Chapter 10: Knight's Past
Normal POV
Soft and audible snores filled the empty room which was covered in green as there was a lone figure in the room sleeping comfortably on a chair next to a large queen size bed. Said figure was none other than Natsu Dragneel, the Salamander of Fairy Tail himself.
The room was dark due to the outside being shrouded in darkness, the only source of light came from a dimly lit lamplight that was located on the lone table of the room.
Despite that, that source of light caused the Dragon Slayer to stir in his sleep before waking up entirely with a yawn.
"Man, that was a good nap." The pinkette commented as he looked around and realized that he was currently in Hisui's room.
The Fairy Tail mage decided to check on her as he turned to the bed, only to see that it was empty and it was in a mess. Panic immediately started to settle in the Dragon Slayer's mind as he lost all logic and stormed out of the room, in hopes of finding Hisui. The worse immediately came into his mind.
'Crap, why did I fall asleep when I was supposed to be watching her?!' Natsu thought as the only thing that was in his mind was Hisui being bounded onto a bed and standing beside her was a figure, covered by the darkness, with an evil smirk on his face as he held a sword in his hand before swinging the sword downwards towards the jade haired princess.
That very thought caused him to increase his speed as he ran past a few guards who looked at the pinkette's retreating form in confusion.
"What's up with him?" one of the guards asked, causing the other to shrug in response.
"Maybe he did something wrong and Captain Arcadios is chasing after him now?" the guard theorized before the two decided to continue with their patrol and leave the Fire Dragon Slayer to his own devices.
Natsu then scanned each and every room of the floor and couldn't find the princess at all before he was face to face with the only remaining room, which had Eara's and Kiyan's smell all over it.
'Must be their room.' Natsu thought and was about to step in, when he heard something that made him stop in his tracks.
"Natsu has…become a very important person in my life." Natsu's eyes widened in shock when he recognized the sound of the voice.
'Hisui?' Natsu thought as he decided to stand by the door to listen in on the conversation. Eavesdropping was not part of his norm, but he was curious and wanted to know what he meant to Hisui.
"I want to see my life with him there. I don't understand the concept of love, but I can certainly say that…" Natsu's heart began pounding uncontrollably as he waited for her to finish her sentence as a thought lingered in his mind.
'Does she feel the same way that I feel for her?' the pinkette thought to himself.
"I really love him." Hisui ended with a small blush on her face as Eara smiled at the jade haired princess, whom she considered to be like her younger sister than the daughter of her boss; she was sure that Kiyan felt the same way, but he was good at hiding his emotions due to him spending most of his life in the Shadow Tribe.
"I'm really happy for you Princess. I pray that the two of you will get together." Right after she said that, Hisui deflated a bit, something Eara immediately noted.
"I don't think he would be interested in me in THAT way, though." Hisui admitted and Eara cocked her head to the side in confusion at the princess's sudden pessimism.
"Oh, and why is that? The two of you have been quite close with each other ever since he came here. So why would you say that?" Eara asked curiously, knowing how much of an optimist the princess of Fiore was.
After all, she believed the strange man, who had supposedly claimed to have come from the future, and even agreed to rebuild the Eclipse Portal with the purpose to kill Zeref before he had reached immortality and continued the project no matter how others may have tried to point out about how suspicious the man may be.
Hisui sighed sadly at this as she placed a hand on her cheek as she recalled all of the female members of the Fairy Tail guild whom she had met during the night of the party and thought about how beautiful each and every one of them were in their own respective rights, some of them were also very, ahem, 'matured' especially around the chest area, more so than her, especially the likes of the Celestial Mage, Lucy Heartfillia and Titania, Erza Scarlet.
Not only were they team members in Fairy Tail A for the Grand Magic Games, but due to the research she had the guards conducted long ago, back when the news about the core members of Fairy Tail returning after their seven years of slumber, both females were also a part of the, rumoured to be, best team in Fairy Tail, "Team Natsu".
Which obviously meant that they had a lot of time to seduce the pink haired Dragon Slayer and making him their man when on and off of missions.
"I'm pretty sure that there are better women than me in his guild. Besides, he's known as the savior of Fiore so I'm sure that lots of women are vying for his attention as well." Hisui said as Eara chuckled at the jade hair princess's so called "problem".
"Princess, I don't quite see why you're worrying so much about this now. I mean, currently, he's going to be working here UNTIL he catches and defeats the unknown assassin, meaning you still have plenty of time before he goes back to his guild." Eara said and Hisui began taking in the healer's words in and realized how right the brunette was.
