange!" Ginny, Fred, and George came running into the bathroom, crowded around their wounded brother.
"Detentions! Both of you, starting tomorrow," Snape announced.
"What? Why is Ron getting detention? The Lestrange boy nearly killed him." Fred argued.
"I'm pondering putting your brother in detention with a troll, maybe it will teach him to fight." Snape shrugged. Harry and a few other students laughed. Snape dismissed the students, Harry shot Ron one last deadly look before filing out with everyone else.
"Oh, Harry! Oh my Harry, are you okay?" Pansy wept as they made their way into the hallway. She began fussing over his face, he pushed her away, "Stop it alright?" he lectured her. Pansy stepped away from him but still made sure to follow him close up to the Slytherin common room.

"You just couldn't help yourself, could you? You've got a temper just like your father!" Wormtail squeaked in rat form while riding Harry's shoulder.
"Shut it or I'll take you to the Owlery and let them have their way with you," Harry sneered through gritted teeth. Wormtail was accompanying him on his detention with Professor Lupin and Ron. It was the first day of Christmas break, Harry never went home for the holidays anyway so this was no different than any other year. When Harry got to Lupin's classroom Ron was already there, sitting in one of the front seats while Lupin sat on his desk.
"Come on in Harry!" Lupin said happily. Harry took a seat at the front table as well, but far from Ron.
"You know, I never believed in manual labor as punishment, I think the best way to punish you both is to make you learn a bit about each other," Lupin informed them. Wormtail squeaked on Harry's shoulder, Lupin looked intensely at the rat.
"I'll start the conversation, Harry, where did you get your pet rat?" Lupin added.
"He was a gift from my mother" Harry lied, " for my 13th birthday." Lupin nodded knowingly.
"Alright… Now ask a question to Ron."
Harry turned his chair to Ron, "Why are you such a nosy virgin?"
Ron began to argue but Lupin cut him off, "You know that's not what I meant Harry."
"You asked me to ask him something I wanted to know, that's what I wanted to know" Harry replied innocently.
"I've got one then!" Ron said loudly while turning red, "Are you or are you not a Death Eater?"
"Not yet" Harry smiled evilly.
"That's not something to be cheeky about Harry, that is a serious matter-" Lupin began.
"He just admitted it! He just admitted to being a Death Eater! In fact in the bathrooms, he told me he was much more than that!" Ron interjected.
"You're pathetic Weasley. Of course I'm not more than a Death Eater, nobody can be more than Lord Voldemort!" Ron squeaked upon hearing the name.
Harry let on a huge smile, "Does that scare you? Are you afraid of his name too? Voldemort? Voldemort, Voldemort" Harry chanted. Ron looked panicked, "Stop it you prat, stop it!"
The boys continued, Lupin shouted "ENOUGH! That's it, maybe manual labor will do you good, I'll have you both picking out seeds from the Forbidden Forest, it's a lovely night and…" Lupin trailed off as soon as he looked out the window. He then muttered something about a potion and ran from the room. When he did not return for an hour, Harry made the suggestion that Ron should leave while Harry looked for him. Ron adamantly objected to this and told Harry to go away while he looked for him. Harry, who was hoping to be alone with Lupin to kill him, objected to Ron's objection. In the end, they agreed to just look for Lupin together.
"This doesn't make us mates," Harry whispered to Ron while they walked around the dark and silent castle.
"Thank God." Ron spat. They decided to search outside, where Lupin had wanted them to be. They walked the grounds with their wands lit, they made the choice to go into the Forbidden Forest.
"What if this is just some ploy to get us to work together?" Ron suggested after 2 hours of searching and no Lupin in sight.
"Then we take this damned punishment like good little boys and never speak to each other again," Harry told him. Wormtail began squeaking on Harry's shoulder, Harry was getting annoyed and went to put him in his pocket when a sudden rush like a person running past them shook the leaves on the trees.
"What the hell was that?" Ron asked, a shiver in his voice. "OUCH!" Harry shrieked, Wormtail had bitten his finger and ran off, "You little shit." Harry said, holding his bleeding finger.
Both boys were shaken, Harry was trying to hide it better. "Maybe we should go back? Go back to the classroom and wait for him." Ron stuttered in fear.
"Don't be such a baby!" Harry rolled his eyes, "The stories about this forest are myths." Just as he said that there was a high pitched shriek and the sound of a spell being blasted in the distance. Harry and Ron moved closer together. "There's nothing in here. We're totally safe" Harry said, trying to make himself feel better. "There's nothing in here but unicorns and bugs and… WEREWOLVES!" It only took one look at the half-man half-wolf creature to send Harry running for his life.
"Don't just stand there Ron RUN!" Harry said from a distance. He didn't look back but behind him, he could hear the stomping of the werewolf and the screaming and scattering of Ron. He ran all the way through the forest until he was stopped by a large steep hill. Ron must've not seen the wall of Earth and ran into it. Harry looked from the hill to Ron then behind them, the werewolf was ascending onto them.
"Can you climb? We have to climb it." Harry told him. Ron, rubbing his head, nodded and they began to climb. The werewolf watched them for a moment, then began to climb too. Harry and Ron screamed as they tried to climb faster. Just then, the scream they'd heard earlier was heard again. This intrigued the werewolf, it jumped off the hill and ran in the other direction. Harry and Ron finished climbing then sat at the top, panting.
"What.. the… hell!" Harry said in between trying to catch his breath. "What kind of school is this? They've got werewolves in the forest? What's next?"
Ron stood up, "I don't know, and I'm not sticking around to find out. We should've left when I said to!"
"Get your panties out of your ass" Harry snapped back to him, "Let's just leave now then and-" A streak of light hit Ron in the back, he hit the ground, obviously stunned.
"WEASLEY!" Harry shouted, crawling over to him. He turned Ron over and saw he was still breathing, luckily the hit hadn't killed him. Harry looked in the direction of the spell, he stood and held his own wand. A man came into light from between the trees. In one hand he held a limp Wormtail, in the other his wand. Harry's breathing stopped, before him stood Sirius Black.
"Harry?" the man croaked, he looked absolutely mad. Harry suddenly forgot every spell he's ever learned.
"Get away from me!" Harry threatened, wand shaking. Sirius let out a light laugh, "You're just a child, look at you… What have they done to you…"
"I don't know what you're talking about, don't come any closer!" Harry said, moving back as the man inched closer to him.
"Harry, you look just like him… Just like... but with Lily's eyes." Sirius was saying, this entirely freaked Harry out, "Whos that? Who's Lily?"
"They'll forgive me, everyone will forgive me, once I have you."
"No, STOP!" Harry cried. Sirius shouted in pain, but Harry had not hit him with a spell. It looked like Wormtail had woken up and bit his hand, he stayed latched on as Sirius tried to shake him off. Harry thought quickly, he shot the only spell his could think of at the moment, the stunning spell. He hit Sirius Black square in the chest. Sirius' eyes were wide, unblinking. He started to fall, only he was too close to the top of the hill. When he fell, he fell over the edge, and took the long, fast drop. Harry scurried over to the ledge, he forced himself to look over. There was no doubt in the situation, Sirius Black was dead.
