Disclaimer: I don't own the Justice League. And I don't foresee that changing anytime soon.
So, here's another chapter, have fun reading, and I'm pretty sure there was something else I wanted to put down here, but I can't remember.
Thanks again to Rebel-Renegade-Fett for beta-ing.
Enjoy!
Meet the Family (& Friends)
After Hector had finished showing Zatanna a string of embarrassing photos of Cassandra, including ones of when she was a baby, Sally and Mary had come knocking at the door to invite Cassandra to an impromptu sleepover. The brunette girl had jumped at the opportunity and ran to her room to quickly pack a few things, then rushed her friends out the door before her brother could inflict further embarrassment. The teenagers were currently staying up late in Sally's room, sitting on cushions in their pajamas and talking quietly, as Sally's mother had already gone to sleep.
"Hey, Mary," Cassandra spoke up at one point. "Where are Kara and Courtney?"
"Unfortunately they couldn't come because they've both been grounded," Mary explained apologetically. 'Figuratively and literally,' she thought to herself.
"That's a shame," Sally commented, turning her attention toward Cassandra. "That said... you're really set on being a journalist, eh?"
"Yep," Cassandra replied, popping the 'p'. "That's the reason I'm taking Political Science."
"You know, Kara's cousin Clark is a journalist for the Daily Planet," Mary informed them. "If you go to Metropolis sometime, I'm pretty sure he'd be happy to show you around. You might even get to meet Lois Lane."
"That would be awesome!" Cassandra exclaimed. "She's like, my idol... right after my brother, that is."
"Speaking of your brother, how are things between him and Zatanna?" Sally asked.
"Things are going reeeeal good between them," she replied with a grin. "In fact, last week I walked in on them making out."
"That must be a little gross, seeing your brother like that," Mary commented.
"You think that's bad? Trust me, I've seen worse."
"Umm... what do you mean by that?"
"Well, this one time when I was eight... I walked in on my brother and his girlfriend doing 'you know what' in bed."
"... Eww!"
"Yeah, that was pretty much how I reacted at the time. But on the bright side, it's given me ammunition I can use to embarrass him over and over again."
"I suppose everything has a silver lining," Sally noted. "So, moving on..."
The next morning, Zatanna found herself waking up on the bed in Cassandra's room. Sitting upright and rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she remembered that after Cassandra had run off the night before, she and Hector had started watching a movie and partway through she'd fallen asleep. Getting up out of the bed, she made her way out of the bedroom and saw Hector preparing breakfast with his back to her. Feeling a little mischievous, she slowly crept up behind him, only to realize she'd failed when he said: "Your stealth still needs a little work, but I'll give you credit for trying." He then turned around to face her and added: "At least, I'm assuming you were trying to sneak up on me."
"Aww, it's no fun if you see it coming," Zatanna said while pouting.
Hector chuckled a little and gave her a peck on the lips. "You like french toast?"
"Your cooking's so good I'm sure I'd like anything you make." A few minutes later the table was set, courtesy of Zatanna (who'd insisted on doing it) and breakfast was ready and laid out, so they sat down and dug in. "This is really good, but that's no surprise."
"Thanks, Zee. So, you sleep well last night? Any more dreams about faceless men killing zombie warriors in underground temples?"
"Nothing of the sort, just some random dream about a talking crab and dolphin. You?"
"I dreamed I was trying to get rid of my medallion, but every time I threw it away it just kept popping up out of the ground at my feet."
"That reminds me of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, how Percy's pen always returns to his pocket if he loses it. It'd actually be pretty cool to have a pen like that, especially if it also turned into a sword."
"Yeah... that would be pretty cool."
The two of them ate in silence for a moment, until Zatanna spoke up again. "Hey, I just had this random idea: We should play truth or dare, except without the dare. Like, I ask you one question, then you ask me one, and back and forth."
"Sure, I'm up for it. Ladies first."
"Alright, what's the dumbest lie you've ever told?"
"... Can I change my mind about playing this game?"
"Come on, you said you were up for it, or are you too much of a chicken?" she taunted him, smiling at the look of embarrassment on his face.
"To answer your question: When she was 8, Cassandra... walked in on me and Alice, and I told her we were wrestling."
Zatanna let out an un-ladylike snort at this, before giggling at him. "Your poor, poor little sister, traumatized at such a young age."
