Lucy's POV (age 9 months)
I woke up to Laxus staring at me and say "Good morning." "Good morning" he says with a laugh and then asks "When are you leaving?" "In a few minutes" I say, he comes over and nuzzles me whispering "Be careful, your tag is safe with me come back soon." To this I nod, and leave to find Grey and Levy.
As I walk to pick up Levy for the mission I start thinking about what I want the team to do. To start I think of Levy, given her build the enemy won't think she has a lot of power her size lends itself to being easily hidden and she's fast so she can get out of any trouble unnoticed. I arrive at Levy's den and to my surprise she's with Gajeel. "Levy" I say getting her attention "Yes, Lucy" she says "It's time for the mission" she nods and looks at Gajeel. "I'll be back" she says and walks out to join me but before we go Gajeel walks up to me and says "Keep my Shrimp safe you hear me Lucy." I look him in the eye and say "They'd have to kill me to get to her I promise she'll be safe" he nods and lets us leave. As we walk to get Grey I ask Levy "Is your tag safe" she nods and says "Gajeel has it." I nod.
As I walk with Levy it's quiet so I think of Grey he's bigger than either Levy or I. He is our team's power hitter so he'll be helpful in a fight and he isn't as fast as Levy. I know how I'm going to set up the team. We arrive at Grey's den and he's napping still so I walk up to him and poke his side with my right paw. That wakes him up and I think at least he's not Laxus. "Mission time Grey" he stands and nods "Is your tag safe" he nods again and I say "Good let's go visit Gramps."
It's quiet on the way to Gramps' cave and I can tell the two of them are nervous so I stop and face them. When I have their attention I say "I can tell you guys are nervous, but there's no need, I'll cover for you nothing is going to happen, if anything did Gramps and Gajeel would have my head and that to me my friends, is terrifying." They're still quiet when I say that. After a few more minutes we arrive at Gramps' cave and go in. "Hey Gramps, team two is headed out" I say he looks at me and nods saying "Come back to me soon my children" we all nod and leave. When we get out of the den area I take my team southeast out of the territory. The sun has just risen so even though I don't like the route I chose it is the lesser of the two evils I had to choose from. As we come up on the edge of the territory I stop look at my team and say "Are you guys truly ready for this"
Levy's POV
"Are you guys truly ready for this" Lucy asks. I nod knowing that Gajeel's training has prepared me well. I will make him proud.
Gray's POV
"Are you guys truly ready for this" Lucy asks. Over the last week or so that Lucy has been leading the team I've gotten stronger than Natsu I was ready for this mission. I nod.
Lucy's POV
When I see them both nod I smile and say "Are you sure, this is the point of no return once we step out of this territory you are and always will be enemy targets when they are out on missions. I need you to understand that before we leave." They nod and I say "Alright with that out of the way I've chosen to take the route that will take us close to Phantom Lord territory so what we'll do is run until we reach the other side of Mermaid Heel and rest for the night then get up before dawn and run straight through Phantom Lord with no rest at top speed with no rest and rest for an hour or so outside of Sabertooth territory and start the mission. They nod and we start our first mission together and arrive at Mermaid Heel on time.
After Levy and Gray go sleep I follow their example soon after sensing no threat in the immediate area, although I do catch the scent of sage and cedar but the scent is barely there so I fall asleep.
I woke up at dawn, stretched and woke up the others. When they nodded we took off and I thought I don't want to spend more time than necessary in Phantom Lord they killed dad almost killed mom and will kill me if they catch my scent. My team picked up the pace we ran for the day and had no encounters with Phantom Lord although I knew that if they sensed me they wouldn't strike now, they'd wait until I was at home and make a game of killing me there in front of my pack. Even though I knew this I couldn't worry about that I had a mission to complete so we kept running.
We were now safely outside of Phantom Lord but I didn't stop the team yet we were still too close for my comfort. After twenty or so miles we were finally far enough away to stop and we did. I turned to my team and said "Alright guys you may rest but before you do I just want to go over the formation we will use going into Sabertooth territory" they nod and I continued "We will go in a single-file line, Levy will take the front because of her speed and small size, I will be in the middle because of my versatility in defensive combat and Gray will be in the back because he is the strongest of us physically." they nod once more and we go to sleep.
