Well, well, well. Look who decided to update. Explanations?! Do I have some? You bet I do. Do you want to hear them? Probably not but I will still state them anyways. So first off, I was working at this over night ish camp and they wouldn't let me use the internet, so I couldn't type let alone update with all those little ones running about. Then School started and I was whip lashed into this new schedule. Then I decided to go and have a mental breakdown which didn't help, at all. I'm still happen to be having problems, but for you, I will always write.
Anyways. After all that. Here is your well deserved chapter and I hope you enjoy.
It was day 3 of the Avengers forced vacation. They had finally decided to let go of their grudge towards Fury. (For now.) At the moment, Loki and Tasha were reading, while John and Sherlock were watching television. It was all peaceful and quiet until Clint ran into the room.
"Natasha. We need you." he then turned and left before hearing her answer or waiting to see if she would fallow. She set her book down and left the room after him. Loki and Sherlock went back to what they were doing while John seemed to be the only one who was worried.
"Shouldn't we go see if everything is alright?"
"If they needed us, they would have asked for our help." John glared at Sherlock. He then got up.
"Well I'm going to go and see if they are okay." He left the room in a huff. After a couple of minuets and John hadn't returned, a mental agreement was reached between the two telepaths that they should go and see what was going on. They both got up and headed for the door. They walked for a couple of minuets until they heard shouting. They rushed in through the door ready for the worst. What they saw was about the opposite of what they were expecting.
There in the center of the gym was a large square the had been divided in to four smaller squares. Natasha, Bruce, Tony and Thor were all standing in the large square. Natasha had what looked like a toy ball. She bounced in once in her own square and then passed across from her to Thor who sent it down right onto the corner of Bruce's square, where it then proceeded to bounce out of his square.
"Sorry friend Bruce." Bruce moved out of his square and to the back of a the line. John walked into the square Thor had just moved out of.
"That's fine Thor. It's just how you play the game. Oh. Hay Loki. Sherlock. You guys want to play 4-Square with us? The more the merrier." Sherlock looked over at Loki and they both shrugged and headed for the end of the line. "Oh and no powers Loki." She gave a quick nod and listened as Bruce explained for her.
"So this is why you needed Natasha? We thought it was something serious." Clint looked over at her and glared.
"It is. We needed some one who doesn't give a darn about treaty's."
"Your right Clint. Oh, and your out." She gave him an evil smile as Clint indignantly stomped out of his square. Loki smiled at this. It took a little bit until she was finally in the first square. But she hadn't been wasting her time. Instead she had decided to watch to run reconnaissance on her team and find there strengths and weaknesses that pertained to the game.
Tasha was calculated and knew how to send the ball too other squares. She was good. Loki could have told you that just by knowing Natasha. Then their was Clint. He never missed but he was easy enough to be distracted. Bruce did his best and new how to aim but it was also easy enough to get him out. Same with Thor. Except he was a little over eager when it came to the whole passing thing and usually got himself out. John and Tony seemed to play the same way except that Tony had a little more reason to his madness then John, who seemed to flail around blindly. It might sound awful but that was really the only way to describe it. He may have been a good military man. One of strategy but, when it came to this game, he was sorely lacking.
She waited as Tasha dropped the ball and then sent it over to Loki. It hit the space right in front of her and then bounced towards her. She brought one hand up and then looked to the side to see that Thor was really not paying attention. She pivoted to the side. dropping the ball in the very edge of Thor's square. Where it proceeded to then bounce out. Thor looked at her in utter disbelief.
"But Loki. We are family. Why would you get me out?"
"Because you were just in my way brother." Loki found herself laughing at how idiotic Thor's question had been. "But don't take it so personal. It was either you or Tony." Thor nodded his head, but seemed truly crushed by the fact that she would so willingly get him out. Clint threw her a look but she actively ignored it. She almost felt bad except for the fact that it was just a game. Thor was replaced by Sherlock. Now since Sherlock was behind her in the line she hadn't seen him play but Sherlock had seen Loki play so he was a wild card, (If that was how you said that) and Loki didn't like unknown players.
"You look a little worried, Detective?" Sherlock gave Nat a look.
"A normal man against superheroes, as the public call you? Not really what you would call fair, but I'll still play." Loki almost burst out laughing when he said that he said he was 'normal.' She saw John doing the same thing.
'I wouldn't call you normal by any stretch of the imagination.' Sherlock looked over to her and she flashed him a smirk.
'Shut up Loki.' She smiled at him. She could feel him trying to mask his emotions but as she looked deeper, she could see that he was amused by her banter. She would have to show him how to bury his emotions deeper or they could get him into trouble. But for now she would tease him relentlessly while she had the upper hand.
'Make me.' She could feel him forming a retort but suddenly Natasha was serving and the game was going. After a couple of minuets the game has gotten quite intense and Sherlock seems to be fairly good at this game. Loki sends Sherlock what is referred to as a "cherry bomb." Sherlock received the ball and sent it over to Tony who because of his height and the height that the ball bounced, Tony wasn't able to receive the ball and it bounced right over his head. This was fallowed by some profanities. And then something about Sherlock being "So not normal." This was what finally sent Loki and John into a fit a of laughter.
"What? Was it something I said?"
