"Finally she speaks!" the Faunus boy proclaims. "It's been nearly two days and you've given me nothing but small talk and weird looks." As he says this Blake sends me an angry glare. "Yeah, like that one." Blake rolls her eyes at the Faunus.
"Arthur, are you familiar with the White Fang?" She asks, a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Of course!" Arthur responds. "I don't think there's a Faunus on the planet who hasn't heard of them. Stupid creeps that use force to get whatever they want. Bunch of freaks if you ask me."
Blake sipped on her coffee as she listened to Arthur.
"I was once a member of the White Fang," she reveals. This startles Arthur enough so that he chokes on the coffee he was unfortunately sipping on at the time.
"Wait a minute, you were a member of the White Fang?" He asks in disbelief after he's done chocking.
"That's right," Blake confirms, "I was a member for most my life actually. You could almost say I was born into it. Back then things were different, in the ashes of war the White Fang was meant to be a symbol of piece and unity between the Humans and the Faunus. Of course despite being promised equality the Faunus were subjected to discrimination and hate. Humanity still thought of us as lesser beings. So the White Fang rose up as the voice of our people. And I was there, at the front of every rally, took part in every boycott. And I actually thought we were making a difference. But I was just a youthful optimist. Then five years ago our leader stepped down and a new one took his place. A new leader, with a new way of thinking. Suddenly our peaceful protests were being replaced with organised attacks. We set fire to shops that refused to serve us, hijacked cargo from companies that used Faunus labour and the worst part was, it was working. We were being treated as equals. But not out of respect, out of fear." Blake placed her coffee cup on the table and starred into its contents. "So I left, I decided I no longer wanted to use my skills to aid in their violence and instead I would dedicate my life to become a huntress. So here I am, a criminal hiding in plane view, all with the help of a little, black, bow." She wiggled her cat ear moving the bow that covered them. After a few moments silence Arthur responded.
"So, have you told your friends any of this?" He asked.
ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN
"BLAKE! BLAKE!" Ruby called out as the team wondered through the city streets in search of their Faunus friend. They had been attempting to call her and find her the whole weekend. The rest of the team, with the exception of Weiss continued to call her name in hopes that she would hear them and come.
"Weiss, your not helping," Clark accused as he stopped and turned to look at her.
"Oh, you know who might be able to help?" Weiss asked. Before anyone could answer she continued, "the police." The rest of the team gave her mad looks.
"It was just a suggestion," Weiss defended herself as they continued walking. Clark pulled out his phone and dialled a number.
"Yeah, a bad one," Ruby grumbled.
"Weiss, I think we should hear her side of the story before we jump to any conclusions," Yang suggested.
"I think when we hear it, you will all realise I was right," Weiss responded, confident that her assumption of Blake was correct.
"Who was that?" Bart asked as Clark ended the call he made.
"It was Victor. I asked him if he could help us look for Blake. He said to meet him at the docks.". With that the team made their way to the docks continuing to call out Blake's name.
They soon arrived at the docks where Victor was already waiting for them.
"Hey guys," he greeted the team. "So what happened exactly, Clark only gave me a brief explanation over the phone." The team looked at each other awkwardly as none on them wanted to say what Blake had revealed, incase Blake didn't want Victor to know, which she probably didn't.
"Uh, Blake's missing and we're trying to find her," Ruby quickly explained, only repeating what Clark said on the phone.
"Blake, the Faunus girl right?" Victor asked for clarification. The group starred at him stunned that he knew Blake's secret.
"How do you know that?" Yang slowly asked. Victor gave them looks as if it were obvious.
"The cat ears," he explained.
"What cat ears?" Yang asked. "She wears a bow." They stood in silence for a few moments as the realisation hit them. Finally Ruby whispered, "She does like tuna a lot." After a few minutes of silence Clark decided to take charge.
"This doesn't change anything, we still have to find her. We'll split into groups of two. Yang you can go with Weiss, Bart and Ruby can partner up and I'll go with Vic." The team paired up and headed in opposite directions in search of their friend.
After walking for a while Victor brought up something that he wanted to talk to Clark about.
"You know Clark, you don't seem like the huntsmen type," in indication to his nerdy disguise.
"What do you mean?" Clark asked as he pushed his glasses up his nose, a habit he had formed since deciding to wear glasses.
"Like no offence but you seem kinda nerdy, you know." A small smile spread across Clark's lips when he heard that, shows just how affective his disguise is.
