Chapter 10

Malachi Parker stood at the door to the Salvatore house staring Damon in the eyes. Damon had blown up after learning that his Mommy Dearest was actually a ripper of epic proportions. He knew he needed space after that, but time was really of the essence. He knew by the change in their routines that Bonnie was back.

He had spent months tracking Damon and Bonnie on the other Other side. And there was something else. Something small that he had missed.

Somehow, even with his outbursts, Kai knew that Damon was hiding something, something besides Bonnie's epic return.

Damon had seen his mother on the tapes Bonnie had brought home with her on the old camcorder that they used to share. He hadn't even begun to believe she could have been alive all this time.

Of course, just then the powerful and slightly even more creepy than before he got emotions from Luke, leader of the Gemini's showed up asking questions about seeing Bonnie again.

First of all, how did he even know she was back? Creep.

The two blue eyed men stared at each other.

Kai had somehow let it slip that he knew how to retrieve his mother from her 1903 prison world, but he refused to divulge that information without seeing Bonnie.

He had been feeling some type of way about how he had tortured his wife, and wanted to apologize. Normally, Damon wouldn't think twice about saying no and slamming the proverbial door in his face. But now, having his wife back and meeting his daughter, he wondered at the possibility of enlarging his family further.

"Get out" he breathed darkly.

Damon had learned a long time ago, that a little intimidation, a little exaggeration of the anger, a little grandiose display of power, went a long way in stalling. And right now, he needed time.

Bonnie glanced at her watch. When she should be enjoying a girls night out rave, blowing off a little steam with her best friends, she was babysitting… greeeaattt.

She missed her husband. Being back here with so many people who were noisome and aggressive and pushy was making her head spin.

The number of hot guys here was irrelevant to her now that all she wanted to see was Damon. But no, she had to make sure Caro didn't go off the rails and end up massacring the whole Whitmore student body with her bloodlust.

Some rando grinding on her couldn't take the hint to leave her alone, so when he told her she was hot, well, she took the initiative to show him just how hot she could be.

Poor guy.

Some kind of way she found herself at the top of the party. Glancing through the crowd and looking for any signs of distress. Suddenly, she felt a little buzz in her pocket.

It was her husband.

"You have no idea how good it is to hear your voice" she said smoothly into the phone.

She knew his hearing would pick up her every intonation, and he stifled a sigh on the other end even as a chill ran up his spine at the meaning in her words.

"Oh, Bonnie"

He hadn't told her the reason he was coming to see her. Only that he had compelled an army of sitters at the Lake House (mostly grannies) and was coming to get his rave on.

Corny, I know, but it made her laugh, so he was good.

He was selfish, and he knew it. But one day he would get it right. Just not today.

Damon found Bonnie in the hallway behind the main room of the event, seeking solace in the much smaller number of people there.

When she saw him, her eyes lit up and he felt a sting of pain in his chest. He hoped against hope that he would only ruin things for a moment.

"Damon," she sighed gratefully. He smiled back tightly, more like a grimace.

"Bonnie, don't freak out okay?" side stepping out of the way, Damon watched her face distort with rage as she saw Kai emerge.

"B-Bonnie, h-hi" his stammers were accompanied by shaking limbs and sweating palms as Bonnie turned her powerful gaze from one nervous man to the other.

"Why did you bring him here?" She blazed.

"He, uh, he wanted to apologize"

Bonnie looked incredulous, and Kai thought that he would die a stiff death by the way she stared at him.

"Bonnie, I am so sorry. For everything I did to you. I just want you to know th-"

"Say one more word to me and I will end you, right where you stand!"

Her voice was forceful, full of promise to do everything she said she would and more.

"Bonnie, please -" Damon began to reason with her, but she held up a hand.

"Don't speak to me"

Brusquely, she smashed past the two men. Stomping out the door that she flung open with a mere thought, leaving the two men staring after her.

On the street as she walked to her car she hear Caroline throwing herself at Enzo, desperately trying to seduce him. She was too aggravated by the events of the day by now, and dismissed the idea of stepping in to intervene.

She had no idea the consequences.

A/N: Thanks for the love and support, I aim to please!
