Scourges POV
I rolled out of my bed and look at my clock. It was 4:00 in the morning, I can't get any fucking sleep. The lights were dim and no noise could be herd. I grabbed my USP.45 and started for the door. "Scourge, babe, what are you doing". I turned and saw Fiona looking at me with a tired stare. "Can't sleep gonna go walk around" I said. "It seems like ever since we came to this planet you've been on edge what's the matter" she asked. I walked over and kissed her forehead, "I've seen what these things can do and I don't want anything to happen to you". She smiled and gave me a kiss. After a minute I broke apart and brushed her bangs out of her eyes. "Get some more sleep I think we are heading down there today" I said. "Ok bye babe" she whispered. "Bye" I said walking out of the room.
I walked into the shooting range. I grabbed a CM109 out of a locker and loaded it up. I walked over to one of the booths. The target popped up, I took a breath and aimed at it. I slightly pulled the trigger and shot at it. The gun moved a lot in my hands but I kept the spray within the target. Looking at the target I saw most of the bullets were on the edge. There was a pain in my right shoulder, ever since Exodus I have had a pain from the Mauler who knocked me into the wall. I grabbed a fore grip and attached it to the gun. I took aim again and pulled the trigger. The gun moved less and most of my shots landed in the center of the target. I was satisfied with the results and I put the CM109 down. I pulled out my USP.45 and took aim. I fired eight shots hitting the target in different places. Damn it I want to get them in one spot I thought. If I was going to get out of this I have to think of the target as a Mauler. The sound of those Maulers screeching and ripping apart people filled my ears. I, now full of anger, took aim and emptied my clip into the target. All shots hit in the head. I put my gun down, sweat dripping down my forehead and my heart beating a million mile per hour. I herd something move behind me. I grabbed my pistol and did a 180 to come face to face with Tails. He froze like a deer in the headlights. "Fuck Tails don't sneak up on me like that I just about blew your head off" I sighed. He grabbed his chest "ok mental note, anyways I need you, Fiona, and Shade to get ready you guys are heading planet side". I nodded and holstered my USP.45 "so is anyone coming back up". "Yeah Ace is coming up hopefully with my jet" Tails said optimistically. I nodded and grabbed my new CM109, I slung it over my shoulder. All of a sudden there was a loud blast coming from the hanger. Me and Tails looked at each other knowing what we had to do. We raced for the door and sprinted down the hall.
It was a quick run from the shooting range to the hanger. I burst through the doors and saw a wreckage of a jet and Ace slumped up against a wall. "Ace" I ran over and checked up on him. He had sweat on his forehead and he was panting. I put a finger on his wrist and felt his vein pulse. He was breathing started to calm down and he seemed ok. "My jet", I turned to see Tails about to fall on his knees, "my beautiful jet". Ace shifted and slowly stood up. "You know...I'm still fine too" Ace huffed. "You destroyed my jet did you know how long it took to make that" Tails said. "It's not that bad...I can fix this up...in a jiff" Ace said. "You better fix it up or I'll smack you up side the head" Tails warned. "It was hard to get this jet up here Tails...you sure you couldn't make a teleporter...or something" Ace panted. "You're the one who wrecked it in the first place, so your going to get it up here" Tails said. "Yeah yeah I know" Ace said weakly. "Um if I could interrupt", I nearly jumped out of my quills. I turned around and saw Nicole standing behind me. "Ace you called me down here" she said. "Yeah I need your help with repairing the jet" Ace groaned. "Ok where do I start" she asked. "Go and look over the damages and bring me a report" Ace said. Nicole nodded and walked over to the jet. Tails shook his head "it better be good". "It will just get the others ready for take off I'll tell you when I'm done" Ace said. Tails nodded and lead me over to one of the drop ships. "Scourge when you get down there can you give this to Sonic", Tails handed me a file. "Ok Tails I'll get it to him" I ensured. He nodded "I got to get back up to the bridge, you go get Shade and Fiona then fly down to the surface". I gave him a thumbs up and I took off down the hall.