Laxus POV
After Lucy left on her mission I went to the Tenrou tree in the Grooves at the center of the forest with her tag still around my neck. It was rare for Gramps to ask someone to come here but I guess he was really that nervous. This tree has been here since the pack was established and is where the spirit of first alpha Mavis is said to reside, it is considered hallowed ground. So why ask me to come here? Seeing and smelling nothing to be worried about I left and went to the pack infirmary to check on Lucy's mom. It's been a few days and she should be fine by the end of the week if Wendy healed her properly. I smiled to myself after imagining Lucy's face upon learning that her mother was well. So, off I went to see Wendy.
At five months old, Wendy was the youngest active member of the pack she had a silver and white coat with brown eyes. Her parents died in a fight with Sabertooth when she was eight weeks old, that is why she became the pack medical expert with guidance and help from her grandmother Porlyusica.
I arrived in Wendy's treatment area and walked into the cave and saw Wendy taking care of the last scratches Lucy's mom had so I waited outside for her to finish.
When they came out Wendy smiled at me and left to tend to her herbs. Taking a deep breath I asked "How are you feeling" Lucy's mom smiled at me and said "I'm fine thank you" I took this opportunity to look at her injury and noticed it had scared over. Then she asked "Do you know where Lucy is?" I smiled at this and said "She's on a mission and will be back in three days" Lucy's mom just smiled and nodded "I'm just glad she's happy." I nodded and said "I'll let you rest now see you later" she nodded back and went to rest. It was dark when I came out so I ran to Gramps' cave to inform him of my findings at the Tenrou tree and Lucy's mother. After that I went to sleep in Lucy's den thinking come back to me soon my angel. The next morning was routine I went on patrol with Natsu and Gajeel although Gajeel seemed to have my problem. He was distracted wondering if his mate was safe just like I do before bed every night. Hold on, did I just imply that Lucy was my mate! I do love her and oh God do I miss her. I shake my head and continue running. When I finish it's close to sunset so I go back to Lucy's den and fall asleep early. One more day I thought before I fell asleep.
Sting's POV
The scent of wild berries and pine has gotten stronger over the last couple of days but I haven't said anything to anyone. I wasn't going to lose this chance.
Lucy's POV
I woke up first and made quick work of waking up Gray and Levy. After a quick glance at them we took off into Sabertooth territory.
Sting's POV
The scent had just entered the territory from the south so I went to meet them.
Lucy's POV
Not five miles into Saber territory Levy catches the scent of sage and cedar. She looks at me and I say "Get out of sight both of you" I whisper and they do. I walk about a mile so if anyone sees and attacks me my team is safe. After that mile I sit and wait.
Sting's POV
The scent stopped moving I continued to approach and stopped in front of her. She was beautiful with her light brown and white fur and deep, dark brown eyes.
Lucy's POV
The wolf in front of me was slightly bigger than me had white fur with a silver stripe down his back icy blue eyes and a scar above his left eye.
Sting's POV
I asked her "So, what are you doing here" and she answers "Just passing through, what about you?" To this I answer "Trying to escape my pack nobody respects an omega" she nods and says "While I was passing through Fairy Tail on my travels with my parents I heard through them that Sabertooth had been spotted in Fairy territory. Do you know anything about that?"
Lucy POV
He seemed to contemplate this for a minute and then said "If I tell you will you get me out of here" I nod and he continues "Sabertooth had heard that Fairy Tail had gotten a new member so the alpha decided to send one of ours to see if the rumors were true and get information on this member however that mission was a failure and we have no information on them other than the fact that they do in fact exist."
"Come on let's go I need to keep up my end of the deal."
Sting's POV
I smile and follow her out of the territory I didn't mind when I heard her howl completed missions howl. She must be happy I thought I didn't care I was free.
Levy's POV
Gray had hid just across from me so right after I heard the howl I caught his eye and we came out of hiding to meet Lucy and the other wolf with her Gray and I were stunned.
Lucy's POV
The Saber Levy and Gray stared at me and I explained "This is Sabertooth's omega I just want to give him a second chance" to this Gray and Levy nodded. Right after we left the territory I asked him "What's your name" he answered "Sting" and asked "What's yours" I said "You'll find out" he just nodded in understanding and kept running.
Laxus I'll be back by sunset
A/N: You guys are awesome for putting up with me. This had been approximately a quarter finished since the last update. I am so SORRY about that I had meant to get this up within the week of coming back from those vacations but due to personal procrastination and a recent death in my family here it is now. On a happier note I do not have class on Friday this semester so Thursday night and Friday are you best chances for an update along with the weekend of course. Please Review. =)