"Besides, I think that it's adorable that the dragon manages to steal the princess's heart instead of some charming white knight." Eara added as Hisui smiled.
"I think there are times when Natsu acts like both a dragon and a knight." Hisui stated as the two giggled amongst themselves.
"So, do you want me to give him some hints that you liking him?" Hisui shook her head at that.
"It's fine, I wish to tell him about my feelings myself, until then, I'll do my best to make him fall for me." Hisui said determinedly.
Unknown to them, Natsu has heard more than they, mostly Hisui, wanted to as his face was extremely red due to the massive blush covering his face, also, he couldn't contain the massive smile that appeared on his face after what he heard.
'So she feels the same way for me, eh? That's…..a massive relief.' Natsu thought to himself and had half a mind to walk in to the room and tell Hisui of his feelings for her, but quickly remembered their positions.
She was the princess of a massive country in Ishgar and he was just a mage known for his massive destructiveness.
'What can I do to tell her that I like her the same way she does?' Natsu thought to himself as he noticed a certain silver haired male passing by.
'Kiyan!' The pinkette immediately recalled that his so-called trainer and Eara were in a strong relationship together. Although he didn't want to, the Dragon Slayer pushed his pride deep within as he quickly caught the silver haired male by the arm, much to his shock, and began dragging him away to the training room.
"Alright, what do you want pinky? I'm tired and not in the mood for any of your crap." Kiyan said in a monotone but the pinkette could detect a small hint of annoyance in his words.
Natsu glared at the silver haired male at the small jab that he made, but calmed himself down. He needed the guy's help after all.
"Look, I don't want to say this but, I need your help." Natsu said and Kiyan scoffed at this, though he was confused as to why the Dragon Slayer would ask his help seeing as they weren't in the best of terms.
"Fine, what do you want?" Kiyan asked and Natsu suddenly became nervous, all confidence he had before gone as he scratched his cheek nervously.
"Well I have a certain problem and I want to know how you would deal with it." Natsu said as Kiyan decided to lean on the wall, crossing his arm.
"Alright, what is this so called problem that the great Salamander of Fairy Tail is unable to solve?" Kiyan said sarcastically.
"I…..I want to know how to confess to a girl that I really like." Natsu said as he avoided the silver haired man's gaze, thus, making him unable to see the smirk that appeared on his face.
"So you've finally realized it eh? Took you long enough." Kiyan said as Natsu looked at him in confusion.
"What do you mean?" the pinkette asked.
"I mean everyone in the castle noticed how the two of you interacted and concluded that the two of you were in love with each other and some guards even made bets as to when you would get it through that thick skull of yours that the Princess has a crush on you." Kiyan said, recalling how he accidentally heard some guards whispering amongst each other about making bets. About what you may ask, well it's all about the pinkette and the princess.
Natsu then rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and a bit in shame as well. Everyone in the palace was able to notice it way before he could. Just how dense was he and was he the only one that was like this?
Located in different universes from the current one that we are in right now, a few characters sneezed all of a sudden as they rubbed their noses. 'Someone must be talking about me.' they wondered in their respective minds.
Ah, ignorant main characters…..Anyways, back to the story,
"So, what do I need to do?" Natsu asked, wanting to get this over with as Kiyan shrugged in response.
"Now, that is up to you." Kiyan responded and Natsu tilted his head in confusion.
"What does that mean?" the pinkette asked and Kiyan shrugged in response, hoping that their conversation would end. An awkward silence filled the room as Natsu began thinking about what those words meant as Kiyan got off the wall and began walking towards the exit.
"Hey Kiyan. How did you and Eara get together?" Natsu suddenly asked causing the silver haired man to stop in his place due to the shock he had from the question.
"Why should I tell you about my private live? It's none of your concern." Kiyan said.
"But I'm curious as to how and why someone like Eara would like someone like you." Natsu said rudely and Kiyan's eyebrow twitched as he heard that as he clenched his fist tightly before inhaling and exhaling, an exercise he would use to calm himself down, courtesy of his girlfriend, Eara.
Kiyan then turned around to look at the clock hanging on the ceiling, showing the time to be "3.45 PM" causing him to sigh.
'Looks like I'm going to get lectured by Eara for arriving late to our agreed time again.' Funny how someone who was considered to be one of the most deadly assassin throughout the kingdom of Ishgar, was worried about being lectured by his girlfriend.