I opened up the door to my cabin and flicked on the lights. Fiona covered her eyes and rolled over. "Hey up and adam time to go" I said. She rolled back over "but it's so early" she groaned. "I don't make the decision no get your ass out of bed" I said grabbing my knifes. She got out of bed and walked over to me. "Ok sire lets get ready" she said. I smiled "yeah you should get ready". She playfully hit me and started to get her stuff. Her ass was sticking up and I gave it a quick smack. She yelped in surprise and turned around. "Oh your such a naughty boy" she said wrapping her arms around my neck. "Are you going to punish me" I teased. She teased a finger up and down my chest. "When all this is over I'll give you your punishment" she whispered in my ear. I shivered and kissed her, she moaned in my mouth as we began to make out. I felt her finger trace over my scars and I flinched for a second. She broke free from my lips "still tender there" she asked. "No it's just your fur is tickling me" I admitted. She smiled "oh is it now". "Oh crap" I said, Fiona pounced on me and began to tickle me. I started to laugh "stop stop it" I laughed. She only continued to rub her fur on me. She moved her tail over my chest, Damn it it's so fluffy I thought. "Fihahahaha Fiona stop hahahahahahaha stop it I'mhehehehe I'm going tohahahaha piss my self" I gasped. She gave me a sly smile "what are the magic words" she asked. "Damn it hahaha I'm not going to hehehe say it" I panted. "Fine then I'm not going to stop" she said. I was on the edge of pissing and I was out of options. "Ffhahaha fine mmhehe mistress please hahaha stop" I laughed. She smiled and pulled her tail away. "Good boy" she said petting my head. I was completely out of breath and I was gasping for air. My chest hurt and tears were in my eyes. She walked over to her things and put her suit on. It was black light armor, she finished with her yellow bow in her hair. "Oh my god", I panted, "that sucked". Fiona giggled "well you started it". I got up and walked over to her "I'm going to get you back for this" I playfully growled. She kissed me "give it your best shot". I smiled and picked her up, she was surprised by this. I gave her a wink and took off towards the hanger.
When we arrived Shade was already standing by the drop ship. She was watching Ace and Nicole fix up Tails jet. I walked up "What you doin" I asked, she didn't even take a glance at me. "Hello" I said, she still didn't acknowledge me, "Mobian to Shade can you hear me" I said louder waving my hand in front of her face. Shade blinked and turned, she looked at me concern on her face. "Oh sorry didn't see you there" Shade said. "Yeah so what were you doing" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Scourge I think we have a problem" she said. "Whys that" I asked a bit of concern in my voice. "It's about Ace he's acting...different" she said. "What do you mean" Fiona asked. "Well every once in a while he seems to have a headache and grabs his head, and once I saw his eyes change color" she explained. "So the guy has a few headaches it's normal, and the lighting here can play tricks on your vision" I explained. "No he looked me dead in the eyes and they switched colors and they had a fire burning in them, I got a really creep vibe from him" she argued. I looked over at Ace and he looked up. He gave me a smile and I saw his eyes shift colors. His pupils changed from ice blue to a evil purple. The whites of his eyes went black and I saw the fire burning in his eyes. A darkness was radiating off him as all he did was wink at me. It was like he was taunting me. Then instantly his eyes shifted back to normal. He ducked his head down and grabbed his head. Ace looked up, he seemed exhausted and he look like he was losing a battle. Throughout the few months I've gotten to know him there is one thing that I know him for, Fighting. He fought Sonic, Dusty, hell even Fiona a few times. And I have never seen him once back down from a fight, but this was different. Like he didn't want to fight the battle but he had to. He mouthed don't tell anyone, I nodded and entered the drop ship. I took the pilots seat and started up the engine. The ship rumbled and started to hover. I pulled up the landing gear so that we could get to the surface of the planet. I floored the throttle and shot out of the hanger, the thought of Ace's episode on my mind.