"Anyway... I believe it's my turn. Have you ever had a crush on Superman?" Zatanna's cheeks reddened in response to the question. "I'll take that as a yes."
"Who's your favorite super-hero in the Justice League?"
"You mean besides you?" Hector replied with a cheeky grin.
"Flatterer."
"In all honesty, I'd say the Flash."
"Really?" Zatanna said, curious. "I was sure you'd pick Batman."
"Don't get me wrong, I think Batman is cool for taking on everything Gotham City spews out, super-villains and ordinary criminals alike, without the benefit of powers, but I respect the Flash for his ability to be light-hearted and smile despite everything that comes with being a super-hero."
"Huh... I guess you have a point there. I hadn't thought of him like that before."
"So, if you didn't have your magic, what other super-power would you want instead?"
"Good question. Let me think about it... I'd probably pick being able to shape-shift into any animal, because then I'd have a lot of options at my disposal, plus I could change into a bird and fly. And I can tell you from personal experience, flying is just awesome. My turn again. Where did you live before you were adopted?"
"The mean streets of Gotham, emphasis on 'mean'."
"Sounds harsh."
"Yeah, Gotham wasn't exactly a nice place even before Batman's rogue gallery. But I survived anyway. That said, what's your favorite food?"
"Chicken."
"I'll have to see about making some next time I have you over."
"That would be delicious. Have you ever read Playboy?"
"Nope."
"Seriously? I thought most guys looked into Playboy when they were teenagers, even afterwards too."
"I wasn't necessarily an average teenager back in the day. Now let's see... how old are you?"
Zatanna raised an eyebrow at this and said teasingly: "Don't you know how dangerous it can be to ask a woman her age?"
"I don't mind a little danger now and then." 'Especially considering some of the monsters I've tangled with,' he thought to himself.
"If you must know, I'm currently 23."
"Oh no, two whole years younger, I feel like such a cradle robber," Hector said with mock horror, prompting Zatanna to lightly smack him on the arm. "Sheesh, I'm kidding. Why don't we just give each other one last question before we finish up? After all, we wouldn't want to bare all our deep, dark secrets at once, would we now?"
"I suppose not. Hmm... What's one thing you've wanted to do, but never have?"
"Swan Lake. I love the music, and I've always wanted to see the ballet, but I never got the chance. Here's an easy one: What's your favorite color?"
"Blue, particularly royal blue."
"Cool, mine too," Hector noted as the two of them began cleaning up the table. "So... any plans for the day?"
"I have a show late this evening, but nothing until then. Why? Did you have something in mind?"
"I was just thinking I'd like you to meet some friends of mine, if you're okay with that."
"Sure, I don't see why not."
"Do you mind taking the bus? It's also a bit of a walk after that, but nothing serious."
"No, it's no problem at all."
"Great."
After a late morning, Cassandra, Sally and Mary had gotten the idea to take advantage of the beautiful day and go to a water park. Sally's mother had happily dropped them off and paid for their entrance, leaving them with a little extra money and telling them to enjoy themselves. "So... where should we go first?" Mary asked her friends.
"I wanna get on the Kamikaze!" Cassandra declared.
"That's because you're such a kamikaze yourself," Sally said. "I'd rather chill in the Lazy River."
"Yeah, because you're such a lazy bum," was the snappy comeback.
"Perhaps you could all comprise by trying the Wave Pool?" The three girls interrupted their debate and turned around to face the new voice. They saw the one who had spoken was a man with dark brown hair in a short, square cut beard and mustache, wearing a pair of shorts and a shirt that showed Sebastian the crab from the Little Mermaid with the words 'Under the Sea'. He was accompanied by a gorgeous dark haired woman wearing a white bathing suit with a dolphin towel wrapped around her waist.
"Percy, haven't seen you in a while now," Cassandra noted.
"Who's your friend?" Sally inquired.
"This is Percy Donald, and his wife Sala," she short brunette girl introduced them. "They were friends of my mother, and he taught my brother how to fish, swim, sail and a number of other things like that."
"Hector did take to my teachings rather well, I must say," Percy bragged. "Of course, he could hardly have asked for someone more specialized in all things aquatic."
"Such modesty is unbecoming of you, dear," Sala spoke up, rolling her eyes in amusement at her husband's behavior.
"What brings you here?" Cassandra asked.
"I thought it might be nice to get off the throne and mingle among people," he answered, a twinkle of mischief about him, as if he knew a secret that they did not. "In any case, I think we'll leave you girls to have fun. Give your brother my regards, will you?"
