Chapter 10: Yamcha's Feelings
Yamcha slouched in the rolling chair of Ryanna's office watching her work. The woman had calmed down after her little battle royale with Vegeta and Goku and stuck herself where she was most suited and that was to a lab with samples and notes scattered all around her. "Ryanna, I don't mean to be a bother to you, ya know when you're working and all, but can I get your advice?"
"Just a minute, Yamcha…" Goggles on and her hand steady on a pair of tweezers she gently applied the material into the beaker and watched it fizz and change color. "Okay…" She backed up and removed her goggles with a smile. "What is it you need?"
"Well you're the expert on the Saiyan race…"
"I wouldn't consider myself the expert… more like a fast study of them." She lounged back her arms crossed over her chest and she tapped a finger along her bicep. "You've a question regarding the Saiyans from a… human hybrid perspective?"
"Yeah, I guess… what I wanted to know is… can a human saiyan hybrid love more than two people… I mean say for instance you who are half human and half saiyan are mated to Bardock… but you find yourself attached to another man… one who is human and doesn't understand the concept of mating."
RYanna's eyebrow lifted at this particular question and then out of no where suddenly laughed. In fact, she laughed so hard she nearly rolled out of her chair. Yamcha frowned and watched her laugh herself silly. His feelings were already bruised but now his temper flared with it.
"Cut it out!"
"I'm sorry, hahaha, no I'm sorry it's just… wow I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Whew…" She righted herself and scooted her chair closer to Yamcha grabbing his shoulders. "Listen, Yamcha… it was the very idea of me being with anyone BUT Bardock." Yamcha stared at her a little confused and Ryanna shook her head running fingers through her hair. "You've only been a Saiyan for a short time… believe me I sympathize… but do you know what the best part of being Saiyan is?"
"What?"
"The Knowing…"
"Knowing?"
"Yes…" she straightened again and stood up walking around her lab like a teacher would a classroom during a lecture. "As humans we hypothesize, rationalize, analyze almost everything in our lives, whether it be science, politics, or even love. We can't help but want to pick at it constantly, questions constantly running through our minds… does he love me? Does he wanna marry me? Do I wanna marry him? Am I ready for this commitment? Are we gonna have children? Blah Blah Blah…"
"Wow, I never realized that about our race."
"That's because for us it's natural, it's human nature to be the problem solvers, to explore new areas and angles. Now for saiyans it's a different kettle of fish altogether. Saiyans are all about instinct and natural born destiny. They're born to fight, it's in their blood in their genetic coding and it's the way they're built. They don't care about picking at those questions or the like because they KNOW. They know they must fight, they know how to survive, they know what their bodies need whether it be food, sex, it's just…" she tapped her forehead. "It's there."
She paused a moment her eyes glazing over with remembrance. She thought of when she first arrived on Vegeta… "I remember first coming to Planet Vegeta… and everyone would constantly notice I'm not like a normal Saiyan… they instinctively knew I was different, i wasn't ingrained like them. It wasn't just the way I looked or the way I fought… it was this." She tapped her forehead again. "It was the way I thought. I was born human, raised human, so I still had that ingrained need to pick and question everything around me."
"Yeah, but it was because of those questions that you did a lot of good. I mean I've never been to Planet Vegeta, but from what I've heard you built gravity machines to raise their strengths, you organized the tournaments to keep them from going wild and conquering, you even set up trade with other systems making them a well recognized and respectable race."
"You credit me with way too much," Ryanna shook her head laughing. "All I did was offer suggestion to Vegeta, it was their choice to change, their choice to thrive under their own reign rather than that of a tyrant who used their lust for battle against them."
"Still you didn't have to… I mean you could have just taken a pod or a ship and come to Earth but you chose to stay and help. Why?"
"We keep straggling from the original question you asked me."
"Yeah but now I'm invested, I want to hear what you have to say. I'm curious."
"There, you have your answer." She poked him in the head laughing. "Another common trait amongst humans… I was curious. I wanted to see more of the way Saiyans lived. In my time the Saiyans were all but extinct and living amongst humans, I was a scientist who had dedicated her life's work to discovering everything she could about this Alien race that managed to save Earth so many times. If Saiyans were evil then why was it that it was Saiyans were the ones responsible for keeping us protected for so long. I wanted a deeper and thorough look into their society. I could only get so much from stories out of Vegeta… I was witnessing it all through the belly of the beast… and it was thrilling."
"Well that I can understand." Yamcha folded his arms over the back of the chair then rested his head on them.
"Now back to your original question… you wanted to know if it was possible for a hybrid such as myself could fall for two at once?" She thought about it… and she shook her head. "I could have… it's possible, but the truth of the matter is I didn't. I met Bardock… and that was it. Sure my human mind tried to rationalize it just like everything else… but I had Saiyan blood in me now… and it wasn't about to let go of Bardock." She stroked her heart closing her eyes. "Once we were mated… everything just clicked… I was furious at first… but it all just felt right… I was meant to be here... i was meant to be with Bardock… and nothing else even seemed plausible."