The ship clunked against the frozen ground as I cut the power. I got up out of the seat and walked towards the rear door. Shade and Fiona were grabbing their things. I looked out at the snow covered city and saw people scurrying around trying to get ready. I jumped the edge and started off for the command room. Out of nowhere Espio materialized right in front of me. "Hey Espio what's up" I greeted. Nothing good, Scourge you, me and Fiona are going with five others to blow up some hives, Shade you are wanted at the command room Sonics got something for you to do" he explained. I pulled out the file from my pack "and when you see Sonic can you give this to him". "Ok see you guys" she grabbed the file and took off. Espio lead us over to a brown hawk who was looking around. "Hey Mac this is Scourge he's going to be the leader of Omega team" Espio said. "Wait what" I asked confused, "Scourge I'm Mac" the brown hawk greeted hand extended. "Nice to meet you Mac" I said shaking his hand. "Hey I'll go show you the rest of the team", he looked over at a group, "over there is Blake weapons specialists" he said pointing to a golden lemur. "Next to him is Daniela our mechanic" he explained pointing out a red panda. "Then there is Spencer our explosives guy" Mac said pointing to a blue prairie dog. "Finally there's Ramirez the scout", next to Spencer was a black jaguar. I nodded memorizing all five names, I walked over to them. "Hey guys I'm Scourge I'm going to be your new CO". "Great just what we needed" Blake mumbled. "Blake shut up, hi I'm Daniela" the red panda greeted. "Hey, I know your names so you don't need to introduce yourselves" I said. "You are the new CO I hope you are as good as the last one" Spencer said. "Well I aim to please", Spencer nodded and Blake gave me a glare, "I can't fucking believe this". "What's your problem" I asked, "my problem is that your filling shoes I don't want filled" he spat poking my chest. I felt a tinge of anger set in as I looked the lemur dead in the eyes. He backed off and walked towards a black hawk helicopter. "Damn it Blake" Ramirez started off after him. Daniela patted my back "don't mind him he went through a ... bad break up" she said. I nodded and grabbed Fiona's hand. She squeezed it softly acknowledging it. This is going to be a hard few weeks. "Ok you guys packed up" I asked . They nodded, "so I'm guessing that the chopper is our ride" I said. They nodded and I started for the chopper, the others grabbed there stuff and walked behind me. I got on and counted heads as we climbed into the helicopter. I sat down next to Fiona as we took off. "So you are some sort of special forces" Blake said. I nodded, "have you had an experience with these things" Ramirez asked. "Yeah plenty" I said. They all looked uncomfortable with all this. "Listen guys I'm going to make sure all of you get back ok that's a promise" I said. "Yeah sure, how do we not know that you'll just stab us in the back" Blake said. "Just trust him ok, Scourge is a great guy" Fiona said. Everyone but Blake nodded, "so how long have you guys been together" I asked. "About three years, we went into training together and we became a unit, one of our...friends became our old CO and lead us on most of our missions, until we were falling back and the CO stayed behind so that we could move on" Mac explained. I nodded knowing just how they felt,"Well I'm glad to be leading you guys, and I hope we can get along together" I said. "Yeah I bet" Blake murmured, I looked out of the chopper and saw we were close to the city. "Ok let's keep it quiet I don't want any of those things to know we are here" I ordered. The others nodded and started to load up their guns, I myself grabbed a clip and pushed it into my CM109. The chopper began to lower towards the ground. Before it hit the ground it stopped and hovered about a foot off the ground. I walked to the edge and jumped onto the ground. I slipped on my red sunglasses, I had Tails work on them and now they are better. They have night and thermal vision, they mark out targets and objectives basically like Call of Duty. I switched on night vision mode and looked around. There was no movement for a few thousand meters. "Ok there are hives in these three buildings lets burn em to the ground" I said. Omega team nodded and we started down the road. I was up front with Fiona at my side. "This place is dead quiet" she said. "Yeah that's the part that concerns me" I said softy. We were about a few thousand meters away from the first building. "Fiona stay close to me I want to