Chapter 10 Cat and Mouse

AN sorry its been too long, laptop crashed and had to wait to buy another NEW one. -_- here goes...

"The elevator stopped, why?" asked Rachel. "This is why I hate using elevators." Said Haru. Jill looked around and was about to take a peek when something ugly with eyes looked at her as it hanged. "What the hell..." spoke Parker who drew his gun. The others did as well. But it quickly disappeared as soon as it showed up. The elevator then resumed itself going up as if nothing happened. "Shit, I got a bad feeling." Said Parker. "Yeah, no kiddin." Said Haru. The elevator came to a stop with a room that was filled with stands and had a clear view of the deck and the storm that was still raging outside. The group cautiously moved around the room, it was far to quiet as rumbles from the thunderstorm was heard and the rain beating on the glass window. "Above should be the antenna." Said Rachel. "But that thing must be lurking nearby." Said Haru. "Everyone, keep your eyes open." Ordered Jil. Minutes had passed yet nothing happened. "Never a good sign." Thought Jill. "You think it ran?" asked Haru. "When do they ever?" asked Parker. "Maybe...this one is nice?" asked Rachel. "You think it'll let us play cards with it and sing sing-a-longs with it?" asked Haru sarcastically. "Funny, reaaaal funny." Said Rachel who crossed her arms. "Well, I'm gonna check up on the antenna." Said Haru as he pulled the rope for the ladder which accessed the ladder. But when he did, he yelled out. "MOVE!" and quickly ran dove. A huge bulky figure came crashing down, causing everyone to fall and the boat to rock back forth. It's laid still for a bit as if it was just a rock, but the slowly moved, standing almost 13 feet.

"Shit...this can't be good." Said Parker. It seemed to just stand and move slowly with the eye that they saw on the elevator move around the room. The huge figure had a piece of itself that looked like it was just lying on the floor, but looked like a potential weapon and would easily destroy the ship and kill anyone of them in a single swipe. "What do we do?" asked Parker. "I dunno, but get ready for anything." Said Jill who had her gun aimed at the huge thing. It suddenly changed from its standing stance into something they all knew to well. "It's gonna charge!" shouted out Haru. Just as he said, the thing quickly charged towards Parker as he barely had time to dodge. "How's it moving so fast!?" asked Rachel.

No one had the answer, but all the knew that they had to keep alive and keep moving. "Don't stand still or you'll be a sitting duck!" shouted out Jill who shot a few bullets into the figure, but due to its hard looking shell, it had no effect, but turned its attention slowly to Jill. Just as it was about to charge, it quickly left its arm almost like and slammed it on the ground, making everyone lose balance and fall to the ground. And as soon as they did, the thing charged towards Jill. "Shit!" cursed Jill as she struggled to get up. "Jill!" shouted Parker as he tried to shot and catch its attention. But it seemed whenever it charged, it wasn't going to change its course at all. Jill then quickly rolled over a few dozen times quickly. Just a half second before the thing ran her over. The thing then crashed into one of the stands and stopped. "Thing's pretty smart." Said Haru. "And I don't think using bullets is a good idea...is it?" asked Rachel. "I dunno, usually things that are tough on the inside are soft on the..." Haru stopped mid sentence and shouted. "Hey! I think it's weakness is it's strength!" "Yeah I never liked proverbs Haru! English if you can before we die!" said Parker. Haru simply shot a round to the thing and like Jill, it charged towards him, Haru got into position and was ready to dodge. "Shoot it from behind" said Haru as he dodged out of the way. The others shot rounds after rounds at the thing, hoping to kill or even wound it, but due to its mass and bulk, it simply repeated what it does, turn around, and charge. "Dammit!" cursed Haru. "Any other ideas?" asked Parker who was getting annoyed.

"This thing...thinks like a bull." Said Rachel. "And?" asked Jill. "One." Said Rachel who positioned herself towards the glass window. "Rachel! Don't be a hero!" said Parker. "I'm not!" said said firmly. "I'm tired of being the one who's weak and afraid." She said as she aimed her gun and shot in a burst at the thing. It quickly turned its attention towards Rachel and got its club like arm and slammed it into the ground. Rachel had already predicted this and crouched, make her center of her weight counter the earthquake. It then charged towards Rachel. In just a few seconds, she kept her cool and then dodged right on time before the thing crashed into the glass window and fell into the deck, killing itself due to its weight. Rachel then collapsed on the ground, taking heavy breaths. "I-Am...not doing that...ever-again." She said as Haru and Parker helped her up. "Great Job Rachel." Said Parker as he patted her on the shoulder as did Haru. "You had us worried there for a sec, you okay?" asked Jill. "Peachy...just let me catch my breath." Said Rachel. The group waited for Rachel to catch her breath and headed up to the antenna. Jill opened the door that lead outside with Parker sighing with relief. "Ah...it's good to breath in the fresh air again..." "No argument there." Said Haru with Rachel agreeing. Jill quickly made way to the antenna with no time to waste.

"We got a lot more than we bargained on this ship." She said while heading up the stairs. "Yeah no kidding." Said Haru. "We've been fighting our lives since we stepped on this ship." Said Parker. "Maybe we can hopefully catch our breaths after contacting HQ." Answered Jill. "That'd be nice, for once." Said Rachel. "I'll need to contact HQ as well..." thought Rachel. Jill looked at a red plate and accessed it, from there, the antenna's started to turn in respond. "There, that'd should do it." Said Jill. "Let's give it a shot...hope it works." Said Jill. "This is Vermillion, Headquarters do you read..." asked Jill. "O'brian here...are you three alright?" spoke a voice that Haru, Jill, and Parker knew. "Yes!" Haru cheered while Rachel contacted hers. "Boss, it's Parker, Shit hit the fan here, and it hit really hard." Said Parker. "I know, the whole thing was a setup, and we fell for it." Said O'brian. "...You gotta be..." said Haru. "How do you know?" asked Jill. O'brian gave a long sigh. "Hey, how do you know sir?" asked Haru. No response. "What is it Boss!? Say something!" asked Parker in anger. Another long silence. "You gotta be kidding..." said Haru who was annoyed. "I got an emergency call, Just stay pit." O'brain said before hanging up. "He hung up!?" said Haru. "I can't get a call back." Said Jill. Suddenly. "Parker!" spoke O'brian on Jil's radio. "HQ, what's going on?!" asked Parker. "All hells about to break loose. The solar energy matrix has activated. They're aiming at the Veltro Hideout on the Mediterranean disguised as one of their cruise ships." "The satellites that destroyed Terragrigia!" said Parker. "Are right above us...They can't ignore the ultimatum and destory the ship!" said Jill. "Crap..that's great." Said Haru. "Boss. Get us out of here!" said Parker. Silence over the channel. "Sorry, but I can't authorize that."