Though, I don't blame him whatsoever, females can be scary when they wish to be. Around the same time, a certain scarlet haired beauty sneezed and looked around to see if anyone was talking about her before shrugging it off as nothing before deciding to return back to her cake, happily munching the delicious treat down at a slow pace, ignoring the chaos that happened behind her.
"Fine, I'll tell you bits of what happened in the past. I have no idea why I'm helping you, but since Eara and the Princess cares a lot for you, so I might as well help you out anyway." Kiyan said shrugging as he leaned on the very same wall as Natsu focused and decided to listen to the man's story.
"It all started from a mission. Eara was a target from another empire because of her extraordinary powers and because my empire were power hungry mongrels, they wanted to have her power, wanted to wield it and rule the continent as to their wish and I was a part of the group to retrieve her." Kiyan started out and Natsu pointed at him.
"So you were working for them?" Kiyan shook his head at this. "Not entirely, I never swore allegiance to them, instead, I worked for another 'group' called the Shadow Tribe and they requested me, in order to gain the trust of the empire, to join in." Kiyan explained and Natsu nodded his head in understanding.
"I see, so what happened next?"
"Well, the plan was successful and we managed to capture her, but our only means of transportation was destroyed meaning we had to take the long way back. During this time everyone but me had survived the attack so I had to fight my way out, meanwhile, Eara had zero trust in me as I had knocked her out and brought her away from her haven."
"So how did you gain her trust?" Natsu asked curiously, the story the silver haired man was telling him was similar to that of a love story, and judging by the end results, it was.
"It was later that night when I had already fell asleep when Eara decided to run away, without any sort of weapon or armour and I later found out that she was kidnapped by an army of goblins, wanting to sell her off." Kiyan clenched his fists tightly at the memory, had he not found her tracks, she would have been sold off to slavery or something similar to it.
"So I fought my way into the deepest part of their cave and killed the boss to rescue her, and from there, Eara began to trust me and ever since then, we started our journey towards the empire."
"Wow, so how did you two confess to each other?" Natsu asked and Kiyan closed his eyes, remembering the memory as if it were yesterday. After all, it was the best memory he had.
Flashback
Kiyan then panted heavily, holding onto his wounds tightly, as he walked towards the dimly lit room of the mysterious dungeon.
'Stupid imposter.' Kiyan cursed in his mind and he had half a mind to just give up and faint and let fate decide from there.
But he wasn't going to give up. Not when he wanted to-, no NEEDED to know why he desperately wanted to return, why he disobeyed direct orders from his superiours in the Shadow Tribe, and why was his body reacting with the warm sensation coming from the cave.
'I need a potion.' Kiyan thought as he tried to find the green flask in his pack, but could find nothing in them.
"Fuck, this is just my luck." Kiyan cursed softly as he felt his consciousness leave him.
'No, not now! I have to reach the end! To find what I've been forgetting this whole time!' Kiyan thought as he moved forward, every step he took was hurting his body even more before he eventually dropped to the ground, face first.
'Is this the end of me?' Kiyan thought as he closed his eyes and he could see a bright light reaching for him.
"Kiyan…."
'Whose voice is that?'
"Kiyan…."
'Why does it sound so familiar?'
"Please, wake up Kiyan."
'This voice belongs to…!'
Kiyan then opened his eyes to see a familiar mop of brown hair above him and a gentle smile greeted him.
"Kiyan, you're awake! Thank God for that!" Eara said happily as she hugged him closer to her as Kiyan was happy and confused at the same time.
"Eara…..how are you here? What about the curseweed in your body?" Kiyan asked, hiding the nervousness in his tone as Eara smiled at him.
"Don't worry about it, the curseweed somehow disappeared right after I used my powers." Eara smiled as Kiyan gripped onto her hand, anger in his eyes.
"Why did you do that Eara?! Why did you risk your life like you did, knowing you would have died by doing so?" Kiyan yelled at her. The distress he felt when he saw her body fell to the ground was absolutely heart clenching and it terrified him.
Eara's bangs covered her eyes, letting his words sink in, a few seconds later, a stray tear fell from her face, shocking the soldier as she looked at him tearfully.
"Is that all I am to you? Someone to watch over for?" Kiyan was shocked by this statement but he decided to let the brunette vent out all that was needed to say.
For him though, the next few words were the most shocking of all.
"Kiyan….I love you." Eara said and Kiyan's eyes widened as Eara placed a hand on her heart.
