I'LL BE HONEST... TOTALLY KNEW THAT I WAS GOING TO SUCK AT UPDATING FREQUENTLY. I'M SURPRISED THAT I'VE MADE IT THIS FAR.
So I might have told a certain someone that this would be posted soon and it wasn't... heh, my bad. BUT HERE THIS IS! I tried to keep my new OC as different from Ash as I could but I may have made them too similar. I don't know you tell me.

Chapter 10: Bit of a Douche Bag
-I named her Jaydun!-
Every day used to be the same. I woke up, went to school, came home, studied, and went back to sleep. I was the pride and joy of my parents and even some of my school but I was sick of that. When the world ended I found myself slightly jumping for joy. I could finally be who I wanted to be instead of who my parents wanted me to be… turns out I wanted to be a bit of a douche bag.
I'd spent my day mostly defiling the Georgia state capitol building and other museums and landmarks. I don't know what it was that compelled me to tag the roof of this stupid clothing store but that what I was doing. Maybe it was so I could practice for when I tagged National monuments but the point was that I was poorly spraying my name on the wall when I heard him scream. No it was more like a wail than a scream.
"No… NO!"
Turning my back I saw the four men standing around a pipe like it was a dead man. The one that screamed paced around with his face twisted in one hell of an impressive frown. Seriously, that guy looked like the poster child for inner turmoil.
"NO!" He managed to sound angry this time. "No!" He repeated this time sad.
"Oh, god, if he intends on expressing every emotions with the word no I'm going to have to kill him." I groan to myself before stepping forward and raising my voice. "Hey! Shut up."
The look on their faces was priceless; a beautiful mix of surprise, horror, and alertness as they held up their weapons, training them on my head. I didn't bother raising my hands or surrendering to them as I just raised an eyebrow and smirked. They were clearly taking the sudden halt of civilization a lot harder than I was.
"Who are you?" The clean cut man in a police suit demanded. Apparently the 'I am the law' tone officers always had didn't go away in the apocalypse. Shame.
I let out a small, condescending chuckle as I looked back at my name sprayed on the wall in a lime green color. Kind of hard to miss but then again the police in Atlanta were never really observant. Turning back to the men I saw them all either wearing a weary look or a glare which made me want to laugh. I'm barely an 18 year old and they're looking at me like I'm an escaped convict.
"Got a last name…Jaydun?" The cop asked pointedly.
I rolled my eyes. "Dude, zombies are running around the streets and you're worried about my last name?" He didn't budge even as I let out a bitchy scoff. "What are you going to do? Go look me up in your little data base, find out all my dirty deeds…" I blindly motioned to my graffiti. "Turn me in?"
"Watch it, kid." The redneck snapped, spitting onto the ground as a form of intimidation. "I ain't having a good day."
Nothing could have stopped me from laughing at that. "Yah, and who is?" I snorted making him stiffen a little, stand a bit taller. "Not everything's about you, sunshine."
"I like her." The black man admitted boldly.
I grinned, taking steps towards them to see what they were freaking out about before. Letting out an impressed huff I knelt down next to the severed hand to look at it closely. The blood was still red so whoever this was, he wasn't infected when he did it… Now that's one tough shit.
"Friend of yours?" I asked casually while standing back up. All I got were scowls which made me roll my eyes. "Well, he's likely around here somewhere still… blood's fresh."
"He was a member of our group." Cop explained as Redneck knelt down to cover the hand with cloth. "His brother."
"I guess the saw blade was too dull for the handcuff." Redneck muttered solemnly. "Ain't that a bitch." Standing up he proceeded to shove the covered hand into the asian's back pack.
"Well aren't you a diverse group." I scoffed.
Ignoring my comment the cop shifted and ran his hand over his mouth in thought. "We haven't properly introduced ourselves." He noted not actually making eye contact with me. "I'm Rick Grimes."
"Rick Grimes who fights crimes." I smirked motioning to his clothes. They weren't nearly as amused by this as I was.
"That's T-dogg." Rick continued.
"Oddly stereotypical name for him don't ya think?" I commented, again it was ignored.
"Glenn"
I furrowed my eyebrows in thought as I fully took in the guy's appearance. "You look familiar." My eyes widened slightly as I realized that I'd said that out loud. "You wouldn't happen to be related to Jackie Chan would ya?" Great save…
Redneck chuckled slightly, amused by my racist jokes.