"Firstly, no offence taken. Secondly, I know I'm a bit of a nerd, but I'm also a fighter and I'll do whatever I can to help people. And I can start my helping my friends."
Meanwhile on the other side of town Blake and Arthur walked down the street planning on what to do next.
"So, what's the plan now?" Arthur asked S he placed his hands behind his head.
"I still don't believe the White Fang are behind all these robberies, they've never needed this much dust before," Blake explained.
"What if they did?" Arthur asked. "I mean, the only way we can prove that they didn't do it is to go to were the would most likely go to if they did do it and not find them there." After thinking on it for a few seconds Blake responded.
"The only problem is that I have no idea were that would be."
"Well, while I was on the ship I heard some guys talking about unloading a huge shipment of Dust," Arthur revealed.
"How big?" Blake asked for confirmation.
"Huge," was Arthur's only response.
Later that night Blake and Arthur lay atop the roof a warehouse, watching the Shipment of Dust, waiting to see if the White Fang would arrive. Eventually a series of Bullheads landed between the shipping containers and out stepped half a dozen members of the White Fang. The were dressed in black pants, shirts and boots. As well as masks, white coats and black hoods. The white jackets had the symbol of the White Fang on the back.
"Oh no," Blake mumbled, sad that her hunch was correct.
"You really didn't think that they were behind it, did you?" Arthur asked after a few moments. Blake responded by shaking her head.
"I guess I always knew. I just didn't want to be right."
"Alright, grab the tow cables," one of the Faunus ordered.
Suddenly another voice could be heard causing Blake's eyes to widen in shock.
"Hey! What's the hold up?! We're not exactly the most inconspicuous bunch of thieves at the moment so why don't you animals try pick up to the pace." From another Bullhead out waltzed Roman Torchwick, cane in hand.
"This isn't right," Blake noted with a shake of the head. "The White Fang would never work with a human. Especially not one like that." With that she drew her sword and leaped off the roof. After gracefully landing she raced over to the criminals.
"What the?!" Roman yelled as Blake placed her sword across his neck. "Oh for fu..." He started with a role of the eyes before he was interrupted.
"Nobody move!" Blake ordered as the White Fang drew their guns and swords.
"Take it easy there, little lady," Roman requested as the White Fanged circled around them.
Blake reached up and removed the black bow that covered her cat ears.
"Brothers of the White Fang, why are you aiding this scum?" She asked her fellow Faunus. The Faunus lowered their weapons when they found out she was like them.
"Ha ha. Oh kid, didn't you get the memo?" Roman asked a confused Blake.
"What are you talking about?" She asked angrily.
"The White Fang and I are going in on a joint business venture together," Roman replied.
"Tell me what it is, or I'll put an end to your little operation," Blake demanded as she moved the blade of her sword closer to Roman's throat. Suddenly there was a huge gust of wind and the sound of multiple engines were heard above their heads.
"I wouldn't exactly call it a little operation," Roman called out over the sound of three Bullheads flying in next to them. Using this as a distraction roman pointed his can between Blake's legs and pulled the trigger causing her to go flying backwards.
Meanwhile a few kilometres away Bart and Ruby noticed the sound and smoke coming from the explosion.
The two immediately rushed off off to the scene. Even closer to the attack was Clark and Victor, they were only a couple of streets away and raced over when the noticed the explosion.
Blake picked herself up off the ground just as Torchwick fired another compact round of dust at her. She quickly dived and rolled out of the way. She dodged his attacks as he continued to fire at her. He was about to fire again when a golden trident came flying through the air. As it flew by, Roman's cane got caught between the prongs was sent flying out of his hand. He looked over just in time to see Arthur fist before it hit him in the face, sending him flying.
"Leave her alone," Arthur ordered as he retrieved his trident. As he grabbed his trident a number White Fang jumped down from one of the Bullheads and proceeded to attack Arthur. He used his trident to block their attacks and attacked back, easily defeating his enemies. Through all the chaos Torchwick had managed to grab his cane and after loading in a new clip he fired it at Arthur, hoping to finish the blond. However, Arthur blocked the attack using his trident which he was about to through at Torchwick but Blake jumped in front of him yelling. "He's mine!" With that she rushed over to Roman and proceeded to attack him. When Roman managed to get a few good hits in Arthur decided to lend a hand a jumped into the action and took over for Blake. Being distracted by Arthur's attacks Roman never noticed Blake racing towards him from the left. She fly kicked him in the stomach which sent him flying. As he pulled himself up he noticed that the two teens were standing under a crane that was holding a large shipping crate. He quickly shot at it causing it to plummet down towards the two heroes. Blake and Arthur dived out of the way and ended up on different sides of the crates remains. Still lying on the ground, Arthur looked up to see Roman aiming his cane at his face at point blank range. Just as he was about to pull the trigger a voice was heard from a nearby warehouse rooftop. "Hey!" Clark yelled out. As Roman spotted Clark he sighed aloud.
