Ch.10
Jane was for lack of a better word ecstatic, she was going to meet more family, that word still made her feel funny but good and strangely complete some how. She couldn't understand why she felt like that but she didn't really think much about it, right now all she could think about was what her new ' MOM ' was goona be like. But as soon as she started to think like that all the excitement drained right out of her at once, ' what if she doen't like me, or if she doesen't want another girl in her family, or what if...'. These and many more questions started to fly through her head and without realising it she was showing her emotions to everyone, however in the time that she was thinking this she had entered the medbay and climbed onto a bed and was waiting for Karin to finish her examination. The Doctor spotted the chage in her persona immediately and became concerned for her, " Jane sweet heart are you ok, you look like something is bothering you." Jane was broken from her thoughts once she heard Karin's voice and snapped her head up to look straight at her. As soon as she did however she ducked her head down straight away and looked at the floor but not at anyone place and began to fiddle with her hands, " what if she dosen't like me, or she doesn't want me what will I do then, can I still...", Jane looked up at Karin with big doe eyes as if she was going to be told off for something. Karin looked straight at her and gently smiled, she shook her head and gently replied to Jane " Jane sweet heart you have absolutely nothing to be afraid of, I can tell you right now that Hannah will be more than overjoyed to have you as a daughter we may even have to keep an eye on her so she dosen't try and take you with her when she does leave." That earned a small but happy laugh from Jane, not only that but she looked like all the worry and fear from before had just been completely destroyed and forgotten about.
With a deep sigh of relief Jane nodded to Karin and sat alittle straighter on the bed waiting, Karin then began to finish off Janes physical exam. Meanwhile back in the mess hall Sara and Liara were sitting with James,Sam and Ashley having a pleasant and relaxed sitting and talking about what needed to be done Sam suddenly remembered something she wanted to ask Sara since she came back onboard. " Sara would you mind answering something for me, if you don't mind its something that has been rolling around in my head for sometime ", Sara looked at Sam smiled and nodded for her to continue. Sam straightened herself and looked Sara dead in the eye as she spoke " well..the thing is..I have been wondering how, you suddenly realised that we could save EDI and the Geth, I mean how did you come to the conclusion that we could save them at all." Sara sat there and a evil smirk started to form on her face " Well Sam I can answer your question very simply...Screamer ", Sara sat staring at Sam with a big smile on her face. Sam was staring back at her with a complete look of confusion and bewilderment along with Ashley as well, James was the only one who knew what Sara was talking about with an enthusiastic laugh. This caused Sam and Ash to look at him like he had just gone off the deep end, Sara however started to giggle with her evil smirk still firmly set on her face. Liara was smilimg throughout this little episode, she knew exactly what they were laughing about as soon as she heard Sara say 'Screamer', she herself had been a victim to the horrible little monster.
Sam decided that she wanted an answer to her question, " Well as much as I am sure that that answer was fun for all of you, I am still curious as what helped you to come to your conclusion ", Sara eventually calmed down and then looked to Ash and Sam, " Do you remember the leviathan incident, how we had to go chasing them all over the place ", as if talking to a group of children listening to a fairy tale, Ash and Sam both nodded their heads and stared at Sara as if she was the only thing in the room. Sara then carried on with her story " Well James here decided to visit us on one occasion when we were looking for them, and found something to keep him occupied for awhile ". As Sara finished this sentence she looked over to James, who was still trying to calm his laughter fit, and shook her head with a smirk on her face.
At this Ashley was starting to get alittle worried, she remembered what happened to and how he was murdered by his indoctrinated assistant, but she decided she'll wait and see where this tale was going. Sara however picked up on Ashley's how body becoming tense and knew why," Before you start screaming ' INDOCTRINATION! ' Ash what Vega found is harmless, more or less, but extremely funny in the right YEOW!." Sara turned suddenly to a very irate looking Liara," But I wouldn't recommend you listen to me on that subject ", hissing while also rubbing her very sore shin from the boot which had decided to remind her that she still wasn't fully forgiven yet for their lillte stunt. Ashley knew that something had happened but could never find out what it was, as for Sam she was completely lost at this point so just sat and listened. Ashley at this point just wanted to get an answer to their ealier question, and to find out WHO or WHAT Screamer was," so getting back on track how did you figure out that everything could be repaired." After almost rubbing her shin raw from the painful reminder of her prank Sara started to explain," well Screamer is a Husk head that had somehow managed to mount to a small stand, oh and he's still alive...conscoius...hmm...well anyway whatever he is he's still scaring the piss out of anyone who's not prepared." Ashley sat with a furrowed brow staring at Sara, Sam stared at Sara and then to the grinning Vega until she broke the silence," so you have a Husk living in your room with you, watching you all the time...UUhhraaa that's just creepy." Liara at this point decided to get involved " Screamer is kept in the dark with a special sheet that covers him so he can't SEE anything at all, so you have nothing to worry about Sam", as Liara explained she pointedly looked straight at Sara, who started looking everywhere and scatched behind her left ear.
Thankfully at this point Karin and Jane came walking out of the Medbay, with Jane smiling and if by magic changing the whole atmosphere of the room. Sara immediately leapt out of her chair and embraced Jane in a tight hug," So Doc how's are patient doing is she fit and able." Karin watched both of them hug one another as if they had been doing it all their lives," Well Admiral I can say with 100% certainity that Jane is perfectly healthy and fit." " Well thats good to hear ", Sara replied while squeezing Jane alittle closer, Jane just smiled and snuggled deeper into this little scene was taking place the 'BreakFast Club' was watching with smiles and giggles, Samthen remembered that Hannah Shepard was going to arrive very shortly, " Um Sara isn't your mother going to arrive any minute, shouldn't you go and get ready and welcome her aboard, and of course introduce her to her new daughter." Sara had turned towards Sam and the others while she was being reminded of her mothers arrival, once she had remembered she looked down at Jane with a big smile. " Well Sam's right OUR mom will be here shortly so lets go say hi ok ",Jane nodded her head, and both left the mess hall to make their way to the Normady's main airlock to welcome their mother.