have your back" I said. "Thanks babe" she said kissing my cheek. I continued forward keeping my eye on the other side of the street. We ran into corpses about three hundred meters in, they were just sitting there slowly rotting away in the cold. I shivered thinking that Vector and Knuckles were probably no better right now. There was a loud banging sound and I froze in place. I switched my glasses to thermal vision and scanned the area. There was a cold spot on my radar in an ally's at twenty meters up. "One contact possibly two alley in front of us" I whispered. "Ok move up I got your back" Espio said. I nodded and moved forward. The others followed me as Espio went into the alley. "Keep your eyes high they like to jump down on you" I said softly. "Jeez" Spencer huffed. We were about fifty meters away from our target. I was looking in every direction making sure there were no Maulers in sight. When we got to the door I stopped and crouched down. "Watch the shadows and keep an eyes on your motion tracker" I said. "Ok let's move" Ramirez whispered. I nodded and pushed the door open. We quickly moved inside out of the street. I shut the door and we moved into the room. It was a lobby of some sorts, "damn this place really went to shit" I whispered. "Yeah not a lot of us got out when the first wave arrived, the came in force and pretty much killed most of us" Spencer said softly. "Cut the chatter the hives right up ahead" Blake snapped. I scowled, I don't like it when people talk back to me. "Watch your mouth Blake" I warned him. He just rolled his eyes and walked towards the back. I growled and followed him, we enter the employee lounge and saw a huge mass of black gunk. There were pods every where that held baby Maulers. "Ok Spencer set those charges in the clusters and lets get out of here" I ordered. "I'm on it" he said running over, "the rest of you stay sharp these things have to be guarding it" I said. They nodded and took up positions around the room. Spencer quickly moved between clusters wiring the C4 and priming the charge. Only three minutes went by before he finished. "Ok we're green time to move" Spencer informed. "The next hive is three hundred meters ahead and the other one is five hundred meters, split up and we can get this done faster" I said. "Really your going to split us up so we can be taken out" Blake questioned. "Spencer, Fiona, and Daniela your going to the bank five hundred meters up, Blake, Ramirez, and I will get the one three hundred meters up" I planned. "Assuming we can get past defenses and get the C4 planted how do we get out of here" Blake said. "There should be a chopper landing at parking garage about four hundred meters south of here" I informed. "Ok let's get moving guys times ticking" Daniela said. I nodded and gestured to the other two, they followed me as I walked out into the lobby. I peaked out of the window and saw a Mauler standing about twelve meters away from us. I put my finger up to my mouth to signal to be quite and they others nodded. I slowly pushed the door open and crept outside. I crouch ran to the nearest car, taking cover behind it. I looked at the Mauler and saw that it was still unaware of our presence. I waved at the guys and moved forward. I moved stealthy as I weaves in between empty cars. When I past a dark blue sedan I looked back to check if the others were still behind me. Ramirez was in front of Blake and they were a few cars back. I looked past them and saw that the Mauler was gone. I felt a pit in my stomach knowing that they were playing with us. "Scourge what's the hold up" Blake whispered. "I...I don't have a good feeling about this" I said softly. "Just...keep moving" Blake said. I gave him a quick glare and continued towards the building. When I got closer I could make out that the building was a school. "Blake watch our backs as we get in" I said. He only grunted in response as we reached the front steps. I pushed the door open and stepped inside, there was no light in the building and the sound of water dripping echoed of the empty halls. I switched my glasses to night vision and bravely stepped into the darkness. Ramirez slipped on his goggles and followed me. Lastly there was Blake bringing up the rear watching out the front doors. I slowly creeped down the hall checking all the rooms for the hive. "Hey man I'm sorry about Blake he's not normally like this" Ramirez apologized. "No I understand, was she close to him" I said. "They were pretty much glued together you could never separate them" Ramirez laughed quietly. "She was