"I…..I never had so many feelings for one person in my life before and it feels so overwhelming. You became less of a bodyguard and more of a person I could trust my life with." Eara said as she blushed, recalling all the good times they had on their journey.
"I don't know how these feelings developed, but I know for a fact that it's there. Every time I would talk to you, or be around you, my heart would pound nonstop and I feel butterflies fluttering in my stomach. And whenever we were apart from each other I feel an emptiness, and when you sacrificed yourself to by us time from the Berkel Knights, my heart dropped and no one could console me until I knew you were safe." Eara finished, tears long forgotten and Kiyan felt his heart beating faster than normal.
"So…..yeah. I managed to figure out my feelings for you…" Eara said and she looked at Kiyan expectantly and the silver haired soldier knew what she wanted him to say.
"Eara, we-, I can't. My task is to bring you to Lake Sellen, and after that, I will return home where I will be marked as a traitor while you will go back to the Arnen Empire were you will lead as The Channel." Kiyan said, but his heart disagreed with his words. He wanted to be together with Eara as well.
She was his light in his darkest hour. The sun that radiated its goodness towards him. She was his everything.
"I don't care about all of that!" Eara shouted all of a sudden, shocking Kiyan at her unusual behavior as he looked at her strangely.
"Eara?"
"I don't want to be known as The Channel anymore, and I don't care who YOU are and who you USED to be. To me, you'll always be Kiyan to me. So please, be with me." Eara begged and Kiyan was about to say no, but a thought came to his head.
What did he have to lose by agreeing with her?
The Shadow Tribe already marked him as a traitor by coming to the dungeon, the Berkel Empire would do the same for killing Alexander.
He had nothing left in the world…all but the woman in front of him. The same woman he fell in love with.
Kiyan then took her hand into his and intertwined their fingers together, this action shocked Eara as she looked up to meet the grey eyes that used to hold nothing but malice in them, but now, she could detect some love in them.
"Alright, let's go. Just…..you and me." Kiyan said and Eara smiled at his answer before she finally closed all the gap between the two and hugged the man close to her.
"I love you, Kiyan."
Kiyan took some time to react to those words as a small smile appeared on his face, and unlike all the fake one he was used to, this was a genuine one.
"I love you too, Eara."
Flashback End
Kiyan felt his mouth made a slight lift but he quickly lowered it before the Dragon Slayer could notice it and shrugged.
"All you need to know is that the day Eara and I became a couple, it was the end of our journey. Not the one we planned, but I can say that it was the happy ending we both wished for." Kiyan said and Natsu pouted. He wanted more information to help him with his own problem.
"So what do I do? I can't take Hisui on an adventure like you two did." Natsu said and Kiyan sighed.
"You don't need to, all you need to do right now is stop worrying on what to do and start spending more time with her. And maybe in a few months from now, you're able to confess about how you feel about her." Kiyan suggested and Natsu nodded his head, thanking the silver haired male as he went back to thinking about a plan.
Kiyan took this as a signal to leave the training room and back to his own room, knowing that someone was waiting for him there.
The silver haired male then opened the door to see Eara reading a book on the bed and her eyes brightened when she saw Kiyan and quickly got out of bed to greet him.
"Why were you so late today? You're not getting off the hook that easy today." Eara pouted and Kiyan merely nodded as he stared at Eara, causing her to blush.
"W-what is it?' Eara asked, and before she realized it, Kiyan grabbed her by the arm, pulling her closer to him as he killed all distance between them as his lips crashed into hers for a kiss.
Eara was shocked by the sudden affection Kiyan was giving, but she wasn't complaining whatsoever and wrapped her arms around his head to deepen the kiss.
After a short while, the two released each other, both panting heavily.
"So what was that for?" Eara asked and Kiyan gave her a small smile.
"That was for being a part of my life the way you always have been. I love you Eara." Kiyan said as Eara blushed at the passion of his words before she smiled lovingly at her boyfriend.
"I love you too, Kiyan."
End Chapter
Passion doesn't come out from fighting billions of monsters or doing the things you love. It comes from the people supporting you from behind, the people you want to impress, the people you want to make proud, and the people you want to recognize you.
Life has its own funny way of making it happen, but never let it deter you from becoming the person you want to be.
Phew, finally done with the chapter. I'm actually quite happy about this chapter unlike my others. Mainly because I showed how Eara and Kiyan came to be together and how important of a role they both play and they aren't just some random characters from one of my favourite RPG game.
Anyways, that's it for me so goodbye everyone!
-Have a good one everyone!
