ENJOYYYYY
"Henry!" I heard Regina shout, her voice cracking halfway through the cry of desperation. I saw Henry stood next to Pan, his heart quiet literally in his hands. His head snapped up at the sound, his eyes widening.
"Mum?"
I had run into Regina, Emma and Neal after running around like a mad woman, desperately trying to find the cavern where Peter and Henry were residing. The pain in my ankle mysteriously disappeared after Pan's appearance, as had all the cuts that had been inflicted by the treehouse throwing me around.
They had explained to me how they had momentarily blocked out the sun with an eclipse, proceeding to then run after Rumpelstiltskin and me. Now, here we were, trying in vain to stop Henry giving his heart to my psychotic boyfriend.
Joy.
"Whatever Pan's telling you to do, don't do it!" Neal shouted, desperation clear in his tone.
Henry's eyes whipped up to his in shock, his hand lowering slightly. "Dad," He breathed, "You're alive?!"
It sucked for Henry. He had just found out the father that he thought was dead was actually alive, and now was about to 'get stuck on Neverland forever'. Or die giving his heart in some sick sacrifice.
"I am, buddy, and I need you to listen to me. Pan's lying to you." Neal explained, obviously wanting to rip Henry away from said devil boy instead of trying to sort it out with diplomacy. However, violence would probably end with a blood bath, which I had the impression Neal was trying to avoid. Said bloodbath would no doubt end in Neal's actual death, hence the avoiding part.
"Pleasure to see you too, Baelfire." Peter smirked, a small vindictive glint in his eye suggesting otherwise. Henry turned around to Peter in confusion, seeming to wonder how they knew each other. "Not to mention the saviour, my girlfriend," He continued, "And the Evil Queen."
I winced at the use of 'girlfriend', trying to ignore Emma and Regina's looks of horror.
"Henry," Emma said calmly, a small tremble in her voice giving away her nerves. "You need to get away from him. He's trying to hurt you."
"No!" Henry denied, holding up his heart, which had a glowing golden sheen around the edge, which I knew only came from the most exceptional of hearts. "The heart of the truest believer. It's what's going to save magic! It's gong to save all of you!"
I couldn't keep the pity from showing on my face, knowing Pan had him well and truly under his thumb.
"No, it's not." Regina sighed, evidently thinking along the same lines as I was. "This was never about magic, Henry. You have to believe us." Her words took up a razor edge. "The only person Pan's interested in saving is himself." She spat, her eyes burning into Pan's with a personal hatred.
"That's not true!" Henry contradicted, seeming like he was trying to convince himself more than he was us.
"Yes it is!" Neal spoke up, reaching for Henry but staying where he was. "Pan can't live without you dying- if you give him your heart, it's going to kill you." He explained, a note of anger seeping into his voice.
Pan laid a hand on Henry's shoulder, looking into his eyes so sincerely I had a hard time not believing him. "They're trying to stem your belief, Henry, but don't let them. Remember. Every hero gets tested."
"Henry," Emma called, Pan turning around to look at her, along with Henry. "I know what being a hero looks like, and this isn't it."
Henry shifted on his feet uncertainly, and Peter just rolled his eyes. "Why would they lie?" Henry asked Pan. It made my heart ache that he would go to Pan for answers, rather than his family.
"Because thats what adults do, Henry." Ironic, coming from an adult himself, even if he didn't look like it. "You know that better then anyone."
Henry's gaze flicked to Emma and then back again, conflicted.
Regina stepped forward in earnest. "Henry, you have to believe us!"
I stepped forward with her, chipping in, "Henry mate, giving away your heart isn't going to solve anything but your inevitable death."
Emma and Neal shot me a look so alike it was almost scary, Regina simply ignoring me.
Peter appeared to be using my interruption to his advantage. "Your parents don't care about Neverland, Henry. They know if you give your heart to save them then you'll have to stay." He turned back to us, a small smirk unknown to Henry playing around his lips. "They're being selfish because they don't want to lose you."
Oh, if only.
I heard Emma take deep breath, her patience apparently wearing thin. "Henry, you have to trust us."
"Trust?" Peter laughed, the dark edge to his voice lost on everyone but me. "I'm the only that has ever been honest with you, Henry. The only one that has ever believed in you."