"Sure, no problem."
"It was nice to meet you both," Mary said politely.
"Ditto," Sally agreed.
"Oh, and Cassandra...? I'm certain your mother would be proud of how special and talented you are," Percy added over his shoulder as he and Sala walked away.
Cassandra then turned toward her friends and asked: "Well ladies, are we ready to have fun?"
Over at Hector and Zatanna's end, after each had showered and changed clothes, they'd taken the bus and walked to Adolf and Frieda's, where the German couple and their three boys greeted them happily, glad to finally meet the woman who'd caught their friend's interest. Following a round of introductions, the boys had eagerly given Zatanna a comprehensive tour, telling her about the farm, the animals, the garden and so on. In the meantime Frieda and Adolf had prepared a lunch for everyone to eat outdoors, and Zatanna, with a warning from Hector that Frieda wasn't likely going to take no for an answer, accepted their invitation to have lunch with them, so they were all sitting down at a picnic table eating shish kabob.
"The food is really good," Zatanna complimented in between mouthfuls.
"You're quite welcome dear," Frieda replied. "It's my pleasure."
"I learned how to cook from her," Hector informed her, cleaning off another skewer.
"Yeah, I can believe that."
"That boy gives me too much credit. This is one of those times where the student has surpassed the teacher."
"Either way, you've helped form one world class chef," Zatanna said.
"You know, they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach," Erich, Adolf's eldest son spoke up. "But maybe the same can be said for women too."
"It's not just the cooking that I like about him, although that is a big plus. Still, I wouldn't cry if he lost his penchant for sneaking up on me."
"I only did that once, at least so far. And besides, you were trying to sneak up on me just this morning."
"Yeah, fat chance sneaking on up this guy," Albrecht, the middle child said. "I swear he must be some kind of ninja. I mean, no matter how hard you work for it, he's unbeatable at hide and seek."
"Speaking of work..." Adolf butt into the conversation. "Hector, I just wanted to remind you that you're not allowed to come in next Saturday unless it's an emergency."
"Why would that be?" Zatanna asked, curious.
"Because next Saturday is his birthday, and if we didn't forbid him, he'd just work straight through it instead of celebrating like a normal person should," Frieda explained.
"What? Your birthday's coming so soon and you didn't bother telling me?"
"It's not all that important, plus I didn't really want to make a big deal out of it," Hector protested.
"Perhaps it didn't occur to you that as your girlfriend, maybe I would like to make a deal out of it? Are you really going to deny me that?"
"Not if you want to that much."
"Ha, ha, ha," the youngest boy, Siegfried laughed at this. "She's got you good, doesn't she?"
"So young and inexperienced... give it a few more years and you'll eventually understand," Hector said in amusement.
"Did he show you his scars from when he was mauled by a wolf?" Albrecht inquired of Zatanna.
"You were attacked by a wolf?" she said, clearly surprised.
"Yes, I was ten years old when it happened. It was unpleasant, of course, but I came out of it with nothing more than a few scars on my back."
Flashback
A young Hector Anderson was currently in a forest somewhere, engaged in a grueling training session with Mars. The boy raised the wooden sword he held to block his teacher's own, arms shaking under the strength of the blow, but was caught square in the stomach by a kick that sent him flying back, causing him to drop his practice sword in the process. He dropped into a roll as he hit the ground and stayed still as Mars advanced on him, trying to catch his breath in the process. When the blond man came close he flung a handful of dirt in his eyes, diving past him to where his sword was lying, grabbing it and coming up in a ready stance.
"Not bad, kid," Mars commented as they stood facing each other. "Rolling over to lessen the impact when you hit the ground, waiting patiently for your opponent to make the move, using the environment to your advantage and getting your weapon right back after losing it... Still need a lot of work, but you're catching on fast, especially for one so young. Take a short break."
"Thank you sir," Hector said gratefully, catching the water bottle tossed in his direction and taking large gulps.
"I see your first crack at the forge turned out alright," Mars noted, pointing at the silver bracelets Hector wore on each wrist, both with a wolf charm attached. "Personally I think you should've picked something less girly than a pair of bracelets."
"It was Diana's idea to make them like this, and I like it too."
"Whatever you say." A minute passed in silence before Mars decided that Hector had rested enough. "Okay, break's over. You can drop the stick, because now it's time for your first test. You ready for it?"
