"They're all out there, beautiful. Are you sure you're comfortable with this?" Kurt hooked his fingers into Blaine's collar, his nails resting on his pulse.
Blaine nodded, "Yes, Sir. I'm ready when you are."
Kurt took a deep breath, "You can kneel if you want to, or sit beside me, whatever you're comfortable with. If at any point you want to leave, tell me. If you can't speak or get my attention, tap my leg three times. You can add anything you like, or you can stay silent the whole time. If someone asks you a question but you don't want to answer, just shake your head and I'll answer it to the best of my ability. Any questions?"
"No, Sir."
"Okay," Kurt took his hand, squeezing it gently, before leading him out of the curtain.
The girls were sitting on the couch and Elliot was in the recliner farthest away from Rachel, eyeing her warily. They all looked up when Kurt and Blaine walked in. Kurt was tense, his grip on Blaine's hand almost painful. Kurt sat down on the lard lounge chair, big enough to hold both of them but Blaine sunk to his knees beside Kurt, smiling up at him. Kurt swallowed, his threading his fingers in Blaine's hair before turning his attention to the others.
"I don't know what you all know, or want to know so we'll stick with a basic question and answer scheme. If Blaine doesn't want to talk, he doesn't have to, and if you make him feel uncomfortable we will leave, understood?" He gave them all a challenging look that Blaine rolled his eyes at. Kurt didn't have to be so tense, really.
"Yes, Sir," Santana said jokingly and everyone glared at her.
Kurt looked expectantly at everyone else and they all mumbled, "yes, Kurt," before he nodded.
"Who wants to start?"
Elliot raised his hand timidly, his eyes darting between the floor, Kurt, and Blaine. "How did you figure out that this was the dynamic for you?"
"Porn," Blaine blurted and Kurt gave him a really? look, "What? It's true. Well, for me. I mean, when you get a hard on from videos of guys being spanked you just kinda know," he shrugged and Elliot smiled at him, laughing.
Kurt shook his head, rolling his eyes, "I realized it because of how much calmer Blaine seemed to be when I told him what to do, that he liked when I ordered him around. He also liked being lower than me, always sitting on the floor when we would watch movies, or worked on homework."
Elliot nodded, "Yeah, yeah, I was kinda like that too. Liked making myself as small as possible, especially when I was anxious, or scared."
Blaine's eyes widened, "Small spaces are the best, I used to hide in my closet or under my bed, I-I've been asking for a cage but… it's not something that's exactly easy to hide… maybe now that you all know…" Blaine looked up at Kurt hopefully.
"I'll look into it," Kurt said.
Blaine's grin widened but then fell when he turned around and saw the horrified look on Rachel's face. Kurt stiffened, his jaw clenching.
"I-I'm sorry," Rachel stuttered, "I want to understand and I'm trying, but… a cage, Blaine? You're-you're not an animal, I don't—why?"
"It wouldn't be an animal cage, Rachel," Kurt hissed.
"Sir, please," Blaine put a calming hand on Kurt's knee, waiting until he looked down at him, "let me," Kurt nodded stiffly and Blaine turned back to Rachel, "Everyone has a place that makes them feel safe, when they're scared or upset. My place, isn't a place, it's Kurt. And as amazing as he is, he can't always be with me, he can try, but it's just not physically possible. Having a cage would be kind of like he's with me when he's not, the bars are like his arms, holding me and making me feelcompletely safe and protected. No one would be able to hurt me in there, and it would just be my little place. I don't know if I'm explaining it right, or if it makes any sense—"
"It does, sorta. I mean, I still don't completely get it, because I'm not you and that would never work for me,but I kinda get it from your perspective, a little. So it's less of a cage and more of a… safety blanket, kinda thing."
"Exactly."
Rachel smiled brightly at him, proud for understanding, then he brow furrowed, "Is that what bondage is like for you too? You seem perfectly content with the collar and at the club, the leash seemed to relax you even more, is it the same basic principle?"
Blaine nodded, "Yeah, it's just another extension of Kurt that makes me feel safe and reminds me that I'm his."
Rachel bit her lip, fidgeting with her hands in her lap, "When you say that… it sounds like he owns you—"
"He does."
"I… that just sounds wrong," she glanced at Kurt nervously, not wanting to anger him, "like you're less than him, like a slave or an animal."
Kurt growled, his eyes flashing.
"I'm sorry!" Rachel said, pushing herself back against the couch, "I'm not judging or saying he is, I just don't know how else to word that."
"Sir, I—"
"No, I got this one, pet." Kurt took a deep breath to calm himself, "Blaine is mine, and that may sound weird, and strange to you but it's true. He gives himself to me in a completely different way than in a normal relationship, there's an intense amount of trust that goes into this type of thing and normal sayings just don't apply to us. You love someone and you say they're mine and I'm theirs, and that's just not powerful enough for us. It's true, but it's so much more than that too. Heart, soul, body, and mind, Blaine is mine, and as his Dom I can get very possesive, so own is a more applicable term for us.
It doesn't mean he's my slave, he still has his free agency and he can tell me to stop at any time with one simple word and I'll let him go, you saw that last night. He listens to me because he wants to, he says I own him because he wants to be owned, it's a whole new level of intimacy that is difficult for those who haven't felt it to understand completely."