"Yeah," I snickered. "Believed in your ability to die."
"This is your choice." He continued, ignoring me as he pointed a finger at the offenders of his little ritual. "Not theirs." His eyes turned to the sand rapidly falling into the lower half of the hourglass, his voice lowering. "You have to choose now. We're running out of time."
Henry's eyes widened, not knowing who to believe. "We believe in you, Henry." Neal intervened softly, Emma joining.
"Because we love you."
"More then anything." Regina finished, her voice cracking.
"Yeah," I coughed. "Um, I'd say something inspirational, but I'm out of ideas."
Receiving yet another look from Emma and Neal, I pursed my lips and looked at the floor like a naughty school girl would, had they just been told off by the teacher for backchat.
I've always had a thing for backchat.
"I love you too." Henry replied, smiling softly at them as their faces transformed into ones of relief. Henry's smile dropped, just as a bad feeling settled in the pit of my stomach. "But I have to save magic." Peters smirk grew as Henry turned to him, heart in hand. "I'm sorry."
"Wait- No!" I shouted, Henry giving his parents one final look. He turned to Pan, raising the hand with his heart in backwards. He had lost a lot of weight during his stay on Neverland, and for the first time, I truly saw the effects of Neverland reflecting off him. His usually neat hair was messy and dark, smudges and dust lining his clothes. His hand was shaking slightly, his arm thinner than natural.
I felt a pang of an emotion I couldn't name pass through as I realised what Henry was about to do, the pang quickly escalating into an all consuming panic as Henry slammed his hand into Peter's chest, the force of the impact reverberating off of Pan and throwing Henry backwards to the floor, his eyes rolling into his head as he collapsed.
I swore loudly just as a ring of vibrant emerald light exploded from the point where Pan and Henry were, the force of the powerful magic throwing us all backwards as it expanded. As the ring passed through me, the horribly familiar feeling of dark magic raised the hair on my arms. I had blocked my magic for a reason, not that it did me any good when it came to Pan.
I scrambled up, ignoring the small stones that had be embedded in my palm from the fall. Henry… He looked dead.
No. He- he couldn't be dead.
Not yet.
I ran over at lighting speed, skidding on the rough stone ground. Emma, Regina and Neal followed shortly after, their eyes wide and panicking. I held my trembling fingers to his neck, panic rising in my throat as I felt nothing. I moved my fingers down a bit, cursing, and then to the side, and then to the other side-
"There!" I gasped in relief, feeling a pitiful throb against my fingers, the tiny heartbeat fading rapidly.
"Oh god," Emma gasped, her hand over Henry's heart. "Is he unconscious? Henry! Can you hear us?"
I released my fingers from his neck and leant back on my knees, running a hand through my hair. Neal pulled off his bag, setting it down on the floor as he anxiously watched Henry. "I think he passed out as soon as his heart went into Pan."
"Is he breathing?"
"Hang in there, buddy."
Emma turned to Peter, who was watching with disinterest. "What the hell did you do to him." She threatened, drawing her sword as she walked towards Pan. I had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.
"Technically, I didn't do anything." Peter replied lazily, ignoring Emma's threatening stance. "Henry gave me his heart of his own free will."
Emma tightened her grip on her sword and aimed it steadily at Pan, advancing on him. "I'm gonna take it back from you." She launched herself forward at Pan, only to find thin air.
"I don't think you have it in you." His voice sounded from behind us, and I slowly eased onto the balls of my feet, preparing to stop Emma before she did anything rash and got herself killed.
He picked up Pandora's box from an outcropping of rough edged rock, spinning it idly in his fingers. "Rumpelstiltskin didn't. Why should you?"
Emma kept her sword trained on Pan as he walked around us. My eyes didn't leave the box in his hands, knowing Gold was inside. I wondered vaguely what it was like- if it was as bad as the stories said, anyway. But then again, the stories usually got things wrong. The Evil Queen was Snow white's step mother, the 'beast' was actually Rumpelstiltskin, Alice in wonderland actually fell in love with a genie.
"Where is he?" Emma asked, a small nervous tremble echoing in her voice as she snapped me back to reality.
"What did you do?" Neal asked lowly, looking up from Henry at the mention of his father.
