Chapter 10: Jubilent

"Oh, come on!" Cindy Neutron cried in dismay as she looked at the clock for the fifty-millionth time that afternoon. It was finally a beautiful May day in New York City and she was stuck inside at the DA's office while the summer breeze caressed her through the open window, reminding her painfully what she was missing and mocking her all at the same time.

Finally deciding that enough was enough, that the day was simply to gorgeous to be spent inside and that all of her paperwork could be done at a later date, or perhaps, given to one of the interns she seemed to have plenty of, she piled everything haphazardly in a "To do… Sometime" pile on her desk and walked out the door.

"Do you want to go get some ice cream?" Were the words she greeted her husband with as she bounded into his office at NeuCo. Sitting beside his desk, Jimmy merely raised an eyebrow at her as she took a seat opposite him. "It's just such a nice day! To nice to stuck inside, don't you think? Let's go!"

Jimmy glanced back down at his stack of papers. "Unlike some people who apparently can play hooky whenever they want, some of us are CEO's of a multi-billion dollar cooperation and cannot simply waltz out of work when the weather is pleasant."

"Some of us need to learn to have a little fun."

Knowing full well where this argument was headed, Jimmy objected anyway. "I do know how to have fun, I simply-"

Already bored with the conversation and getting antsy from her lack of exposure to the sunshine, the blonde simply took her arm and in one grand gesture, pushed the contents of her husband's desk to one side, out of his reach, into a messy pile.

He stared at the pile, at his wife, and then said with a sigh, "You really want to go get ice cream?"

"Yes."

"In Central Park."

"Uh huh."

"At 2:07 pm on a Tuesday?"

"A sunny Tuesday."

He abruptly stood up. "Very well." His wife gave out an excited shriek that made him chuckle and shake his head, "Lead the way my dear."

"Okay, okay," He conceited as they strolled arm in arm around Central Park. "This was a, fairly good idea."

Cindy snorted as she took another bite of her Cherry Nut ice cream cone. "Because of course the great and powerful genius that is James Isacc Neutron cannot possibly conside that someone else would have a brilliant idea."

Finishing up the last of his own double scoop of Rocky Road, Jimmy laughed. "Some things you just never grow out of I suppose." He glanced down at his wife, "You have some ice cream on your face."

"What? Where?"

"Here," He lifted her chin and kissed her deeply.

When he finally pulled back, Cindy started to giggle. "You know we're married now right? You don't need to come up with a cheesy excuse to kiss me."

"Oh I know, its just more fun this way," He responded with a grin before lightly brushing her lips with his again. "What do you say? Once more around the park."

"Lead the way my dear," She quipped. He grinned, and offered her his arm, leading her back through the park back into the warm sunshine.
