Yuuki

Kuruno sat rigidly beside me the entire way in the cab, a hiss lightly making its way through his lips before he leapt out of the cab, practically at warp speed. He quickly grabbed the small bag that held everything we both owned before grasping my hand and taking off towards the forest. His hand was firm, and grasped mine with an urgency and iron grip.

Once we were out of sight of everything, he knelt down and practically slung me onto his back before shooting off with a wary glance towards a building not far from where we were. His eyes were full of hatred, fear, and panic but I didn't see his face for long as he took off.

"Crap…" He growled, a burst of speed propelling us across a river and through multitudes of trees. The wind whipped at my face furiously; it was almost as bad as someone lashing my face and hands with vines.

"Care to explain what was going on back there?" I yelped, fearful of the tree branches he passed with ease. I could see myself being slung into one of those trees and breaking like a ragdoll. Shivering, I clung tighter to him, and I knew that he would've smirked had we not been in imminent danger.

"My father was watching us." He started, dodging trees left and right before suddenly turning to the side and taking off.

"I can feel him… he's after us." He growled, running faster than I thought even a vampire could. "He wants me to come back to him, but I refuse…"

"Why? Why are you running from him, or better yet, why won't you go back?" I asked, but he shook his head.

"Yuuki, there's a lot of problems between my father and I. My father wants me to come back to him so I can be his little puppet. I'll have to explain more once I find somewhere I can talk without worrying about my father attempting to kill me," He paused, taking in a gasp of air.

"Or you."

I took off in the direction I was told they went, my heart beating extremely fast. Would she be okay? Would she even want to see me? I shook my head, revving the engine on my motorcycle and shooting off even faster.

I blew through a red light, making a lot of friends as I blew through the intersection. They could kiss it for all I cared; Yuuki was my top priority.

A car drove up beside me, the driver flicking me off and trying to outrun me. I chuckled, flipping him off in return before taking off faster, my bike practically flying on the pavement as I raced towards where I believed they might've gone.

I made my way to the edge of the forest, parking my bike under a building not far away when I felt an odd and ominous presence shoot down my spine.

A pureblood…

I looked around, but then I realized that the presence was stale, and I shook my head. Geez, I really need to get a grip… Why was I so jumpy? I closed my eyes, and three scents hit me most prominently. Two purebloods and a mortal… Yuuki!

My eyes snapped open, the scent of fear lacing around me and telling the tale of what had inevitably happened. Wait—it wasn't the smell of fear from Yuuki… It was the pureblood accompanying her!

But why would that pureblood have been afraid?

Shivers raced down my spine as I realized that Yuuki may be trapped in a spider's web of danger much larger than I expected. I could only pray she would be okay as I ditched my bike, grasping the money and belongings I had attached to it before stuffing them into a backpack and taking off into the forest.

I followed the scent of Yuuki for a very long way, adrenaline pumping as the trail got fresher and fresher.

I could only hope I could get there on time…

Yuuki

We eventually stopped in a small town after hours of Kuruno running. He let out a sigh as we checked into the small inn that stood towards the edge of the town, his eyes full of frustration and something else that I couldn't quite place… I wanted to say fear or panic, but that wasn't it. It alarmed me that he didn't even seem tired, but that's Kuruno for you.

"Enjoy your stay!" The all-too-chipper desk attendant chirped, handing Kuruno our key and shooting me a glare. She purposely brushed her hand with his, shooting me a look of triumph before flirting with him even more.

"Would you like anything from the back…?" She practically purred, walking out from behind the desk to grab his arm, pressing her unnaturally large chest to his arm. She leaned forwards, whispering in his ear in hopes that I wouldn't hear, but I did anyways.

"That girl you're with must be really boring, with her flat chest and all… What do you say…?" She rolled her eyes at me, placing a card with what I assumed was her number in his pocket.

Then I snapped.

I don't know what came over me, or why I happened to do what I did. I don't even remember moving; all I could remember was a darkness rising within me as I stalked towards the two. Kuruno's smirk quickly faded as he saw the flames of hatred in my eyes, but he was too late to stop me.

I grasped her arm, yanking her back with a strength I didn't know I had before flat-out slamming my closed fist into her nose. I could feel the bones crushed beneath my fist, but I didn't care. She let out a screech, and I only smirked, loving the satisfaction that ran through my veins.

"You broke my nose!" She screeched, holding her nose that was gushing blood. I rolled my eyes, cocking my hip slightly to the side, casually wiping the blood off my fingers on my jeans.

"You're face was mostly plastic anyways." I spat, a sinister smirk appearing on my lips. What had gotten into me…? Well, whatever it was, I needed it more often.