"He's right in this box." Pan laughed darkly, throwing it into the air and catching it again like a child would play with a ball, not a weapon of mass destruction. "Unfortunately for you, he is officially out of the way, and can no longer do any damage." He smiled slightly, glancing up at Emma from his view of the box. "And neither can you."
"Really?" Emma replied, lunging forward and slashing Pan's arm with the tip of her blade. I cursed under my breath, knowing pissing him off wasn't exactly going to help. "How did that feel?"
His smirk widened, watching the wound heal over within a matter of seconds. "Like a tickle." He eyes swept over mine for a spilt second, a thought seeming to flash behind them. He appeared to be having an inward battle with himself, his jaw flexing as he made up his mind.
He jumped into the air as easily as someone would take a step, sending a vexatious grin at Emma as he soared out of the cavern and into the open sky.
I stood up from my crouch next to Henry as Emma walk over to us, an angry glint in her hazel eyes. "You're going to be alright, Henry." Regina soothed to his unconscious body, giving the impression she was just trying to reassure herself rather than him.
I mean, he couldn't actually here her.
Jeez, what else did she expect?
"We're going to get you home."
And again with the self assurance thing.
She waved her hands slowly over Henry's torso, a golden sheen covering him as Regina's face twisted in concentration. "This preservation spell should keep him going for a while longer." She explained. "Which gives us time to get to Pan."
"Has he told you anything?" Emma turned to me. "Do you know where he's gone?"
I stared at her, deadpan. "How should I know? It's not like I was in on his master plans."
"That's not helping, Arilis." Regina snapped, glaring at me, her next words sending a shiver down my spine. "We find out where he went, and we kill him."
"Where is he!" Regina bellowed, storming into the lost boys camp that we had taken over. I winced at her tact, or more, lack of tact. the boys weren't going to tell her shit. I watched with faint amusement as she grabbed the lapels of Felix's cloak, shaking him with anger.
"Gone," He smirked, "And there's nothing you can do. He's already won." He leaned around her, his eyes focusing on mine as his smirk widened. "Peter Pan never fails, Ari. You should know that by now."
My eyebrows rose as I pushed off the tree I was leaning against, walking over to them both as Regina continued with her threats. "You won't talk?" She snarled. "Fine. I'll make you talk." Her hand rose as she prepared to rip his heart out, but I caught her wrist and shook my head.
"That's not the way to do it, mate." I turned to Felix, smiling slightly as I saw regret at his previous words flash in his eyes. "We never did get to have that fight." I said, turning towards him as I drove my fist into my face.
I sat next to a pissed off Felix on the damp log, 'In disgrace'. So what I had punched him? Regina was about to rip his heart out, and I don't see anyone putting her on the naughty step.
"Guys," Emma began, addressing all of the lost boys as she started her 'Join me' speech. I actually felt Felix roll his eyes. "We are not going to hurt you. I know you're loyal to Pan, and I get that. But you are making a terrible mistake. For a long time, I thought I was never going to find my family. I was an orphan- a lost girl, but I was reminded today that I am not alone. That I have a lot of people that love me," I saw Snow and Charming look at each other, small smiles beginning to spread, no doubt at Emma's announcement. They didn't want anything more than to be parents to Emma. "I never thought that could happen. If that can happen to me, then it can happen to you."
Felix leaned forward, venom seeping into is voice. "Pan is the only family we need." This was joined by murmurs of agreement from the older boys, all steadfast loyal to Pan, just as Felix was.
"Yeah," I snickered. "If you need a psychotic older brother on crack. Ow." Felix elbowed me hard in the ribs as the lost boys laughed.
"Family doesn't do what he did." Emma reasoned, trying to recapture her audiences attention, away from Felix and I's bantering. "He made you do terrible things. He lied to Henry, and convinced him to give up his own heart!"
I could feel the older boys getting pissed. "It was to save the island." Luke spoke up. I had met him a while ago, when he had been congratulating me for kicking Devin's ass.
"No, to save himself!" Emma replied. I could hear a note of exasperation seeping into her voice.
"Don't listen to her." Felix said to the younger boys, who were looking somewhat conflicted. "Pan cares about all of us."
