It had been a few weeks since the whole Lucifer incident and surprisingly it had been pretty quiet considering Death had been risen. We were working another case, someone that the brothers knew their babysitter if I remembered right - Donna. Dean pulled the impala up outside a two story house, as soon as Donna opened the door a smile grew on her face, ''Dean and Sammy Winchester, and who's this little lady?''
''This is Paige''
She welcomed us into her home and told us to take a seat, she returned from the kitchen with a pitcher of lemonade and a plate of cookies, as well as who I could only presume as her teenage daughter. ''So, how long has it been?''
''The summer before 6th grade'' Sam answered with a smile, ''Mmm, I remember. You assigned yourself your own reading list'' Causing Dean to chuckle, ''That's right, I forgot about that''
''Your mom happens to be the best babysitter we ever had'' Sam said to her daughter, the woman nodded, ''Well, when I was a maid at the Mayflower, out on the interstate – long before you were even an idea – their daddy used to pass through town and leave the boys with me while he went off to... work. One time, he was gone for two weeks.''
''Two weeks?'' She asked in disbelief, ''Mm-hmm. Oh, he'd always come limping back. He loved you boys.''
''Little Sammy kept trying to tell me. Of course, I didn't believe him. Not at first, anyway.''
''Katie, our dad, um, happened to be an expert at getting rid of ghosts. And now, so are we.'' Donna nodded, ''That's why I called them, sweetie. They can help us.'' A man came into the room carrying suitcases, ''Sounds like you guys got yourself a poltergeist''
''Started a month or two after we moved in.'' The man spoke, ''Yeah, first it was, uh, just bumps and knocks and scratches on the walls. And then it started breaking things.''
''And then it attacked, Katie?''
''That was two nights ago''
''Can you show them honey?'' Katie nodded and stood up of the sofa, she pulled up her shirt to reveal the words that had been sliced into her skin I winced, ''Looks like that hurt''
''Murdered Chylde.'' Sam muttered under his breath, ''Katie, everything's gonna be fine. I promise. Why don't you guys take yourselves a little vacation, and, uh, we'll take care of it.''
''Thank you''
There wasn't much that we could so at the house and Dean was complaining that he couldn't work on an empty stomach so we left to go and get some food. I sat with Sam his face buried in his laptop like always, Dean came over with our orders, I wasn't particularly hungry so I just got a sandwich; Sam ordered his usual which was a salad but this came in a cup… Yeah I know kinda weird but it is Sam Winchester. Sam added dressing to his salad in a cup and started to shake it to which Dean and I tried our best not to laugh at. What it's strange?
''Oh, you shake it up, baby. You know, poltergeist aside, Donna looked pretty good, don't you think?''
''Dude, don't tell me you've still got the hots for our babysitter.''
''Dean used to like his babysitter?''
''What? No. That's weird.'' Dean chuckled, ''I'm just saying that she, you know, she – she's – she's doing good. You know, with her husband, her kid. This whole Amityville thing being thrown at them, and they're hanging tough.''
''Especially Katie, I hope her wounds don't scar'' Both Sam and Dean nodded in agreement, ''So, Yeah. What you got?'' Sam's laptop keyboard clicked a few times, ''Uh, well, that house of theirs, it's old – really old. Um, hundreds of years. And I found a legend. It's unconfirmed, but still.''
''Saying?''
''Supposedly, in the 1720s, the house was owned by a guy named Isaiah Pickett.'' Sam turns his laptop around so that Dean and I can see, it's a website simply titled witchcraft. ''Legend has it he hung a woman in his backyard for witchcraft – a woman named Maggie Briggs.''
As I was listen to Sam and Dean talk I could help but feel like we were being watched making me shiver slightly, it was a creepy feeling I looked around the room but could see who it was.
''Paige you coming?''
''O-Oh, yeah!''
Sam made Dean drop him off at the library, so me and Dean went to find a motel for us all to stay at for the case, after booking the room Dean simply dropped one of his bags on the bed, unfortunately we could only get a room with two bed, looks like one of us was sleeping on the couch and it sure wasn't going to be me. ''Sam's not here so I'm taking this bed!''
''Don't think he'd appreciate that'' Dean chuckled I shrugged, ''Ya snooze ya lose, simple''
For the next couple of hours Dean and I spent our time watching - really bad - TV it seemed to be a guilty pleasure of Dean's as he cleaned his guns, ''Where the hell is, Sam?'' Dean growled as he threw his phone down on the bed, ''Wanna go to the library to see if he's there?''
