Star City

This morning I woke up to sunshine on my face and a worried dad. He took my temperature and checked all of my reflexes. Making sure that I'm not getting sick. Though everything was fine, I neglected telling him about my sore muscles. From my little shock last night.

I missed gymnastics, and had to work later into the day, on my school work, than usual. Then, after Alli got home, we packed our clothes and made our commute to mom's. Where we spent our evening like clockwork. However, now, I'm doing something different. I'm going to go on patrol in Star City.

Just like in Gotham I printed out a map so I won't get lost. All I'm waiting on now, Alli. I know she's been in bed for a while, but there have been signs that she's might be faking being asleep. So, patiently and quietly, I've been pressed to the bed for the last half hour. Alli mumbles and turns over; twisting the blankets all up around her body.

I've seen her do this before, dozens of times; when she's having a good dream. Slowly, I get up and go to my dresser. I remove the bottom drawer and pick up the clothes that lay underneath it. Thinking about patrol tonight, I slip my suit on and walk over to the side of Alli's bed.

I put my hand in front of her mouth and feel her steady, warm breath. I count it a couple of times. When I'm absolutely positive that my little sister is asleep, I go to the window. pulling back the curtain, trying to keep the light out of Allison's face is my biggest goal right now. I pull the window up and pop the screen out. It makes a loud noise. I turn back around to see Allison sitting up in bed. Dropping the window and the curtain, quietly, I rush back to her.

"Paige?" She says with a high-pitch whine in her voice.

"I'm here Alli? Did you have a bad dream?" She rubs her eyes and shakes her head. "Want me to tell you a story?" She nods then lays back down with Mr. Cuddles tight in her arms. Now I have to tell her a story. I don't know what to do. So, I pull a mom.

"Once upon a time." I started and cleared my voice. "There was a young girl, who was in a terrible accident in her father's lab. She was struck by a highly energized bolt of electricity. Soon, she got the ability to create electricity from her hands. At first she couldn't control this power. It scared her. Then, she had wonderful dream. She was fighting crime just like Batman and Robin."

"Emmy?" Alli interrupts.

"What?" I ask gently.

"What's her name?"

"Penny." I shrug. But I don't think Alli likes it much because she shakes her head fiercely.

"Lilly! I like Lilly better."

"Okay then, Lilly," I put extra emphasis on the name, "Decided to go on patrol in Gotham City, where she met Batman and Robin. Lilly's dream had come true. She fought with the Dynamic Duo all night long. They took down all sorts of bad guys. At the end of the night Lilly needed to go home before her family woke up to find her missing. Robin offered her a ride on his motorcycle. At first she was a little scared but she agreed to go with him. He stopped before they got to her house so they wouldn't wake anybody up. As she turned away from the Boy Wonder he grabbed her arm gently. Lilly's heart beat quickly in her ears as he tugged her ever so slightly closer to him. His lips were millimeters close to hers then, Robin-"

A startling cry escapes my sister and echoes around the room only for a moment. I look down at her Alli's face sound asleep. Noise erupts in the room again from her half open mouth again as a pattern of snores plays out a symphony. I leave her there and slip out into the night street, darting straight into the shadows. I take off, excitement coursing through me as I patrol Star City for the first time.

I've been out for about two and a half hours. I haven't seen anything weird, yet. But I didn't do much in Gotham either, especially not on my first night. Still, I'm excited to have gotten to see everything I have tonight. Adams Heights and the Grell Museum. A few years ago mom and Alli and I all went to the museum. It was the most fun I'd had since my accident.

They were having a huge party to celebrate the opening of the children's wing. When I was playing I got stuck, and there was a little boy there. Secretly he calmed me down before anything bad happened, but he helped me get loose. Then we spent the day playing together, he led me around everywhere. When it was time to leave we both cried so hard, but now I think about it, I can't even remember his name.

I take a step into the alley, a shortcut to the other side of the road, that's when something whizzes by my head. I tuck, duck, and roll behind the big trashcan to my right. What was that! I say to myself. That's when I see a big green guy zoom down from a line attached to the thing that whizzed by my head. An arrow. Does that mean, is that really…

"Green Arrow?" I blurt my question. The man turns to face me. He has blond facial hair.

"Bats told me to keep an eye out for you. Said you might show up here tonight." He has a booming, light, and almost jovial voice. Not at all like Batman.