"So wait… AFTER you mated?"
"Yes, now sure Saiyans can have sexual and regular relationships with different beings to satisfy needs for say like sex and the need to reproduce. I'm not Radditz and Goku's mother biologically, oh no, that particular female wanted to mate with Bardock but… and this is me human theorizing here… Saiyans only mate once in life. Mating isn't like marriage where you can get a divorce and move on, it's a bond and a permanent one at that." She paused rubbing her mark thoughtfully. "You can have the pull for many… instinctual lust and hunger… curiosity and need… but mating is all about reciprocation… it's wanting and accepting each other."
Ryanna looked at Yamcha's face and her lips gently curved at his thoughtful and puzzled expression. "What I'm trying to say is Yamcha that being hybrid is complicated… you may have feelings for others but there's only ever going to be one you'll devote your life to. In the end your Saiyan blood will make that decision for you, because it's meant to be."
The way Ryanna made it sound was both confusing and romantic. He could tell she was pulling from life experience but he still had doubts in his mind. After excusing himself from her lab Yamcha went for a walk in the mountain path. He could hear the training sessions of the others and debated whether to join them or not, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it just at the moment. He'd found a true bond in MIrai… and it was strange because she was so much younger than him, but damn it he'd grown attached.
He'd catch himself thinking about her during the day, dreaming about her at night, and there was an ache in his chest and a twist in his gut everytime he imagined her with Vegeta… imagined her mating to him.
The thought of it burned him, he snarled and lay his fist into a nearby tree sending it flying from its roots and colliding into a thicket of others splintering to ruins. Birds flew up and around in a panic, and he imagined the other animals that had been preoccupying the area were probably pissed at him but at the moment he didn't care.
He wasn't just gonna give Mirai up to Vegeta, no way in hell! Vegeta had neglected her all these years, he'd talked about mating, about being with her, but where had he been when she actually wanted him back? More so anytime Mirai gave him attention he'd drink it up then shove her aside again! He couldn't let Mirai go into such a sour relationship.
"I've got Saiyan blood in me now… I don't care if it's only half I will harness it, and I'll get stronger than Vegeta! I'll fight for her if I have to!" Yamcha stared at his hands and her closed his eyes… remembering what Mirai had taught him he reached deep down harnessing the power inside.. using his emotions to help it swell and throb.
Wind blew through his hair and he could hear the sounds of nature whispering to him. The tree leaves rustling, the birds calling out, the water of the stream rushing over rocks, and the pulse of the Earth vibrating under him. Yamcha's eyes flashed open the orbs white and power sparking around him… his aura pushed out grass peeling away from his feet to reveal the soil underneath. He heard himself growl deep in his throat… images of Mirai flashing through his mind, fueling his desire for power, for strength. He screamed, a sort of shriek that was both animalistic and humanly painful.

Goku stalled his fist, barely registering when Krillin landed a hit to his gut. The little bald man's eyes watered and he pulled back rubbing his aching hand that had felt like it had punched through steal. "Do you guys sense that?"
Krillin stopped nursing his hand to glance up at Goku's serious face. He then took a moment and let the click of the power level go off on his sensors. "Hey yeah… someone's powering up… and it's huge! Wow maybe Vegeta's back and he's…"
"No, that's not Vegeta." Mirai interjected landing from the air. "I just left him at Capsule Corps with Radditz… there's no way he'd bypass me in his current state." She held her chest and closed her eyes trying to identify the source. "It's not dad either… and I sense mom's inside the lab."
"Then who… " Krillin drifted off counting the super saiyans in the group with his fingers. "There's no Saiyans left."
"There's one…" Goku said straightening his shoulders. "Looks like your training with Yamcha has paid off in his favor."
"What?" Mirai's eyes widened. "Yamcha? That can't be possible he's…. he's only been training with me a little over a week."
"Maybe you should go over there and find out." Goku suggested with a smirk and a jerked thumb in Yamcha's direction.
Mirai hesitated, wondering if this was some sort of joke they were pulling… but as the power level rose higher and somehow dangerously out of control panic registered over her face. "Idiot!" She took flight going full force towards the beacon of light and power. The wind picked up around her, storm clouds forming overhead and static made her hair stand up. She dodged a thunder bolt and quickly landed. In front of her was a maelstrom of aura, swirling and spiraling wildly around the lone figure. His body sparked and his hair glowed back and forth from black and gold.
"Yamcha!"
His sudden scream pierced her ears and she held them going to her knees as lightning struck from the clouds to the ground hitting the figure below. His body glowed like a fresh light bulb, bright and strong. She had to shield her eyes against the harshness of it and she barely made out the figure amongst the glow. It was turning toward her… and stepped forward, slow and somehow threatening.