This was met to whoops of agreement and an easy grin across Felix's face. Emma looked uncomfortable, struggling to maintain control over the situation. They were lost boys- hardly going to go down without a fight.
Me?
I didn't know which side I was on anymore.
That was bad.
Very bad.
Crap.
"No, he doesn't. We do. We care about all of you." She stood up and addressed all of the boys. "We can save you! We can take you home with us, to our land!" I saw Felix narrow his eyes on the younger boys, who had looked at each other, obviously considering her proposal. "You don't need to fear Pan anymore, until he absorbs the power from Henry's heart, he can be stopped. You just have to tell us where he is."
Felix stood slowly, advancing on Emma. "Leave now, while Pan still allows you to breathe." Hook lay a… hook on his shoulder, forcing him back on the log next to me. "That's the only hope you'll get."
Dark laughter echoed around the camp, setting Emma on edge as she leant down to Felix. "Where is Pan."
He got in her face, his smirk widening. "Not. Telling."
I stifled a laugh as Felix had a stare off with Emma, feeling him kick me as I coughed to smother my laughter.
"Can you really take us home?" One of the youngest spoke up, drawing Emma's, and, unfortunately for him, Felix's attention.
"Shut your mouth." Felix threatened at the boy, voicing the opinions of the other older ones that were glaring in the boys direction.
"Yes." Emma replied, walking over to him and ignoring Felix, who sent me a panicked look.
"I don't know what you expect me to do." I hissed at him. "I'm on their side."
He turned to look at me, eyes narrowed quizzically. "You would betray your lover so easily?" He said, but it was a question.
I rolled my eyes. "He's not my-"
"Yes he is," He interrupted, my mouth open to reply but the boy spoke up.
"His thinking tree." The boy said simply, inducing cries of rage around the camp, including from Felix. Many 'snitch's came from them, too.
"What is that?" Emma asked earnestly.
"It's where he goes when he wants to be alone." The boy replied, encouraging more and more curses from the older boys.
"No! Stop it, now!" Felix shouted at the boy, struggling against Hook's grip.
Emma looked triumphant, turning to the other young ones. "You can find him there, it's not far." Another spoke up, promoting yet more curses from around the camp.
"No! Don't trust her!" Felix shouted at them, backed up by various shouts of agreement.
"Can you tell us where that is?" Emma asked them both.
After sharing a glance with each other, one nodded.
Boy, were they gonna get hate for this.
"Yeah. But you have to swear, swear, that you'll take us with you."
Emma nodded, tears in her eyes. "I promise. We are all going home."
"Team Good strikes again," I whispered to Felix, snickering as he kicked me once more.
"Look," Regina says, pointing to a small rock where Pandora's Box just so happened to be resting.
We had been trekking through ancient pixie woods for at least twenty minutes and the only thing eventful that had happened was when I 'accidentally' pushed Regina into a bush.
Emma drew her sword, slowly advancing on the box, looking around for any suspicious activity. Snow, being the naive girl she was, happily set down her arrows and reached for the box like it was a stick or something, not a mystical item with powerful properties.
"Careful," Regina warned, pausing Snow. "Pan wouldn't have just left it behind for no reason."
Snow turned to her. "It's David's only way home." She argued, starting off another relentless argument between the two.
I eyed the box with distaste, knowing Gold was inside. I had a bad feeling about this, and glanced down at my hand to see a small vine slowly working it's way around it. My eyes widened with panic. "Uh, guys- "
I cursed as another one wrapped around my waist faster than possible and threw me backwards, my back slamming against an enormous tree, Regina, Emma and Snow quickly following suit as more vines grabbed them.
Well, fuck.
Hellllooo :)
I have considered, on more than one occasion, Peter actually getting storybrooke like he wanted to :/ dont know at the mo, but Ari is getting conflicted as to which side shes on, *gassspppppp*
REVIEW, I UPDATE, MY LOVLIES :D
****Deleted Scene****
"Hey, Hey Devin." I taunted to the dark haired lost boy. "Hey, Devin boy, hey. Guess what?"
He continued to annoy me, but I was in one of those moods. "Guess what, Devin boy?"
Finally, he stood up from the log and turned on me, an angry scowl etched on his features. "What?"
I drew my fist back and slammed it into his nose. "My hand hurts."