"So, you don't look at him like he's less than you?"
"No," Kurt shook his head, "we haven't always been like this, and so first and foremost he is my beautiful and amazing boyfriend who always finds new ways to show me he loves me and trusts me, and this is just one of those ways. If we desperately had to we could probably go back to being just Kurt and Blaine, not Sir and pet, but we don't want to… and our lives are so much better with this dynamic."
"How so?" Dani asked, her head cocked to the side as she watched them curiously.
Kurt looked down at Blaine, his eyebrows raised in a silent question. Blaine nodded.
"Blaine has anxiety," Kurt paused, contemplating leaving it at that.
"And depression," Blaine added quietly.
Kurt smiled gently down at him, reaching out to cup his cheek, "Brave boy," he whispered. Blaine had never told anyone but Kurt, and then Kurt had told his dad which ended up being really good for when Kurt was gone in New York, then Burt could help him through his rough patches. It just wasn't something he liked drawing attention to.
"Do you want to…?"
Blaine shook his head.
Kurt nodded and then returned his attention to the others, "He always tries to be perfect, which can be a great quality, unless you push yoursel too far, then it just makes everything worse. He would set ridculous standards for himself and then beat himself up when he couldn't meet them. He'd want everyone to love him and then find everything that wasn't perfect about himself when someone didn't and blame it on that." His therapist said it was primarly caused by his desperation to get his father's approval after he came out, and when he couldn't get through to him, he blamed it all on himself.
"This helps, because he's not setting the standards, I am, and they're much more reasonable. And if he does mess up, I punish him and then all is forgotten, he doesn't constantly think of it and tell himself how terrible he is for it. And he doesn't have to prove himself to anyone else, just me. We had some issues with that in the beginning, but now he doesn't care what others think. If I aprove and I love him, no one else matters."
Blaine smiled softly at him, his life really was so much better when he just trusted Kurt with everything. He rested his head on Kurt's knee, sighing contentedly.
Dani grinned watching them, "Does it help you at all, or is it just the satisfaction of knowing he's better because of this?"
"Kurt likes to be in control," Blaine said.
"It's true, I think it's one of those things that came along with everything being so out of my control in high school, and I really hated that. Having Blaine being so willing to be so perfectly obedient was an incredible blessing, it made me feel less like I was drifting and just being shoved around, and it gave me something to anchor me, hold me down. Also having someone who would just listen to me and do what I wanted instead of fighting me because they thought their way was best," he looked pointedly at Rachel who blushed and ducked her head, "was incredible. Having someone trust you that much is exhilerating."
"Isn't it scary though," Dani asked, "I mean, you say jump he says how high, that level of commitment… wouldn't you feel like you could hurt him on accident one day?"
"It was… at first. But then I got used to it. He also has his safeword that I trust him to use whenever he gets scared or thinks I might be wrong about something. He's not the only one that has to trust in this relationship, it goes both ways."
"Can I ask what your limits are?" Elliot said suddenly, looking at Blaine.
"Oh, sure," Blaine said startled, "bloodplay, heat play, and sharing are my only real hard limits, other than of course the ridiculously gross ones that I wouldn't even think of mentioning because there's no way Kurt would ever want to do them."
"Watersports and scat?" Elliot questioned.
"Exactly."
"People do that?" Rachel asked horrified.
Kurt shrugged, "Everyone has their own kinks."
"But no sharing, Blaine, you don't want to have kinky threesomes?" Santana said.
Blaine's eyes narrowed, "Kurt's mine."
Dani laughed, "I guess the Dom's not the only one that can be possessive."
Kurt scratched Blaine's scalp soothingly.
"What about soft limits?" Elliot asked.
Blaine swallowed, "I don't like being left alone… or dirty talk really. Exhibitionism worries me too sometimes. What we did at the club is really as far as I'll go. Other than that, I'm pretty flexible and willing to try most things."
"Hah," Santana scoffed, "I'm sure Kurt likes your flexibility, hobbit."
"Yes," Kurt said, a small smirk on his face "yes I do."
Dani, Elliot, and Santana laughed while Kurt kept a straight face and Blaine and Rachel blushed.
"So you don't like exhibitionism among strangers, but what about with friends?" Dani wiggled her eyebrows at Blaine whose eyes widened.
Rachel gaped, "I don't want to see that!"
"You wouldn't have to watch, Berry," Santana snapped, "It'd just be for Dani and I… and maybe Elliot if he was interested in watching too. Whadaya say, Klaine, would you be willing to give us a demonstration sometime?"
Blaine looked up at Kurt who shrugged, "Umm…" Blaine cleared his throat, "m-maybe?"
—
Santana and Dani were making out on the couch and Blaine and Elliot were sitting by the window talking quietly later that night while Kurt and Rachel ordered pizza on his laptop.
"Thank you for being so patient with me, Kurt," she said as he closed the computer and set it to the side, "I'm really trying to understand and I think I realize now you guys need this." She glanced over at Blaine who was nodding along excitedly to something Elliot was saying. "He really seems to happy, I never would have guessed he had depression. It's clearly working…"
Kurt smiled, "So you approve?"
"I would never be able to do a relationship like it, but yeah, I approve of you guys. Can I just make one rule for you guys though?"
Kurt's eyes narrowed and he nodded.
"Please no sex on the shared surfaces."