"What is it with kids always interfering in my business?" He asked to no one in particular. At this moment Victor managed to catch up to Clark on the roof. For guy who came off as nerd, Clark was extremely fast.
"Yo Kent! What's going on?" He asked as he neared Clark. Clark turned around to his friend worried for his safety.
"Victor, get back," he warned. Using Clark's distraction to his advantage, Roman fired a shot from his came aimed at the two teens on the roof. Victor was the first to notice.
"Watch out!" He yelled. When Clark turned around the shot was only a few metres away. Using his super speed he grabbed Victor and shielded him from the blast.
"NO!" Blake screamed when she thought Clark and Victor were hurt, or worse. Roman believing that problem was solved turned away from the warehouse were he was once again attacked by Blake and Arthur. If they had waited for the smoke to clear they would have seen Clark moving away from Victor unscathed.
"How did you do that?" Victor asked, shock present in his voice. Clark whose shirt was burnt off, hair messed up and glasses blown to pieces stood there and sighed.
'Great, another person who knows my secret," he thought to himself. He looked up into Victors shocked eyes.
"Listen Victor, I'll explain everything later. But right now we have to help Blake. Can you help them for a few minutes? There's something I need to do," Clark requested.
"But, you took that shot, like, full on." Victor mumbled still shocked at what Clark had done. As Clark looked back to the fight he saw a number of members of the White Fang jump from the other Bullheads and join in on the fight.
"Please Victor. You gotta help them," Clark pleaded. Victor looked over to the fight and a new found determination came into his eyes.
"Of corse I will. I'm combat ready!" He yelled before running and jumping off of the roof they were standing on. When he landed he created a small crater. He didn't seem to notice it and rushed over the members of the White Fang. His back pack opened up and a sword flew out of it. The sword then split into five. With only a hand gesture Victor sent the swords flying at his enemies. Clark watched, amazed for a few seconds before super speeding away.
Bart and Ruby finally arrived and were shocked to say the least at the sight in front of them. The stowaway Faunus was fighting members of the White Fang with a golden trident, Blake was battling the Torchwick guy and Victor was magically moving a number of swords without touching them tacking down White Fang like it was no bodies business.
"Come on! Let's help!" Ruby yelled as she charged into battle. Bart was about to follow when a hand grabbed his shoulder. He turned around to find Clark standing there. His hairs was messed up, his glasses were gone and what remained of his shirt was burnt and shredded.
"What the hell happened to you?!" Bart yelled at the sight of his best friend.
"I'll explain later," Clark replied. "Follow me." With that Clark sped off, Bart right behind him.
As the fight continued the teens seemed to be winning, that was until Victor was shot. One of the White Fang got a lucky shot and hit Victor in his left arm. He screamed as he collapsed to the ground.
"Victor!" Ruby yelled, worried for her friends life.
"I'm fine!" Victor managed to yell back, even if it wasn't true.
"Are you sure?" Ruby asked just in case Victor needed immediate attention.
"Just fight!" He yelled out to her. With that she reluctantly headed back into battle.
Seeing one their friends hurt only made the other teens fight even harder. Victor managed to make his way to the sidelines were he inspected the damage. He appeared to be bleeding, but it wasn't blood, it was a mysterious black liquid. After his inspection he pulled out his phone and made an urgent call. As he ended the call he looked up at the fight and saw Ruby standing right under another crane that was holding up a Schnee shipping crate. He wasn't the only one as a member of the White Fang also noticed. Victor tried to use one of his swords but was to weak to do anything. The White Fang soldier fired at the crate until it began to fall. Ruby to occupied with the fight didn't notice the crate until it was to late. With no time to move and no way to stop it there was nothing she could do. She closed her eyes and prepared for death.