She screeched indignantly, throwing herself at me and grasping my hair and tugging, but it didn't hurt at all. Zero had always used to pull my hair to tease me, and now I guess that it was paying off.

I quickly took my fist and slammed it onto her throat, pushing her back. Her nails raked across my face and drew blood, but I didn't care. Her knee slammed into my side, but I still kept going, the image of Zero burning brightly in my mind.

'Remember, Yuuki, Don't let them get you to the floor. If they're heavier and they get you to the ground, you're screwed. A hit to the solar plexus will knock them right over…' Zero had said, smirking at me. He had me pinned to the ground, and I only rolled my eyes at him.

His words rang in my head, and my muscles snapped into action. My moves were fluid as I struck out, my fist hitting her straight in the middle of her torso. I could hear the air slipping out in a whoosh from her lungs, and I used that as my moment to strike her down.

I lunged, throwing her to the ground with all of my weight. I sat on her stomach, my fist slamming into her face. Her hands came up to smash into my face, but I didn't care. I barely recognized the knife that she had in her hands until it managed to slice open my jaw, but I didn't stop. I slapped the knife away, smashing her face again before being pulled away, strong arms encasing me.

"Enough, princess…" A deep voice whispered in my ears, helping to soothe my temper as he pulled me away, heading up the stairs with me and placing me on the bed before walking outside.

His calm voice met with a male and gruff one, but their words were blurred. Eventually, Kuruno slipped back inside, coming to my side with a prideful yet tentative look in his eyes.

"Are you alright, Yuuki…?" He asked, reaching out to touch me but quickly pulled back, backing up against the wall and running his hand through his hair.

He threw a piece of fabric at me, his breathing labored as he slid to the floor, his hand covering his eyes.

I quickly wiped off as much blood as I could, quickly making my way into the small bathroom to assess the damage. Her fingernails had left a slight red mark on my face, and my nose had a slight bit of blood trickling out of it but quickly stopped. The worst was the cut on my neck that was inflicted with a knife, and it refused to stop bleeding. I walked out of the bathroom with a fresh cloth pressed against the cut, but she had gotten me fairly good. The blood permeated through the cloth even still, but my mind was focused on Kuruno.

He hadn't moved from the wall, but looked up at me when I walked in. A shudder so slight that I thought I must've imagined it ran through him, his eyes a dark shade of blue as he stared at the cloth on my neck.

"Kuruno… are you alright…?" I whispered, coming closer to him. He let out a hiss, but didn't push me away. I reached out with my free hand and grasped one of his, but he let out a growl.

"Yuuki… don't get so close to me…" He hissed, his eyes flashing red with bloodlust before going back, his body trembling as he tried to look at everything but me.

My hand pulled the cloth away from my neck, and I brushed my hair back, but he merely gave me a pained look.

"Yuuki… Stop it… I don't want to hurt you…" He let out another growl, his eyes meeting mine and I was completely frozen.

His eyes shone with a deep and primitive lust, his dark stormy eyes raking down my figure before closing, a shudder running through him. His hand came up to his face, his fangs elongating and piercing his lip. Blood ran in rivulets down my neck, but I ignored it, staring at the crimson bead that leaked down his lip.

"Kuruno… You were running a long time today… When was the last time you had any blood?" I asked, and his eyes snapped open and met mine with a warning.

"Around a week or two… How long ago did I meet you?" His voice rumbled, slightly uneven. He stared at the crimson streak running down my neck, but he still remained at still as a rock.

"Stop being so stubborn… I can't have you being weak on me…" Suddenly, I was against the wall, his tongue lapping up the blood that trailed down and pooled at my collarbone. A growl rumbled in his chest, and I realized we were standing up. How had he moved so fast?

His body caged me to the wall, a red glow emitting from his eyes as his tongue ran over the cut in my neck. A quick and searing pain pierced my neck, making me whimper but then it stopped hurting. Instead, endorphins rushed through me, and I realized that the bite of a pureblood wasn't that bad; I felt like I was floating.

It ended all too suddenly, and I whimpered at the crash back down off my high. I felt his tongue run down my neck one last time before he pulled himself away, glaring at me.

"Damn you, Yuuki! Do you even realize how dangerous that was?" He glared furiously at me, running a hand through his hair. "What if I hadn't had the strength to stop, Yuuki? I could've killed you!"

"But you didn't. You stopped." I barely recognized my own voice; it was much smoother than usual. His eyes were piercing, but I didn't care if he was mad at me or not. "I'd rather you have my blood than suffer. Plus, you need strength, and I owe you."

"Owe me for what?" He scoffed, slamming a hand on either side of my head, effectively caging me in. "Owe me for kidnapping you and taking you away? For possibly putting you in more danger than you already were? For causing you so much pain?"