"Yes sir, I'm ready."
"Good, because even if you weren't ready it'd be happening anyway," Mars said as something was heard approaching their location.
Hector tapped his bracelets together, then grabbed the wolf charms and yanked them off. A few seconds later he was holding a pair of silver hunting knives in his hands. "What's the test going to be?"
"Since this is going to be your first real taste of combat I figured I'd take it easy on you, so I found a little puppy for you to play with." At this, a black wolf of unnatural size burst onto the scene, towering over the ten year old boy who forced himself into the mindset required for the fight to avoid thinking about how dangerous the beast looked. "Have fun and try not to get yourself killed."
The monster bared its teeth and growled as the two fighters circled each other warily, until it suddenly decided to take a leap at the young boy, who dove out of the way of its snapping jaws. Moving fast he managed a quick cut along its side, backing off before it had a chance to effectively retaliate. The fight went along in this manner for several minutes, Hector taking advantage of his small size (and therefore the smaller target he presented) to avoid getting hit, all while he kept darting in and out, leaving the wolf with a growing collection of cuts. Unfortunately for him, the wolf still proved fast enough to knock him down during a moment of unstable footing and rake its paw across his back as he scrambled to get to his feet.
"Argh!" he cried out in pain, feeling the wolf's claws tear through skin and dig into his back.
"Remember, I'm watching you," Mars spoke up, leaning against a tree as he observed the two combatants, his student managing to put a short distance between himself and the wolf. "And I won't be very impressed if you die on me just like that."
Hector ignored his teacher's words, fighting through the pain and devoting his attention solely to the fight. Time seemed to slow down as the wolf leapt again, sailing through the air toward him in a single bound. Muscles tense, he waited until the last split second before, instead of dodging to the side, he dove straight forward, rolling underneath the wolf and between its legs. Moving as fast as possible, he swung his knives at the wolf's hind legs to hamstring it, dropping the beast to the ground, followed up with two stabs in the back, then delivered the finishing blow by driving his knives into its neck.
"Nice fight," Mars said, clapping his hands at the young boy's success. "Nice kill too."
"Thank you, sir."
"Do you remember the price you need to pay?"
"Once a year I must battle a monster of your choosing," he recited, cringing a little as the adrenaline from the fight began to wear off. "I don't know when it will come, and I don't know what it will be, so I need to be ready at all times and to expect anything. And in return, you agree to keep teaching me how to fight so I can better protect Cassandra if ever the need comes."
"Good. Now go see your mother and get yourself patched up, unless you want to keep bleeding out like that." Giving his teacher a nod, Hector changed back his knives into their previous form and started walking back home. "Hey, one last thing..." Mars spoke up, prompting him to stop in his tracks and look back. "Stay sharp, kid."
Flashback end
Later in the afternoon, after their lunch with Frieda, Adolf and the boys, Hector and Zatanna had returned to the city where they were simply taking a walk down the street. "So... what did you think of them?" Hector inquired.
"They're nice people," Zatanna replied sincerely. "It was fun meeting them."
"Glad to hear that." The two of them continued walking until they passed in front of a small shop named 'Rush-an Bike Rentals'. "Have you ever been rollerblading before?"
"Yeah, but that was years and years ago, so I doubt I can remember much."
"Would you care to re-learn? This place here rents rollerblades and equipment, and I can teach you if you're interested."
"Well..." Zatanna said with a bit of hesitation, then decided to trust him with this. "Why not? What's the worst that could happen?"
The two of them went into the shop, where a man wearing a striped white, blue and red shirt smiled and waved at Hector from behind the counter. "Privet moy drug. Kak u vas segodnya dela?" (Hello my friend. How are you today?)
"Ya v poryadke, spasibo chto sprosili. Vy bogaty yeshche? (I'm fine, thanks for asking. Are you rich yet?) Hector replied flawlessly.
"Net, vse yeshche rabotayem nad etim." (No, still working on it.) The man then took notice of Zatanna, who was lost as to what they were saying. "Ona nastoyashchaya krasota. Ona tvoya devushka?" (She's a real beauty. Is she your girlfriend?)
"Da." (Yes.)
"You mind filling me in here?" Zatanna asked, looking at Hector. "Because it kind of sounds like you guys are talking about me."
"He said you're a real looker and asked if you're my girlfriend. Obviously I said yes."
