A/N: I'm really sorry I haven't updated this in so long, I kinda forgot about it because of stuff happening in real life, but either way I'm really sorry.
Kari had been in the darkness for what seemed like an eternity. Maybe the darkness was right, and the others weren't coming...
"Of course I'm right," it said, "Why would I lie to you?"
"Because you want to extinguish my light," Kari said.
"But that doesn't mean I need to lie. It's your friends that are doing that, they're the ones who aren't coming to save you when you were so sure they would."
"Yeah... No! They are coming, you'll see!"
"I wouldn't be so sure of that if I were you."
"Well, you're not me, so you don't have to be sure of it. But I am sure of it, because I know my friends, and my brother, and Gatomon, my partner. They would never let me down!"
"Really? How long have you been waiting here? Hours? Days? Years?"
Kari struggled to find an answer to that. It felt like it could have been weeks, at least. She knew she'd fallen asleep and woken up multiple times over, and it was all started to blur together. It seemed like it could have been a very long time, but she knew that sometimes time warped, and maybe it felt a lot longer than it had actually been. It was getting tiring to keep up her hope and determination all this time, though.
"Just give up on them, like they have on you."
Kari shook her head, "Never!"
Suddenly, there was a blast of light and noise, which was a huge shock compared to the darkness and silence she'd been surrounded by.
"Tai? Gatomon?" she yelled.
"Kari!" she heard the two yelling in unison.
She smiled at the darkness, "See? I told you."
Tai could see Kari floating in darkness, and immediately jumped off Garudamon to get to her.
"Tai, you idiot, what are you doing?" Matt yelled.
"Saving my sister!"
As soon as Tai entered the same dark space as Kari, however, everything became a lot darker, quieter, and more unreal.
"Kari?" he called out again.
"Tai! I knew you'd come for me!"
Garudamon dedigivolved back into Biyomon, exhausted from having flown so far.
Everyone became suspended in the darkness, and floated there.
Within seconds, everyone could only see darkness, even though they knew the others were there.
"Biyomon? Mimi? Joe?" Sora called.
"Gomamon? Matt? Sora?" Joe called.
"TK, where are you? Gabumon!" Matt yelled.
"Matt, Patamon!" TK yelled.
Everyone flailed hopelessly in the darkness, unable to see anything, and only faintly able to hear or sense each other.
"Tai? Tai, where are you? Tai!" Agumon shouted.
"TK!" Patamon yelled, flapping his wings.
But it was no use, they were all surrounded by the darkness and silence, and too obscured by it to sense each others' presence.
The darkness laughed quietly, though only Kari could hear.
A chill went through Kari's body.
"No," she spoke out loud, "Everyone else is trapped here too? All because they came to save me?"
She let out a breath of fear, and could feel it turn to mist in the cold now surrounding her.
"Gatomon!" she screamed at the top of her voice, "Gatomon!"
Gatomon jumped, "Kari!"
She couldn't see Kari anywhere, but she knew she was here, and heard her voice.
"Gatomon!" Kari screamed.
"Kari!"
Light shot out of Kari's chest and engulfed Gatomon.
"Gatomon, digivolve to... Angewomon!"
Angewomon was suddenly able to see everything properly, as was Kari.
"Kari."
"Angewomon!" Kari smiled.
"Light arrow!" Angewomon said, firing an arrow of light into the darkness.
Her attack illuminated the place, allowing everyone to see other once again.
The Digidestined immediately hugged their digimon partners, as if to make sure they never became separated again, except for Tai, who grabbed Kari and hugged her tightly.
"Kari! I'm so glad you're safe!"
"So am I," she said, "Sorry for getting you all trapped in this dark place."
Tai just hugged her tighter, to which she responded by coughing slightly.
"Sorry," Tai said, and released her.
"It's fine!" Kari said, and smiled.
