Hiiii, sorry about the whole not posting. :/ But this is our longest chapter yet, so no hard feelings, right? RIGHT?!
We still don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Avengers.
Also, I'd like to put out there that the reason it's rated T is because I was worried about violence. So no worries about language or anything. My co-writer would like to say that:
We are not dating
She loves pie
She is best friends with Eddie the Pie
and Hope you enjoy the chapter! :D
Enjoy!
As Elsa stepped out of the portal, her foot sunk into the ash. She seemed not to notice it as she rattled off the statistics for Sector 23.
"Rank: A. Necessity: High. Threat: Low. Current vital inhabitants: Ozai, Zuko." she stopped, with a frown on her face. "That can't be right." She pressed a button on her watch, and seemed to be able see something in thin air. "It says here that there's only two life forms inhabiting this dimension. Lee, do you know what could've cause-" she was cut off by the look on Lee's face.
"Ba Sing Se. It's... Gone." Lee said. Elsa stopped, and for the first time since they arrived, she looked around at the city. The once-thriving city of Ba Sing Se had been reduced to nothing but ash. Here and there a child's toy, broken pottery, or the handle of a basket would remind them that people had once lived here. Lee carried Katara through the ruins, and laid her down on a relatively safe rock.
"What could've happened here?" Lee asked.
"Well, a variety of anomalies could cause the destruction of a city in this fashion, but the most likely is that the officers we just escaped from reported our escape and-" Elsa stopped when she saw Lee's confusion. "IDLE killed everyone on the planet, except for those who weren't present, in this case Ozai, Zuko, Katara, and you."
"But...this was Ba Sing Se, the Impenetrable City. What could have done this?" Lee sounded angry.
"Well, IDLE does have some really powerful, dimension-destroying weapons. I don't know exactly which one they used, but-" Elsa replied seriously.
"Don't get sarcastic with me!" Lee roared. "This- this city...NOTHING can take it down, nothing!"
Elsa looked hurt. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to...never mind."
Lee turned around and saw that Elsa was almost in tears. "I'm sorry," he said. "It's just, this city was untouchable. Now...it's gone. Just ashes. Everything everywhere is ashes. I can't believe it."
"I understand. I know how it feels to have something important taken away from you." Elsa looked down. "Wait. Zuko and Ozai!"
"What about them?"
"They're here."
Lee looked around. "Um, I don't see them."
Elsa rolled her eyes. "Not HERE here, but they're here! Like, close. Maybe...three miles from our current position?"
Lee stared at her. "Remind me again, why do we care about them?"
"Because if we leave them out there alone they'll die! There's no food or water here, and if they use their fire bending to start a fire, the whole world will end up burning! This is not good," she said, more to herself than Lee. "We have to find them!"
She ran off in a seemingly random direction. "Wait! What about Katara?" Lee asked.
"She'll be fine! Just carry her!" Elsa shouted over her shoulder.
"Have you ever tried to carry my sister for three miles? Not fun." Lee said under his breath. He picked up Katara and followed Elsa.
Thirty minutes later, Elsa was still walking at a brisk pace, but Lee had stopped altogether.
"Can we take a break? We've been walking for who knows how long, and how much trouble can Ozai and Zuko get into, anyway? It's not like anyone is going to try to arrest them." Lee panted.
"Sure, we can take a short break. But we have to hurry; anything could've happened." As she spoke, Ozai and Zuko whipped around the corner.
Ozai and Zuko fell out of the portal, landing in soft ash. As the two untangled themselves and stood up, they seemed to forget the battle that had taken place just moments before.
"What is this place?" Zuko asked. Ozai picked up a charred sign.
"Ba Sing Se, the Impenetrable City." Ozai responded, showing Zuko the Earth Kingdom letters.
"Who would do such a thing?" Zuko said quietly.
Ozai grimaced. "I would, had I been able to go through with my plan. Someone must have beat me to it." he said, picking up a small wooden sword. Zuko glared at his father. "You're a monster."
Ozai laughed. "Where do you think your sister got it from?"
Zuko started to reply, but he was interrupted by the sound of voices. One said something like, "They're close. Come on!" Another complained about being tired. Way off in the distance through the slight smoke, Zuko could barely make out two indistinct figures. One was taller than the other and seemed to be carrying something. The other was shorter and moved more quickly. They spoke a little longer and then disappeared behind part of a remaining building, maybe a house or a shop.
"Who were they?" Zuko wondered aloud, drawing his swords.
Ozai looked around. "Who? There's no one else here."
"Just there," Zuko pointed to the wall. "Two people just went back there." He whispered.
Ozai looked again. Then he laughed and said loudly, "A likely story. What, are you going to bring me over there to try to kill me?"
"No I'm serious! There's someone there. Be quiet!" Zuko took one step toward the partial building on the horizon. Ozai turned to follow. All of a sudden, a whooshing noise started up behind them.
Someone yelled "Freeze!" followed by the sound of at least five guns cocking.
Zuko turned around, swords still drawn. Ozai brandished the little wooden sword he had picked up a while ago. The newcomers all wore black armor and black polarized glasses. They formed a V, with two on the left, two on the right, and one in the middle. They had appeared, it seemed, out of thin air. All of their guns were trained on the two fire benders.
The middle one – the leader, Zuko guessed – said, "Drop your weapons and put your hands on your heads! No sudden movements!"
Saying that, of course, made Ozai attack. Zuko tried to stop him. He managed to shove Ozai out of the way before they got shot, and Ozai fell on the ground which stopped him from trying to attack.
As Ozai got up, the leader guy lowered his gun a tiny bit and said, "I'll give you one more warning. Drop your weapons and come quietly, NOW."
Zuko and Ozai exchanged a look. Then they took off toward the wall of the broken building. It really didn't take long, but with the rubble on the ground and the threat of bullets, the run seemed to take forever. Finally they reached the building. Zuko recognized it instantly. "The Jasmine Dragon. Uncle's tea shop," he fell to his knees and picked up a broken tea cup. "He would have been here. He's...he's gone."
Yaaaay! It ended on SUCH a happy note! -Sarcasm.
We both wrote this one, so it's super special!
Loved it? Hated it? Depressed that we killed off everyone? Tell us below! :)