lucky to have him" I said. "Yeah when she order us to get to the city Blake begged her to come with us, she just told him that was where she had to make a stand and that he had to make his stand with out her" Ramirez said. "Wow that must weigh a lot on his shoulders" I said. Ramirez only nodded as we reached the end of the hall. There were a set of double doors that had the label Cafeteria by it. I opened it up and was met with a nasty odor. The room was filled with black gunk and pods, and in the gunk was bodies. Young bodies of kids and teachers. They were hanging everywhere as the slowly rotted away. "Ugh lets just rig the C4 and go" I said holding back my vomit. Ramirez nodded and moved towards the clusters. He slipped the C4 out of his pack and started to place it. He connected the wires slowly making sure the would go off. I watched through the door making sure no Maulers sneaked in. There were footsteps coming from the hall. I shifted slightly to see two Maulers crawling along the lockers. I backed up against the wall making sure they didn't see me. "Can't you work faster" I whispered. "I'm sorry this is not my specialty, Spencer is a wizard with rigging explosions, he has a good memory" Ramirez said. "How good" I asked watching out the door again. "I think he said he had eidetic memory so yeah yes good" Ramirez explained finishing up the rigging. "Ok Blake we're almost done but watch yourself there are Maulers in the building" I said. "Got it, get your asses back here" he said. "Ok", I looked back and saw Ramirez standing up. "Alright we're good" he said slinging his pack over his shoulder. I nodded and we started down the hall. It was quiet throughout the halls and I didn't like that. "I do not like this one bit" I whispered looking around. "Yeah way to quiet" Ramirez agreed. Before I could take another step there was a loud bang of a locker being shut. I immediately push my back against Ramirez and we scanned around the hall. There were footsteps and they were coming fast. "DUCK!" I yelled. We hit the floor and a Mauler flew over our heads. It tried to slash at us but I rolled out of the way. I stood up and faced it, it was about to screech an alarm but I pulled out my pistol and hit it in the forehead. It crumpled to the ground in a heap. "Ahhhhhhh", I flipped around and saw Ramirez on the ground. Mauler claws were in his knees, "RAMIREZ" I yelled. "Ahh just go get out of here I'll hold them off ahhhh" he screamed. I grabbed his arms and yanked on him. He cried in pain as the Mauler ripped him from my grasp. It lifted him up and shot its tongue into his head. Ramirez stopped struggling and hung there limp. Another Mauler ran up and hissed at its brother. They grabbed Ramirez's body and began to rip him up. I slowly backed away watching the two make Ramirez into bit size pieces. When I saw the main hall I took off and didn't look back. Run run run, that was the only thing my mind kept screaming at me. "Hey where's Ramirez" Blake asked as I ran up. "Go just go" I yelled, he just nodded and we ran out of the school. "Scourge where the hell is Ramirez" Blake said. "He's gone" I said, "WHAT", Blake stopped in his tracks. "We have to go back" he insisted. "He's gone Blake we can't go back" I said defeated. "No he's still in there we can". "BLAKE LISTEN TO ME THE KILLED HIM THEY RIPPED HIM INTO PIECES AND FED HIM TO THE BABYS" I screamed at him. Blake just stood there looking back at the school. "You killed him" he whispered. "What" I said, "YOU FUCKING KILLED HIM" Blake screamed launching himself at me. He grabbed my vest and lifted me up. "Blake it wasn't like that", "then what was it like" he growled at me. "I tried ok, I fucking tried and they ripped him from my hands" I said. Blake just stood there taking in what I said. "Listen Blake we need to get back to the LZ or a lot more people are going to die, we'll morn our loses later right now we need to go" I said. He dropped me and just looked back at the school. I started to run but I looked back and saw Blake just standing there. "Blake get your ass in gear and let's GO" I ordered. He nodded and ran after me, before we got far I made sure he was ok. "I'm fine just...I'm fine" he insured. I nodded and flipped on my radio. "Guys get to the LZ we have just kicked the hornets nest" I said. "This is Omega 1-2 we are already at the LZ, there is increasing Mauler activity and we are waiting" Daniela said. "Ok we are inbound coming in from the west" I informed. I turned to Blake "let's get a move on". He nodded and we started off for the parking garage.