Dean grabbed the keys to the impala, leaving everything out on display. I pulled the cover of the bed over the guns to hide them just in case. Sam wasn't at the library so we drove around time for a short while until Dean got bored and we went back to the motel, I was sure as hell not expecting Sam to already been back.
''Sam. Where the hell you been, man? I've been trying to call you for hours.'' Sam jumped practically half a mile, ''I picked up some food. Bacon burger turbo, large chilli-cheese fry, right? Sorry, man. Really. I-I just – I lost track of time. I didn't mean to freak you out.''
Dean quite happily took the bag, ''Thanks. Don't know why it took you two hours, but thanks. he spoke as he sat down, ''Oh, you're gonna want to eat that on the road.''
''Why?''
''The maid came in, saw that'' Sam pointed to the now uncovered weapons, ''The maid came in, saw that''
''I pulled the covers over for a reason, Sam!'' He held up his arms in defense, ''Why'd you let the maid in?''
''It just happened.'' Dean sighed in frustration, ''Whatever. I got to hit the head, and then we'll take off.''
''All right. I-I'll be outside.''
Oh-kay that is not Sam, deffo not Sam, far from him. If it wasn't Sam then who is it? What if Sam's been taken? I have to do something, I fished in my bag and pulled out some Holy water, that was held in a silver flask and poured some of the water on one of my shirts. I let out a breath and stepped outside, ''Sam?''
''Yes?'' He asked a little out of breath I held up the flask for him to take, ''Is the lid on right? It leaked in my bag'' He took it from me and messed around with the lid, ''Yeah it's on -'' He was cut off mid sentence when my wet shirt hit him in the face, he didn't scream out in pain or anything just simply pulled it off and wiped his face with his sleeve. ''Thanks Sam.'' Okay, so it isn't a shifter and he it isn't Sam possessed so why is he acting so weird? We both climbed into the Impala, even more surprisingly Sam asked to drive and managed to crash into a dumpster, ''Dean, you drive! I don't wanna die!''
The next morning didn't clear things up, Sam was well, not Sam. Dean didn't seem to notice much of a change until I told him that that guy was one hundred percent no Sam. Though he wasn't Sam he did seem to know a lot about our case, apparently the woman we are looking for is not buried under a tree but buried in a basement, I see imposter Sam can come in handy at some point.
We walked into the abandoned house where the ghost of Maggie Briggs, ''Boo-yah! Master chief is in the house, bizatches!'' Dean and I shared glance, ''Are you all right?''
''Yeah. Fine'' Dean shrugged his shoulders and I rolled my eyes, Dean could share be oblivious when he wanted to, ''Is that Willow moss?'' I asked, ''Well, I'll be damned. it is Willow moss.''
''Yeah, right. It's, uh, supposed to grow over witches' graves, right?''
''Yeah'' Dean answered, slightly hesitantly as if Sam should already know the answer to that. I'd now given up on telling Dean that this person was not Sam but he didn't seem to think anything was wrong. Dean dropped his duffle on the ground and started to pull out shovels, he handed me the salt and the lighter fluid, Dean starting the task of digging luckily it was a shallow grave so not much work had to be put into it. I was busy focusing on Dean as he moved the dirt away uncovering the bones, I opened up the tin of salt careful not to spill any.
''Hey, man, I'm really sorry about this.''
''Sorry about what?''
Sam was suddenly pushed back against the wall with force, ''Sam, You okay?''
I poured the salt over the bones as Dean was helping 'Sam' get up, ''Let's get the hell out of here!''
''Wait, wait, wait. We still got to burn the body, you idiot. Come on.'' It was then Dean's turn to be thrown into the wall, I poured the lighter fluid over the bones and fished in my pockets to get the lighter only to find it to not be there, ''Dean! The lighter!''
The ghost appeared in front of Dean and charged towards him before she reached him she burst into flames, I turned around to find Sam stood near the now burning grave with a lighter in his hand. ''Dude, that was sweet!''