Suddenly she felt another body on top of hers forcing her to the ground, the body proceeded to cover her as the crate fell on them. Once the crate had smashed into them she opened her eyes to see Clark covering her. It took her a few seconds, as she had gotten used to him in glasses but it was most certainly him. She looked into his eyes and he looked back into hers. For a few moments neither said anything, they just starred at each other. Eventually she looked down at what he was wearing. He wore a plaid black t-shirt with black pants, black boots and a long black over coat.
"Are you okay?" He asked her, worried for her safety.
"I'm fine Clark, but what about you? How did you? And how are you still alive? And what's with the outfit?" She asked.
Once again Clark responded to one of his friends questions with, "I'll explain later." He picked her up and made his way out of the debris. The fight was coming to a end with thanks to a golden blur racing around taking down the remaining enemies. Once clear of the debris. Clark picked Ruby up super sped her away.
They came to a halt behind a number of shipping crates nearby. Clark placed Ruby back on her feet where she took a few steps back in shock.
"How did you do that?" She asked nervously as she got over the motion sickness. Clark hesitated for a moment before responding.
"I'm faster then I look," he replied. Before Ruby could question him any further a gust of air blew her from behind. She turned around to see Impulse. Impulse looked from her to Clark, who nodded answering Bart's unspoken question.
"Well, I guess if you know Clark's secret then there's no point in hiding mine." With that he pulled down his hood and removed his glasses. Ruby couldn't believe her eyes, her teammates, Bart and Clark were the super fast heroes all over the news.
"Oh my God! Bart, your impulse?! And that means that Clark is the Blur," she figured as she looked back and forth between her teammates. For a few seconds nothing happened, they just stood in silence when all of a sudden Ruby screamed with delight. "Oooohh! This is so awesome! So, how can you guys run so fast? How fast can you run? And what's with the costumes? Oh and how come you never invited me?" She spat out eager to get her many questions answered. Clark opened his mouth to respond but was interrupted when an Bullhead began to fly away. Instead of allowing it to escape Clark used his heat vision to split the ship into two causing it to crash into the ocean. The other however did to get away, with Torchwick inside.
As they watched to ship fly away Clark asked Ruby a question that he hoped she'd agree to. "Ruby, can you please not tell anyone about us? We'll explain everything to you later but please don't tell anyone. Maybe someday we'll tell the others but not now." Ruby thought this over for a few moments before nodding her head.
"Besides, I think we've had enough secrets revealed for one week." Bart added
Twenty minutes later Arthur, Blake, Ruby, Bart and Clark (no longer in costume) sat together as police investigated the scene.
"Wait, what happened to Victor?" Bart asked when he realised that Victor was no where to be seen. The others looked around wondering what happened to their friend.
"He got shot," Ruby revealed, "he moved over there." She pointed to the spot she was talking about. "I lost track of him after that."
"I'll give him a call," Clark decided. Clark pulled out his phone and called Victor.
"Victor are you alright?" Clark asked worried for his friends health.
"Yeah, I'm fine. What about you?"
"I'm fine. Where'd you go during the fight?"
"I went to go get some medical help. Sorry I left, I just needed immediate attention. Listen Kent, I can't talk right now. I'll phone ya later." With that Victor hung up.
"So, is he okay?" Ruby asked as Clark slid the phone back into his pocket.
"He said he's okay but I'm not sure if that's the whole truth," Clark responded. At this moment Yang and Weiss finally arrived and made their way over to the group.
"Look Weiss it's not what you think, she can explain the whole thing," Ruby began to defend Blake. "She has kitty ears and there actually kinda cute." Weiss stomped past her and moved on to Blake. The two stood I front of each other, Weiss giving Blake a hard stare.
"Weiss, I want you to know that I'm no longer associated with the White Fang, back when I was with them..." Blake began to defend her self before Weiss interrupted her.
"Stop!" She ordered. "Do you have any idea how long we've been searching for you?" She asked. Before Blake could respond Weiss answered her own question. "Twelve hours. That means I've had twelve hours to think about this and in that twelve hours I've decided." She paused causing everyone to worry further about what she was going to say next. "I don't care." Weiss revealed to the groups relief.
"You don't care?" Blake asked nervously, it seemed to good to be true.
"You said you weren't one of them anymore, right?" Weiss asked for clarification.
"No, I haven't been a member since I was little..." Blake replied before Weiss interrupted her again by raising her hand in Blake's face.
"I don't wanna hear it. All I won't to know is the next time something this big comes up you come to your team mates. And not someone else," she concluded as she looked over at Arthur. Blake wiped away a tear before responding.
"Of course."