"Exactly." I spat back, and a look of shock entered his eyes. "I never want to go back to that place. I asked you to take me away because it would've hurt too much to go back… Looking back at it, perhaps I overreacted, but I'm happier here than I would've been back there. It isn't anything I didn't already ask for, so stop looking for ways to blame yourself!"

"How do you think I feel?" He hissed, his eyes narrowing slightly as he spoke. "I saved you, yes… but I've put you in a situation where death isn't the worst fate that you could have… I took you here and now you're hurt. I shouldn't have let you run away with me… I should've sent you back. Then you wouldn't be in so much danger…"

"What do you mean by death isn't the worst fate for me…?" I asked, my eyes widening, but he only sighed and backed away from me, grasping my hand and pulling me towards the bed.

"It's time I explain why my father is after me…" He started, sighing before launching into a long explanation.

"My father is a pureblood with a lot of power. He's one of the highest and most well-known purebloods out there, and he wants me to come back to him so I can be the icon of his little campaign."

"You see, there are three sides of the Purebloods right now. One side believes that we should take a select few humans and turn them into purebloods, and then eradicate the rest. The other side believes that humans deserve nothing but to be slaves and to serve the Purebloods. They want to take humans and give them a high amount of a specific drug that will essentially take away their ability to think for themselves."

"The third side believes that we should stay the way we are, but my father is trying to rise through the ranks. My father believes that we should have only the best humans with the highest intellect or physical strength become low-ranking purebloods. For the other mortals, he would take the ones best suited for servitude and then kill off the rest." Chills raced down my spine, but I didn't make a sound as he continued.

"My father has always had a hatred for mortals, since my mother was killed by them. They burned her alive, and my father was forced to feel her pain through the bond they had. He felt everything until she died, and I think it drove him mad. The only reason he's saying he would turn any mortals now is so he can gain supporters, but I doubt he would. He wants me to be the icon of change, but I don't want it."

"I ran away from my father because he wanted me to marry a pureblood girl that supposedly has a vast amount of powers so that he can gain more political strength, but I disagree with him. When I told him that, he locked me in a cellar for weeks without blood, food, or water. He let me out and nursed me back to health, and then he beat me and practically forced me at the girl."

"He ended up trying to use compulsion on me to force me to... have my way with her, so I would have no other option but to marry her." He curled his lip in distaste, shaking his head and gave me a sideways glance.

"I realized it before we got that far and I broke away from his compulsion and packed up my things that evening. I didn't have much, but I stole his credit card and bought myself some clothes. I withdrew most of the money in his account and got the heck out of there. I ended up at your school, and you know the rest."

"But now, I know my father is after me… and I'm afraid he'll take the only thing I care about and use it as bait for me to be a good little dog and be his little slave." He looked up at me with probing eyes, as if my reaction was the most critical thing in his life.

"Your dad sounds like an... uhm... A buttface!" I said the first thing that came to mind, and he let out a laugh at my failed attempt at an insult, nodding his head in agreement.

"Yeah, he is... I forgot to ask… why did you nearly kill that girl downstairs?" He raised an eyebrow at me, and I could feel the lava filling my cheeks. Why did he have to ask this now?

"I don't know. To be honest, all I remember is suddenly getting mad and then I had hit her. After that, I just fought off of instinct and training." I shrugged, leaving out my odd overly-possessive thoughts.

"Right…" He said, rolling his eyes at me before laying down on the bed, and I could tell he didn't believe me.

"That little bitch…!" A female voice swore, loud stomps echoing as she marched away from the inn. Her hand grasped her painfully throbbing nose, and her eyes shot daggers at the inn. She wasn't even paying attention before she walked straight into me.

"Watch where you're going." I spat, moving away from her quickly. My only goal in mind was to find out where Yuuki was, but the scent trail became muddled with the scent of others that frequently walked the road.

"Why, hello there, handsome…" She practically threw herself at me, pressing her fake chest up against mine and wrapping her arms around my hips.

"Get the hell off of me." I spat, numb of emotion as I heard a familiar voice from inside the inn, but it wasn't as if I could get up there with whoever this was glued to my hips.

"Oh, come on… Don't be like that." I was revolted by her behavior and quickly pushed her aside, my mind focused on the inn before I walked inside, leaving a pouting girl behind who quickly stomped off.

I shook my head, realizing that I couldn't just waltz up to her room. How could I possibly get upstairs without being noticed? I racked my brain for any idea whatsoever, but then it hit me. I quickly made my way outside, my eyes adjusting quickly to the night's darkness before I climbed up the fire escape.

Definitely longer than usual, eh? Eh? Did I do good? This chapter took a little while to write, but it was worth it~