It was late when we got back, so Dean obviously wanted to go to the bar to have a drink I didn't want to leave him with imposter Sam but after watching the guy nearly wet his pants over a tiny ghost hunt I realized that he was no threat at all. Dean dropped me off at a motel, right now I was really worried about Sam there had to be something that I could do. With a heavy sigh I sat on my knees on the bed and clasped my hands in my lap, I closed my eyes and concentrated. Right now I was trying to channel Sam - like I could do with Bill - After five minutes I got nothing just white noise but I wasn't going to give up. I called out Sam's name repeatedly in my head, an image flashed right before me but quickly went away, I concentrated harder and slowly it started to come back, it was a house; ''Sam! Sam where are you?!'' I called out in my head and surely enough the house number and street popped up.
I came out of my trance like state with a gasp, I was now flat on my back a pounding headache surging through my brain, as I slowly sat up my nose started to bleed. My head surged with pain and I grunt as I pulled myself up, stumbling slightly. Pulling my jacket on I left the motel room not before scribbling a note for Dean. I had no idea where this house was so I stopped people along my way, pretending that one of my siblings was staying over there which people seemed to buy. After a long half and hour walk I reached the house, I knew that Sam was inside but I didn't know who else was. I creeped up to the window and peeked inside, from where I was I couldn't see anything so, might as well take a leap of fate. The door was left open, soundlessly I opened in and tiptoed in.
''What the hell is going on here? How do you know who Dean is?''
''Everybody knows Dean. He's Hell's most wanted.''
''Oh, no. No. Have you idiots been talking to demons?''
''Oh, right. We're the idiots.''
I peered around the corner of the wall, they were teenagers? With no threat present I stepped out of my hiding spot. ''Sam?''
''Paige?''
The one that answered me was a young really nerdy look boy with black hair, ''Oh so you're the one that's walking around in Sam right now''
''Oh my god, Paige, Paige the freaking Cambion!'' My eyes moved from Sam and to another teenager with curly blonde hair, ''The demons talk a lot about you'' My eyes widened, these idiots actually spoke with Demons, does he not know the danger that they have put themselves in?
''Talking with Demons? Guess you are a stupid as you look. Nothing good will come of it''
He barked out a laugh and starting spewing out this plan that a boy called Gary had come up with, I'm guessing that's the boy that is currently in Sam's body right now. ''Listen to me. You are making a terrible mistake. We're talking about a demon deal – killing somebody. This isn't a game. You're crossing a line you won't come back from. Believe me.''
The girl l- who I now knew as Nora - Looked to Trevor in alarm; ''Its true, Demons are not something you shouldn't be messing with'' I said through gritted teeth as I held my head as another wave of pain shot through it. ''Nora, don't tell me you're actually listening to these jerks.''
''I don't know. M-maybe. I-I mean, what if they have a point?''
My body swayed and I stumbled to keep up on my feet, I'd definitely pushed myself too far. ''I don't believe this. First Gary, now you. I can't – you know what? Fine. You want something done right...''
''What, you're gonna – you're gonna go kill Dean yourself, tough guy?''
''Don't have to. I can do this.'' Trevor held up a book it's pages open on a demon summoning ritual, I did a running jump a very weak attempt to rip the book from him but Trevor simply moved out the way and I landed on my face - Nice going Paige, great work. I pushed myself up and turned around holding myself up on my elbows, I sent an apologetic look to Sam, ''Finding you was a lot harder than I expected'' I said with a groan.
''Don't worry about it, did you at least tell Dean?''
''I left a note''
Trevor came back into the room with the ingredients needed to perform the ritual, ''Don't do this. I'm begging you.''
''Trevor, I think he's right.'' Nora spoke, I nodded, ''Listen to Nora!''
''Hey, you want to get into Vassar, don't you?'' Trevor finished pouring the ingredients into the bowl, ''Please! Stop! You're gonna get us all killed!''
''Ad ligandum eos pariter eos coram me!'' Trevor shouted out finishing the spell, nothing happened; ''Maybe I said it wrong.'' Nora slumped down to the floor, this isn't good. ''Nora?''
''No! No, no! Don't touch her!''
''Nora, you okay?'' Nora looked up at him with a smile, her eyes turned black. ''Oh, yeah. I'm peachy.''
My body slumped back, why was I feeling so weak? It was unreal how I'd pushed myself it was a stupid move forcing the bond between Sam and I when it wasn't yet formed fully. Right now I just really hoped that Dean found my note.