She slowly got to her feet her eyes squinting, and her heart thudding hard against her chest… she caught herself backing away and scoffed at herself. She planted her feet and raised her chin meeting Yamcha head on. "So… you've done it! I'm impressed Yamcha I didn't think you were at this level yet. Mind telling me what-"
She was cut off.
"I won't let him have you."
"Huh?" She barely recognized the voice. It didn't sound anything like her lay back friend Yamcha. The voice was too deep, the sound of his breathing too animalistic and gruff.
"I won't just sit back and let another one of those Saiyans take what belongs to me!"
"The hell are you talking about? Yamcha are you alright? Look powerdown and let's talk!" She reached out into the light, gasping when his hand came up lightning quick and squeezed her wrist. Mirai's eyes went wide as saucers and she finally found the face behind the light. The eyes were all wrong, crazed and a thin line of read swirling around the teal. the lines of his face sharp and his muscles were like strong pillars of solid adamantium. She was instantly weakened by his possessive grip and she felt her back hit the tree behind her.
"Yamcha!"
"You're Mine!" Yamcha's mouth latched onto hers. Shock registered all over Mirai's face. Her hands went up only to be pinned against the tree above her head. Her muffled protests were met with a slick wet tongue, it dove into her mouth tangling with hers leaving her speechless. Her hands flexed and twitched in his hold, her breath harsh in her nose, inhaling his masculine scent. All things saiyan bubbled up inside and her tail slid from around her leg and came around to grasp his the limbs tangling together in a motion that was as intimate as the kiss.
Yamcha felt the fight leave and he loosened his hold on her hands letting them fall to his shoulders so his own could circle around her waist and pull her to him. The kiss slid away and was replaced by affectionate nuzzles and kisses down her neck. Mirai panted and her watery eyes stared up at the sky as the clouds split and gave way to a blue sky. "Yamcha… what's got… AH! OW!" The bite was sharp and made her jolt awake. Her hand came up and smacked down onto his head sending him to the ground.
The glow disappeared and the black haired Yamcha sat on the ground grumbling and staring up. "Ow! What was that for?"
"You bit me!"
"Yeah… so? Isn't that what you're supposed to do?"
Mirai's eyebrow twitched… and THIS was the man she was getting sex advice from? "What in the hell possessed you to bite me?"
"That's what you do when you're supposed to mate isn't it? The male bites first and then- GAH!" He dodged a ki blast that she sent launching from the palm of her hand.
"Are you out of your freaking mind, Yamcha? Mating? You and me?" She sent another and chased after him as he made a run for it. "What on Earth possessed you? What sort of stupid person put that idea into your head?"
Elsewhere Ryanna sneezed and rubbed her nose looking around and grumbling about perhaps catching a cold.
"Look stop wait let me explain!" Yamcha held out his hands defensively and cursed as one blast caught his face and he blew out smoke and did a little dance wincing from the singe of it. "LISTEN!"
Mirai halted her attack but kept a ball glowing in her palm just in case. "Start talking."
"I love you!" Yamcha blurted out blushing wildly. "I love you, Mirai! I know it sounds crazy and that I have no business to but being together with you the way we have been, being awaken to this Saiyan blood… I can't just ignore it anymore! I'm… god how did you mother put it… I'm pulled to you! I need you, and I can't just let Vegeta steal you away from me! I had one girl I loved taken from me and I won't let it happen again… I won't!"
The ball disappeared and Mirai's hands fell limp to her sides. She looked as though he had hit her. His words both making her happy and confused. She felt the tug… the hunger and her feet itched to walk forward.
"Yamcha… god… I don't know what to say here." She looked down at her feet her conversation with Vegeta running through her head. "I'm sorry, but, I just don't share that sentiment."
"Excuse me, but that's a load of bull!" Yamcha glared and stepped closer to her again grabbing her shoulders making her tense up. "If you didn't share the sentiment you wouldn't have let me touch you in the first place."
"That's just…. bodily reaction… you know attraction.. .and yeah I like you Yamcha but I don't-" Mirai cut herself off when her eyes lifted to meet his. She found her tongue tying and she swallowed a lump in her throat. She couldn't say it… not to his face.. not when his eyes were staring her down the way they were.
"You're confused, and you're torn between Vegeta and me. I get that, I understand you'll need time, but that's all I'm asking Don't let Vegeta rush you into it… I want you to think about it… think about me." He grabbed her chin and gently lifted her head up to press a gentle kiss against trembling lips.
He felt the whirlwind of her speed the moment he let go. She was off like a shot, running… but at least he'd spoken out this time. He wasn't just gonna lay back this time. "This way, I have no regrets."
Long time coming. Next chapter is gonna be even more trouble followed by the arrival of the androids. How will the group handle all these conflicts?