"Vladimir Volkov, one third of 'Rush-un Bike Rentals' at your service," the man introduced himself. "My brothers Nikolai and Maksim would be the other two thirds."
"Zatanna Zatara. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
"So what can I do for you guys?"
"We'd like to rent rollerblades for a couple hours," Zatanna explained. "I haven't done any in a while, so he'll be helping me learn it over again."
"No problem at all, we can get you exactly what you need. And don't you worry about a thing, this guy knows what he's doing and I'm certain he won't let you fall."
Somewhere far, far to the east, in a city more than a few time zones ahead, a girl of 19 was walking home at night after an evening out with her friends. The young lady was blissfully unaware of the nearby danger, in the form of a cloaked individual who was following her. Although she did look behind her twice, the mysterious figure hid in the shadows, and so she merely chalked it up to her mind playing tricks on her and continued on her way.
Unfortunately for her, when she turned into an alleyway to take a shortcut home, the cloaked person swooped down on her like an evil spirit, holding her in a firm grip and putting a hand over her mouth to prevent her from calling for help. The girl struggled against her captor, but this proved futile. The assailant reached into their cloak, grabbed a palm sized glass ball and threw it to the ground. A cloud of dark purple smoke burst from the ball as it smashed to pieces, surrounding the abductor and victim, and when it dissipated... they were gone.
"You know, I think I can feel the blood circulation being cut off in my arm from you holding on so tight," Hector remarked with an amused smile as they were moving along on their rollerblades. For his part, he was simply wearing a helmet and skating confidently, whereas Zatanna wore elbow/knee pads, wrist guards and was skating with a little less confidence than her partner.
"Sorry, I can't help but be a little nervous about this."
"Nothing wrong with being nervous," he reassured her. "Just take deep breaths, relax, and follow my lead." Zatanna then breathed in deep a few times, slightly loosened her grip and allowed him to guide her. "Good, just take it nice and easy."
"So how do you know the guys who run that place?"
"I met Vladimir a few years back when he suffered from a hit and run while on his bike. I patched him up and looked after him until the paramedics arrived. I also repair equipment for them on occasion when they're in a bind."
"Did they also teach you how to rollerblade?"
"No, actually, I learned from experience."
"You certainly have the hang of it."
"You're coming along nicely yourself."
"You know, it makes me wonder how you can be so graceful in this, yet be such a total klutz and step on my feet so many times when dancing."
Hector gave her a deadpan look at this. "Gee, thanks for reminding me of that fiasco."
Zatanna merely gave him a teasing smile in response. An idea suddenly popped into Hector's head, which consisted of him to letting go of Zatanna and skating ahead of her. "Hey! What's the big idea?" she protested, suddenly feeling a little less confident.
"Call it trial by fire," he replied tauntingly. "If you want to hold onto me, you've gotta catch me first."
Zatanna moved toward Hector, only for him to skate backwards the same distance, all while smiling at her. Again she tried closing in on him, and again he moved out of reach. This went on until Zatanna was skating in earnest, at which point she caught up to Hector and threw herself at him. "Got you!" she declared proudly.
"Not so scared of falling now, are you?"
"Huh... I guess I was so focused on catching you I didn't even think about it."
"Come on, let's take a break," he offered, leading her to a nearby bench. The two of them removed their helmets and enjoyed a spot of privacy as they sat down, relaxing in the shade of a nearby tree with a small breeze gusting through. "I see that someone's in no hurry to let go," Hector remarked with a charming smile, as Zatanna was still holding onto him.
"I don't hear you complaining," she shot back, smiling coyly.
"Now why on earth would I complain about having such a beautiful woman so close to me?"
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were flirting with me."
"Is it really flirting if I'm just telling the truth?"
"Now I know you're flirting with me."
"Do you want me to stop?" Hector whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine at the feeling of his breath on her skin.
"I never said that," she replied, fingers ever so lightly running over his well toned stomach.
"Of course, you seem to be enjoying yourself far too much."
"I could say the same about you."
"Would you say it a little closer? I wouldn't want to miss any of it."
"Is this close enough for you?" Zatanna asked, leaning into him until their noses were touching. "Or maybe you'd like me to come in even closer." She then tilted her head to the side and placed her lips on his, which quickly turned into a heated make-out session. The happy couple kissed eagerly for several seconds, but was regrettably interrupted by the sound of Zatanna's phone ringing. Grabbing her phone, she rejected the call without looking to see who it was before they resumed their amorous activities. Her phone soon began to ring again, prompting her to dismiss the call a second time and continue kissing her boyfriend. However, at the third interruption she looked at the offending device and saw that the caller was Madame Xanadu. "It's my mother. I should probably take this or she'll just keep calling until I pick up."