Dean's P.O.V
He'd been so fucking stupid, he knew something was off with Sam yet he chose to ignore the signs, Paige - who had disappeared from the room - had told him many of times that something was wrong yet he just shrugged them off. He had Gary, the kid that was inside of Sam, tied to a chair; after he showed him where he'd thrown all his mobiles. He had listened to the voicemails, he turned to talk to Gary when he spotted blood on the bed, his mind reeled and he thought of paige.
There was a small scrap of paper left on the bedside table, an address had be scrawled on it there was no mistaking that it was Paige's handwriting, He held up the piece of paper for Gary to read, ''All right, pal. Either you start talking or I start waterboarding.''
''Oh, my God. Please, don't hurt me. Please! I'm sorry! I'm so, so sorry!''
''Hey, pull it together, champ.''
''I don't want to die. I don't want to die.''
''Where's Sam?''
''In my – my friend's basement. His parents are out of town. That's his address!'' Dean rushed to grab his keys, as he turned to open the door he was thrown into the wall and knocked clean out. When he came to he could hear someone talking to Gary, Lucifer was mention so it had to be a demon. Slowly Dean gripped the blade of his knife. ''Oh, but he's gonna want to meet you. Relax. It'll be easy. He's just gonna ask you one little question, and all you gotta do is say "yes". And then, you get your reward.''
Oh no way was this son of a bitch getting Sam like that, he shot up of the ground and swung at the demon but she caught his arm and thrown him to the ground, he looked up at Gary. ''Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus.''
At least the kid knows something useful, the demon let go of Dean and angrily stomped it way over to Gary, ''What was that?''
''Uh, n-nothing.''
''Were you trying exorcise me?! You little piece of crap!'' She grabbed Gary by the throat and lifted him up of the ground. ''Spiritus, omnis satanica potestas.'' The demon let go of Gary and looked at him, ''Omnis incursio infernalis adversii.'' Gary continued.
''Omnis congregatio.''
''Et secta diabolica.''
''Ergo, draco maledicte.''
''Ecclesiam tuam securi tibi facias libertate servire.''
''Te rogamus. Adios, bitch!''
''Uh, it's "adinos."''
The demon screamed and black smoke poured out of the girls mouth and left through a vent, the girl collapsed onto the floor. ''Get in the car''
They scrambled in and Dean made quick time of getting to this friends house. ''Sam! Paige!'' He ran into the living room to find a kid, which must be Gary's body tied up and Paige lied on the floor, ''Hey, you guys okay?''
Paige raised her arm up and held a thumbs up, ''M'good''
Paige P.O.V
I was sat on a chair watching as Gary prepared the ritual to swap them into the right bodies, ''Animae domum redeant. Fas atque nefas instauretur. Potestate et auctoritate, sic fiat.'' He dropped some powder into the bowl causing the flames to dance higher. Sam got up to look at himself in the mirror, ''So, we good?''
''Yeah. We're good. Oh, man, it's nice to be back.''
''So'' Dean cleared his throat, ''Gary''
''I know – my bad.''
''"My bad"? Kid, "my bad" ain't gonna cut it. See, if you were of voting age... you'd be dead. Because we would kill you. So either you straighten up and fly right or we will kill you. Are we clear?'' Never had I seen so much fear in one's eyes before, ''Crystal''
''Good''
I was sat in the middle of the Impala as we drove to Gary's house, when we pulled up Dean and Nora got out first, ''Crap''
''Gary, take it from someone who knows – chin up, man. Your life ain't that bad.''
''Uh, you met my parents.''
''Yeah. So what? It's your life. You don't like their plan for you, tell them to cram it. Rebel a little bit. In a healthy, non-Satanic way, of course. By the way, you know why Nora's into witchcraft?'' Gary look genuinely confused for a moment, ''What do you mean?''
''She doesn't like Satan, you moron. She likes you.'' I butted in and Sam nodded, ''Really? You think?''
''Yeah, I know. I'm telling you, kid – I wish I had your life.''
''You do? Thanks''
''Get out of here'' Gary followed after Nora a smile plastered on his face, ''You're a liar Sam Winchester'' I spoke with a smile, ''I totally lied. That kid's life sucked ass. All that apple-pie, family crap? It's stressful. Trust me – we didn't miss a damn thing.''
Or you don't know what you're missing I said in my head, Sam was right it was stressful but that was what being part of a family meant, I wanted to say something but decided not to. I missed my family more than anything, I clenched my fists and looked out of the window. ''You alright back there, kiddo?''
''Yeah, just a little tired''
If any one was liar it was me.