"Daryl." Rick finished, looking at me expectantly waiting for my snarky comment but I just kept my mouth shut smirking at the lot.
"So, about your friend." I began motioning to the blood on the ground.
Almost on cue they all looked to Daryl who'd began to walk around again except this time to look for clues. "Musta used his belt to slow the blood… else there'd be more blood." He noted now following a small trail of dripped blood to the other side of the roof.
Picking up on the tail I easily walked beside him, bouncing on my toes. I wouldn't normally just jump on a band wagon like this but a missing guy with his hand cut off… it was interesting to say the least. I always did enjoy those crime shows.
"So who was the genius who left his ass cuffed to the roof?" I asked no one in particular. "No, wait, let me guess! It was the friendly neighborhood cop over here wasn't it?"
"He was out of control." Rick muttered in his defense.
I just rolled my eyes at him and shut my mouth knowing that talking in buildings was like ringing the dinner bell… A lesson that I'd learned the hard way. Daryl took the lead, walking in a crouch with silent footsteps and his cross bow pointed up. I followed on his heals just as silent but walking taller and scanning my surroundings with my trusty hatchet held loosely in my hand. I had to give the group some props… at least they could be quiet.
"Merl!" I'd spoken too soon. "You in here?"
I'd actually face palmed at his idiocy. And here I was thinking that maybe they weren't a bunch of dumbasses. "Hey, wanna yell a little louder? I don't think the zombies down the street heard you." I scolded while smacking the back of his head. He gave a threatening glare but I just rolled my eyes at him while pushing forward to take the lead.
Sure enough they'd roused a couple of walking corpses but we easily took them out adding 4 more points to my score. I'd made the zombie apocalypse a game to entertain myself. Each zombie was one point and each person was minus a point. My grand total now was 314 with only one deduction of a point but that was out of mercy. Following the blood trail I let Daryl take the lead again since it'd began to get harder for me to see. I assumed by his actions and overall appearance that he was a skilled hunter so he'd be way better than me.
"Guess he had enough in him to take out these two sons-a-bitches." Daryl commented sounding like he was trying to reassure himself that his brother was still alive. Sure as shit there were two corpses just chilling on the floor with puncture wounds to the head.
I rolled my eyes yet again. "Or some other sap did it."
"Toughest asshole I've ever met, my brother." Daryl continued having gotten used to ignoring me now. "He's eat a hammer and crap out nails."
"Any man can pass out from blood loss no matter how tough he is." Rick chimed taking the lead which I swiftly corrected him of since his only weapon was a very loud gun.
"Merl!" Daryl called out once again.
Shockingly, before I could correct him Rick did. "We're not alone here, remember?"
"Screw that." Daryl retorted but in a hushed voice. "He could be bleeding out, you said so yourself."
I face palmed again but chose to hold my tongue… for now. Instead I just curiously explored the place, looking for clues. "Burners on." I noted to myself not meaning to say it out loud.
"What's the burnt stuff?" Glenn asked Rick who was holding up a flat piece of metal.
"Skin." He reluctantly answered. "He cauterized the stump."
"Fuck, dude, color me impressed." I half laughed looking closer at the burnt flesh.
"Told ya he was tough." Daryl said sounding a lot like a little boy defending his big brother. "Nobody can kill Merl but Merl."
"Don't take that on faith." Rick sighed. "He's lost a lot of blood."
"That's it… Merl is officially my favorite out of all of you." I scoffed noticing the busted window leading to a fire escape. "Asshole's officially let loose."
"He left the building?!" Glenn gasped. "Why would he do that?"
"Oh I don't know." I chimed sarcastically. "Maybe it has something to do with it being an unsecure death trap."
"He's alone as far as he knows. He's gotta do what he's gotta do to survive." Daryl explained distractedly looking out of the window.
"You call that surviving?" T-dogg asked incredulously. "Just wandering out in the streets, maybe passin' out? What are his odds out there?"
"No worse than being hand cuffed and left to rot by you sorry pricks!" Daryl quickly lashed out shutting T-dogg up, before approaching Rick. "You couldn't kill him. I ain't so worried about some dumb dead bastard."
"Oh! Shots fired!" I laughed. Seriously this shit was better than facebook fights. "Where's the popcorn when you really need it?"