"Yes Stark. It was something you said." Tony turned to look over at John with a weird look on his face. Loki quickly sobered up and looked over at John and then Sherlock in horror. John seemed to quickly realize what he had just said and all three suddenly felt sick. You didn't have to be a superhuman or a genius to infer something that could be disastrous. Loki felt as if the whole world had suddenly slowed. She saw that everyone slowly turned to look from John to Sherlock and Loki could see the questions forming in her teams eyes and she prayed that those questions would stay in there minds. Must not have worked because she never believed in a deity.
"Wait what?" Loki was about to kill Natasha for asking the question. "What do you mean, it was about something Tony said." Loki held out some hope for her silver tongue. But with its track record recently, there was little hope, and she knew it.
'Loki. We need to do something. They are going to roast us alive.' She could feel her heart rate rising and she needed to calm down and work this out. Freaking out had never helped before and it wouldn't start now. She breathed for a moment and readied her words, already feeling this doing nothing but turning bad.
"Well why don't we stop beating around the bush and just ask Tony what he meant. Tony? Explain." The eyes that had been staring accusingly at Sherlock now turned to Tony. This gave the men a moment to relax. But only a moment if even that. 'Look, Sherlock. If they ask me, I will tell them. I can't, won't lie to them. So you better hope that Tony is either drunk off his butt or that he decides to wait until later to ask us what the heck is going on.' Loki new he was neither drunk and that he wouldn't wait, but one could hope that the Universe hadn't shifted and left Tony sober. She turned her attention back to Tony and waited for his response. He was stuttering around trying to get his mind in order.
"Well I didn't mean anything by it. It was just a Joke. And then those two," Tony pointed from Loki to John, "started laughing and then John said what he said and well now this." Tony motioned to all of them as they took a moment to soak it in. And they all seemed to just think that it was a coincidence. Then Natasha, always having to be the clever one, turned to look at Loki.
"Well? Are they normal or something else?" Loki felt a lump form in her throat as all eyes turned on her. The eyes of her team mates were going back to New York, and the gears in their minds were turning out the possibility that whatever she said, would be a lie. And Sherlock and Johns had looks of worry. Well Mostly John. Sherlock seemed to be resigned to her telling them the truth.
'Do what you must do Loki. I don't want this to damage your relationship with them.' Loki would have dwelt on the warmth that seemed to rise in her heart except that everyone was expecting an answer. She closed her eyes a moment as she pushed away her fear. She new better then most that emotion was weakness and this wasn't a time to let it get the better of her. She opened her eyes and spoke.
She related the story of how the men had come by there powers and how it had changed there lives and then how she came to know about the powers. In the end Loki paused to gauge all of there expressions. Bruce and Steve were looking down at the ground. She could practically see the disappointment rolling of these two men. Then there was Tasha and Clint who at some point had gone into defensive stances and she could see the distrust growing in there eyes. And then there was Tony and Thor. Both had there mouth's gaping open and they looked utterly shocked. Loki had expected this reaction from her team, but she still felt a stone growing in her chest at the thought of what they might do. Just as Loki was about to speak to calm the moment, Sherlock spoke up.
"It isn't Loki's fault. John and I forced her not to tell any of you. We didn't want you and your SHIELD scientists to try and dissect us or put us on some watch list." Loki would have smiled at the fact the Sherlock was trying to defend her, a limp defense, but defense still the same. Though common sense told her that it wouldn't do any good.
"Be that as it may, Loki still should have informed us and then we would have handled this as we handle all thing." Steve and the rest of the team, except Tony, had turned to glare at Loki.
"As a team."Bruce stated. The team nodded there heads and then slowly they all turned to leave. After mere moments, the light, happy mood had been made more dead then a Hydra agent. Loki couldn't believe that such a thought had just gone through her mind. Once Thor had left, giving Loki a particularly sad look, it left Loki, Sherlock, John and Tony. After an awkward moment Tony spoke.
"Well. I'm glade that you two aren't some normal pair of dudes, but super freaks like the rest of us. Would have been far to, boring." With that Tony left, most likely in search of scotch. Loki smiled after her friend. She was glade at least he wasn't completely mad at her. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Sherlock and John moving to leave. Just before they left, John tried to speak.
"Loki. We're truly,.."
"No. Its all right. Its better that this came out now instead of later." She looked up at John and gave him a reassuring head nod as they left. Loki let out a heavy sigh. She bent over and picked up the ball that only minuets ago had brought a calm over there frazzled team. She bounced it once and then threw it into the the rack with the rest of the equipment.
"Well. I guess it's time to fix this."
End Note. PLEASE READ: So since you are probably like, "Agh! I have to wait so long." (Which hopfully won't happen this time, but ya know.) I decided to catch you with this little note. I am only going to be working on this story and "On the Side of Angels" for the time being so that I can finish these mother loving stories. When one is finish I shall pick up one of my other story's and then proceed from there.
So ya. Should hopefully open up my writing shedual. Knowing me, I will probably crack now and then but we shall see. Anyways. Not abandoning any story. Just consaladating to help you and me.
Shout outs to all who have reviewed. You have no idea how they help me and encourage me. And to all who have favorited and fallowed this story. You all make this story go. I love you and hope to have another chapter up as soon as I can. Love you all.