When we reached the bottom of the parking garage there was Maulers up our asses. I pointed my CM109 and let the bullets fly. The first few Maulers fell down bleeding from various places. "Scourge", I turned and saw Blake in the stair well. "Cover me" I yelled, he nodded and fired his MP5 into the crowd of Maulers. I ran over hearing the screeches of dying Maulers. I leaped over the railing and turned to Blake. "Blake get to the top and I'll cover you GO" I ordered. He fired the last of his clip into the hoard and ran up the stairs. I quickly followed, every few steps I would turn around and fire. One Mauler fell green blood pouring out of his chest, another had two bullets in his head. When I got to the third floor and tripped, ah shit. I rolled over and a Mauler jumped on top of me. We struggled as it tried to slash and bite me. My CM109 was just out of my reach and it was crushing my right hand so I couldn't get my USP.45. I struggled under its weight, trying to get some sort of upper hand. I felt one Mauler grab my leg, I kicked and flailed hoping it would get off. There was shot fired and the Mauler on top of me slumped forward. I pushed it off and looked up, I saw Blake aiming at me. "You going to get off your ass" he asked. I smiled and got up, there was a scratching noise and I took that as my que to go. I grabbed my riffle and flew up the stairs. When we got on the top floor the others were holding the very middle of the parking ramp. Blake and I jumped on top of cars and shot at everything in our path. One by one Maulers fell blood tricking out of there mouths. I jumped and squashed a Maulers head against the cement. It's blood went all over and on my cloths. I ignored it and jumped into the circle of cars that the others were defending. "What's our situation" I yelled, "we got bogeys all over the parking structure and they are climbing up from ground level" Mac informed. I nodded and took up a position next to Fiona. "So how's your day been" I asked firing at the mass of Maulers. "You know risking my life almost dying the same old same old" she said. I smiled and pulled my empty clip out of the gun. "Blackhawk is going to be here in two minutes" Spencer yelled. That's not enough time I thought, "that's to long we'll be over run" Mac yelled. "I'll draw them off you guys just get to the chopper" Espio said. "Wait what about you" I said. He pulled out an egg with a C4 on it. "I'll be fine just get back to base" he said. Before I could stop him, he took off darting around the Maulers getting there attention. They stopped coming after us and followed Espio. He leaped over the side and the Maulers followed. There were a few stragglers that stayed on the roof. We emptied what was left of our clips into the remaining Maulers. There was one that wasn't completely dead yet. I walked over and stomped my foot in its head. It's head exploded like watermelon and the blood got all over my pants. There was a loud chopping sound getting closer and closer. I turned around and saw a Blackhawk hovering near the edge of the roof. "Let's go lets go" Mac said. We all ran for the chopper hoping to get away from the city. Mac and Daniela were the first two on board, they covered as the rest of us got in. As I got in I saw Espio running towards us. He was waving us down holding his right arm. "Wait wait" I said, he just got to the chopper when a Mauler grabbed his leg. I grabbed his arms and pulled with all my strength. The Mauler wouldn't let go and neither would I. "We have to move these things are getting to close" the pilot warned. "Scourge you need to let him go" Spencer said. "No no I can get him on board" I said. I strained myself and pulled harder. Espio let out a scream as two more Maulers grabbed his legs. "Scourge your going to drag us all down" Blake yelled. "I'm not losing another one" I barked. "Scourge", I looked down at Espio and he just had tears in his eyes, "don't let go please I don't want to die" he begged. I looked back at the others and they gave me a concerned look. "Espio...I'm sorry" I said. I let go of his hands and he was dragged into the Mauler crowd. The bit and scratched him as he screamed in agony "Just kill me now, end it". I sadly raised my pistol and put a bullet in his brain to stop his suffering. He went limp and the Maulers dragged him off. "Your not going to fed him to your babies you sick fucks" I growled tears in my eyes. I snatched the detonator from Spencer's hands and pressed the button. The sky was filled with a big orange fireball as we sped off into the distance. I sat down and felt the tears roll down my cheeks. I silently cried, I didn't care if anyone saw me, I just killed someone I could save. Fiona placed her hand on my shoulder but I hugged her tight. I cried into her neck just wishing this was a nightmare. I knew well enough that it wasn't but I just hoped. "Scourge I know it was hard but sometimes you have to sacrifice one to save many" Fiona said softly into my ear. "I could have saved them both, Ramirez and Espio, they just slipped out of my grasp" I sobbed. Fiona just hugged me tight as we flew back to base.