"What about a thousand dumb dead bastards?" Rick countered. "Different story?"
"Why don't you take a tally?" Daryl continued. "Do what you want. I'm goin ta get 'im."
"Daryl, wait!" Rick commanded while pushing the red neck away to keep him from charging off after his brother.
"Gechya hands off me!" Daryl nearly shouted making Glenn attempt to shut them up by letting out a sharp 'sh' noise. "You can't stop me!"
"Fight it out!" I chirped as an attempt to egg them on. This was too fucking entertaining.
"I don't blame you." Rick told Daryl even as he glared at me. Turning his full attention to the Redneck he continued. "He's family I get that. I went through hell to find mine. I know exactly how you feel." That seemed to strike a nerve in the man making him stay quiet but still stand defiantly. "He can't get far with that injury. We could help you check a few blocks around but only if we keep a level head."
Daryl was quiet for a few beats. "I can do that."
For some reason they both looked to T-dogg as if it were his decision. Was he the leader or something? I'd assumed it was Rick but hey I've been wrong before.
T-dogg moved his head in a circle as if he were still making up his mind even as he answered their silent question. "Only if we get those guns, first. I'm not strolling the streets of Atlanta with just my good intentions, ok?"
I rolled my eyes. "How noble of you."
Daryl scoffed in agreement.
-Daryl-
"You're not doing this alone." Rick stated in an authoritative manner.
"Even I think it's a bad idea and I don't even like you much." I agreed.
"It's a good idea." Jaydun chimed in, sounding surprisingly supportive for once. I stared at the small girl in slight shock as she sat Indian style next to Glenn with an emotionless face. Her hazel eyes burned right through me before she rolled them like she seemed to always do. Tightening her small, blonde pony tail she pointed down to Glenn's crappy map on the floor. "Just listen to him."
Rick nodded, kneeling to the ground to get a better look while I stayed put. If the smart ass kid thought it was a good idea then that was good enough for me. She seemed to know what she was doing and she reminded me a lot of Merl and oddly Ashlen. They shared the same dimpled chin and big doughy eyes but I guess other than that they were polar opposites.
"If we go up there in a group, we're smoke drawing attention." Glenn began.
"Great analogy, Mr. Miyogi." Jaydun scoffed quietly. I chuckled. She may be an ass but at least she was funny.
"If I'm alone I can move fast." Glenn continued as if she hadn't said anything at all. "Look, that's the tank, five blocks from where we are now." He pointed to an eraser and then placed a balled up sticky note in front of it. "That's the guns." Pointing to an alley just a block away he looked up at Rick. "Here's the ally I dragged you into when we first met. That's where Daryl and I will go."
"Why me?" I demanded.
"Your cross bow is quieter than his gun." He explained easily. I just nodded. "While Daryl waits in the ally I'll run up the street and grab the bag."
"Would you put us elsewhere?" Rick asked motioning to T-dogg.
"Right, you and T-dogg will be in this ally here."
"Two blocks away. Why?" Rick pressed making Jaydun perk up and lean in with an impressed look.
"Damn, Jackie Chan, I underestimated you." She smirked having already understood the asain's tactics. "Plan B."
"Walkers might cut me off so I can't go back the way I came." Glenn explained further. "If that happens I won't go back to Daryl. I'll go forward instead. No matter which way I go I'll have someone to cover me… Afterwards we'll all meet back here."
"Hey, kid, what'd you do before all this?" I asked genuinely curious.
"Delivered Pizzas." He answered before furrowing his eyebrows. "Why?"
Jaydun let an amused snort. "I knew you looked familiar! You used to deliver pizzas to my dorm like 8 times a day."
"So what's the girl going to do in this big plan of yours?" I asked motioning to Jaydun with my head. Honestly, I didn't know why she was even tagging along but who was I to complain?
Glenn just faced towards the girl seriously. "You any good at running?"
She snorted. "Haven't survived this long on luck, pizza boy."
So I'll probably disappear again because... I'm good at it?
Don't have a solid reason for it.
But hey even if I do disappear I always read my reviews so go ahead and tell me how you feel about Jaydun! It's pretty likely that I'm gonna kind of boot her away until I need her again but I'm still curious. Also tell me if she's too much like Ashlen! I probably won't fix it but it'll be useful for when I need to write with her again.
Ok, it was nice seeing you again but bye!