"Yay! Team KRBBY is back together!" Ruby squealed in delight.
"I'm still not quite shore how I feel about you," Weiss snapped when Arthur came over to them. He replied with a nervous smile.
Meanwhile in a lab full of machinery Victor lay on a table while people dressed in white body suits used different tolls on his injured arm.
"You should know better then to go running around in a strange city," a voice from the observation deck told Victor.
"I know sir," Victor responded.
The next day Ruby, Bart and Clark stood in a circle, in a private location so that they couldn't be disturbed. Clark had tried to get ahold of Victor so he could explain to Victor how he survived that shot from Torchwick but Victor wasn't picking up his phone.
"Okay, I have like a million questions I really want to ask." Ruby began. "Like how can you guys move so fast? Whose faster? What was that thing you did with your eyes? What other powers do you have? What's with the costumes? Oh and Clark black definitely isn't your colour." She asked with excitement. In her opinion this was the coolest thing ever. Two of her best friends were superheroes.
"Ruby, calm down," Clark requested. At least she didn't hate him for keeping this secret from her. He fully intended on telling her about his powers and what he does as the blur but decided to leave out his alien heritage for the moment, he wasn't going to let that secret go if he could prevent it, at least for now.
"Okay Ruby." Clark began. He took a deep breath before continuing, it was always difficult to reveal his secret. "It started that night we were in Metropolis, you know, when we met Chloe and Lois."
"Yeah," Ruby remembered.
"Well, my super hearing picked up on this crime..." He began to explain
"You have super hearing!" Ruby squealed. "That is so cool! What can hear now? Is Weiss on the toilet?"
"I'd prefer not to think about that," Clark replied, wincing at the mental image. "Anyway, I found Roman Torchwick and some of his goons robbing a dust store, just like the robbery you stopped. I stopped them and after that I decided that I couldn't just stand around and do nothing. I decided to use my powers for good in the community. That pretty much it." He concluded.
"Oh and I already knew about his powers and there was no chance I was letting him have all the fun," Bart added. Ruby nodded taking it all in.
"So how can you guys move so fast, I mean is it part of your semblance or what." The two males looked at each other before answering.
"I'm not actually sure what my semblance is. A few years ago there was this weird lightning storm and I got struck. When I woke up I had total amnesia. Couldn't remember who my folks or friends were." Bart revealed with a touch of sadness. Despite his laid back personality, it always saddened him not knowing who or where his family were. "On the plus side I became the fastest man alive. Even faster then C.K. here. I didn't seem to have a semblance when I woke up so I assumed I had super speed that was upgraded in the lightning storm."
"Whoa. I'm really sorry about your memory Bart." Ruby vouldn't imagine losing all her memory and never seeing her friends and family again.
"It's cool. Besides if it didn't happen I probably never would have met you guys," Bart replied with as smile. After a few moments of silence Ruby moved on to Clark. "What about you?"
"I have a number of powers," Clark revealed much to Ruby's delight. I have..." This was extremely awkward for Clark he wasn't used to talking about his powers openly to someone like this. "I have super strength, invulnerability, heat vision, super speed, freeze breath, super hearing, x-ray vision and on the occasions that I do get hurt I also have a healing factor."
"That's so awesome!" Ruby squealed in delight. Then a idea came into her head. "Wait, if you have x-ray vision then does that mean you can, you know, x-ray clothes?" She asked nervously crossing her arms over her body.
"No! No! I would never abuse my powers like that," Clark defended himself. If it were anyone else Ruby would probably have a hard time believing them, but she believed without a doubt that Clark would never use his powers like that. For the next half hour Bart and Clark answered Ruby's questions as best they could and after giving a few demonstrations they headed home.
Authors note:
I've just got a few points to talk about
For those of you who are Sun fans don't worry he will be in the story later.
Of course Arthur's weapon would be his trident seeing as he's Aquaman.
Also added Victor, I really like Penny but I couldn't help myself and switch her for Cyborg.
Ruby knows Clark and Bart's secret now, at least part of it anyway. I'll save the whole last son of Krypton thing for another day.
This isn't the last chapter in the series there are going to be more.
Finally, I'll be doing my version of Vessel, you know where Lex gets possessed by Zod. I was hoping I could get a few suggestions from any readers on who should get possessed instead. You can suggest anyone except Clark (obviously) and Ozpin, I have plans for him. Other than that choose anyone you like, even Lex if you want. Private message me your suggestions.