"Go ahead then," Hector said.
"Your timing really sucks, Nimue," Zatanna grumbled as she answered the call. "What?"
"My, my, someone's in a bad mood. Did I interrupt you and your boyfriend?" One could almost see the smirk on Nimue's face at the suggestive comment.
"None of your business."
"I'll take that as a yes. Speaking of... you've been dating for quite a while now. When do I get to meet the man?"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Come now, you've been seeing him three months already? I think I'm entitled to meet him sometime, sooner rather than later."
"Give me a minute." Covering the mouthpiece, she turned to Hector and quickly explained the situation. "If you're okay with it, I can transport us over when we're finished here, then bring us back when we're done. Would you mind?"
"Why not? What's the worst that could happen?"
"Thank you. Okay Nimue, we'll be there in an hour."
"Excellent, I'll be waiting. Bye now."
"This isn't exactly what I had in mind a moment ago," Zatanna complained as she hung up.
"Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be another chance for that kind of... activity."
"I suppose you're right. Shall we get going then?"
At her home in Greenwich Village, Madame Xanadu was preparing some tea for her upcoming visitors. Just as she dropped the tea bag into the pot there was a knock at the door. "Just a minute." Answering the door revealed that the company she was expecting had arrived. "Well don't just stand there, come on in." Hector and Zatanna stepped inside and took a seat at the table, while Nimue poured them both a cup of tea and offered them a plate of small cakes. "It's nice to finally meet you, even if we technically have met once before."
"True, although the circumstances were a little different last time."
"Indeed. So, how do you know each other?" Zatanna and Hector proceeded to tell her about meeting backstage after the show, Cassandra's scheme in setting them up, the company BBQ, the 'almost' fight at the bar, and a few other details. "Sounds like an interesting story," Nimue commented with a small smile. "Zatanna, honey, don't let go of this guy, he sounds too good to be true."
"That shouldn't be a problem, because I don't plan on letting go anytime soon," Zatanna replied. "Although I might not hold him so close if we ever try dancing again."
"... You know, barring the fact that I tried warning you ahead of time, I did apologize for my clumsiness."
"What can I say? I guess you and Cassandra rubbed off on me."
"Yes, that must be it," Nimue said sarcastically. "It's not like you'd think to tease anyone for the sake of personal amusement on your own." Zatanna kicked her under the table at this.
"Nimue... may I call you Nimue?" Hector asked.
"Certainly."
"Thanks. I was just thinking... you've helped raise Zatanna since she was young, yes?"
"Indeed, and I could tell you more than a few stories about her if you're interested."
"Oh, look at the time, we really should get going now," Zatanna jumped in.
Nimue smirked at this. "Surely you're not in that much of a hurry."
"No hurry at all," Hector said. "Her show only starts late this evening, so we have plenty of time for stories."
"Excellent. So, this one time..."
Deep in the mysterious underground temple, the evil magician awaited his minion's return. His wait came to an end when two of his not quite human servants opened the doors to his chambers, allowing the cloaked figure to step inside and lay the kidnapped girl down at his feet. The minion then pulled back its hood, revealing itself as another 'not quite human', and kneeled down before its master. "Were you seen?" the magician asked.
"No, my master," the creature replied, head held low.
"Good. Leave me, and take the girl to the cells."
"Yes master."
The minions all departed to follow his bidding, taking the unconscious girl with them. "One down, eleven more to go," he mused to himself. "And then... the child of magic herself."
There you have it. Reviews, as always, are appreciated, whether to say it was nice, or to say it could use improvement (in the case of the latter, suggestions for said improvements would also be appreciated).
A few things to say:
- The idea of Kara and Courtney being grounded 'figuratively and literally' was inspired by "DC Nation - Super Best Friends Forever - Grounded".
- The Kamikaze, Lazy River and Wave Pool are all names for attractions at an actual water park not so far from where I live (the Kamikaze is one seriously sharp slide).
- While working on this chapter I decided I wanted it to have a full fight scene but couldn't figure out where it would fit, so I just decided to have another flashback.
- And last but not least... who can tell me the identity of "Percy" and "Sala"?
